Ok so maybe not a lot of you watch Ring of Honor so this may not even interest you. But for the past thirty six hours, this has been the biggest news in wrestling at the moment. Other than Kevin Steen(again for those who watch Ring of Honor you know who that is), my favorite ROH wrestler is Kenny King because he's awesome. Nuff said :P

Anyways two weeks, him and his partner Rhett Titus, known as the All Night Xpress, finally won the ROH Tag Team Titles. Apparently, on that night or maybe before that night. King's contract expired. Now ROH was in the process of locking him up with a long term deal and apparently, on Tuesday King and ROH came to a "handshake agreement," almost like a verbal commitment. Not official. Now with this handshake, King was still allowed to explore his options and talk to other companies. He just couldn't wrestle for that promotion. On that same day, he informed ROH that he would be talking to TNA. Thursday morning, he told ROH that he would be wrestling for TNA on that night, thus dishonoring the "handshake agreement" and which immediately prompted ROH on their site to announcement that they would "have no business with Kenny King going forward."

So that brings these questions, was King wrong for dishonoring an agreement that wasn't official? Is ROH at fault for putting the title on someone who's contract expired the night of that title victory? Are they at fault for not locking him up before than to prevent this? Discuss away

I almost forgot to mention that next week there's going to be an interview released of Kenny King and Titus talking about the state of ROH, which was filmed in May. Very important simply because of what was said even in this short, three minute teaser.

these guys make very little working for roh its fine and good to be loyal but eventually you have to do whatys better for you now the whole win a title and then jump ship its a little dishoronorable but at the same time its not like others havent jumped ship from roh in the past pretty much all of rohs top guys have jumped ship half the former champions are in wwe and tna now. he saw an opportunity he went for it look at shelley he left tna and you think hed be instantly signed by wwe but he hasnt been you only have these small windows where you can get in these companys and this was kenny king getting his spot when the coals are still hot when he is still in the spotlight,

What King said in that short teaser(which now I'm looking forward to hearing the entire interview) is just what I've said and even every ROH fan has said. There's a reason it's on the decline and King hit the nail on the head there. Judging by that interview, he saw the writing on the wall, Again, with ROH's roster being very thin at the moment and being that King is one of their most important pieces along with Steen, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Roderick Strong, etc, you have to lock him up. Also, I believe Austin Aries had somewhat of an influence in King jumping ships to TNA because of you do ROH, you would know around 2008-2010, Aries was aligned with the ANX. Plus TNA has been very solid for the past two months and when you look at King, you can tell he's big time so seeing him on a bigger stage to me is where he belongs.

He showed he isn't loyal when given the ball to run with.

ROH is stupid for putting a title on a guy with little to no contract.

King is stupid for spitting in their face. Loyalty is worth far more than credentials some days.

In this business, loyalty is worth a lot. However, when your livelihood is on the line and you're with the lower company of today's "Big Three," you sometimes have to do what's best for you. I don't agree or disagree with King's decision, but I think this needs to be a big wake-up call to ROH in general: You need to step your shit up on multiple fronts. People talk about TNA more than ROH...that's a problem.

Basically, here's the thing:

King will be blacklisted from ROH at worst. Too bad there's now plenty of other similar promotions (DGUSA, Evolve, PWG, Chikara, that I'm sure would happily use him) so his career impact is limited outside of losing a bit of profile, which at the end of the day, he was limitedly on (I can't even recall a Kenny King match on ROH programming).

ROH has effectively shown already it's not in TNA or WWE's league. This one move has made them look so minor league it's not funny. Add that he was holding one of their titles (while not on contract), just shows how poorly run ROH is right now. One can argue the casual impact on ROH here, but the fact is that if this trend continues (especially with rumours that Roderick Strong is being courted and Davey Richards making it clear he's retiring at the end of the year unless something changes), ROH is going to be hurting. It's a shame as I've wanted to see them succeed for a while, but since coming under Sinclair, I've seen them just lose all direction.

And I MUST point this out since it drives me nuts reading this on some sites. Jim Cornette is NOT in charge of ROH. He is not their head booker. He's their producer. He helps organize the shows and what not. Delirious is their head booker. He's the one making, in my opinion, some questionable booking decisions lately.

Yeah true. Kenny King has come a long way from being on the second season of Tough Enough. But he has grown into a big time wrestler. He's going to be a star in TNA.

But yeah, since Sinclair has taken over, they've gone away with what brought ROH to the dance and has almost turned it into a MMA, which it's clearly not. I still think ROH has hope. Michael Elign is a flat out stud. Adam Cole is as well. But yeah, Richards almost left two years ago to pursue being a firefighter. I think him leaving now would show that perhaps like King he sees the writing on the wall. Which brings the question, if I notice this and the ROH fan base notice this, I wonder how many other ROH wrestlers feel the way Kenny King did.

And I didn't know Delirious was still booking. I will admit I thought Cornette was booking and figured Delirious had left ROH, but I guess I was wrong there.

And to follow on Clauson's comment about TNA being talked about over ROH, I can make a case that Impact Wrestling the show has been better than Monday Night RAW for the past two months so yeah, TNA is starting hit on all cylinders.
