I have 2 of the VF digs on order. Should be here by the end of the week. The TCS/RC4WD dig uses the same dig assembly as the R2D. They seem to be hit or miss on Quality. Rooster and Destroyer both have the R2D. Roosters works perfect, Destroyers does not work at all. Im sure they both have more info on them. |

I installed mine earlier this morning. Install went pretty easy. Still need to do more testing. |

So far the dig unit is working fine. I have had it get hung in lock or 4wd maby twice, had to take a reverse to get it back working. Overall it is working smooth. But the big problem is the servo. Posted Image It was running at 6V. This also happened after driving for maybe 20 mins. The circuit board is enclosed in some thick shrink wrap inside the servo case. It got hot enough to melt the motor wires, brown and orange. It also melted the solder joint on the orange wire bridging it with another solder joint. The servo case was barely warm to the touch. Aaugman has fried 1 if not 2 servos. Fish spoke with the guys at VF and they said all of their prototype testing was done using 5v. |

I installed another servo. I moved the circuit board outside of the case, also took off the shrink wrap covering it. Posted Image It is now running off the MM. I reset my end points. After setting endpoints and driving around for about 20 mins the max temp I reached was 112F. This was on both the circuit board and the servo case on the motor side. I think the key is getting the end-points set up perfectly, otherwise the servo will overheat. The dig also works flawlessly now. I drove around in both forward and reverse cycling from 4wd to disconnect to dig and it worked perfectly.   |

I just recv'd the VF dig, and very concerned about using the 225mg servo Im reading on almost every forum about them burning up ( even after setting endpoints correctly) :( Will Hitec warranty them ? T |

I'd say run the circuit board externally from the start. That way you can monitor it easily for the first little bit to make sure it is not getting hot. With mine that way, it will not even get warm after running a course and practicing for a bit afterwards. I also run mine on 4.8-5V now, with the heatshrink still on the board. Hitec should warranty them....just check to see how long it is for. |
