[The whole way back from Rome was filled with discomfort. I sat in my seat on the airplane and even though Martha sat next to me, looking radiant, I could barely move. It seemed as if splinters were still in my back when I went crashing through the announce table, although they were removed the next morning at a local hospital in Rome. Of course I was taken good care of, as is every patient, but wood is not fun to get out of the skin. I should know being that I’ve been through plenty of tables in my career. What…did the Syndicate believe they were doing something brand spanking new? Did they believe that I’d be completely taken out so I wouldn’t be able to return for Rise to Greatness to face their leader Omarion Denton? Or face one of the other members in Shyne for this week’s Breakdown? Well, they didn’t get their wish, especially Omarion. He WILL have to deal with me on the grandest stage of them all and he’ll get all of it and then some. I’m called the Master of the Moment for a reason. As far as Shyne goes, he’ll want to be back in Chicago by the time Breakdown ends. Much like how Dallas Nash was denied the big win, Shyne will suffer the same consequence… He too will be able to blame Denton for getting himself mixed up with one of SCW’s finest and most decorated champions. And we all saw what Dallas Nash thought of the rest of the Syndicate and their actions against me… He just stood there…not helping them out.] [On the flip side, as of right now, Martha’s doing her best to make me feel better. Her hand is slowly rubbing up and down my back, massaging it with a purpose. Every time she crosses the middle part of the back, I wince a tiny drop. The pain has subsided somewhat from several days ago, but it’s still there.] Martha: It still hurts Jay? Jay: Yeah, but I’ll live. I’ve been through worse than this. Both of us have… Martha: I know. Don’t remind me… [She’s right…no need to dredge up old rotten memories, especially since the hoodlum has since made his return, even though I DID force his ass to retire. But now…now I’m basically dealing with the same kind of people…rats from the streets; scum of the lowest kind. At least Dallas Nash showed his true colors and proved to me that he was a respectful man. First the handshake and second the step-off… He’s shown that he’s longer interested in Denton’s underhanded tactics. Perhaps both Carrington and Shyne should have taken note before it was too late… Maybe THIS week in Omaha, the remains of the Syndicate will finally have the hint implanted in the brain; although still it will be way too late for Omarion… His, as CHBK puts it, “destiny” doesn’t look positive…only negative.] [I turn carefully, though still with some backlash of pain, and look out the window. All that’s down below is the Atlantic Ocean for hundreds and hundreds of miles…perhaps thousands. Eventually though we’ll be over the United States once again, heading for Nebraska. For now though, there isn’t much to see…not for most people anyway... For me down below, I see the crashing waves, wondering what’s beneath them. I’m always looking to see new things, but the Syndicate; they’ve only brought up things that have happened to both me and Martha in the past. I’ve dealt with their kind before. Disappointed I turn my head slowly back around to face Martha, again with that back pain. She sees me wincing and puts on a bit of a sad puppy dog face. I know…she wants to see me happy and healthy…not as a hunchback, wanting to exact revenge once again on a group that wants to be nothing but a trio of copycats.] Martha: So…did you find what you were looking for? Jay: No. Just the waves crashing, over and over again… I was hoping for the winds of change to pick up, you know? [Martha’s silent, not knowing how to respond.] Jay: Of course not though…this business, wrestling, it’s all about lather, rinse, repeat. It’s a never ending cycle that one can get sick of after time. That same cycle drives people to their limits, wanting to offer up something new and different that no one has seen before. Martha: And let me guess…you want to show a bit of that unpredictability again. Jay: Exactly. Now I know…I should be happy with how I’ve done throughout my wrestling career, especially with the SCW. I’ve been every champion possible; held basically every type of title…lightweight, intercontinental, United States, hardcore, tag, and the grand daddy of them all, the heavyweight. Yet still…it doesn’t satisfy my craving. I’ve come back for more because I feel that I’m just coming into my prime…that’s scary considering I’ve already been a Heavyweight Champion. Dallas Nash last week on Breakdown got to witness first hand that this is the case…that I’ve returned to show my muscle and make my way back to the top. No one thinks I can do it; no believes in me except for you and Sparkle. Everyone dubs me as an underachiever…but look throughout my career Martha. I’ve had to face many of those that thought they could beat me…but they didn’t. Dean Black, Jase the Ace, City Boy, and James Toreno are only four examples… If the remainder of the Syndicate wants to know it all…I’ll tell them; just not yet… Shyne isn’t worthy of the explanation. Omarion’s the one that needs to know what he’s getting into…only Omarion. [Again Martha is dead silent and turns her attention to a book that rests in her hands, so I take the opportunity to continue…] Jay: Denton, I know you were hoping that you wouldn’t have to face me at Rise to Greatness. You thought that I’d be damaged enough so I wouldn’t show this upcoming Sunday at Qualcomm, but you’re wrong. I’ve dealt with a major amount of pain in my career… Omarion…hell, you too Shyne…I’ve been in TWO elimination chambers during my SCW career. I’ve been in a War Games match…and a Hell’s Kitchen match, which I won! That shows the both of you that I can be just as hardcore, and just as nasty as the both of you were to me this past week back in Rome! Don’t say that you weren’t warned. If you can remember Denton, before Taking Hold of the Flame, I showed you a piece of what I’ve been through. I’ve fought my demons on a street before and I’ve come out victorious. Even though Martha sustained the AIDS virus one week earlier when she was kidnapped, I poured my heart, body, and soul in to make sure that the perpetrator didn’t get another chance to commit another crime against my wife. That should be proof enough Denton to show that both you and Shyne are in loads of trouble. If Carrington wants a shot at me…him too. [My eyes keep on Martha’s hair for now, since her eyes are completely buried within the pages. Must be an interesting read… Guess I’ll talk to Shyne…he could use the advice.] Jay: Leaving your esteemed leader behind for now Shyne, this Breakdown is about you and me. Last week, you had the frickin’ BALLS to help toss me through the announce table. But this week, you’ll have to pay the price and suffer the repercussions Shyne… Dallas Nash won’t be there to help you; he saw the light and didn’t assist you last Wednesday. As for Carrington, he’ll be busy with Speed. Denton will be the only one remaining to do any damage, but believe you me; he won’t be much of a factor. My sights are fully set on YOU once I get into that ring Shyne. And get it right…I’m not Christian Idol… If you think Idol’s all that SCW has to offer, you’re sadly mistaken. Any misfit from Roberts’ Real Wrestling Revolution is NOT considered the best around here. None of them have ever won the big one… Lesnar has never defeated me and as far as James Toreno goes Shyne…he beat me ONE TIME. I avenged that loss and pinned his ass to gain my second United States Championship. That should give you the big picture Shyne. Defeating Christian Idol is not accomplishing anything…it’s a small start for you here in the SCW…but it’s not impressive. [Martha peers up from her book and smiles, but then returns to her reading…seeing that I’m focused and dialed in on both of my opponents for the upcoming week…] Jay: Shyne, although you claim to be an in-ring warrior, I have yet to know your full potential. But seriously, even though I don’t know all that much about you, you’re in the same boat when it comes to me. I fight even HARDER than you do in that ring. I don’t need to be a street thug like you, Carrington, Denton or any of Relentless. You call yourself determined; I’m going to call your bluff there Jamal. You have to PROVE yourself if you want to go up here in the SCW. Dallas Nash had his golden opportunity last week, but it ended in a Golden Moment. It’s dejavu all over again for the Syndicate this week…only twice, not one time. [I breathe, just as a small cart comes rolling down the aisle, a stewardess pushing it along. She stops at our row and asks Martha if she wants anything.] Martha: No thank you. Jay, would you like a snack? Jay: I guess a bag of trail mix would be good… [The stewardess passes it over to me and continues on her trek. I open up the bag and pop a couple of nuts and raisins into my mouth. As I chew, again I have that wondrous look…looking ahead at what might happen…] Jay: It’s not all about SCW ratings Shyne. You need to realize that it’s about success and the glory of being known as not only a champion, but a LEGEND! Just about everyone in SCW and the world knows my name, but what do they know about you? That you’re from Chicago and that you’ve taken out Christian Idol… Shyne, I don’t care about what you’ve done in the past. Your performance against me at Breakdown will show what you’re about…unfortunately, you won’t be able to show much, because in the flash of an eye, quicker than you can look for Omarion at ring side, you’ll be flat on the mat…on the receiving end of the Golden Moment…the move that has put so many away and will continue to do so as we go to Rise to Greatness and beyond… I’m not so sure about you Shyne, but I’M determined; I’M ready for you, and when the time comes…another member of the Syndicate will be forced to realize the truth. This time I won’t be going through the announce table; there will be no gang assault… On Wednesday, you, Carrington, and Denton won’t end up with the last word… [I dump my hand back in the trail mix pouch as Martha places a hand on my left leg. This time it’s my turn to smile for her. She appreciates the fact that I’m able to show some contentment, despite feeling some obvious pain…a pain that will lift as another piece of the Syndicate tastes defeat…] |
