Nick, I'm not trying to start a flame war, but I just wanted to say that your judgment of Mark is very unfair.

First of all, you had the opportunity to redeem yourself at Retribution when the main events were supposed to be Cherry/Scythe and Weapon/CHBK where the winners would face off for the SCW Championship. Unfortunately, you decided to pack your bags and walk out of here, screwing over the main event picture again.

Oh, and just in case anyone forgets, I find it extremely unfair for you to say that he just fucked off SCW and dropped the title like it meant nothing. First of all, he was getting married and that was his plan all along. As we've said a lot here, life is more important than e-fedding.

However, I find this judgment of yours unfair and quite funny when prior to Tactical Terror 2005 (which never happened), you left as the SCW Champion after some stupid stint with Adam Riddick and some flame wars on the OOC Boards.

Mark is a generally good guy, and I'd appreciate it if you showed a little more respect for his decision considering some decisions you've made in the past.

Just an aside, I do believe that Mark had let management know that his intentions were to wind down his career here, that he was planning to retire before his wedding. It was up to management from there how to book him, and they booked him in the main event scene and enabled him to become champion. Implying that he won the belt then scooted off without warning and treating the title as a cheap whore (my own words) is unfair to him.

Alright, before I go and hang out with my girlfriend, I get to deal with this.

First off, just to build off what Mark originally had said, this thread has officially proved it. Someone says something borderline offensive and it's taken personally. Sid asked me earlier today what I liked more. SCW back when it started or SCW now and I said, for the shows and characters and roleplays, the SCW now wins hands down. For OOC, SCW back when I started wins extremely easily.

Back then there were no (or EXTREMELY few) flame wars and few people took things personally. They had fun, we had fun topics on the OOC boards and people all roleplayed and just had fun doing it. Whether you do e-fedding for competition or for fun, it really comes down to do something you enjoy.

Now to officially clean up messes. Nick left in October 2005 because I fired him after a flame war. Nick also told me that he was limited in the time he had around Retribution 2006, and we had talked about it and I had actually suggest that creatively speaking, it would be easier for me to have him leave instead of stick around and do something he'd be disappointed with. He agreed and that's what happened. It was done as a mutual agreement because we both realized his time was immensely evaporating. As for Mark, Mark told me when he first came to SCW that he was going to be retiring from e-fedding at the end of April. He told me that and even understood if I didn't give him a title shot. I elected to suggest it to Adam, who was booking Hostility at the time prior to Retribution, when I saw the success he was having. Mark even asked if he wanted me to storyline the ending of the Out of Control main event to have a champion crowned and I said, not to worry, I decided to book you as champion and give you that shot, if you win at Out of Control, you retire as champion and it's my problem to deal with.

Anyway, now that the truth is out, I suggest that we go back and look at my original point made. Anyway, I'm going to go to my girlfriend's and relax. Hopefully people can actually be civil during that time.

I'm giving this a bump so people can give it another read-over. In case it was missed the first time.

*Raises a glass to Nick*

Here’s to missing the ENTIRE point of my original post and proving why I can’t stand this game any longer. The fact that you responded in the manner you did, not once but TWICE, only further confirms my initial fear that my words would fall on deaf ears.

What saddens me the most is that we could have had a good friendship, and worked some pretty sweet angles in SCW, but you made this about a rivalry, that all started because I chose to post a third role-play when you didn’t want me to. Had we decided on a preset amount of rps, I would have stuck to that without hesitation. But on that particular week I had based my strategy on posting three, and wasn’t about to abandon that because you simply ran short on time (and you did approach me the day before deadline about an rp limit). That was your fault, not mine. And I hardly feel that it was an act of poor sportsmanship on my part.

As far as the SCW Championship is concerned, I’d like to think I carried it with a great deal of dignity for the short time I had it. What you fail to mention is that I specifically asked Oleksa to have Baron defend it each and every week until my departure, for the purpose and privilege of defending it first of all (as I was happy to do), as well as the possibility of losing it to a better role-player if it so happened to pan out that way (and I almost did lose it to Hunter). Olek knew I was leaving at the end of April, but he was still quite willing to give Baron a shot, and for that I am truly grateful.

To return to my first post, my original point was this: Why can’t we role-play and write for the sake of the interaction rather than simply the competition? Even Olek has expressed to me how the fun for him is in the creative process and the match and angle writing. I wish more people approached the game like him. I believe there is a great deal to be had in that endeavor, rather than our efforts solely leaning towards one-uping each other all the time. The banter has proven fruitless, producing nothing more than long-winded threads of maliciousness (like this one).

I’m not convinced someone with your track record carries a great deal of credibility on this particular topic, Nick, let alone to question someone like myself who has always pursued the avenue of fairness in this game. But I can almost guarantee that you will perpetuate this very grievance I spoke out against – that of continually posting and insulting me (your colleague) because you HAVE to be right. I hope one day you’ll learn how to exercise a little humility.

As for me, this will be my final post in this thread, as I see no need to reply and further fuel this quickly growing fire. I was simply stating an opinion, hoping that those of you who I would like to think respect me (for my conduct of character, not my role-play ability) might take heed and act more kindly towards one another.

Good job, Nick! I guess I don’t have your respect… if only I hadn’t posted that third role-play eh?

Thanks Cherry for backing me up. At least I know you value our friendship.

Mark <><

PS – Sorry Oleksa for starting something by trying to be a sobering voice. I apologize for all this nonsense. I didn’t mean to start a flame war.
