After talking to a few people, some who have asked me for help, I have decided to post a thread to do exactly that, help anyone that wants it. I know a lot of tricks, so just post what you're trying to do and I'll do my best to tell you how to do it. I'll also be doing a few tutorials over the next week, if my time permits, so look for those. I use Photoshop, so all of your questions will have to be about that. Sorry to those who use PSP or Elements. Take Care, Christian |

You can also do this method... Go to www.adobe.com and download the CS2 trial version from there. Then when you install it and it ask for a serial number enter 10451126386133319427. I think that's all I had to do. I'll look to make sure. |

Basically to get a simple border, take your image if already opened, if the layers are still seperate, go to Layer > Flatten Image and then duplicate the background image. Delete the original background. Go to Image > Resize Canvas. Click on it, and add 2 pixels onto the width and length of the image, leave the bottom parts with the arrows as is. Press okay. You should now have a skim part of where you can see the transparent background. Now what you do is simply create a new layer, and get your paint bucket and paint that new layer whichever color you want, but black and white is recommended. So then once you paint the new layer. Click on the copied background, and go to Edit > Stroke, and make it 1px and set it to either white or black (All depends on whether you painted your canvas black or white ; i.e Black canvas, White border on image, or in opposite form. Once done, click save and put it as a jpeg. and you're all good. Hope that clears it up. This work on all series of Photoshop, 7, CS, CS2 ... all have that same feature. |

damn cedro... you sure go through a lot of steps for a simple border ... here's the quick and easy way... create your image... when your through hit ctrl+A then go to Layer---Flatten Image. Then go to Edit ---- Stroke. Pick what size you want your border to be in the Pixel Box. Pick Your Color and make sure you pick the center option. then click ok. Hit ctrl+D to deselect and voila .. you have a simple border Thank You Come Again  |

You have more blur options in CS2 but you can still do everything in 7.0 I used 7.0 for nearly two years before I finally decided to get CS2... I like CS2 though... |

Sorry to bring up an old post but yeah... All brush sets you have for 7.0 can be used on CS2, no CS2 brush set can be used on 7.0. CS2 brush sets kick the shit out of 7.0 ones, but it just depends on the skill level of the brush maker... CS2 is better in my opinion.. |

So...I'm not sure if anyone even checks this post anymore but I have a photoshop 7 question. I downloaded it and am pretty new to it....I kind of figured out how to make the background transparent BUT....I had issues with the text. I see other people's banners where the text is laid over both the pic and the transparent part...perfectly. I tried it but when I tried to put it over both parts...it would start to fade under the layer pic. Like the black and white photo on my signature...took me FOREVER to do the transparent thing but I did it....but the text...it was fine till it was on the girl. It faded or went behind her everytime I tried to move the text up. I kind of feel dumb cause I'm just now questioning myself...on what order they were in but I'm pretty sure I had moved them to where it was background-photo-text. But If I did it right order wise, what else could I have done wrong??????? |

to get the best quality transprent pic's like you see most of us using, you want to save the image as PNG-24, not as a gif. Though with that being a gif, it's still nice work considering you probably had to manually erase all the white crap lol. |
