Simon: So that's it, Trinity has lost faith with my ability to compete with anyone, and I was just wondering if you had two?

Sitting across from Simon Lyman while the two of them wait for Breakfast, a very skeptical looking Donovan Kayl seems almost amused by the statement

Donovan: I should hit you for even asking me that, but I'd really like to hit Richard instead.

Simon: I know that look. Your about to tell me that is a stupid question.

Donovan: Last year in December, just 4 months ago, you were the SCW United States Champion and one half of the SCW World Tag Team Champions.

Simon nods

Simon: Yes, I was. But that seems like six years ago now, instead of 4 months.

Donovan: Just focus on facts, not how it feels. 4 months ago, you were a doub champion in a company that is stacked with talent from top to bottom, that takes a ton of ability. You and I both have been doing this long enough that we know you don't lose ability like that in four months.

Simon stares down at his coffee

Simon: I lost to Rachel

Donovan nods matter of factly

Donovan: This year you have lost to a lot of people, Rachel included.

Simon looks up and briefly stares

Simon: Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Donovan shakes his head

Donovan: That right there is your entire problem brother.

Simon: What?

Donovan: Confidence.

You have all of the ability in the world. You can beat anyone in the world when you step in between the ropes.

Donovan smirks

Donovan: But it's what is between your ears that is the problem for you.

They have gotten to you. All of the talk about you being failure, you have always heard it.

Simon shrugs

Simon: When I hear it often enough, it's unavoidable.

Donovan: Right, but now you are just not hearing it, your are listening.

And then everytime you lose, you believe you are a failure, a little bit more.

I'm going to tell you something, and you might not like it, but I knew Rachel was going to win at Retribution before you two ever stepped in the ring, and do you know why?

Simon stiffens up

Simon: Why?

Donovan: Because you were desparate. You were willing to put your LIFE on the line to win that match, to beat them.

That's desparation, and in all the time I have known you Simon, you have never been desparate.

Desparate wrestlers are carless, careless wrestlers make mistake that cost them matches.

Donovan stares across the table

Donovan: Do you understand what I am saying? Simon, your losing right now because it's your head....

THEY are in your head....

and as long as they are, you are going to keep losing. But it's not a lack of ability

It's your mentality that's beating you.

Food comes and the two start to eat, not much else being said as the scene fades

The Rebound

Simon: One thing that I have always been able to do well in my career until recently is rebound. My style is what it is. I take risks in the ring to put on a show, and even though that can cause me to lose a few matches I should win, that has never manifested itself into a long losing streak until recently.

I have always been able to come back on the rebound. Right now though, I am experiecing quicksand.

One match goes wrong....

And another...

and another....

It's like quicksand, and soon I am sinking, unable to get up. When I'm sinking is when I hear the voices:

“You are a failure”

I have to stop the voices, to stop the sinking.

That will happen when I get my rematch and beat Rachel. For now though, I must concentrate on the rebound, and Dylan Cent at Breakdown you are my rebound, and my focus is beating you.

So welcome to the show, Dylan Cent....

It's going to....

BE SENSATIONAL!

It was a situation that bothered Dylan, he hated the fact that he upstaged at the Retribution pre-show but a cocky little shit who decided to steal the moment right out from under Dylan. Doing the heavy lifting of the match was setting Dylan up to claim the number one contenders spot for the Adrenaline Championship but now finds himself out of contention and looking to figure out where to go next. It didn’t sit well with him, this was what he wanted and what he went out of his way for to carve his own path but now felt like it was stolen from a guy who thinks that he is entitled to everything and doesn’t have to work hard to get anywhere. Seeing the same thing happen on Breakdown also showed that Axel was nothing more than an opportunist and someone who feasted on stealing the moment, it burned Dylan inside because he prided himself on working hard and earning his place and his opportunities. Regardless of where people stood in the company and what they had done previously, entitlement was not something that Dylan cared for.

John: Dude, you just need to get over it, what’s done is done and you have to move on.

Dylan: I know but I hate the fact that he just fucking stole that out of nowhere, after I planted the guy with the Center Piece, I get kicked in the head out of nowhere and lose the match.

John just laughed a little knowing what he was about to say.

John: Maybe next time you just need to pay attention to everyone around you and this wouldn’t happen.

Dylan sternly looked at John, knowing he was right.

Dylan: It’s still bullshit.

John: Well that being said, he’s the number one contender now and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Dylan didn’t want to believe that, he wanted this opportunity and he wanted to show that he was the one who rightfully belonged there. He knew going after Axel would be foolish and ambushing him or pulling out sneaky tactics would be a mistake and go against what he wanted to do for himself.

Dylan:  He may have won that match, but he didn’t earn the right to be number one contender.

Dylan walks away, disgusted at the fact that this has happened.

Dylan and Crystal were out on a walk, enjoying some much needed fresh air and trying to get away from everything. It seemed like the perfect evening for the two of them after such a harsh travelling schedule and having last breakdown off to just relax and let thing settle in after what happened at Retribution. It was a quiet night in New York, the wind was bristling a little bit and they were both wearing long spring like jackets and looked really put together. A very cute couple that were just trying to enjoy a peaceful evening knowing that they would be flying out for Breakdown soon., however as much as he wanted to enjoy this he was still bothered by what happened at Retribution and Crystal was starting to pick up on that while they were walking. Seeing Dylan’s face still somewhat down although he was trying to keep a straight face and enjoy his time with her, the ice finally broke.

Crystal: Dylan, can we please just enjoy this walk, I’ve wanted to enjoy a nice evening with you for awhile now and we finally have that chance and you’re still looking like you’re bummed out.

Dylan was trying really hard, he just hated the fact that he was that close to making a breakthrough and it was stolen from him. He turns and looks at Crystal.

Dylan: I know, I’m sorry, it still just bothers me though, I had worked my ass off leading up to that match and we even went and set it up feeling that this was our time and then that son of a bitch thinks he can just punk me out of it.

Crystal just smiles at him and brushes her hair back.

Crystal: Dylan, it’s not the end of the world, you’ve been doing well since we started this and one little set back isn’t going to change anything. We know that Axel is nothing more than someone who thinks he has to have the world handed to him and that’s been evident ever since you first challenged him.

Dylan knew that was the case, he was someone that could easily move on from this and would have plenty of chances moving forward, he needed to show that this loss wasn’t going to affect him and he needed to make a statement. He smiled and felt a little more relaxed.

Dylan: Maybe I really should just focus on moving forward, besides, I can showcase exactly why I asked for that match in the first place. Maybe there can be a possibility that things can change knowing that it was taken from me when I had rightfully earned it.

Crystal smiled seeing her boyfriend acting the way he should be, she rested her head against his shoulder and they continued walking along the quiet New York night.

Dylan looked focused, ready to take the next step that isn’t along the lines of an Adrenaline Championship opportunity. Even though he felt that he should have won that match, knowing that it was stolen from him by a cocky arrogant prick. He knew it would only be a matter of time before it caught up to him.

Dylan: Understand something, I am bitter about what happened but all it shows Axel is that you’re not as good as you think you are.

You’re an opportunist, a man who can only win by seizing the moment and doing jackshit to earn it. You thrive on stealing it because it’s really the only way you know how to win. I could throw a fit, get pissed and talk about how I did the work for you and you get the spoils of war from kicking me upside my head and stealing the pin for yourself. I hope you got all the action you can handle cause you’re going to look like an even bigger bitch when you’re championship opportunity goes right up in smoke.

I’m leaving it at that though, know that I am the bigger man and I am going to move on from this in a positive way. I know how things should have went down and knowing the type of man you are, you’re nothing more than someone who doesn’t know how to work hard and earn what he gets in this business.

You and I will cross again and I will make damn sure that you remember just exactly who I am.

Dylan cracked his knuckled and looked determined to move forward.

Dylan: I want to earn my place here, I want to be someone who shows that work does pay off and I will never claim entitlement to anything. Win or lose I will always learn from it and I will make sure that the next time I have an opportunity like this, these same mistakes will not repeat themselves and I will be more vigilant to ensure I am not dupped by an arrogant douchebag again.

Breakdown this week presents me the opportunity to make a statement regarding what happened. While I won’t be performing and sneak attacks or showing any form of distain and begging for a title match because I feel I was screwed, I will make people talk and I will make people see that I am a title contender and I will once again earn my opportunity.

That brings me to you Simon; I know you’re in deep right now after the things you are going through. Looking like you’re ready to give up by walking into Richard’s office shows that you can’t fight it anymore and that’s disappointing. Although I know nothing of your history and nothing regarding what you’ve been going through or dealing with, if the writing is on the wall then let me at least attempt to tell you that you don’t need to give in and make a deal if you do decide to walk down that road. At least have the balls to keep fighting if you know it’s the right thing to do. If you need help, I can provide that if you’re looking for support then let me prove it to you in the ring and we tear the house down. Get some aggression ot or whatever it is and the Center Piece can prove that he can hold his own and show that I can be a force in this business.

You don’t know me at all Simon but if you are thinking of giving up then come sit at the table, come face to face with the Center Piece and let me prove that you can have allies in this fight you have and someone who can step up to the plate because it’s become obvious that you’re getting in too deep and Richard’s influence is only going to keep getting the better of you.

Just think about it.

Dylan shook his head, focused on what’s to come.
