Right now I'm recruiting a PA, and for the first time in my career I'm being very tempted to do something very unprofessional and recruit this really really cute girl as my PA. I'm not expecting to do anything dodgy, however she's a really good looking girl - but her interview was terrible!

There's been other interviewee's who have been much better, but DAYMMMEEE she's gorgeous... I'm meant to make a decision by the end of the day (in 4 hours).

And its quite Ironic that I work in Human Resources! I'm basically going against every policy and procedure I've written for the company!

haha I've asked around but thought I'd put it out to you guys, what would you do?

I once convinced my best friend to accept a cute girl as his roommate instead of a guy we've known for years, so I don't exactly have a track record of doing what's right. In my defence the guy we knew had shitty credit and probably would have flaked on the rent at least once and the girl didn't.

All that should matter is if she's best for the job, and evidently she's not. You wouldn't have posted this if you were actually thinking hiring her was a good idea, right? If she fails at the job won't that just ultimately create more work for you in the long run?

That's exactly what my heads saying... But... a 6 month probation period isn't too bad either - that's one loop hole I may have...

Meh your right Syren, fucking hate being professional at work, really sucks!

I'll let her off gently though, summin like, "If it was based on looks you would have got the role, but unfortunately your as thick as shit, so sorry!"

Tell her you really liked her but that it wasn't down to you and the other members of your team wanted to go in another direction. Then tell her you'll keep her in mind for future roles and that she should give you her number so you can keep in touch, and that you'd love to help her further her interview technique.

If she's that cute get a date out of her at least! :rolleyes:

How good's her resume? If she's going to be around you a lot, I'd hire her. It'd just be your personal responsibility to help her and make sure she succeeds. That's if she has a decent enough resume that you could get away with it.if she ain't even around you or doesn't have a decent enough resume I don't think it'd be worth it.

Her resume wasn't too bad, but were much stronger candidates. She woulda have been my PA but I've given her the bad news. But have offered to meet up with her for a coffee after work so we can talk about some tips, which she happily accepted... All is not lost...yet!

You did the right thing I truly believe. Just because someone is not beautiful or handsome it should not take away from their ability or skills. By choosing on that quality alone, (good looks), you are being biased and prejudices against the less fortuneless in the looks department. They have often had to work harder to get where they are then someone who is handed opportunities because if their good looks.

You are bound by the company you work for to hire who would be in the best interest for the company, not looking for eye candy.

In the end of the day, could you have lived with yourself if you passed over someone who could have made a difference in your workplace, for someone who would just be added for your viewing pleasure?

I’m happy to see that your professionalism kicked you in the balls and you saw the light of a mistake you could have possible made.

I hope it all works out for you.

WHEW. I'm glad you didn't hire her. Hiring her would've been a HUGE mistake, not even from the stand point that she wasn't qualified, but if you'd hired her, you'd have been around her constantly and would have been unable to act on any impulses you had to ask her out or anything because she was a co-worker.

What you've done is A+ work. Now she likes you, doesn't work for you, and you are free to hit that without your job being on the line. Good show mang. =)

Well I must say thanks to all your replies. I agree with you all, I've never been unprofessional before but man this girl was cute!!!

A huge thanks to Syren who gave me some consulting. I rang the girl and offered to give her some interview techniques so I took her for a coffee and just got chatting to her. She was really pretty and she was really greatful for the chat n stuff. Hehe now I got a date tomorrow!

Amazing how shit can work out for you when you lay your cards out on the table and ask a few fellow efedders! Thanks guys!!!
