OOC: Posting this for Shaun as he can't get on the boards from his work computer. I believe he sent it Olek as well, but I told him i'd post for him.

The ‘Ring Wars’ television studio, home to one of the most prominent wrestling shows on Cable TV. Its host Brian Keenan, with co host Steve Matthews have become renowned for having their finger on the pulse of the industry. The show is just beginning, and the opening sequence is showing on the big screen and as it ends, its cuts to Brian, his pristine looks radiating out.

Brian: Welcome wrestling followings to another edition of Ring Wars, with me as always is Steve Matthews

Steve nods a greeting

Brian: As you know, this Sunday SCW airs Under Attack, and all this week we have been putting one of the competitors in the spotlight. If you joined us yesterday you will know that we were talking about Katie Steward, and we’ll be answering your questions on that later. But today we are going to talk about someone who came into the SCW with his name going before him, but since making his debut, he has proven he is anything but just the Icon’s brother. I’m talking of course about Shaun Cruze. Steve, what’s your take on this guy, and his rise through the SCW ranks.

Steve: Well, as you probably know, he came to prominence in the now defunct IWC, winning the world title there as well. However, coming here with the name Cruze was never going to be easy, and I think he has actually handled himself well

Brian: Do you not think though it’s a case of too much too soon? Because a lot of the SCW roster, Shilo Valiant included seem to think so

Steve: I think in a way that is right yes, but not in the way Valiant believes

Brian: What do you mean?

Steve: Well, I think it goes without saying, if Shaun wins the elimination Chamber and gets his second world title shot, it will be something of a record. Shilo says that Shaun isn’t ready, and in some aspects I would tend to agree. But I don’t think he will suffer, in fact I think he will thrive from the experience. If he was letting the defeats get to him, then perhaps Valiant would be right, but he’s not. He is learning from every defeat, he’s learning how to cope with the pressures of the main event, and he’s growing stronger

Brian: I see…would you say then, that’s he’s an unlikely winner this Sunday

Steve: I think deep down even Shaun knows that. If you were taking everything into account, I’m sure most people would say the winner will probably come from the other five. However, everyone discounted Cruze in the Scaffold Scramble, and we saw what happened there.

Brian: True. So in your opinion, why is it that Shaun has been so successful in his rookie year?

Steve: I think it’s a culmination of things actually. There is no doubt at all he is one heck of a talent, and if you look at his brother around the same age, there is little doubt that already he is more skilled that his brother was. He’s got the never say die trait that got Orlando through so many matches as well, and he is very difficult to put down. But, I think what shines through with Shaun is that for one of the youngest guys on the roster, he really carries himself well, he’s got maturity beyond his years, which is something that Orlando didn’t develop until he was thirty plus. He doesn’t let the words of his opponents get to him, he remains focussed. Plus, he’s had the element of surprise on his side, though the way he is going, that is going to be the case for much longer.

Brian turns back to the camera

Brian: And I think there is little doubt that Shaun is benefitting from having an experienced team around him. Rather than let the Cruze name choke him, he has actually embraced it, and used it to his advantage. Orlando has obviously gone to great lengths to ensure that Shaun doesn’t make the exact mistakes that he did, and it’s beginning to show. He’s got so much confidence in what he does, and I think a lot of that is down to Orlando showing him the right direction. But, Orlando is only part of the puzzle, and although he has dealt with most of the mental aspects of the industry, the skills he has developed in the ring have actually been honed by another former IWC superstar, and one of only a few who can profess to having won the grand slam of titles in that company. And we are lucky enough to have him here today, ladies and gentleman please welcome, Nathan Creed.

Nathan walks onto set and takes a seat on the chair next to Brian

Brian: Thanks for joining us today Nathan

Nathan: Pleasure

Brian: Tell me, how did you end up training Shaun?

Nathan: Well, as you know Orlando and I have been good friends for many years, harking back to the old UCWF days. He told me that his brother was going to enter the IWC, and he felt that with my technical skills, I would be the best person to teach him how to handle himself between the ropes. Obviously, he had quite a honed fighting style already from his time on the MMA circuit, so it was just a case of polishing him up really

Steve: And did you see straight away that he would be something special?

Nathan: That’s a difficult question to answer. I wouldn’t say so to begin with. In MMA he had been very much a striker, relying on his speed and quickness to stay out of trouble. However, he’d always had trouble with the wrestlers, or with any technique that involved taking him to ground. So it was in these aspects we worked on. We gave him the counters, and the move set to make him unpredictable…and it was then that I started to see someone who could be pretty special

Brian: Why was that?

Nathan: Because you could see that everything I said, both positive and negative, he was taking it on board. He knew he had weaknesses, and the drive and determination he has within him wouldn’t allow him to stop until he has ironed them out. So many times I had to send him home before he did himself an injury from training too hard.

Nathan laughs

Nathan: Of course he still has chinks in his armour, but he knows how to stop people from exploiting them. He always wants to learn something new, to keep himself fresh.

Brian: Of course, there was always going to be comparisons with his brother. What would you say are his differences?

Nathan: I think it was said earlier, but he is probably more technically proficient than Orlando was at the same age. Orlando was very much a power wrestler until he was trained by Desolation, so I think in that aspect he is different now to Orlando at the same age. Orlando was of course stronger, but Shaun is much quicker, and although Orlando probably won’t thank me for it, he’s more intelligent when he steps through the ropes. Orlando used to prepare for his opponents, but Shaun is so meticulous and leaves nothing to chance.

Brian: We were speaking earlier, and referring to the comments made by Shilo Valiant in a recent promo. Shilo has gone on record as saying Shaun isn’t ready for the big time yet, and went as far as saying that his Scaffold Scramble match may have actually stalled Shaun’s career. Do you think choosing the world title was the best option considering?

Nathan: Thing is, anyone who would say something like that, obviously doesn’t really know Shaun Cruze. Of course we discussed it, but the decision in the end was always going to be up to him, so I don’t think anyone can really say if it was incorrect or not

Steve: What do you mean by that?

Nathan: I guess what I am saying it, normal circumstances would state that to attempt to win the world title, seven months into your tenure in a company is ridiculous. That’s why I’m pretty sure Shilo is saying the things he is. But, if he actually listened to Shaun in the build up, instead of just going off at a tangent, he would have heard him say many times that Apocalypse was never about winning the title, more about competing for it. Yeah, he could have cashed in with a shot at the Adrenaline title, but he wanted to prove he could compete with a world champion. And there is little doubt he did that.

Brian: But this time is a different story?

Nathan: I think so yes. Taking Shawn Winters to his limits has given him the belief that one on one he can beat him. However, he has to get through the Chamber first of course.

Steve: You don’t sound so sure

Nathan: I think it’s difficult to comprehend just how difficult the elimination chamber is if you haven’t actually competed in it. No doubt we will be listening to promos in the build up where people will state they are a shoe in for the victory. But the facts of the matter are none of them know that, the Chamber is so unpredictable anything can happen so for all of them the odds are quite long. He can win it yes…but so can everyone else. He’s ready, and he’s prepared, you can’t ask much more than that really.

Brian: But first he must face Gable Winchester of course, who has been quite derogatory in his comments.

Nathan: I’ll leave Shaun to deal with that later if you don’t mind?

Brian: Of course…well our time is almost up Nathan, but finally if we could just turn to you. Are there any plans for you to return to the ring anytime soon, or will you be joining Orlando in permanent retirement?

Nathan: Right now, nothing is certain. The different between Orlando and I is I could return if I wished so never say never. At the moment however I’m content outside the ring thank you.

Brian: Thank you Nathan, I for one hope we haven’t seen the end of Nathan Creed between the ropes.

Nathan: Thanks for having me

Brian: Join us after the break, when it’s Masquerade in the spotlight.

ON LOOP

Shaun peers out from behind the camera, having grabbed a few moments from his preparations to speak to Gable Winchester. He still has his gym gear on, and is sweating profusely. So much so he gets a towel, and dabs around the moisture from his forehead.

“Wow, really…that’s the best you can muster, pretty much a re-run of Shilo’s Chamber promo. After having the best part of a week to prepare, without any other distractions like…say a Elimination Chamber match, and all you can do is rehash what someone else has said, pass it off as you own, and have your gang of reprobates in the back ground generally being annoying? This is what you pass off as entertainment…using Ryan Watson to bring your offering up to something that was at best…shit. Then, somewhere out of left field, you have the gall to call me…boring?

He shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head in disbelief he even had to deal with this just five days shy of the PPV

“Gable Winchester…not being funny bud, but the name doesn’t exactly exude fear does it? I mean, yeah, your second name is a brand of rifle, possibly one of the most famous rifles in the world, but instead of that inspiring confidence in you, I’m afraid the only reference I can draw from that is that you seem to be firing blanks. Perhaps that’s why you and Kissinger…damn it, don’t worry I’ll pay the 6K, maybe that’s why Kissinger and you split, because you couldn’t perform where it mattered most? You know what they say about guys that brag about their prowess don’t you? Nine times out of ten they have a dick the size of an acorn and a brain to match. Does this pretty much sum you up? Oh, and did you think that offering up 6k was going to stop me talking about one of the funniest moments in SCW history when Stacy realised what a prick you were? Nice attempt at reverse psychology jackass.

But, I’m sorry, because now I’m descending to your level, down where childish behaviour and immature put downs rule, just like they do in the playground. Where intelligent speech and FACTUAL information is regarded as ‘boring’ by those that simple cannot understand. I mean, why should facts be considered important, when instead you can talk about someone being as important as someone’s insole huh? Oh dear Gable…oh dear”

He rubs his eyes; his training schedule had started to take its toll. A couple more days and he would be ready for the Chamber, and then he would rest up, allow his body to relax for a while.

“But, you asked me a question so therefore I’ll answer it for you, just like I answered for Shilo when he said exactly the same thing. I’m in the Chamber Gable, purely on merit, nothing more, and nothing less. I deserve to be there, simply because in the eight months I have been here, I have climbed the ladder by taking the opportunities as they have been given to me. I was given a chance in the Adrenaline showcase, and I took it. I was given a chance in the Scaffold Scramble, I took that as well. I took winning that match and I used it to get a shot at Shawn Winters, probably a shot others deserved more than me yes, but I put on a performance on a par anyone had ever seen against Winters. Did my inexperience cost me? Yeah it probably did, but is there any doubt I proved that I could hang in the ring with someone of his calibre? I don’t think so Winchester, and unfortunately for you and any others who want to go on and on about it, neither did Olek either

And you know, that’s the be all and end all on this subject, because no matter what you think, or what Shilo thinks, there is only one opinion in this that truly matters, and that is the guy that is making the decisions. You might think otherwise, but there is a reason you’ve only been successful in the tag team division, and that’s because you cannot function unless someone is there holding your hand. You’ve been led Gable, by those that have spoken before you, and like a sheep you have followed, without actually thinking for yourself. You never thought for a moment, hold on, Shaun is the guy who bested my buddy Ryan Watson in the Adrenaline Showcase so he can’t be that bad. You never watched the Adrenaline title match where I lost to Warren James, in a match that is considered one of the best in Adrenaline history. You’ve not looked back through the names of people I have beaten, names that stand out as the very best SCW has ever had to offer, you’ve just took the lazy route, the easiest way. But in doing so, you’ve just proven yourself just as stupid as all those you follow. So why can I beat you Gable…see all the above.”

He throws the towel around his shoulders, holding each end. The coldness felt good on his aching limbs

“Not as any of reasons matter to you right, because you have already made your mind up about me, because you see a lot of me in the man you once were. Oh yeah, I know that you were once a fan favourite, and turned your back on them, I know the history. I also know that back then, when you were being the good guy, you were never being yourself. This is the real Gable Winchester, and for that I am glad, knowing that I can’t turn my back on you for one second. I appreciate that, I like to know what I am facing. Why am I bringing this up? Because I want to make reference to these ‘fickle’ fans you speak of, and the pity they feel for me every time I enter the arena. I don’t know how it was for you man, but that’s not the situation at all for me, because when I enter the ring, the explosion is nothing like anything seen in the SCW before. I’m not a popular guy because it’s a character I wish to play, I’m a popular guy because that’s me, I’m real, and I won’t let the fans believe in me only to let them down. It’s anything but pity Gable, its excitement, because they know that I’m about to put on a show, and give the best I can no matter the result. They know I won’t throw in the towel, they know I’m not going to cheat simply to get a victory. They know if I win, I will have earned it…something they never had in you, because this arrogance, this jealousy of all those around you was destroying you from within.

And that’s all it is Gable, jealousy, I can see it written all over your face. You hear those fans chanting for me, and you know its real, unlike the cheers you may have experienced why back when. You believe they turned on you when you allowed your arrogance to take over, for the real you to show yourself. I disagree, because I don’t think you ever had the fans in the first place. And, just so we are clear, and these fans who you seem intent in getting a reaction out of know the truth, this ‘undisclosed’ poll of yours, I got a hold of those stats and I’m not being funny, but your Mum and Dad, Auntie Dave and Uncle Rita and Cousin Fido the three legged sexually frustrated canine, Jack, Watson, your manager, your *cough* stylist *cough*, and then a cheeky little vote for yourself is not the most reliable of sources. Fact is, watch the tape back, consider the reaction when Olek mentioned my name, and then realise that your far more of a clown than Karnivale will ever be. You have no idea Gable…no idea at all, and its becoming increasing obvious who wore the trousers between you and Kissinger. Dammit…twelve thousand to charity, oh well its worth it”

He pulls the towel from around his neck and smiles for the first time, his heart rate beginning to slow down now as he recovers from his work out.

“The simple fact of the matter is this, I have proven myself more deserving, and I have done it with the full force of Greaternity behind me, or Infamous backing me up. I’ve done this with very little commotion, working my way up until I reach this point in my career where I am considered by those that matter as worthy of my stature. I’ve not done this by cheating or by getting anyone to run in to interfere in my matches, I have done this by standing alone, against everything that has been thrown in my direction. I justify myself to you, just so that you can learn, so that you realise what you need to do, so you have the answers that you seek. You need to change, and until you do, the next time a title shot comes up, I’ll probably once again be ahead of you in the queue, and again, and again. It’s not necessarily because I am better, or more talented…it’s because I’m not a follower, I have my own mind. Winchester, you are wasting the talent you were given, because of your preference to be lazy. And come Breakdown, there is one thing that is for certain…you will be left eating every single one of your…or should I say Shilo’s words”

He stands with a smile, and then walks off camera, before the scene fades slowly to black.
