My first map in what I believe is a little over a year at this point, London Streets is a frantic fast-paced ditty of a map, set in the dark nook of London. The street is cordoned off by two locked gates at either end, so the action is contained to this main street, the alleys that branch from it, and the six buildings that are unfortunate enough to be located on it.

Be sure to make it and let me know what you think. I'm a bit rusty after having not made any for that long.

Annnnd here ya go. Have fun, you little wombas. :w00t:[1]

Hmm, I was thinking of making a London-themed map, in horror too, complete with typical telephone boots, the big ben(which would just be a sniping tower) and a tower of terror. I couldn't get the telephone boots to not look crappy though.

Anyway, you beat me to it, and it doesn't look half bad at all, really.

Wow that would be a huge map.

make only the tower of terror, that could kick ass.

what I can say from the plan of elliot's map :

looks like a basic complex looking map (I mean the layout is basic, and it also looks a lot like market garden but in smaller) I would have linked some of the buildings.
maybe you could try the military or the egyptian tileset as it would add some shortcuts (by jumping)

I have a question, are you too lazy to explain your lightsetting, or do you not put much work into it?

I think I'll make the map, if I can run my game...

Haha, wow.

Originally, I actually did have a place that was accessible only by jumping, believe it or not, but it didn't work well with the gameplay, so I scrapped it. Along those lines, London just would not be London if it was in Egypt or if it was a military complex.

And no, I normally don't do a whole lot with the lights, I find it a bit tedious actually. Haha, I guess my ass IS too lazy for lights, now that I think about it. Oh well.

well yes, egyptian wouldn't look like london, but military may work for some part of the city (like tokyo central)

you have a lots of good to awesome maps, and usually the only (quite) bad thing I see about them is the simple lightsetting. it looks so awesome when you know how to do it.

Is this possible on a gamecube? Because it actually looks quite awesome and I might dig up my TS3 disc just to make this >_<

Be creative? Seriously, just spend some time on your lightning and think about it in a realistic way, basic example being indoor areas having darker lightning than outdoor areas(shade lulz). Really, I don't think anyone can "teach" you how to make up kick-ass lightning. Just try stuff out.

Jas, it's done on a PS2. It should be doable on a GC :ahh:

I learned how to do a good lightsetting thanks to X-Unit's maps.
Look at my different maps which use a complex lightsetting.

I don't know what to say. try harder. it took me a few hours to do the lightsetting of fishermen village or the mansion.

also something came to my mind while looking at the plan of this map. I think team spawn points act like start all spawn points in free for all modes. I see a lots of people don't know that because they would put starts all next to team starts and a lots of team starts at each base, causing almost everyone to spawn in the 2 bases in a dm.

Hmmf. Try not to have too much bright colours in one map, generally doesn't look as good. Especially when you have completely contrasting colours like yellow, blue, and red at the same time. It will very likely make a map just look retarded, random, and not detailed.

If you have two distinctive colours, you can make them flow more naturally into each other by having a "mix" of them in between.

*edit*

As for the map, I don't see much that needs to change, really. However I would get rid of the flare gun x2 next to the yellow teleport. It's just that you can get to it so quickly compared to the other flare guns that people could very likely ignore those. I'd either change it to a vintage rifle or make the other flare guns respawn on pickup.

That's a good point there knives... That might actually be a better idea. :lunatic:

yes, I do that.
the spreading tool is your friend.

I played the map. it's decent, fun to play, but not your best work (imo) and i still say it would be better with the military or egyptian theme for the jumps.

I can't say much about items placement since I didn't look at it very closely. I think nothing particularly struck me (and tlwk have already pointed a problem)

apart from that the map doesn't remind of london in particular, but it still looks good. just be careful because there is wallpaper in some outdoor places.

I can't say much about the lightsetting either since I did a crappy one in 2min (7th grey outdoor, 6th grey indoor) so it looked quite bland.
