I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now, and after my little rant about refusing to make people graphic’s I kinda feel I was a little out of line to a point. With that said though I still feel strongly about it but anyway that’s not why I’m posting this thread lol. When I first started fedding, I was just like you (yes you) the little guy who had no clue how to make forum signatures, web pages, rp layouts etc. I always thought they looked snazzy so I asked the resident graphical guys who all lol’d at me and said one important piece of advice which I still use to people when asked – Teach yourself.

It wasn’t easy for me, but I did it and I’ve been making graphics overall for over 9 coming on 10 years now, maybe a little longer my memory sucks :(. I’m not a master of it and probably couldn’t sell my skills for any iota of profit, but I don’t care I did it as a hobby and it shall forever be my hobby and it can be yours too!

Now if you’ve gotten this far awesome I haven’t bored you yet because you actually are interested in learning how to make your own signatures, layouts etc. Well below you will find a series of links that ultimately should help you get on your way to making graphics, which eventually I will end up adding my own tutorials possibly should I ever get time to do so.

::Programs::
Well there’s Adobe Photoshop which is pretty much the industry standard, and there’s a reason why with it costing so much. But there is a thread elsewhere which explains ways on how to obtain a copy of it by other means... ^_^ Anyway though, if you rather not risk the wrath of the internet when trying, there is an alternative...

http://www.gimp.org/
No this isn’t the facebook of leather clad sex slaves, it’s a image manipulation program much like Photoshop just a little less snazzy, but then it’s free so what do you expect? It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles you would come to find in Photoshop, but then there are plugin’s you can get which help make things a little more photoshoppy. Deviant Art has a ton of brushes and other things for Gimp so it’s def worth a look.

::PSDS::
Pre-cut images for the lazy asses that refuse to cut their own (I’m one of the lazy asses unless i desperately want a specific cut). There’s only one site I ever use and it’s linked below.

http://psd-dreams.de/home.php
You have to register with the site to be able to download the png files, but it is the most comprehensive psd website out there period. I challenge anyone to find a better one with regards to wrestling/MMA cuts...

::Brushes::
http://Deviantart.com
One of my favourite places to go when I’m lacking inspiration, it helps to check out what other people have made. But also their selection of brushes, stock photos, you name it basically is amazing.

http://bluevertigo.com.ar/bluevertigo.htm
I remember when talking to a buddy of mine called Jay (you know him as Kindred London or his other character whose name eludes me at this time...) about designing among other things, well he threw me this link and god damn there’s so much on offer here I figured it warranted a spot on this thread.

http://www.brusheezy.com/

::Fonts::
http://Dafont.com
Quality font site which I think everyone uses for their fonts. I also use Blue Vertigo to find fonts as well as Deviant art. Though some of the sites bluevertigo links to charge for their stuff, but some do freebies too so you jusrt have to search really.

::Other Links::
http://Good-tutorials.com
once I really started getting into web and graphic design, I wanted to expand my horizons so to speak. This site really helped me figure out a lot of the features available in Photoshop, even though I’ll admit I’m still learning new shit every day myself.

http://Google.com
When in doubt if you don’t know, use Google because it will find what you’re looking for or something extremely close to it.

::Closing Words::
Hopefully this will help you, but if you have any questions at all direct them in this thread and i’ll be sure to throw my answers your way when I’m able. Additionally, if any of the other graphically inclined have site addresses they use frequently for their graphical needs, feel free to toss them in this thread and i’ll update my post accordingly.

Darling, the GFX PWNies (Jay, D and myself) as we used to be referred to as should have been consulted in this one because there are a few links we could have contributed to you, y'know.

Yeah I totally agree with the psd-dreams site, but I have another site that has a few cuts that I have yet to see on that site, http://www.mafiagraphics.com/

I had been bored one day and found a good site for brushes/textures/patterns/etc. as well: http://www.brusheezy.com/ <<<That's where I get most of my brushes for paint shop, (Although I need a .abr converter to do so but, shhhhh) and that is not including deviantart where I did get a lot of brushes too.
