i picked up a hyperion brushless motor in some stuff i bought and have a few questions... all i need is an esc that can run a brushless motor right? can i use regular nimh batterys with this setup? why does this motor have 3 wires instead of two? what are the advantages/disadvantages of going brushless? thanks, Blane |

yes you can run those batteries, yes you need a brushless esc it has 3 wires because thats how a brushless motor works, Your brushless esc will have 3 wires and by switching which wire attaches to which lead that will determine the direction your motor spins. The only advantage is that it gives you a ton more torque for the size of the motor. The cheaper brushless motors are very twitchy and not smooth at all. |

http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=e_Z3013 I have a 3013-14, it has a little more rpm's than yours. With a mamba 25 the low speed throttle was not very smooth. It was quite jumpy but the mamba 25 is not known for being smooth on the low speed throttle response. It had good wheel speed. Since your's has a lower KV it may be a little easier to drive. If you are die hard set on keeping it get the Quark 33, it is brushless only but has the smoothest throttle response of all the brushless controllers. If not get either the Mamba Max or Sidewinder, they wont be quite as smooth but you have the ability to run both brushed and brushless motors. |
