"I agree," Alex said as he handed the trinket over to Ted. "You deserve this man. If if wasn't for you, we could have been trapped in there forever." Alex nodded to the actor, a smile on his face behind his mask. "You were great, sir. This really was a lot of fun." He turned to his two companions. "What do you guys want to do next?" |

Going through the right door, Simon and his companions found themselves in what was at first glance, the gym, but the next, a botanical garden of some sort. The design was like that anyway. "Hmm... I can't imagine anythin-" Simon started, looking around before a very provocative lady appeared from behind some of the bleachers. What was their luck with these things anyway? Simon felt possible irritation coming from the other members of his group due to their recent experience with women in red dresses and started a nervous sweat, albeit a comical kind. The woman started to speak, indicating she was a witch of some sort, and then withdrew behind the bleachers. "What's even goin-" Simon started again, before his eyes popped open and he took a step back as what appeared to be a flying torso with a wolf head and bat wings leaped out at them. "...oh damn. Um, let's get out of here," the asian suggested to his allies, cocking his head in one direction before taking their arms and making a run for it.... well, frantically searching for an exit in any case. A flower pot would be nice in this situation too. [Wild Feral Witch appeared!] [>Run] [>Examine area for flower pots] |

Ted received the trinket from Alex, and pinned it on his uniform. "Thanks man. That actually was a lot of fun, thinking back on it. Who knew that having the crap scared out of you would be a good way to spend an evening?" Ted then turned to the indian technician who had run the whole thing. "You, sir, are a genius. Thank you for tonight." Ted took a moment to look at his watch again. He still had time before he had to head over to complete the request on the help wanted sign. "Well, I suppose we could either go through the Haunted House again, but a different path, we could buy some candy, or maybe just mingle somewhere." Once Catherine and Grant went in, they saw the Athenian figure locking one of the door. The figure certainly looked handsome, for the short time Catherine saw him, and defently seemed like someone Catherine would enjoy a pleasurable night with. Catherine managed to suppress that train of thought, but only because she was current with Grant. Of course the greeting startled her a little bit, but it was mostly due to her not expecting it at the time. “Well... it seems like the only path is the one the handsome fellow went trough.” Catherine told Grant, after turning to face him. She tilted her head to the side and smiled. “Shall we see what is in store for us further in?” She asked Grant, before persumaly following him trough the door. |

Grant made his way inside, and was fairly impressed by the amount of work put into the interior of this haunted house. Of course, there were a few glitches. The voice seemed rushed, and of course there was the Gladiator. "I'm pretty sure Gladiators aren't supposed to be very intimidating." All the same, the atmosphere was impressive for a school event. He wasn't sure his school he had anything this in depth. "I wonder if the rest of the place will be this decked out," he couldn't help but think. He noticed three paths. He had considered looking into all of them, but Catherine had already committed to one. "Yes, let's," He answered, returning her smile. He opened the door for himself and his friend, and entered the next part of the haunted house. |

Alex glanced down at his watch after Ted's suggestion. It was getting kind of late to be wandering around the school dressed like a scarecrow. He frowned slightly as he thought about his options. "Let's go get some candy, alright?" Alex said. "Some sweets would be a nice end for this carnival." Alex waved for his friends to follow and wandered over toward the concession stand. |

Theodore shrugged. "Sounds good to me." He checked his wallet again, to find 200 yen. Hopefully, that would be enough to buy some candy. He then walked after Alexander, towards the concession stand.

"Ah yes," Tristan said with a nod, "not quite Halloween without candy eh?" He adjusted his hat smartly, and checked his belt to make sure he hadn't misplaced his 'sword' in all the excitement of the haunted house. Everything in place, Tristan gave his cape a little fling and strode toward the consession stand.

Veronica was a bit surprised by the amount of enthusiasm Simon and Mira were putting into supporting this fantasy, but she had no problem playing along. Upon entering the gym, she felt like she wouldn't have to try very hard to get caught up in it: the decoration was very thorough, and since Veronica hadn't even been in the gym yet she didn't have a point of comparison for the true nature of her surroundings. That aside, Veronica was getting slightly irritated. It's true that the woman that had appeared in front of them was slightly older, but was she going to encounter anyone else who was flat in this school? Quickly, though, Veronica realized that whoever the woman was, she was supposed to be the scary attraction for this portion of the house. Before Veronica could open her mouth, however, the woman had re-emerged from behind the bleachers... well, half of her had, anyway. Veronica tried to wrap her mind around it, but there was no way the thing she was looking at now was created through special effects. Her eyes scanned frantically for some sort of wires holding it up, for some evidence it was a short woman with her legs tucked in...They'd seen stuff like this in the psyche world, but that and this were two different things. Veronica didn't have a weapon, and she certainly wasn't feeling the supernatural strength she had in that world. "... It's real," she said between a gasp and a gulp. She'd meant to say it looked real, but her mind and eyes weren't agreeing. A scream didn't rise from Veronica's throat as the creature lunged forward, but rather a comical surprised yelp. She didn't even hear Simon's words, but she agreed with his sentiment as he began tugging her in the other direction by the arm. He wouldn't have to, though, as Veronica turned on her heels and began running along with him. |

"This doesn't look so bad. What's supposed to be scary about plants, anyways? er... unless their poisonous, but i doubt that." Mira chirped, mostly to anyone whow as paying attention as they entered what seemed to be a very well decorated and poorly lit gym. She thought it was a lovely decore and actually found it quite an interesting choice for a setting, but she couldn't quite understand the reasoning behind it. She only started to create an idea as she saw the matured woman appear from the sides of the bleachers, and say her piece. A wicked witch of the forest, maybe? I guess that could be it. It's a bit cliche and boring tho-Oh shit.... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! Mira's train of thought quickly shifted as the woman had moved behind the bleachers, only to rise up above. The facial disfigurement was enough to cause Mira's mental note to change direction, while her own expression hadn't changed much. The girl was staring blankly at the grotesque figure, while mentally she was spazzing out. In any other circumstances, Mira would try to act tough. There was only one fatal flaw in it this time around. Dispite her energetic form and over all carefree attitude she displayed at almost all times, she was very easy to scare. Normally she could atleast put up an act on the outside, while mentally crying and praying for things to go away. This was just a bit to much for her however. Once she realized it was just a torso Mira lost control of her own emotions, so to speak. "S-simon... Veronica..." The girl whimpered as her eyes began to well up slightly with water. She instinctively took a few steps back as though to hide behind her companions, wanting to run but a bit too fearful to do so. This isn't a psyche.... this shouldn't be possible... I-i'm scared... Someone, anyone... "Save me!" The girl screamed whilst trying not to cry. In almost the same instant, as if in response to her words, she was grabbed on the arm by Simon. She snapped out of it as her body began to listen to her once again, following Simons lead and taking off with the rest of the group. She just wnated to get out of there. |

The creature growled in a beastly voice, following hungrily after Simon, Veronica, and Mira as they fled in terror. Simon's quick thinking allowed him to spot something that might have a similar function to a potted plant: a large, tough-looking, shelled fruit that was hanging from a branch. if he plucked it off it would have a good but manageable weight. The three had no idea where they were supposed to run to to escape, however. Ordinarily there would be doors, but the scenery had been modified to allow no visible sign of where to exit from, and they had a feeling the door to the outside was locked. Another screaming voice accompanied their own, to the surprise of the group. Another boy, dressed in a brown hoodie and long jeans, motioned them over towards the opposite set of bleachers. "Come on guys! We'll escape this way-!" he managed to get out, before the creature slung itself through the air. "Aaagh! Oh God, run!" the boy's voice screamed through the air as the creature seemingly feasted on his body, ripping red giblets out from his hoodie. It all looked very realistic, although something about the boy's face made it look wrong. It's looked like he was somehow satisfied rather than crying in pain and death. Also interestingly, slightly drowned out by the screams, they could hear a booming coming from beneath the bleachers that the woman had vanished into earlier. Perhaps it was just more interesting sound effects? --------------------- Grant and Catherine entered the final remaining door. Interestingly, they didn't hear it lock behind them; they sort of got the idea that they might be slightly understaffed and not have anyone left to sneak in and lock it. That thought was in the back of their mind, however, as they walked down the makeshift hallway composed of the behind-the-bleacher's area, usually used for holding folding seats, tables, and etc. for events. The wall was covered with a tapestry showing an ancient Athenian warrior fighting and brutally killing legions of men. The hall was only dimly illuminated with hanging lanterns, giving the area a dim orange glow. A loud, authoritative voice spoke up. "Hail, travelers! You have entered my personal Hades. Once, I was denied immortality by Athena, after eating the brains of another man. Since then, I have dwelt here in hell, battling and dying daily while consuming the flesh of my fellow man. Arm yourselves and prepare! I shall dine on your bodies tonight!" the voice roared, its loud pitch echoing through the area. The door behind them began to shake, like something was about to burst through. It seemed the only escape would be to run through the hallway. Edited by Aim, Oct 3 2010, 08:38 PM.

Aha! Simon thought, beaming as he spotted something that looked like a coconut, but maybe it wasn't. It would work for all his purposes anyway. A normal looking person appeared, beckoning them over to an escape route before whatever was chasing them started to "maul" him quite gruesomely. Though Simon thought the other student could've put up more of an act. Sighing noticeably, Simon gave a determined look at the fruit he spotted and grabbed both sides of it firmly, attempting to rip it off the branch from which is hanged. "Mira, Veronica, keep going! I'll do something about this monster! Don't worry, I'm not someone who acts without a plan, you know," Simon called out to his female companions, urging them toward the the bleachers before following behind them and eyeing the monster all the while. Now, if he had plucked off aforementioned fruit successfully... "Hey! I got something that's a lot healthier for you, monsterface!" Simon called out to... whatever the hell it was, bringing his right arm back. Now... if he had gotten the monster's attention... Simon grinned cockily and hurled the fruit right toward the beast's gaping mouth, then ran, ran as fast as he could. Veronica's panic at the lack of an obvious exit turned to confusion at the scene behind her. She had a pretty sharp eye for detail, so it didn't take her long to realize something was off with the scenario. She didn't have any evidence that what was happening was fake, but she felt she had reason to believe that things weren't as someone was trying to make them appear. Leaning on that, Veronica jumped happily back into the belief that everything going on inside this haunted house was staged. It was a much easier theory to deal with, evidence or no evidence. Anger was her first impulse, as Veronica didn't like being tricked, but the feeling that she now understood what was going on (although she actually had no idea on the particulars) was enough to put her in a good and calm mood. She got the feeling Mira had been genuinely scared, though. Of course, by this point Veronica had practically forgotten that she herself had been scared as well. In her current state, though, she wanted to preserve the illusion of realism for Mira, and so continued running in fear from the events taking place around her. "Simon, what are you-" Veronica started to say to Simon as he stopped, but as he assured her he had a plan, Veronica felt she was catching on. Simon was going to push this play a little further by becoming a "sacrifice" for the creature. "All right. Don't die here, okay?" Veronica told him with her best acting, struggling to keep her smile from breaking out. Veronica turned to Mira. "Let's keep going, there's no time to waste!" She began running towards the opposite bleachers gain, hoping to find some door out behind them. With amusement, she turned around to check what Simon was up to. He was... ... Veronica quickly realized she had misjudged the situation. Simon was a weird one, and he apparently had no idea that this was all fake. If that fruit was as sturdy as it looked, he could seriously injure one of the actors by chucking it at them. Veronica had realized all this too late, though. She bit her lip as she glanced back to see what would happen. "Monsterface...?" Veronica muttered under her breath. Edited by Heat, Oct 5 2010, 06:44 PM.

Wow, I wouldn't have expected this from a haunted house... Catherine thought, looking at the walls. She was expecting something kind of... normal. Like ghosts or tatter cloths handing around, or lots of shadows. Traditional stuff like that, not this kind of... Greek/Roman inspired place. It does explain why there was a good looking gladiator fellow earlier... She then heard the voice, and the doors behind her started to shake. “Wha- what?” Catherine said nervously, now facing the door they came through. The fact that it seemed like something would burst trough it almost caused Catherine to let out a scream, but managed to contain it.“Um, I- I don't want to be dined on in that manner.” Catherine said, slowly backing up. She turned her face to look behind her. It seems that the only way out is probably to keep going forward. Catherine turned back around and lifted her dress up enough to make it easier to run in. “Hurry Grant.” Catherine almost shouted, as she dashed down the hallway. |

Mira had thought of nothing but fleeing for the moment, not wanting to find out just what that beast had in mind for the group. She wanted to believe that this was all some sort of hoax for the atmosphere but there weren't any indications this was fake. She couldn't see any wires, the monsters body didn't look like it was just make up. It seemed very real to the girl, and thus her panic ceased to fade. She did however get a glimmer of hope as she heard the calls of what she assumed was a student, preaching about an exit. As her attention was drawn to it, it was only a matter of moments before she saw the boy get mauled. It was around then that Simon seemed like he would act like a hero, claiming that he would fend off or delay the monster. Had the girl been under a more sane state of mind she would have slapped him back to his senses and dragged him along as they ran. Alas, she was not in such a state of mind. Heeding his words, as well as those of Veronicas, Mira nodded as she took a sudden shift in direction and prepared to run for her life. again. I can do this. I can escape. This is no problem... Please don't follow me! Oh god what is it going to do?! I dont want to get eaten! Thinking to herself spurred her worries on further, the curse of an overactive imagination keeping her from reason. Years of horror movies and the unsettling or creepy atmosphere of numerous games which she had witnessed flowing out from her memories added to the illusion. Who knew that indulging something she regarded as amusing and fake in the past would return to bite her in the ass. Mira just shook her head in an attempt to clear all negativity and tried to focus on scrambling to the bleachers. Dwelling on fearful imagery was not helping the situation. Now was not the time for complicated thought. It was time to run like all hell. |

Grant was fairly interested by the decoration on the inside of this path. He hadn't expected it either. It didn't line up with the earlier decoration, or what he would have expected from a stereotypical haunted house. "They really went all out." A voice spoke: apparently there was an evil zombie gladiator doomed to kill and feast on those he defeated in battle. Grant smiled. While he'd expected something frightening, he hadn't expected action. He almost looked forward to seeing if there was some sort of mock battle they'd have to deal with. He didn't have much time, though. The door behind him began shaking, and Catherine began to take off. She called to him to hurry, so he complied. Well, eventually. First he glanced around for something to arm himself with. While he was hoping for an abandoned sword or shield kind of prop, he would have settled for almost anything. The chair's they usually stored would work, too. Once he had made his glancing over, he began to run to catch up to and keep up with Catherine, keeping his eyes open for something to arm himself and prepare with. "This is more exciting that frightening," he thought. He considered the possibility of just outrunning the zombie. He was fairly sure he could keep ahead of a zombie, but he was also fairly sure he could keep ahead of Catherine. "I can't leave her as zombie bait. No way that'd go over well." He mused. "Well, I'll just have to wait to see what happens next." [Spot Check: Look for something to defend self with] [Move to Area: Down hall with Catherine] |

Mira ran on past the grotesque scene along with Veronica. While Mira kept on through the bleachers, Veronica stopped to see the fruits of Simon's efforts as he chucked a tremendous (prop) fruit at the creature. Ideally, it would smack into the creature and lay it low. Realistically, it might splatter across the creature's face and blind or disorient it. Rather, it simply bonked the creature in the face, fell down, and hit the boy below the creature on the head. The boy cried out, not expecting to be hit by a fruit, but the end result was that the whole effect was ruined; the creature hadn't even reacted. Hastily, the voice of the woman herded them towards the exit with some forgettable but spooky language. When the group got out through the door under the bleachers, they met the original female figure outside the gym, thankfully with her lower body in tact and her face back to normal. She sighed and shook her head. "You're lucky that what you threw was just a prop!" the woman scolded Simon. The scolding seemed pretty natural; he supposed that now that he got a good look at her, she was familiar as a teacher of some kind. "In the future I'd ask that you keep your Spelunking heroics separate from your leisure here in the real world. At any rate, I hope you all enjoyed your encounter with the fearsome Manananggal," she laughed, the phrase rolling off her tongue with surprising ease. "You can thank the student in there with the knot on his head for the idea. Here's a pin to commemorate the experience." Finishing, she handed Mira a small badge with a phrase printed on it: "I SURVIVED THE MANANANGGAL." "You kids stay safe," she finished with a small wave. ((Get accessory: Manananggal's Badge (Physical attacks drain 1/10 damage as HP))) ((You're free to leave when ready)) ------------------------ Catherine and Grant hurried through the odorous hallways, unsure of what would come ahead of them but knowing they didn't want to see what was behind them. As they progressed, they saw what looked like mangled corpses lying all around wearing armor similar to what they'd seen the Athenian soldier wearing earlier. Grant decided to be prepared and scooped up a shield and sword that had fallen at wayside (although they sure didn't seem to have done their previous owner any good). Up ahead, they saw another door that would supposedly lead outside. Wasn't it a little early to be getting out, though...? Upon stepping out, they realized why. They had exited out with a wall to their right. To the left was an open range to run through, while in front of them stood a wall of gladiators holding throwing javelins. "Now, we fight!" a soldier from amongst the crowd roared, and sure enough, the soldiers began to fight amongst themselves amidst loud clangs of metal. The also hurled the occasional javelin towards Grant and Catherine, although their odd flight patterns seemed to indicate they weren't being thrown as normal, perhaps rather guided by some sort of wires. Regardless, they luckily all seemed to be soaring over the heads of Catherine and Grant and into the open windows of whatever building was next to the gym. Whatever the case, the door had closed behind the two and their only escape was to traverse the side of the building, hopefully avoiding being struck by flying javelins. |

Grant had found something to arm himself with, so he quickly took advantage of his new toys. He slid the sword into his belt and held the shield as they ran to the door. Of course the multitude of dead bodies had helped a little in aiding the scarier theme, a bit, but all semblance of scariness disappeared as soon as they stepped outside. Once again, it was an action scene. As javelins began shooting towards them, Grant stepped up to the plate. While he could only assume none of the javelins could hurt them, there was a very real chance they could be hit them. He prepared to dash across, but after taking a step forward he remembered his unarmed friend. Finding it necessary to aid her, he grabbed Catherine's hand and pulled her in line with him, using the shield in his other hand to protect Catherine and his self. "C'mon, let's go." He began moving once again, at a good pace, pulling Catherine along with him. He did make sure to keep a slow enough pace that Catherine, dress and all, could keep up, so he could keep his shield in the way of any potentially incoming projectiles. He kept his eyes open for the flying spears, and made his best effort to keep the shield in the way of any of the ones that looked to be getting close. As they made their way across, he was having a decent time keeping up with the adrenaline pumping scene, and had indeed gotten somewhat caught up in the event. Not so much in the horror, but in the pacing. |

Catherine ran past all the mangled bodies, trying her best not to pay any attention to them. Afterall, all the corpses there didn't really set all that well with Catherine. She then saw the door and ran to it. ...Only to end up stopping outside, spotting the wall of fighters off to her side. When one of them shouted “Now, we fight! “, Catherine hid behind Grant. He did grab a weapon and shield, and all Catherine had was a bucket of candy. So the best bet for her was to hide behind him and hope for the best... but when they started fighting each other, Catherine realized that they should get out of there soon, or atleast before one of those javelins end up hitting one of them. Before Catherine could get to running again, Grant ended up grabbing one of her hands and started to pull her along. “Aright.” Catherine responded, using the hand that was holding her bucket to pull her dress up a bit, she tried her best to keep to Grant's pace. She also kept her head down, and body arched to keep herself from getting smacked by a stray javelin. And while Catherine didn't exactly like this setting... The fact that Grant was holding her hand... ...She would have liked it more if it didn't feel like they were fleeing for their life. |

Through a hail of raining javelins, Grant and Catherine made their way through the haunted house with their hands clasped tightly together. Luckily, some precaution must have been made for the javelins not to hit, cause they always seemed to hit well above the heads of the two... Still, it is hard to resist the reflex to run and panic while point spears were flying through the air toward oneself. When they finally got to end of the building where they met the fence around the baseball field, they turned again as their only option, only to come face to face with the original warrior. The smile on his blood-spattered face told them that the gig must be over, however. "What'd you think of your trip through Hades?" he asked, feeling proud of what was apparently his handiwork. "It wasn't easy getting together a bunch of guys to throw javelins all over the place, but it's always satisfying to see the faces of the people going through!... Except you," the boy muttered, looking at Grant. After contemplating for a moment, he grinned and patted Grant on the back with one beefy arm. "Hey kid, you've got a lot of guts! You should definitely join our football team! It's small, I know, but you've got the air of a tough spelunker. I know you could help us out!" Finally, he pulled out a small badge reading "I SURVIVED HADES" across it and handed it to Grant. "I wanted to put Tydeus' name on it, but apparently they though Hades sounded better... which is stupid, because they let that other guy put Manananggal on his! Seriously," he grunted. Winking at Catherine, he crossed his arms and leaned against one wall. "You should give it to your girlfriend as a gift, right?" he suggested to Grant, although he was clearly oggling Catherin as he spoke.
