1) Ric Flair
2) Roddy Piper
3) Raven
4) Jimmy Jacobs (especially his work during AotF)
5) Jon Moxley

I know I'm gonna date myself a bit here, but Flair was the reason I got interested in wrestling as a kid. Watching his stuff from back in the old pre-Ted Turner days of WCW was amazing. The way he'd get all worked up when Mean Gene interviewed him, that's some promo gold right there.

Piper is Piper, all he needs is a mic and 5 minutes and he's gonna get over. Always entertaining to watch, and I tuned in to watch Piper during the days of 'Hulkamania', which should say something about his skill as a performer.

There were quite a few 'diamonds in the rough' back in the old Gordon/Heyman ECW, but the one that had it all, mic skills and ring psychology, mastered was Raven. Intelligent, crafty, a real student of the game, great sense of timing, and knows how to twist things just enough to make you think. I know everyone mentions the Raven/Dreamer feud, and that was great, but another lesser known one that imho was even better promo-wise was the Raven/Punk feud in RoH.

Jimmy Jacobs, terrabad early on, even I felt embarrassed for him during his early days as the 'Barbaric Bezerker', but once he got away from the silliness he really made huge improvements. He really came into his own as far as mic skils during the transition from his 'Lacey's Angels' era to becoming the leader of the Age of the Fall. His mic work got some added depth to it as he started to work concepts from literature and psychology into what he did. I do see him as the next generation Raven as far as promo skill goes.

Moxley, you can tell he was paying attention to the work of greats like Pillman, Piper, and Raven, can also tell that he learned alot from watching those guys. Where I think he really hit his stride was during his DGUSA feud with Jimmy Jacobs. The way those two worked that feud was a thing of beauty and a real treat to watch. Some of it is up on youtube, if you haven't seen those promos go watch them. http://youtu.be/agyvdGcVQLw <--- summary vid of the feud, containg clips from both men's promos, but trust me, the full promos are worth tracking down

Honorable mentions - 'Father' James Mitchell, Truth Martini, Prince Nana, 'Sensational' Sherri Martel, Ivory, Lovely Lacey, Daffney, Colt Cabana, Chris Jericho, Brian Pillman, Allison Danger, Daizee Haze, Leva Bates

Surprised no one mentioned Eddie Kingston. Easily one of the best talkers in wrestling today. Every promo he cuts it's great and he puts so much passion into it; especially this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1AGjIQKxNE

I looked this thread up to mention that my opinion has changed a bit.

My top 5 has changed.

1) Chris Jericho
Reason: To be honest...to this day to the changes that Jericho has made to his character who DOESN'T listen when he talks? In reality what other man could return to WWE, not say a word and turn from face to heel? Simply by NOT TALKING? Everyone want's to here the man speak. Not to mention the dude was the funniest guy ever.

2) The Rock
Reason: Suck it, writers or not Rock delivers it better than anyone. He could read a damn phone book and I'd listen.
Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4htcn-tB4A&feature=related

3) Jake Roberts
Reason: Doesn't need one. He was just down right...sick.
Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaDxp_NV34s&feature=related

4) Raven
Reason: I feel bad for forgetting him. WWE's run with him made me forget his early stuff in ECW and WCW. His promo's to Dreamer and Sandman were just sick in ECW and in WCW he had awesome promo's against DDP.
Proof: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xceq23_th...il-ever-p_sport

5) Macho Man Randy Savage
Reason: This dude stood out. Sorry Piper but Macho Man was the King, the Man, the Master of the Slim Jim lol
Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1ckVngni1s
as well as lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D59Bjl3MWWs

I honestly wanna bring reference to someone who was down right awesome and people tend to forget. Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. He was fucking awesome.

Wanna Mention...CM Punk...Love him...but his hype is gone now and I agree it's WWE's fault. I loved him last year. As a heel he will do great in PG but as a face he's reduced to lame as jokes. Jericho has saved him right now.

I normally don't take anyone's opinion that isn't Olek to seriously. I checked out Ambrose.. I approve. Olek also approved. As he put it. "The only good thing to come out of CZW"

JEEEYYSUS

Well I would put Adam Cole in that catgory as "best things that have came out of CZW" also because he is awesome and he is one to watch for in the future. And this promo he cut about this year's Best of Los Angeles(which he actually won) is amazing.

Not bad, more of a shoot though. I don't think it's comparable to Ambrose / Moxley.

But not a bad shoot. I didn't click off of it so it serves it's purpose.

Well most wrestlers can't compare to Moxley promo wise so that may be a bit unfair lol. But yeah Cole is a great talker, though in ROH that don't really show that. if anyone from CZW that I think promo wise could hold his own with Moxley would be Eddie Kingston because he puts so much emotion in his that he makes it real.

Obviously I'm joking about this, but his man is awesome. Reverse good I call him. And I'm convinced he's the voice of Cleveland.

Freight Train reminds me of Kent Jones.
