Album: The Rest Of My Life
Track 9: Don't Want Attention, Just Want Change

It is Friday evening and Stacy Kissinger finds herself back in the town where her father was inadvertently killed. Only this time, she is back here to resolve the issue along with her best friend at the Albany County Jail. It is just after 5, and even though the hearing is still a couple hours away, Stacy has arrived at the jail’s parking lot, this time via a rental car as she is the one that climbs out of the driver’s seat. No other door opens, leading us to believe that Jenna will be coming separate…or who knows, she might already be inside.

As Stacy steps out of the car we can see that she is professionally dressed from head to toe in a pair of black sparkling high heels, a black knee-high skirt, a white blouse and an opened black sweater covering up her shoulders and arms as it has grown a bit more chilly since she was in the Northeast last. Stacy reaches back into the car and grabs for her purse before slinging it over her left shoulder. She then closes the driver’s door to the car and locks it up before walking through the parking lot and up to the main entrance to the jail, the same entrance that she and Jenna were bickering at over a week ago.

Once at the door Stacy just opens the door without delay. No sigh, no frustration and no looking back as Dallas, Texas’s own walks in to face whatever fate might come. As she reaches the front desk, the same clerk is there as last time. The clerk just nods at Stacy and tells her to go on back. Stacy does not even speak a word as she does as she is told. When she turns the corner at the end of the hallway, she stops and her heart sinks a bit as she sees Jenna already there, again talking to the same prison guard. The prison guard is just busy rolling her eyes. Stacy does not stay silent, but instead she is quite vocal, not acting businesslike now.

Stacy: “Come on Jenna, stop with yer funny business and yer lies! This woman doesn’t wanna hear any more of yer crap!”

Female Prison Guard: “To be honest, I don’t want to hear EITHER of you anymore. That’s why my supervisor will be the one going to your hearing and we’ve also hired up a local judge. He will make the decision on what’s going to happen and his decision will be final.”

Stacy: “Hopefully ya got a judge that can see right through lyin’ eyes.”

Female Prison Guard: “I don’t know about that. But until you two go in for the hearing, I don’t want to hear another peep out of either of you. Just sit there…and you Miss Kissinger…fill out the paperwork that’s waiting at the desk. Miss McDonough has already filled hers out.”

Jenna beams with pride, knowing that she is a step ahead of the game. Now we get the usual Kissinger sigh before she heads over to the clipboard of papers that awaits her. As she works on filling them out, a look comes over Stacy that has not ever come over her before. A look of definite certainty... Jenna’s face is no longer beaming as she sees the look on Stacy’s face. It’s at this point that Jenna breaks the silence that the female prison guard wanted.

Jenna: “What are ya up to ovah there Stacy? I’ve nevah seen ya look like that in yer whole life. Ya thinkin’ ‘bout takin’ the rap fer me and goin’ in that cell? ‘Cause it ain’t gonna happen.”

Stacy does not respond, but instead just glances over at Jenna, holding her look of certainty on her face.

Jenna: “Come on. Out with it.”

This draws the prison guard’s attention again, but she does not even look over at Stacy. She focuses clearly on Jenna as Stacy just shakes her head, actually enjoying the little floor show.

Female Prison Guard: “Are you deaf Miss McDonough? You are to remain quiet until the hearing. I have paperwork to process and other work to do. I do NOT have the time to be telling you to be quiet. This is your last warning.”

This actually makes Jenna smirk, knowing that she is getting under the guard’s skin. Stacy no longer enjoys this as she now sees that Jenna is again trying to get a step ahead of her by getting herself in trouble. Stacy puts down her clipboard on an empty seat, stands up and drags Jenna away from the possible confrontation from the prison guard.

Stacy: “I’ll take care of her ‘til the hearin’.”

Female Prison Guard: “You better.”

Stacy: “She won’t bothah ya again. I promise. If I see she’s even thinkin’ ‘bout it, let’s just say that I have the powah of the punch to knock her down.”

Female Prison Guard: “Whatever works.”

The female prison guard stops there and stays at her desk, getting back to work. Jenna actually looks a little scared now as she knows that Stacy is a professional wrestler. Stacy smirks, knowing that SHE is the one to come out on top this time around. She holds said smirk until her paperwork is done. Stacy stands up and drops the clipboard off at the desk before looking at the clock on the wall. At least the time is going by quickly, and not painfully second by second by second as it is already a bit after 5:30. As Stacy gets back over to where Jenna is seated, Stacy speaks to her in a quiet tone as to not annoy the prison guard any further.

Stacy: “Ya know Jenna, why don’t ya go get some suppah or somethin’? There’s no reason fer eitha of us to sit here ‘til 7.”

Jenna: “Nice try, but I ain’t goin’ nowhere. You’ll purposely try to get ‘em to start the hearin’ early without me. Sorry Stacy, I’m not that dumb.”

Stacy just shakes her head, but still remains quite quiet, but still audible to Jenna.

Stacy: “I was gonna come with ya. Duh.”

Jenna: “Still not happenin’. I’d rathah starve.”

Stacy: “Then we both will.”

The female prison guard looks up from her work again, giving them both an angry look. She looks like she is about to come out from behind her desk, but that is when a door is heard from down the way a bit. It opens fully and two men step out into the hallway and walk towards the holding cell area. The older of the two men carries a briefcase and looks very studious. He walks towards Stacy and Jenna and then extends his arm out to shake both of their hands. He introduces himself as he does so.

???: “Hello Miss Kissinger and Miss McDonough. I know I am early, but we may as well get your hearing underway. I am Judge Harold Steinberg and as you both know, I will be the one listening to what the two of you have to say in the matter at hand.”

The other man, the supervisor of the jail now speaks.

Supervisor: “Neither of you will talk out of turn either during the hearing. And Judge Steinberg’s decision will be final.

Both young ladies nod as they are ushered into the same room that the supervisor and the judge had just emerged from not moments earlier. Once all four are in the room, Judge Steinberg sits behind the desk, as does the supervisor of the jail. Stacy and Jenna take seats that are next to one another but quickly move them so they are not so close. As soon as both are situated, Judge Steinberg gets things underway.

Judge Steinberg: “Now, I have looked at all the information gathered and given by the both of you about your father’s death Miss Kissinger. And well, what it seems like to me, is that you both want to take the fall for it, even though there are no witnesses alive to actually tell the truth of what happened. This is true, correct? It was only the two of you in the motel room along with Mr. Kissinger?”

Jenna goes to answer, but Stacy beats her to the punch.

Stacy: “Yes yer Honor.”

Judge Steinberg: “It was here that a fight broke out between the two of you, as Miss McDonough here attempted to put a knife through your father’s heart, correct Miss Kissinger?”

Stacy: “Yes yer Honor. It was then that I told Jenna that we should take care of it the right way and that we could just turn in my fathah fer the wrongdoings he had done in the past.”

Judge Steinberg: “And those wrongdoings are?”

Jenna isn’t afraid to blurt out the information at this point.

Jenna: “He kidnapped me, then eventually left me fer dead just outside of Las Vegas! And even worse, he killed MY fathah!”

Judge Steinberg: “So this was all about the revenge factor for you.”

Jenna: “Yes! Which is why I bought the knife and why I pushed Stacy into her fathah while she was holdin’ the knife! He deserved it!”

Stacy now doesn’t hold back either.

Stacy: “I’m the one that plunged the knife in Jenna! Besides, he took advantage of me too ya know! He no longah loved mah mom and he was desperate to have me as his bride…and well, fer a while he got his wish, only ‘cause he forced me to!”

Jenna: “But he didn’t go to pretty much kill ya like he did to me! That’s why I shoved ya into him! I wanted him dead! You just wanted him in a place like…like…THIS!”

Stacy: “I’m not as bloodthirsty as I used to be Jenna. Unlike you right now, I have a heart! But still, I’m the one that plunged in the night. It’s mah responsibility to accept the consequences.”

Judge Steinberg: “Miss Kissinger, that is for me to decide. Moving on, and based on what I am seeing unfolding in front of me, I will take it that you two are no longer friends.”

Both ladies are silent now and both just sit there, not looking at one another, but instead only looking forward.

Judge Steinberg: “I will take that as a yes. Anyways, based on the low amount of information I have here it is relatively easy for me to make a decision on this matter. Both of you seem to be key in the death of Miss Kissinger’s father, but without any evidence to prove who did what, except for here-say from the two of you, perhaps it is best that we put this matter to rest and let it go.”

Both women at this point lose their cool and whatever professionalism they had and both stand up and lash at one another.

Jenna: “I’m not lettin’ it go! I killed yer fathah and I deserve to be behind bars!”

Stacy: “I had the knife at that point! Go back to Dallas and yer family! This is MY fault!”

The supervisor of the jail stands up and immediately contains both women by actually shoving them against one of the walls in the room.

Supervisor: “Alright you two, that is ENOUGH! Judge Steinberg’s decision is final. If the two of you do anything else in this room, you will BOTH be in a lot of trouble, but not because of the death of your father Miss Kissinger. So both of you sit back down and simmer…NOW!”

The supervisor backs off and both women cough a little before going back to their seats. The judge is shaking his head, but he speaks to both ladies, as calmly and professionally as he can.

Judge Steinberg: “I see we have to separate the two of you. So Miss McDonough, I am ordering that you return to Dallas to be with your family. Perhaps down there you should find something to do that will keep you happy. Or perhaps find a job that will keep you busy.”

Jenna is about to stand up and argue, but she thinks better of it as Judge Steinberg eyeballs her back down completely to her seat. He then turns his attention to Stacy.

Judge Steinberg: “As for you Miss Kissinger, I’m sorry for your loss, but you must move on with your life. Neither you or Jenna should be worried about your father anymore. He is gone and that will just have to be accepted by you and her. Now if the two of you do not wish to be friends, I cannot force you to hold hands and sing Koombayah or anything like that. Anyways, Miss Kissinger, since you are a professional wrestler, perhaps it is best if you keep on doing what you are doing. I am sure you are quite busy when you are always on the road.”

Stacy: “Yer right yer Honor. Although I have to put it out there. It’d be less of a punishment to be here than to be dealin’ with mah co-workahs in SCW.”

Judge Steinberg: “Those are problems that you have Miss Kissinger and you need to iron those out on your own time. My one suggestion on that, take it up with your boss.”

Stacy: “Unfortunately yer Honor, he is one of the main problems right now. He thinks I’m just lookin’ fer attention when that’s not the case.”

Jenna snickers in her seat before speaking out of turn.

Jenna: “Coulda fooled me.”

Stacy goes a little red in the face but chooses not to reply to Jenna’s side comment. Instead she turns her attention back to Judge Steinberg.

Judge Steinberg: “I am sure you will figure out something Miss Kissinger. As for right now, this hearing is adjourned. Thank you ladies. You may exit.”

Both Stacy and Jenna stand, still not looking in either’s direction. Jenna leaves the room first and Stacy leaves second. Once they are back out near the female prison guard, they find themselves near to one another again, but nothing happens. They both just sign the last of the paperwork before they both are allowed to hit the open air of upstate New York once again. It is outside where Stacy digs until her purse and hands Jenna over some money as she speaks, but not cordially.

Stacy: “Here Jenna. I know ya don’t have enough on ya. This’ll be enough to get ya back home. And please, fer yer family’s sake, please go back home.”

Jenna: “Fine. And now that this is ovah and neitha of us got what we wanted, you get goin’ back to work Stacy.”

Stacy: “It’s a deal. I don’t think I can be yer friend anymore though. Not aftah what’s happened.”

Jenna: “I agree. I’m sure I’ll see ya ‘round again at some point though. That wrestlin’ company of yers seems to come to Dallas annually.”

Stacy: “I won’t be lookin’ fer ya when we do. The judge in there’s right Jenna. We both need to move on and do new thangs and take care of our business the way we see fit. So this is it. Bye Jenna.”

Stacy walks over to her rental car, the sound of her black high heels clacking against the sidewalk and then the pavement the entire way. Stacy does not look back. Jenna however just keeps watching Stacy as she walks out of her life, presumably forever.

Stacy, now at her rental car opens the driver door and slips in before relocking the door, just so Jenna cannot come and try to open it. Stacy sighs and breathes, but seems to be ready to move on with her life, even though it means she will have to continue to deal with people who think she just wants attention.

This thought must hang vividly in her mind as she reaches into the back seat of the rental car and grabs her spiral notebook. She yanks it into the front seat with her before taking a pen from out of her purse. She begins writing her current thoughts down on paper as she leaves thoughts of Jenna McDonough in the rear view mirror.

To Supreme Championship Wrestling:

Again I’m not surprised that Mister D didn’t want actually hear me out. Yeah, I didn’t run Sasha over. I only “confessed” to Mister D not for attention, but to save the person that actually chose to perform such an act. That’s the kind of woman I am. I don’t mind taking the fall for someone else. Besides, to me, jail time isn’t punishment. Working around most of you in SCW is what I consider the ultimate punishment, since many of you are very disrespectful! You disrespectful ones are the ones that want the attention, not me. I know how to get attention and if I desired it that bad, I would just come out to the ring with a microphone and sing for all the fans wearing as little as possible. So to Mister D, no, I’m not looking for attention. Sorry to burst your bubble on that one. Perhaps you’ll listen to me next time and stop interrupting me, because once again at Breakdown I had something I needed to tell you and well…you wouldn’t let me tell you it!

I tried to do a good deed and tell you that I might have a good idea who ran over Sasha, but I see it’s no use. You don’t want to listen to anyone but yourself. That’s the problem a lot of people have Mister D, not just you. Yet you choose to “punish” me by putting me in the place that I call him against someone else that you just don’t like right now in Jason Zero. What’s worse, you’ve done it for your own entertainment. Again, sorry to burst your bubble Mister D, but I don’t wrestle for you and I’m sure Jason will say the same. I wrestle to keep the fans happy, the fans that bring the money pouring into SCW! And I wrestle because I love to do so! As for Jason, I know he’s kind of lost his way being that he no longer can challenge for the SCW World Championship. But still, I know for a fact that he doesn’t wrestle for you. He wrestles for himself.

Now that’s not a quality that I care to have at this point in my life, but I’m not going to change Jason’s vision on anything. He can say what he wants to say and do what he wants to do. If he wants to take me to the brink in this match and do his best to beat me up, I welcome that. I would actually respect you Jason if you actually DID do that. Besides, if you put me on the shelf, I wouldn’t have to deal with all these people that just love to insult me and say that I just want attention. You know for a fact Jason that’s not what I want. I’ve changed since the days of Infection and for the better. It was then that I was indeed an attention whore, but no longer. I’ve matured and it’s clear that people like our interim owner haven’t.

Anyways, I’m not seeing our match this Sunday at Under Attack as a punishment Jason. I welcome this chance to face you once again, because I actually hold you in decent regards. You’ve held the SCW World Championship the most times in SCW history for a reason. It’s because you’re a great athlete. You know your way around the ring and probably run circles around me when you’re at your best. This Sunday I hope that you ARE at your best Jason.

Now no, I won’t deliver the ole pun and say that you’re a “Zero”. That’s something that Infamous and Greaternity and the like would do. You should know that I’m not one to hand down the insults, unlike my last opponent Alexis Rayne. I prefer to put all the talk behind me and just enter that ring. Like I told Mister D, I feel home in that ring, even when I do come up short. Perhaps that’s what Infamous should realize. It’s what everyone should realize. I don’t care how many times I lose. I’m not going to retire just because someone wants me to do. And I sure wouldn’t up and retire if I could no longer go after a title belt. I’d keep fighting because I enjoy hearing the roar of the fans. I enjoy competing for them. And even though SCW isn’t a fun place right now, I look forward to the challenge of showing everyone on the SCW roster that I’m tired of the disrespect and tired of the games. I just want to hit that ring Jason Zero and much like against Sunshine a few weeks back in Commonwealth Wrestling, I want to fight you in a competitive match. I know for a fact that you can give me that…instead of just going through the motions. Don’t see this match this Sunday as a punishment Jason. Besides, you still have plenty to fight for…as do I.

See you this Sunday everyone.

Sincerely,

Stacy Kissinger

Stacy tosses her notebook into the passenger seat and puts the car key into the ignition. The motor is now running and Stacy is only looking ahead to the future…a future that she hopes changes for the better, not just for herself, but for everyone.
