The line at the CROSSROADS MOVIE 8 was huge. Apparently the summer movie season had started and Samantha hadn’t realized it. Arriving an hour before the movie start time was her plan all along and she was glad she hadn’t rethought that idea, since there were lines all over the place. Wasn’t this a second run theater? Why were all of these movies still getting a ton of viewer ship even though they had been out? Either way, Samantha decided that she was going to watch the movie “Grindhouse” for the second time. She had heard that Robert Rodriguez was going to issue a re-cut of the second movie on the twin bill, “Death Proof. It had peaked Samantha’s interest, and since she was in Oklahoma City with nothing to do she decided to try and beat the rain and stay where it was dry and air conditioned. Her time in Oklahoma City had been interesting thus far; the southern accents had been amusing to her, as had the Oklahoman reaction to her New England accent. People are continuously asked her where she was from, inquiring with a deep sense of interest. It was surprising to her. When you go to the movies by yourself – people have the keen interest as to whether or not you’re weird, or whether or not you’ve come to the movie in order to record a bootleg version of it. Samantha had decided that because she had a match in a day or so that she wouldn’t be the one to train incessantly but relax…as usual. Standing in line, Samantha grabbed her notebook out of her pocket and started writing the scene around her. After she’d seen the good Dr. Rosenblatt again – they decided that there needed to be some way that he could keep track of her once she was in a new city to wrestle. May 29, 2007 Things have started in Oklahoma City the way that they always do when I get to a new town. I’m feeling well since Dr. R put me on the Paxil…but I’m not quite sure what the side effects of this are going to be but I’m willing to give this a try. I’m kind of scared these days…but maybe with me getting out my frustrations by wrestling and relaxing I can become a regular person? It’s a constant battle, finding the weakness in my opponents and exploiting them. I find myself finding joy in wreaking havoc with the psyche of myself and others…but how can I get this to translate into a victory? I took hold of Liana Lewis and was able to counteract the interference from the Dynasty and translate that into a win? How long will this be able to continue? I think… Samantha was interrupted by the line for the cinema, which began moving as soon as the ticket window’s shade rose. Each time that Samantha tried getting back to her notebook the line moved ahead of her. Sighing, she realized that this of course wasn’t going to be the time for her to complete her task…the thoughts however kept swirling in her head. As each of the patrons received their show’s tickets, the line moved ahead…sort of like some weird assembly line. “Hey!” The Southern drawl caught itself in the air and radiated in Samantha’s ear drums, and she found herself rolling her eyes annoyed. “Hey! Hey! Samantha! Samantha made a face and turned around trying to glance…but not quite look at who was calling to her. It was no use however…the man decided that he was going to get out of line and walk over to her. He was about six foot, five inches tall and was wearing a cowboy hat…which was a total turn off to Samantha. Not that she was looking at him like that though… Cowboy: “I thought that was you! You’re Samantha Stevens, right?” Samantha nodded, and stepped back a couple steps from him. The man acknowledged this and gave her space. Cowboy: “Alright, I see that you’re kind of freaked out…and I can understand that. That’s why I’m giving you space. Haven’t you ever been spotted out and about? I mean, your name is becoming kind of famous.” Samantha: “Well, I suppose you’re right. The things is, is that I hate being noticed…it helps me blend in more if I go where I think wrestling fans won’t be. Either way, I’m Samantha Stevens…as you’ve already pointed out. It’s nice to meet you.” Samantha extended her hand to the man to shake. It was reciprocated. Cowboy: “Well, my name is Bobby. Pretty yokel name, I know… but I’m just thankful it’s not one of those two name first names. Like Bobby-Joe or Billy Bob…or something like that. Either way, it’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Samantha.” Samantha raised her eyebrows, sort of stunned at Southern hospitality…and nodded her head at him. Samantha: “Miss Samantha, eh? Nice…nice… You see I’m not used to the whole being nice thing. You know how the rest of the country sees us New Englanders… we’re bitchy.” Bobby: “While that’s true… [laughs] I’m still pretty excited that I ran into you. Wrestling fans are pretty numerous when it comes to Oklahoma. I know a few promoters who have started running their own Indy shows… we just aspire to what SCW and Majestic have accomplished around the country…and actually across the globe. You might now realize it Samantha, but millions of people watch you wrestle every week. I mean, I know I do.” Samantha takes in what he’s saying, nodding along with him. Samantha: “So what movie are you seeing? I had decided to see Grindhouse…well…for the second time. I couldn’t get enough of it the first time.” Bobby: “Well actually, I came here with a group of my friends…all wrestling fans. We came to watch The Reaping…but I’m flexible. Let me go and talk to them, alright? I’ll talk to them and let them know that there’s been a change of plans. Well…if you’ll have me. Samantha nodded…what the hell was there to lose, really? He was a person to watch and discuss the movie with…and maybe get a bite to eat afterwards? Either way, she watched Bobby walk over to his friends and explain the situation to them. They responded with a few catcalls, but apparently understood. They let him be as he walked back over to Samantha, who had almost neared the front of the line. Ticket Taker: “How can I help you?” Samantha took out a couple of fives and paid for her ticket…then thinking about it again, grabbed out a twenty from her jeans and slapped it down on the counter. Samantha: “Two for Grindhouse, please.” Bobby began to protest, but Samantha shushed him. [/color] Samantha: “Oh, don’t worry. You’re really not getting off scott free you know…You’re buying the food. Movie food is a favorite of mine.” This led to a ten minute discussion about food from the concession stand. After a few minutes and deciding on a medium popcorn, nachos, a bag of Reese’s Pieces and two large Pepsi’s they were finally able to make their way to Theater Nine. Bobby: “Jesus…you really do like your snacks, don’t you?” Samantha stopped abruptly and turned around. Samantha: “Actually Bobby, I could fill up a novel with all of the shit you don’t know about me. Too many guys think I'm a concept, or I complete them, or I'm gonna make them alive. But I'm just a fucked-up girl who's looking' for my own piece of mind; don't assign me yours. Until then…let’s just go and watch a movie, ok? I promise...you can interrogate me later about SCW.” Bobby held up his full arms and nodded. Samantha nodded back and she turned around, starting to walk. Thank goodness for stadium seating they both commented and then sat down in a couple of comfortable seats. Previews began and they settled down to watch the movie… About 195 minutes later… Samantha came through the doors first of the two of them. They had only been in the theater with a couple of other people and had annoyed them a little…due to their constant gabbing. The theater manager actually had to come in and tell them that they needed to be quiet or they would be forced to remove them. After a bit of hemming and hawing they decided to move up to the back of the theater and text message each other about the way the movies were going. Bobby looked a little green after seeing a disgusting zombie movie, and Samantha was a little shaken after watching a serial killer flick. Bobby: “Shit…that movie was insane. You say, that you’ve watched this before? That was so excellent…I mean, I was impressed with the machine gun leg. That’s some pretty hot stuff right there.” Samantha shook her head at him and laughed. She found it interesting that he was so weirded out by the fact that she had seen the movie more then once… why was that a big deal? Watching something like that was the reason why she loved movies... Either way, Bobby was quite interesting to her. She wasn’t sure what it was, but the fact that he cared to even listen to what she was saying was something. Right? Bobby: “So Miss Samantha, just what would you like to eat this evening? I mean, there are a ton of places to go and eat at. What’s your fancy?” Samantha: “Why don’t we go and grab some pizza? I think we can chat there if you want. Does this place serve beer?” “Sure does.” Bobby called over his shoulder, already on his way down the street. They walked for a couple of miles and finally made their way to VINNY’S PIZZA AND BEER. They went from scanning the drafts…ordering a whole pepperoni pizza…just enjoying the environment. Samantha was astonished that they were getting along so well. They had a ton in common…things Samantha wouldn’t even have dreamed of. Bobby: “So I was happy to see that you had joined the New Blood Rebellion. I mean, Xander Valentine is no man to fuck with. Jesus…and now there’s a war with the Dynasty…c’mon now. I’m glad that you were able to withstand Liana kicking your ass last week though.” Samantha got a shocked look on her face and was able to throw a cheese fry at him before he could get another word out. Samantha: “You’re an asshole. You know that? Either way, this week’s match is sort-of my start with the Cherry Pit Crew. I mean, they’ve gone and started a nice fresh fight with everyone under the sun…and now Xander is battling with Mr. Greg Cherry for his title, I’m just a blip on that radar. I mean, coming along with me for the ride is of course, Mr. Jack Campbell. Jack has been noteworthy as of late because of his double crossing ways. He fucked over Lenne Perez, and totally made people hate him even more then they do now. You know that there’s a reason for everything right? I think that there is a reason why Campbell and I are matched together is because there has to be somewhere for the war to start. He and I are mere pawns in something much larger then us. Something even stronger. However, with the powers shifting in SCW…we will know what exactly we have to do. I’ll fight him, and I’ll win. He can have anyone out at ringside, and I’ll figure out a way to overcome it. I am not afraid of that, and I am not afraid of what might happen to me if I get in their way. Last week, Liana and I squared off. The lowest of the low in Dynasty’s ranks and now I’m facing Jack Campbell. Interesting that I need to face them. How long before I start showing some of that promise that everyone sees in me? I don’t know. Samantha’s shoulder sagged slightly at the last remark, and she decided to down the rest of her pint of beer…motioning to the bartender for another one. Bobby didn’t quite know what to think…he thought highly of Samantha, knowing that she fought in the ring as an equal to all of those who had come before her. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to make her feel the same way though. He had just begin to slide around the booth…maybe to put his arm around her…and maybe to comfort her. He hadn’t decided yet. But… …Can …things …can …change …? Samantha snapped out of a fog that she was in and sat up with a start. The feelings of nausea stabbed into her stomach like a million little needles, all poking her at the same time. It was hell. Pure hell. She glanced at her clock and glazed at it until the number went into focus. 4:32 AM. How long had she been out? She was trying to figure that out, while trying to swallow some sort of spit. Nothing was happening. Sever cotton mouth it would seem. She struggled a bit but finally found a half drunken bottle of Pepsi on the end table. Ah…thank God. Her throat was clear. In spite of all of the garbage in the hotel room, only one thing could be hardly called trash was a beat up blue notebook. Single subject. A scrawled SAM was on the cover. She grabbed it and opened it to the latest dog-eared page. May 29, 2007 CAN’T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. CAN’T GET AHOLD OF DOCTOR ROSENBLATT. WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW? I DON’T KNOW HOW TO STOP THIS. I NEED TO STABLIZE. Alright, I feel better now…I just had to get that scrawl out on paper. Where was I? Ah yes, I feel as though I’m hitting rock bottom. The one and only constant is being in the ring. Thank God I have that. Jack Campbell is my opponent this week. Interestingly, he’s apart of the Cherry Pit Crew, one of the other groups vying for SCW supremacy. I know that as long as I’m focused on how the match goes…I’ll be the winning with a few moves up my sleeve. Seems like I don’t get outside much anymore. True…it is. Don’t know how to change it. What should I do? I’m so lost. All that I can see is success in the ring…but no more success then that. I’ve been dreaming of what life should be like. What I need it to be. I wish… -Samantha |

It worked to perfection. That whole match against David Grenier was a perfectly executed plan from the beginning. Lenne bought it hook, line and sinker. I knew it would work, because she believed that we would accept her for what she was. She was holding us back and Greg knew it. Now with her gone, the CPC can move forward with the only real dominant female in SCW and that would be Ashley. Yeah, about a month and a half ago, I would have never said that, but I’m at a different point in my life. So the Cherry Pit Crew has gotten stronger and I have the feeling that it will continue to do so. Samantha Stevens had that chance, but she took the cowardice root and joined the New Blood Rebellion where she would be held back by Xander, because he’s too focused on pushing himself forward. She made the cowardly decision by joining them because nobody will even know she’s there. Calli Bennett is the Women’s Champion for now, so what’s she? She’s just there. In the Cherry Pit Crew, she would have meant something. She would have been a part of the team, not tossed aside because the leader was too arrogant to see her talents. Yes, Greg is arrogant and he has a right to be, but he’s also smart. He recognizes the talent that the rest of this group has and he uses as an asset, not as a last resort. We help Greg out because he would do the same for us. As far as Samantha is concerned, she made the wrong decision and it will cost her week in and week out as people forget that she exists and she loses match after match, because she doesn’t have a mentor, but rather a tyrant as her leader. She’ll know that she made a bad choice. How? I’ll make sure to tell her as I kick her ass. Eddie: Samantha Stevens, huh? I guess the boss wanted to take it easy on you this week, huh? Jack: Yeah, like that was a big thought on his mind. He was probably busy rubbing his hands or rubbing something else to the thought of Xander and Greg at Taking Hold of the Flame. Eddie: He would be doing that. Listen, both of us better start preparing for Taking Hold of the Flame, too. We’re both in the battle royal. Jack: I know that, but the thing is, we don’t know how much we have to prepare. I mean, granted, we both should prepare like we’re number one and number two. Eddie: Yeah, but think about this. If we draw the first two numbers, then we’ll just work together and eliminate everyone else. Jack: It’s a tedious process, but yeah, that’s what we’d have to do. Eddie: So is that ideal or would we rather draw #29 and #30? Jack: The thing with drawing late numbers or even numbers far away from each other is that one of us might be gone before another one of us reaches the ring. Hopefully that doesn’t happen. Eddie: Like one of us drawing #1 and the other #30? Jack: Do you know how badly that would suck? Eddie: Well, considering the #1 entrant has won the last two years in a row… Greg popped his head out of the bathroom door and looked at both of us. Cherry: He shouldn’t have won last year! Jack: I forgot you were in here. Eddie: Yeah, we were just talking about Taking Hold of the Flame. Cherry: Well, trust me. You two losing is not as big of a deal as me losing. Remember, I’m the one with the most to lose in this situation. Sure, if one of you two wins Taking Hold of the Flame, then more power to you. If Ashley wins the Women’s Title, that’s great, but the fact of the matter is, I have to beat Xander. There’s no ifs ands or buts about it. In order to get the longest title reign in the company’s history, I have to beat the person who right now holds that record. Do you understand me? Eddie: Yeah. Jack: Perfectly clear. Cherry: Good, now before worrying about Taking Hold of the Flame, you should worry about Samantha Stevens. That’s the way we’ve always done things. We don’t look past opponents. We can look down on them as if they are nothing and 99 times out of 99, they are. However, we need to build up as much momentum as possible for June 10th because that will be a huge night for all of us, I hope. If everything goes as planned, I will still be champion, Ashley will be Women’s Champion and one of the Crew is going to win Taking Hold of the Flame. Jack: What about the other one of us? Like if I win Taking Hold of the Flame and Eddie doesn’t, then what will he do? Cherry: Be the special referee for our main event? I don’t know. Listen, we’ll figure this out later. I have stuff to deal with. I’m facing Xander in a week and a half, Jay Gold is back in SCW, because the son of a bitch can’t just hang it up and I just have a ton of shit that I have to figure out. Plus, I have to start informing Grenier of our plan to take over SCW. I’ll talk to you guys later. Greg turned to leave the room and then he poked his head back inside and looked at me again. Cherry: By the way, somebody better check the bathroom. I think the last people in here used the bathroom for um…how should I put this…sex. So I hope you haven’t washed your hands, because it’s covered with some sort of juice or something. On that note…bye. Greg left the room as I looked at my hands, horrified. Jack: Eddie? Eddie: Yeah? Jack: Remind me to boil my hands. Eddie: Not a problem. Jack: So I have a little New Blood Rebellion business to deal with, don’t I? Eddie: Yeah you do. It makes me wish that we were tag teaming in this match so that we both could show the New Blood Rebellion who the stronger stable is. Jack: You know it’s us. Sure, they have quantity in championships, but we have the quality. We have the only title that matters and it’s what everyone wants but can’t have. It has to be eating at Xander and his New Blood Rebellion that they can’t have that one too. Eddie: This isn’t about Xander, though. It’s about Samantha. Jack: It’s not directly about Xander, but it is about his latest recruit and his latest lackey, Samantha Stevens, who doesn’t seem to realize what she’s gotten herself into. She knows that she’s with the New Blood Rebellion so I give her points on knowing her surroundings, but she doesn’t know who she’s with. She’s with the most arrogant and overrated superstars of them all with Caleb Andrews, who despite being Underground Champion, hasn’t amounted to a hill of beans in recent weeks. You have Calli Bennett who defends her title once every 90 years against a mediocre opponent and then faces guys and loses to them. You have Damian Angel, who as sad as it may seem, is the most impressive of the group despite not doing much of something I like to call “main eventing.” You used to have Dillusion, but thanks to the current champion and one of my best friends Greg Cherry, he’s gone. Then, you have Xander Valentine, a man who wrestles when he absolutely has to. I mean, let’s be honest. It’s like he wrestles one match a month and then takes time off to let Oleksa give him a back rub. Then, there’s you, Samantha Stevens, another up and comer from Majestic. You consider it a career highlight that you joined a group like the New Blood Rebellion. That alone means that you have no desire to succeed. If you wanted to become the SCW Women’s Champion, then you wouldn’t side with the group she’s in. You fail to realize that joining the New Blood Rebellion pretty much crushed all your dreams from the get go. Congratulations for not having the thought process to realize this. Why didn’t you join the Cherry Pit Crew? We could have found a nice home for you and you wouldn’t be treated like a lackey, but you’d be treated as an equal, much like Kayl and Grenier. I had respect for you before you decided to take the scaredy cat way out of things and hide behind a monster. You showed me just how much you feared success, because instead of fighting against the biggest, you hope no one sees you behind them. It doesn’t make sense to me, because you seemed like a woman who would do anything to become the best, but you’re just not that smart, are you? You think that you’re going to beat me so easily, but you have no idea what you’re getting into. If this was a perfect world and we had a boss who didn’t want to fuck us over, Eddie and I would be standing here with Tag Team Championships around our waist. We are a successful team and we have beaten some of the best tag teams to ever run through this company, so don’t think that I’m going to stand here and take your crap that you are going to easily defeat me. You were right about one thing and that is that you are a blip on the radar. You are not someone who is going to make an impact and I don’t think I have to explain to you again why that is the case. You asked the question “How long will it take before everyone sees the promise in you?” Well, potential doesn’t always amount to a successful career. You have all the potential in the world and you potentially blew that opportunity with your first decision in this company. You see, we are not like Dynasty in the sense that I need to have the entire Cherry Pit Crew out at ringside with me. We don’t care about the rules, but somehow, we manage to follow them and still end up victorious. Does that mean we’re hypocrites? No, it just means that we’re that damn good. We don’t have to follow the rules, but we do anyway. Why? We’re proving a point. We are the most talented stable in SCW and tomorrow night on Breakdown, you will know first hand that it is much better to be with us than against us. Samantha Stevens, all in all, that brings me to something that you should’ve gotten from my entire lecture to you. I hate you. Don’t feel special, though, because I hate everybody. Eddie: I never understood why she decided to do that. Jack: She didn’t know enough about us and our mission. All she knew was the hype of the New Blood Rebellion. She was too lazy to do any research. Need any other reasons, because I can keep going? Eddie: I’m good. Jack: Yeah, well, she won’t be tomorrow night. Eddie nodded and he went into the bathroom to check the sink. He walked outside the room to find a cleaning lady to get whatever it was out of the sink. I don’t know what it was and quite honestly, I think it’s better that I don’t know. One way or the other, I’m going to make sure that Samantha Stevens ends up like this sink in a few moments…wiped completely clean and forgotten about hours later. |
