Okay, so, first things first: I would like to apologize to Lexi Von Aaron's handler for my blah and unfinished piece. Now, I know most of you don't know me all that well yet so I'll have to give you a little bit of history. My partner, (boyfriend, unmarried husband type creature, whatever) John, and I have been rescuing cats for a long time. At this current point in time we have six fur babies rocking around the old homestead. Our pets are our children. Last week, during the election in fact, we noticed a large lump on Starlet's leg. Her behavior had been normal, no strange movements or noises or anything so we had no idea something was so wrong. When John took her to the vet the next morning, he was told it was a hematoma and the vet lanced it and drained it and sent her home. Sadly, her blood refused to clot and the wound bled freely for the next 24 hours. On Friday Aussie time, John took her to a different vet not trusting the first lady. He was right. The second vet confirmed there was a snake bite and had a suspect- a Tiger snake. Among other things, Tiger snake venom causes blood to stop clotting. He sent us to a larger metro vet for 24 hour care because snake bites are dicey in this country. Long story short: This week the vet told us that the snake bite had been complicated by the fact that she had an as yet undiagnosed cancer that was running rampant. We've been allowed to bring her home for palliative care but we also are aware that we have a very short time with her. Star has always been the world's best cat, our beloved daughter, and knowing she can be home with us for our last few days is a balm on the wounded soul of our little family. I apologize again for my messy posting, and would like to thank Olek and J for their help in improving it. Thank you all, Jaz. (Kara) |

Christ, that sounds awful. As a lifelong owner of cats myself, it fucking sucks when they get ill. Best animals in the world to have as pets (I feel more for cats than I do for people in all honesty). I'm sure others will agree but take all the time you need, Star's in need of your full focus and attention more than this place is right now. Best of luck and hopefully, there's as little suffering as possible. No doubt she knows she's loved so that's always a plus. |

Really sorry to hear that. It's always hard watching a pet suffer, I'd be in pieces if it was one of my dogs. Hopefully she goes with as little suffering as possible and I'm sure she knows how much she was loved! |

To be fair, your toes aren't very far from your heart, shorty.
