Finally got around to building a bronco. im tempted to use 1.9's, but ive got already got a 1.9 rig and i wanted something a little more capable. i was originally going to paint it mint green like mine, but couldnt find a color that was even close. so....i had a can of metallic blue laying around which happened to be the color of moms bronco. i painted the grill and rollbar white (like hers) for a nice touch. ive still got to add the decals, but i just finished mounting it tonight. ill post pics of the 1:1 later  heres the buld specs...

TCS X-trail chassis
axial axles w/ alloy hubs and C's and rear straight axles/lockouts
axial trans w/ alloy housing
axial plastic beadlocks (for now) w/ used up rock claws
Mamba Max
3 cell lipo imprted from japan (watch out larry :thefinger: )
645mg servo
custom battery and servo trays made by me :D
RC4WD 90mm scale shocks
traxxas steel yokes
integy 35t lathe

i still need to make sliders and bumpers for it. hopefully i will be able to have that done by this weekend  its not finished but i thought i would share some pics....

Looks great!

First thing I would recomend doing is getting one of yotachumps(CDW) skidplates off RCC. It will triangulate the lowers and almost elimate the axle swing.

I bet the new Losi Carvers would look good on there, they would retain some performance but look better than the claws imho.

I like the color

thanks guys!!!

now that i think about it...its got a aftermarket aluminum skid on it now with notches to mount the links inside the frame. i first started building it like that, but soon figured out it was going to be too long. i had to set it up for the shortest wheelbase possible. you can see the rod ends almost touch

thanks man!

ive still got a few changes to make that i can see already.... im thinking about cutting the flares off so the tires will have more room to move. and im going to atleast mount the rear shocks inside the frame rails to get a little more flex out of it...might do the front the same way.

I cut the flares off my bronco and it looks ok. If you want a softop for this then you can have the on i made for my bronco. I am not using it.

looks good but you need to paint the green bars black or something that matches IMHO

Can't go wrong with Drano Gel. works wonders on that nasty green alum. To get your wheel base correct for that HPI body and run inboard lower links your gonna have to make/modify a skid yourself or buy one that lets you mount the rod ends further inside the skid ( furhter than yotachumps, hot racing or STRC skids) without messing with the four screws that mount the trans itself. I did it to my stock skid to fit my all my broncos on the X-trail and have it perform good on the rocks etc... it looked like complete crap and seemed abit flexy butit worked. :beerbuddy:

Looks good so far. I would just shorten the lower links or make new ones that let you mount them inside the chassis.

How are you liking the tires? Also what wheels are you running? I will have you some good scale competition in a week or two...

And it isn't the CJ8... I have something else up my sleeve... :ph43r: :D

MSD wheels. the tires are decent...i like them better than the stompers i had on the toyota even though that might be because of the retarded wheel speed of the bronco  id still trade them for a set of trail doc's anyday...
