For me it was when i went in my local library to avoid getting a soaking. And browsing through the CD's there was a copy of Pass in Time, I'd never heard of her before or any of her music, Putting it back in the rack and going outside to see if it had stopped raining I just thought " hire it". Best 50p I've ever spent. |

Hi Ant...I believe it was in July of 2004 when I first discovered Beth. Daybreaker had just been released and my life would never be the same again. |

i had a good friend give me a copy of someones daughter on 10" after a break up, i wish i never saw the sunshine was perfect for the doom and gloom of a broken heart, which lead to the album which lead to the obsession, think all the singles has come out of trailer part so must have been 98? |

hell i can't remember... must be getting old, i was around 17 or 18 and starting or finishing my first year at uni and i remember seeing her at the mercury lounge in melbourne and being blown away by her and her band but i can't for the life of me remember the first time i heard her music. i do remember the first time i heard Jim White and M Ward tho, they were playing with Beth, two great nights of music in melbourne changed my bloody life. |

Summer of 1996, heard She cries your name I think it was, liked it saw she was on the same bill as Pau Weller in a big filed in London, decided to check her out, was a bit bit stoned, bit drunkthe sun was out so on and so forth. The rest as they say, is history. I do recall also that Skunk Anansie were on the same bill and I had to run away and hide as they were farrrr to loud for me one point that day!! |

We've done this before, but anyway: When Trailer Park came out, I was struck by her resemblance to my girlfriend (now my wife). Same age (Beth is older by 3 months), same height also. A few (well, quite a few) years later, one of the kids found a Beth promo (4 songs from Trailer Park, I think it was), and went "whoa! She looks like Mum!", so it wasn't just me. (also, that photo of her with Tracy Emin at a pub, if I'd walked in I'd have gone over and been too familiar until...) So, naturally, I've kept a friendly eye on how she's done stuff over the years. |

Sometime during the summer/fall of 1999 "Stolen Car" was playing quite a bit on one local radio station (btw, a major commercial station, not a small college station...probably the first and last Beth song to have that distinction). I was eventually so intrigued by her voice that I sought out the album. Played it a lot in my car (which was not stolen, fortunately ) for a few months. I eventually started looking for her other albums. The Best Bit EP was the only one I was able to locate initially, then eventually found Trailer Park (the infamous 11-song/ 10-track production error copy, with Live as You Dream and Sugar Boy on one continuous track). Bought a few singles off of eBay mostly, eventually saw her live once each on '02,'06, and her only show here in '08. Rest is history , I guess!

Just to add, a few days later i went to another library where they had central reservation and trailer park. I ripped 'em all at the time but since have bought 'em second hand off ebay (i'm a tight git) with the exception of comfort of strangers which was on offer, and i *ahem* got hold of SPM and the other side of... not much for the latter really |
