Thanks! B) I think my next upgrades for it will be some more tires (these are going to be bald soon) and some alu. steering parts, since the steering is pretty sloppy in stock form.

the rear only go bald since they have power to em, the fronts like never wear.

The inside edge of the rears is already smooth from spinning out so much, and the outer half of the fronts is pretty close to smooth as well. With the battery and esc weight on the rear part of the truck, it pushes a lot on power, and then spins hard if I get on the brakes quick. There is a set of mini Road Rage tires at Hobbytown, but I'll probably just order online somewhere.

Sweet!

I pried apart the motor to see what I could find...there was some good carnage. Seems that I managed to overheat the bearing, which melted into the plastic "endbell" and allowed the armature to move sideways inside the motor. That movement then broke one of the windings and pulled two of the comm. sections off of the arm. Maybe the batteries weren't dying after all...it was the motor on its last legs.

:headbang:

Gearing is stock I believe...12-13t pinion, 60t spur. I never had a chance to try out those Trinity pinions, but they are 13t and up.

Sounds like you got the best of the motor. I counted 5 silver can motors I have laying around ranging from 280-370, any of them will work.

I have ran 9.6 on a baja before without problems. That is why I asked about gearing

12/60 should be fine. Mine came with 15/60 new

Yeah, I found a hobby shop over in Anderson, SC that does mostly on road racing(3 tracks on site), but he has a few mini-t parts. He said the motor I have has been discontinued b/c it was known for burning up. He has an "Insane 370" motor by Losi that is $25, but I wouldn't be able to get it until after I come home next anyway.

I want to come home this weekend, but I'm not sure if will be able to or not. I've got 2 projects due, so unless I get them done beforehand, I won't be coming back.

Update: After killing a few motors, I decided to check out the hobby shop I had found online near Clemson. I bought the "Insane 370" motor, and the guy who owns/runs the place soldered it on for me. Got talking with him, and it turns out he opened the place just a few months ago. He was really nice and helpful, and even gave me a discount on the motor. He also let me drive on one of his tracks for a while w/o charge. B) On the way out I spotted a little gem on one of the shelves that I just couldn't resist: a Pro-Line CJ8 body. He gave me a discount on that too. :thefinger:

I did a little damage at the track though. Started hearing a clicking sound coming off jumps, turns out I tore some teeth of of two of the spider gears and one of the sun gears in the diff.

Well, I killed another spider gear. I did get almost an hour of total run time out of over the past two days, which turns out to be pretty close to the runtime on the batteries. They were starting to slow down as the familiar popping noise returned. This gear died the same as the other two, with two adjacent teeth missing. I put the last new one in, hopefully it doesn't do this again. :ph43r: I suppose if it does, I can try locking the diff. w/ CA.
