Three months ago…

How did she miss out on this? The splendor, the warm and fuzzy feeling you got when you helped someone, feeling the money run through your hands… it was like a slice of heaven! Madelyne had never known such joy, despite coming from a wealthy background. It was here she learned the truth about life; it’s not about how many things you have, or what kind of car you drive. It was all about helping, about making sure people received something that would brighten their day. Lord knows that everyone’s day needs a little brightening, after all. She even loved the uniform! Was there ever a thing better than this? Not to her memory! The buxom blonde smiled, flashing her pearly whites at the person in front of her.

“Would you like fries with that?”

The customer grunted, waving his hand and shaking his head.

“You got it, sir! That’ll be $8.95, please. Have a burgeriffic day!”

Oh, she was so cheery today! And why not? She loved Burger Dude! Here was a restaurant with class! Sure, it was kind of hard to see sometimes, what with the messy floor and splatters on what was supposed to be white walls, but she could see the charm and potential. She knew this was her place in this world, and she reveled in it! She smiled as another customer walked up, and her eyes went wide as she whispered in her ear. Madelyne nodded enthusiastically, a toothy grin painted on her face.

“No problem, hon, we do that all the time!”

Madelyne approached the table the customer had returned to, eyeing the guy in the middle. This was going to be great. She clapped her hands loudly, then spoke at a decibel level high enough for all in the fast food restaurant to hear.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a birthday today! Jesse, here, has just turned 16! Let’s all wish him a happy birthday, shall we?!”

A resounding chorus of “Happy happy birthday, from all of us to you! Happy happy birthday, we hope your dreams come true!” rang out, with Madelyne clapping along, bubbly and full of joy.

“Oh my dear God, no.”

The image faded as Madelyne’s eyes snapped open a half-second before bolting upright in bed. Her scantily-covered body was drenched in sweat, hair matted to her forehead. Breathing came in shallow gasps at the horror she had just witnessed in her sleep. Her chest heaved, and she nearly said good morning to the dinner she had eaten the previous evening. God, if there were ever a worse nightmare for a wealthy heiress to have, Madelyne couldn’t think of it. Her eyes snapped to the digital clock hanging upon the wall.

3:30am

Madelyne’s fingers immediately went to her temples in a futile attempt to massage away the headache, as well as the after-images that had brought it on. She’s been wearing an apron, of all things! Where did one even get those? Poor-Mart? She shook her head; she had to start doing something. Sitting around in the life of luxury had gotten, dare she think it, boring! Truth be told, she missed the action of the ring. Her debut into the wrestling world had been brilliant, and many pegged her as one hell of a rising star. She even took over X3W for a while, ousting Brydon Talinsdale and making Graham Clauson her little bitch. The success she had with that promotion was secondary to the thrill it gave her when she was in a conflict with another individual. Those were very good days.

But over the last year, she had done nothing. Oh, she had thrown some lavish parties, got into trouble, and so on… but nothing compared to the thrill of utterly defeating someone, body and soul. She let out a sigh, glancing over to the phone on the nightstand. Yes. Yes, it was time. She reached over, dialed a number that she had become very familiar with. It rang for a few beats, then a familiar voice groggily sounded off on the other end. Madelyne smiled, a hint of the old excitement starting to course through her veins.

“Hi, Zoe. I have a proposition for you….”

Present.
The pieces were in place, the board set. Finally, Madelyne McTaggert had returned to the business… much to the joy of her friends and allies. Zoe had been nothing short of jubilant at the call, despite the early hours of the morning. She’d already made a few appearances on the shows, but now, she had a match.

Madelyne paced as Clark spoke on the phone, securing the final deals, his bald dome nodding every now and then as he conversed. Finally, he hung up, giving his iPhone a little twirl before he slipped it into his pocket. Madelyne couldn’t contain herself. She’d been out of the ring for a very long time; the last person she legitimately fought was Graham Clauson, and that was over a year ago! But despite the ring rust, SCW had to be clamoring for her return to action. She had been unstoppable when she initially joined, and she knew she brought ratings. Who would they put her up against? What high profile match did they have planned for her? The champion herself, perhaps?

“So spill, Clark. Who do I have?!”

“You have… Clamidiya.”

Madelyne gives him a blank stare, then, after a pause, her brows slowly begin to descend downward.

“That’s not very goddamn funny.”

Clark blinks, shocked by his client’s reaction.

“It’s… it’s on the card…”

“It’s WHAT?! How DARE they put that on the card of an official wrestling event! I will sue! I will own Mr. D for every penny in his wretched existence! The nerve!”

Madelyne’s face is flushed as she paces back and forth angrily, while Clark is absolutely flabbergasted, but unable to get a word in.

“Stupid SCW! They have no idea how lucky they are to even have me come back! I could have gone to other promotions, but noooo, I had to come to this steaming pile of a corporation that can’t even conduct themselves on a professional level! Nooo, they have to resort to grade school jokes and pranks! GUH! Frustrated grunt!”

Madelyne’s tirade has a moment of silence, if one could discount the stomping of her feet upon the hardwood floor, but it was enough for Clark to finally get a word in.

“Madelyne, what are you on about?! It says here that you’re in a battle against Cla-“

“I KNOW, CLARK! I know what it says, and Mr. D is NOT going to get away with it! I’ll sue that asshole casserole for defamation of character, for slander, because I do not have, nor have I ever had, an STD!!”

That stopped Clark short, but he dared not laugh. He knew the volatile temper of the blonde heiress, and would avoid her wrath at every opportunity. He did find it amusing, though, and very nearly hid it.

“Madelyne, Clamidiya is a signed member of SCW’s roster. It wasn’t a slight against you, it was – “

“Bullshit, Clark, that’s what it is! I was established in this company, with only ONE loss against me! I dominated the rest, from Madison Steward to Marina Trent. Or, Marina Trent when she was blue. Speaking of which, I am really disappointed in her little change… I mean, I had a slew of blue jokes to use against her, and she up and changes into a bird?”

“Honestly, Madelyne, I’m surprised she hasn’t dyed her hair blonde and started swinging a hammer around.”

Clark was trying to derail his client now; if he knew Madelyne, she would latch onto that hatred of Marina and run with it, leaving that whole Clamidiya nonsense behind. Madelyne was a conniving, manipulative individual, but Clark had learned a few things along the way, as well. He hobbled over to the vivacious Brit, a thought suddenly occurring to him.

“You know, Madelyne, this return to the ring means you can start up that blog again.”

McTaggert’s face lit up as she recalled the sheer joy she experienced in writing for the witless fools that tuned in every week. She rushed over to the computer, planting her rump in the chair before sending her fingers flying over the keyboard.

Hello, wrestling world! If mine ears do not deceive me, that sharp intake of breath heard worldwide, that collective gasp, was your surprise at me returning to the squared circle. Oh, I know, I know… none of you thought it would actually happen. You hoped, you dreamed, but you never believed. You scoured Twitter endlessly, hoping my teasing comments would some day lead me back to SCW, but never daring to actually believe it might happen. Well, consider it my New Years gift to all of you, because I am once again listed on SCW’s roster!

PROTIP: stock in tissues and hand lotion are about to soar. SOAR, I tell you!

So, I bet you’re all as excited as I am about my return to the ring. But there is a problem, isn’t there? It’s not as glorious as any of us would like. I mean, Clamidiya? Really? I have to battle her? I thought this was a wrestling promotion, not a charity fund for streetwalkers. God, can you people see the headlines? ‘Madelyne McTaggert fights Clamidiya! Hookers everywhere rejoice!’ Ugh, it’s insulting. I mean, I don’t even rate a match with Ducky the Red-Nosed Retard? Instead, they give me Clamidiya, the walking talking poster child of anonymity. Who is this person? When was her last match?

You know what? Who cares when her last match was. The only time she was anything close to relative was when she played the role of bitch in none other than Syren’s debut. That’s right, sports fans. Her biggest accomplishment was to be Syren’s first victory in SCW. Two years ago, Clamidiya got her well-used ass kicked by a hottie who would soon become Women’s Champion.

Looks like history is about to repeat itself, sports fans!

Granted, this doorknob isn’t exactly my first match in this company… but hey, it’s a return, so bite me. And you should be grateful!

So yes. The blog will be short… but it will be back next week, once I have more to talk about!

Ta ta!
