The Unknown Nightmare

[No one saw it coming. I didn’t see it happening in a billion years, but when Mr. Drachewych wants to sit the people in the seats, he promises each and every single one of those people out there that something surprising is going to happen. That it did last week on Breakdown. I came to the arena only expecting for Damian Angel to try and crucify me just like he did to that worthless sack of crap, The Real Speed. But by the end of the night…sure I lost to Damian Angel, but I survived that war and went on to be the victor in the main event. I won the Underground Championship, further cementing my legacy in Supreme Championship Wrestling. As of right now, there are no more different titles for me to win. I’ve captured them all, becoming the first man or woman to ever do such a feat. Ever since I left the arena that night, I’ve been swarmed by the media at every turn. You would think that I was the SCW World Champion and that Jason Wheeler was nothing. Now I don’t believe that one bit. I can respect Wheeler for what he’s done for the SCW, just like he respects me.]

[Ah, but now, these moments and this week aren’t about Wheeler. Once again I find myself facing the muddled mess that is the Syndicate. You would think they would have learned their lesson by now to avoid me…especially Shyne. Seriously, how many times do I have to whip Shyne around like a government mule before he gets it? Last year he won because of interference. That’s his lone win against me. You know…this is slowly turning into another of those Jay Gold vs. City Boy rivalries, with the opposite side going over my once… And for City Boy’s case, the only time he beat me was in a match that he ended up losing in too!]

[It’s like a reoccurring theme. First City Boy, second Shyne, and low and behold…another man who barely got the duke over me before Apocalypse in Juan Ramirez. He and Shyne proceeded to hang me from the ropes of the wrestling ring, attempting to make a statement, but in the end, Shyne was the one left bloody at Apocalypse. I showed the wrestling world that I was clearly back. Little did I know at that point that Mr. Drachewych would see me fit to have a chance at the SCW Underground Championship. But hey, I’ll take it as it comes. Besides, I’m now known as the only SCW Supreme Champion. The only person close…no need for a drum roll…Jason Wheeler. As far as Juan Ramirez and Shyne go…they aren’t even on the map in that retrospect. Juan failed so many times to win the SCW Underground Title from the Real Speed that it’s not even funny. Meanwhile on my first in around four years, I did what no one was expecting. I completed my collection, although my journey of a wrestling career…that’s far from over. I can’t give up this dream. Martha knows that I’d be miserable if I did. And I wouldn’t be setting a good example for Sarah Vixen… I want her to grow up and be proud of her father, because who knows…she might be a wrestler and a future Women’s Champion…just like her beautiful, passionate mother. Like mother, like daughter…]

[On the flip side, look at the Syndicate…they keep believing that they can improve and improve, but all they have done is win the tag team championships. If say myself and anyone else on the roster teamed up, even that pansy Greg Cherry, we’d take the titles away from them like candy’s taken from a baby’s hands! It’s only fitting that I have this one last match against Shyne this weekend at Tactical Terror. It will show him and Michael Carrington that it’s only a matter of time before the Syndicate loses the tag team titles. After I retain the Underground Title, The Real Speed will be no doubt the next one on my docket…but I’ll take things one day at a time. First up, to get rid of another old demon… You do know that their can only be ONE Golden Boy in the SCW. Little clue…that athlete’s name is NOT Juan Ramirez…]

[The usually peaceful Midwest is actually quite noisy this afternoon. Outside the skies have darkened and the storms are moving in. Martha and I can already hear very loud rumbles of thunder in the distance. She plops her sexy ass down on the bed as I just stand at the window, looking out, waiting for that first gush of rain to come. Tornadoes aren’t scheduled, so that’s one relief at least.]

Martha: So what should we do? We can’t go out there and they allowed the café downstairs to close early. They just closed up their pool yesterday. And I wanted to swim too…

[I look back in her direction to see a forlorn look coming upon her face. I turn my back to the window and go to comfort my lady. Can’t let her stay sad… Besides, she’s not alone…she has me, just like I have her. I lay my right arm around her shoulders and pull her that touch bit closer.]

Martha: Awwww…

Jay: I don’t really know what to do either babe. Maybe reminisce?

Martha: We always look to the past. How about the future? Hardly anyone thinks of it and it’s right there before us all the time… And we can do things to change it… That’s the best thing.

[She freely falls down to the white pillows below and takes me with her. This actually is quite nice…now if only those storms were gone and out of our way. Then this moment would be perfect. We look into each other’s eyes. She sees that I’m wearing just a regular pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt. She’ll always be considered my better half, especially now though. Martha looked dashing on the dance floor but even in this every day situation, she looks absolutely delicious in a dark blue mini-skirt with a matching spaghetti string top. Mmmmm…spaghetti… I lean over and peck her on the lips before I see her close her eyes. As she dozes off, she looks happy. I decide to join her in slumber for now…not like there’s anything else to do…]

[I awake with a start as I hear my love shrieking as if it was Halloween and she had just seen a thousand ghosts all at one time.]

Jay: What is it? What’s wrong? A nightmare?

Martha: Yes! It was awful! Hold me…

[I do as she says and pull her to me. She’s trembling. It must have been something really horrific. But as bad as it was, I need to know what she saw. She can talk to me at any time. She knows that…]

Jay: When you’re ready, tell me what you saw babe. I’m prepared to hear the worst.

Martha: I don’t want your mind on this Jay. You have a huge rest of the week here…Juan Ramirez tomorrow night and then Shyne for one last time this Sunday. I don’t want you to lose your momentum or the title that took you FOUR YEARS to get!

Jay: It’s that bad?

[She doesn’t look up at me so I use my right hand to raise her chin. She’s cried for me before but nothing like this. When Sparkle had died there were many tears between the two of us, but from what I can see, this nightmare has really rattled her. I’ve GOT to find out what it is. It’s going to loom over me like a dark cloud if I don’t.]

[I can see why she’s hiding it though… She really wants me to focus. She wants me to continue to be successful. And that I shall, but after this Sunday, I want to hear it all…not even just half the story…all of it.]

[Martha stands up and her forehead is all sweaty. She heads off into the bathroom as I return to the window like I had before. The rain is slowing and I can no longer hear the thunder. It’s brightening a good deal outside so maybe we can salvage the evening…but this storm…oh this storm has brought something into Martha’s mind…something that I don’t know about…something that I already don’t like.]

[Hmmm…my hatreds…looks like one just got added to that list to join the Syndicate. At least the latter I get to deal with for this one last round of battles. As it was last time, Juan before Shyne…only this time the first half of the outcome will be different.]

* * *

[Martha’s since come out of the bathroom. She decided to take a walk, leaving me alone in the room to think. I’m more than willing to accept this granted opportunity… Only thing is, I don’t need to rhyme like Juan… All I need to do is beat him…and I’m definitely capable of doing that… The Real Speed will see that I can be just as hardcore as he is. He forgets how many cage matches and matches involving blood that I’ve been involved in. From a Kitchen of Hell Match to Clockwork Orange House of Fun and everything in between… Speed’s gonna get a show at the Syndicate’s expense, both Wednesday and Sunday. That’s the ONLY thing that will make that bastard happy.]

Jay: Juan, look, ya got me last time but that’s because my mind was solely on Shyne. This time it’s on something more…holding onto my momentum. Now I’ve come to realize that it doesn’t matter who or what I face in that ring. I’m out there to tune everything else out and get the job done. Simple as that. If you think you need to bring the light show, Dr. Seuss, the rap game, and the bathroom sink…go ahead, because it won’t be enough to beat the Master of the Moment. Not this time…

[I hear a bit of crying from outside the door but it then dissipates. My precious woman, she’s torn up now in little bits… If only she’d speak to me. But I’m doing what she says…concentrating on my career. She better tell me what’s up Sunday night. We’re partners for life…I need to know these things. She shouldn’t let it eat at her.]

Jay: No, this time around things will be different and even though you don’t believe me on this matter…tough shit Juan. Seeing is believing…and I KNOW that you saw me pin the SCW World Champion this past week. I know that you’re scared even though you’re rapping up a storm. I used to think the best way to get at my opponents was to really use a play on words with them, but not any more. Remember, I’m the wily veteran of this duo. I’m the ONLY Supreme Champion in the SCW and I’ll be the first wrestler to 100 wins in SCW history. You…you aren’t even close to my accomplishments.

I won’t say that you aren’t on the radar; it’s just that you’re not on it in a good way. You’re known as Speed’s personal whipping boy. At least when I’ve faced him, I’ve had close contests with him and actually beat him to the pin fall last year at Tactical Terror to win the SCW World Title for the second time! But past is past… I understand that. I don’t relish in it; I just remember it and realize that I can make history happen all over again.

Juan, I didn’t win the Underground Title just to give it up to the Syndicate within two weeks time. I’m not a Dillusion. I’m SCW’s FIRST golden child… I’m Jay Gold…and believe you me…after Breakdown, you won’t be able to ever forget me…nor will Shyne…nor will the rest of the Syndicate. I can say it until the cows come home Juan, when it comes to the Syndicate versus “little ole me”, I win far more times than I don’t. Just keep that in mind…

[My right hand goes for the doorknob and tugs at it. On the other side she now stands. She leaps into my arms and I catch her. I would never let her fall, especially when she needs me so badly. I’m here for her. Where else would I be…?]
