it's a current thing over here - remastered/recorded speciall anniversary editions of any moderately well selling album. Also bands performing etire album as it was recorded. That's got to be a bad idea. i'd much rather see a band play a decent set than an album, can't think of many exceptions. Milking the proverbial cow I believe. I'll still buy it tho!!! |

Playing an entire album is nice, if you have seen the band on every tour. I must have seen the Manics about 25-30 times, and the sets differ by maybe 5 songs, every tour. |

Went to the JobCentre today, and the Army were there going "Be the Best" ... now T-Mobile just told me I didn't have the qualifications to sell phones, Microsoft said I didn't have the qualifications to answer the phones, and the Army want to let me loose with a machine gun? | |

I saw The Who perform Quadrophenia...and it was so so. They had Billy Idol and Gary Glitter along for the ride. It didn't compare to seeing them perform live one time....doing a smash hit set upon set gig. And of course they had Moonie on the trap set, and whatever else he could pound upon. The poor guy played so damn hard, and did whatever, that he passed out for a song or two. Pete said he was just resting...yeah, resting in peace. |

I had the incredible good fortune to see The Who play Tommy live early in 1970 at Sheffield University. It was truly sensational. Apparently all their uni gigs on that tour were equally fantastic, and they were all recorded. The band had difficulty choosing which one to release. A technical superiority in the quality of the recording led to the Leeds gig being chosen, and 'Live at Leeds' was the result ... one of the most famous rock albums of all! But someone somewhere must surely have the tapes of those other electricifying gigs, including the one I was at! |

When that was released, you were 5 years older than I am now ![]() (am sure you could have worked that out, but I thought I would rub it in :P) You will hear my fateful story of how I first heard her, if you stick around long enough. Everyone's heard it at least 2-3 times. You'll hear everyone's story I'll bet.

I was 15 when TP was released but I didn't really get into Beth until about 4 years later. I wish they'd do some Beth vinyl reissues...I already have TP on CD, and I'm sure the extra tracks will "magically" appear online somewhere to save me $25, but I'd love to have her other studio albums on LP format to go with my vinyl COS. |

Younguns...when Beth Orton was born I was already one year out of high school. But I didn't discover her until 2002...way too late in life! Oh, and Ali, you are correct. LIve at Leeds is one of the greatest rock albums ever released. It was produced to be played loud. I used to drive my family nuts by cranking it up. The neighbors didn't appreciate it either. |

I most fess up here and now to having not been able to patiently wait ... but instead I bid for and won an acetate promo on eBay.![]() Which means I have been listening to the legacy edition all morning! I don't want to jump the gun by talking about any details until you have all had a chance to hear it, but suffice it to say that I think the remastering is majestic, and that it is worth every penny (and it has cost me about twice as many pennies as it will be costing you). And I will have to buy a regular copy as well, because I don't have the sleeve notes! |

oh yeah, sleeve notes... Um, repeating once again, but I got into Beth w/ Trailer park, some of the pics inside looked exactly like my g/f (now my wife), and found that they had many superficial similarities also (same age, height, etc)... Needless to say, I'm 'allowed' to fancy her, but I don't: Why should I need to? |

Haha! I guessed as much. I was the underbidder, but the vendor had two copies and sent me a 'second chance offer' ... so I paid one increment less than you! Enjoy. It's one yummy treat. |
