Well, there I was, sitting on the deck listening to the birds and having a cold one. The wife loaded up the CD carousel and hit play.
Well, whadda you know but Beth starts in with Galaxy of Emptiness. It was a homemade disc sent by possibly Ali, Ade, or Toby. It didn't matter...it was Beth. and after having not listened to her in months I was suddenly hearing her like never before.
I went outside to cut the grass one more time before winter sets in, and when I came in I put Beth on Again. My God, that song called 'Safety' is one beauty of a song.
I urge you all to stop what you're doing sometime this weekend and dig on some Beth Orton...the really good stuff.
Peace...

I listened to a good chunk of Beth yesterday at full vol (CoS demos and CoS plus the bonus disc) ... very lovely indeed!

I was struck by the great variety of songs and moods ... and it was 'Northern Sky' that excited me above all ... I would love to hear her do that live one day.

:D

Now you're sittin' on a Paris train, laughing at your own jokes again

Last night it was Stolen Car and Sweetest Decline. What beauties they are. And while sitting at my PC I discovered a DVD with nothing written on it. I stuck it in the drive, and the Rolling Stone interviews came on...Central Reservation, Paris Train, and Concrete Sky.
I listened and watched several times. They got me all keyed up to enjoy them again and again.

Taking inspiration from this thread, I chucked Daybreaker on. It really is like listening to a completely new album.
Went to the JobCentre today, and the Army were there going "Be the Best" ... now T-Mobile just told me I didn't have the qualifications to sell phones, Microsoft said I didn't have the qualifications to answer the phones, and the Army want to let me loose with a machine gun?

Indeed...Daybreaker is rich in production. Track after track after track
I encourage everyone to put a Beth Orton CD into your car's player and just go for a ride. Inspiration plus.

just the other night I was waxing poetically to my girlfriend about how 'Sweetest Decline' is the most perfect song ever. It amazes me how this song, over ten years after first hearing it, still touches a part of me that doesn't get touched often. It takes about six restarts of the song for me to get all the way through it; I keep restarting it. Those opening bars come on and I feel like I am a Xanax and a Jack on the rocks into the night.
