Heir to the Throne

“The Level That Must Be Reached”

Selena's ribs burned, feeling as if they were on fire under her skin and melting her lungs and internal organs. For the umpteenth time, she mentally cursed Regan Street – despite doing her best not think about the Hellcat of SCW. But the pain was a – painful – and sharp reminder as the Snow Queen walked down the halls, her hand placed over her ribs gently, trying to soothe the muscles to relax, the pain to subside.

It had been the former Platinum member attacking Selena with those metal steps back at Hazardous Envy before their World Title match. The former best friend of Selena had done all she could to take the World title from the Snow Queen, even hedging her bet by attacking Selena before the match had actually begun. And while Selena had managed to stun many by still managing to defeat Regan, the damage had clearly been done.

Since that night and into the Trios Tournament, as much as Selena couldn't admit it out-loud, even then and there as she walked along through the halls of the AT&T Centre – since that night, she had been a damaged wrestler. Regan may not have defeated the Snow Queen, but she had cut her – metaphorically speaking – and Selena's blood had been spilled into the water.... and the sharks had immediately come out.

Her ribs had been the target – the bullseye – for every person that desired to take Selena down. It had started with Trios but then, Vixen Cain had used the injury to help secure a win over Selena and become the World Champion.

And in that roofed cage a few moments ago?

Selena stopped as a stab of pain hit her. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, swallowing the pain and forcing it down deep into herself, riding the wave of pain that hit her from either breathing too deep or moving too fast – she wasn't sure sometimes which was causing the stabs of pain. In that roofed cage, Blake Mason and Bree Lancaster had not hesitated to use those ribs to slow Selena down.

Of course, you kicking Kelcey in the face sure didn't help things...

Angrily, Selena intentionally breathed deep – and groaned at the pain that shot through her from the action. She felt that it was like her punishment, one she was glad to accept for her stupidity. How could she have done that?! How could she have missed that kick and taken down Kelcey! That was something a rookie would do – but she was a three year veteran! Had she not learned anything from her tag-team matches with the likes of Dawn Lohan, Sienna Swann, and Regan Street? Had she learned nothing from dealing with Blake and Bree in the past that they would be so slippery?

But no! She had hit her own partner with the Glass Shard and cost her team the match! Cost Kelcey her desired revenge from being perfect!

Shaking her head, Selena stopped as her eyes spotted the door to the change room. Her and Kelcey had been grouped together for the night (with them being on the same team for the pay-per-view main-event) along with Shawn Mason, Kelcey's manager. Her hand reached out, ready to grab the door handle but she stopped herself. She hadn't had time to change out of her wrestling attire. Instead, she had been pressured by the staff to visit the on-site medical staff SCW brought for their shows to see if their were any immediate issues regarding the aggravated injury of Selena's ribs. Selena hadn't even been able to see Kelcey or Shawn amidst the chaos backstage, but she had, eventually, been able to dismiss the staff and medics – promising to come back at some point later to get checked on. She had no intention of keeping that promise, though. What were they going to say? That the injury was re-aggravated?

She didn't need to be a medic to know that. If Cain had done it with that damn spear, then Bree Lancaster had with the same move (which she called the Classifier) and all the other attacks that the B and B Experience had put on her ribs throughout the match. She knew the ribs were re-injured. She knew that the bullseye was still on those ribs and wasn't going to go away any time soon. And she knew that, if she was asked to perform in the next Breakdown, she would without hesitation.

So what new information could a medic say? “Get on painkillers.”? Selena scoffed at the mere notion of such an idea. Painkillers were out of the question for the Snow Queen. She would endure this pain and worse than risk becoming addicted to those pills again. She had been so scared of losing and looking weak in the eyes of SCW that she had been willing to do anything to remove her pain and fear, including that dreaded NX drug. And what had that desperation done? Almost cost her the job she loved and the woman she loved more than anything in this world! No. Selena thought to herself – she would endure this pain and worse and NEVER be so weak again.

And yet...there she was, standing in her wrestling gear – terrified to open the door and face Kelcey Wallace. Terrified of seeing the same look of blame and judgment that she had seen from so many superstars like Regan and even, on occasion, Sienna Swann whenever Selena had spoken her mind too much or said something too controversial or upfront on Twitter.

She had made a promise to Kelcey to help her. To be the difference in her war with Blake Mason and help her get to where she wanted to be with her revenge for her husband – Chris Cannon - and the others that had suffered at the hands of the two cowards. Kelcey could be mad at Selena for all she cared – gods knew she deserved that. She could declare her intention to destroy the Snow Queen now in their future match Selena had promised the Perfect One. Selena could deal with that too.

But what Selena couldn't deal with was the look on Kelcey's face that screamed the obvious truth. “You let me down.”. Because she had promised otherwise!

Taking a short breath and fighting back the pain, Selena slowly opened the door, sliding in as gracefully as she could and closing the door behind her. The room was one of the Terrace Suites (a few of the several in the arena had been booked for superstars) and Selena could see the black sofa and chairs in the upper centre of the room. She saw those first because sitting on the couch was Kelcey. Like Selena, she was still in her wrestling attire. Her head was resting on the back of the couch and her eyes were fixated on the ceiling. Despite herself, Selena could not stop looking at the bruise forming around the former World Champion's eye – no doubt from that errant kick.

Without a word, Selena marched over to catering table (which was empty as only three individuals occupied this space for the event) and grabbed her phone, shoving it into one of the straps of her top, as well as a plastic bag. Next, she moved to the other side of the room and pulled open several drawers until she opened the one she was looking for – the ice maker. Grabbing several ice-cubes, Selena filled the plastic bag and zip-locked it shut. Ignoring any pain in her body, the Snow Queen took a deep breath before slowly walking towards the very still Kelcey.

Slowly, Selena, standing just a few feet from Kelcey, held the bag of ice to her rival and tag partner. Kelcey didn't acknowledge her or make a move towards the bag.

“Kelcey...” Selena tried to say, but her voice barely came out as a whisper. She knew she had fucked up. She knew she had REALLY fucked up. But her concern for Kelcey was beating out her fear of being yelled at or disappointing Kelcey. Sitting down on the couch beside Kelcey (on the side where Selena could see the swelling bruise around Kelcey's eye), Selena slowly pressed the bag of ice to the swelling area.

“You need to ice this.” she said softly.

The cold seemed to snap something in Kelcey, for the young woman jolted a little at the cold before turning her head to look at Selena – recognizing her then and there. “Oh...wha-” she held the bag against her eye. “Thanks. Shouldn't you be seeing the doctor?”

“Don't thank me.” Selena said quietly, looking down at her hands and ignoring Kelcey's question. “You really should be just taking your shots on me.”
“My shots?” Kelcey asked in confusion.
“Yeah. Punch me in the ribs – yell at me. That sort of thing.”
“Why? Because you kicked me in the eye?” Kelcey half-laughed.

Slowly, Selena nodded. “I don't suppose me saying 'I'm sorry' is going – what am I saying? Of course it won't.”

There was a moment of silence as Selena kept her eyes on her hands and Kelcey held the ice to her eye.

“You know...” the Perfect Ten finally said. “You would think that after all the times you've kicked me in the head, I would either develop some kind of immunity to it or at least get a coupon or something. Like those coffees at McDonalds.”
“I'm sorry!” Selena blurted out. “I'm sorry I kicked you. I'm sorry I cost us the match! I'm sorry I fucked up!”

Kelcey turned her head to regard the Snow Queen. “Feel better now that you got that out of your system?”

Selena shook her head. “No. I feel like crap. We...We had them, didn't we?” Selena asked, the former World Champion turning to look at the young brunette. “We had them bloody and beaten, right? – we had them and I...”

“I know. I was there. I'm not going to say I'm not ticked that, even when you're my partner, you end up kicking me in the head. I feel like your feet are like homing missiles to my goddamn face.”

“How can you joke, Kelcey?!” Selena asked in disbelief. “Why aren't you pissed? Why aren't you mad at me? If it were Regan or Sienna, they would be enraged at me! They would be furious that I-”

“I'm not your Platinum friends. That's why.” Kelcey said coldly and sternly, as if to drive that fact straight through Selena's skull with just the sound of her voice. Kelcey breathed slowly. “I know you didn't mean to do it. I know it was an accident. And...” she paused for a moment to sit up straight, her hand still on the ice pressed up against her eye. “If I'm being deadly honest, I feel like it's my fault.”

Selena's eyes widened in surprise. “How? How the hell is it your fault? You did everything – I hate using this word with you but – perfectly. You were...I don't know – it was something else.”

“Yeah. I know.” Kelcey agreed. “And that was the problem. We had them beat...I knew it. And I didn't stop it. I could have...could have pinned William then and there. Finished the match. But I wanted him to be punished further. I should have beaten him when I had a chance. But I wanted you to get your shots in too. I wanted to drag the match on in that cage. And I put that pressure on you to be part of that. To keep punishing them both – and I shouldn't have...”

“Stop.” Selena begged, reaching out to take Kelcey's free hand into both of hers, fighting the discomfort and burning in her ribs. “Please.” She bit her lower lip, trying hard not to let the pain or her fears get the better of her as she spoke. “I...you didn't force me into this – and you didn't put pressure on me to keep up with you. I wanted to...”

She felt tears prick her eyes, but Selena wasn't sure if that was because of the pain in her body or the emotional roller-coaster playing within her due to her honest confession.

“You have no idea how much I wanted to.” Selena spoke slowly. “How good it felt to do what we did in there...but I got scared...”
“Scared?” Kelcey asked, her voice filled with confusion as Selena nodded, the memory of the match of such a short while ago replaying before her eyes.

“I was there in the ring – Bree was down from my Glass Shard and you were near Blake...”

Selena looked around as she sucked wind into her lungs – trying her best not to pass out from lack of air. Her ribs made breathing harder and harder but she refused to pass out. NO!

The Snow Queen looked around the ring as she was on her hands and knees. She saw Bree Lancaster, her face bloodied with that crimson mask. She saw Blake wearing a similar mask and Selena saw Kelcey, who was starting to come to as well.

“I saw them both – bloody and ready to just fall and accept defeat. I saw them beaten... And all I could see in that moment was Sienna and Simon. It wasn't enough for me, Kelcey. They weren't punished enough. I wanted to do more.”

Pushing herself to her feet in the ring, Selena joined Kelcey Wallace (also on her feet) in pulling William Mason to his feet and kicking him in the ribs.

“I have never wanted to hurt someone like that before. Punish someone that far and- it was like the pain in my ribs just added to it. They wanted to end our careers and humiliate us for weeks. I just wanted to...”

“I understand, Selena.”
“No, you don't! Because-”

”Your turn!” Kelcey barked to Selena, setting William Mason up for a Glass Shard of his own. Selena smiled and nodded her head, listening to the fans chant “We Believe! We Believe!”.

“I wanted it as bad as the fans did – as bad as you did! He would have stayed down for three if I had just let you pin him. But I wanted this. Dammit, he deserved this! For Sienna, Simon, Chris, everyone...”

Selena stepped back, ready to deliver the most powerful Glass Shard she could muster from her legs.

“But as I saw him standing there, barely conscious...I saw...”
“What?” Kelcey asked.
“My daughter, Kelcey. I saw Elsianna.”

”Mommy!” the child cried as she stood in front of Selena, holding her arms out. “Don't hurt the dragon. It's beaten. You've done it!”

“I saw her standing there, begging me not to do this. To just end the match. The whole thing may have only been a second but it felt like forever to me. She was begging me to not go down the path that Mason said I would go down when this was all over.”

”Don't turn into that dragon, mommy. Please.”
“But I AM a dragon!” Selena's mind screamed back at the child she knew couldn't possibly be there. This was needed! This was right! This had to happen! And yet, she was hesitating. She was afraid. Afraid that she was crossing the line. Afraid of becoming that which she hated.

“I was afraid in that moment, Kelcey.” Selena finally confessed, the rest of the match playing in her head – from the kick that took down her own partner to the spear that took Selena down. “I hesitated for a second because I was scared that I was becoming like...”

“Everyone else you've face before?” Kelcey asked, finishing Selena's train of thought.

The Snow Queen nodded. “The scariest thing is? If I could undo anything in the match? I know it wouldn't be me asking you just to pin William. It would be me NOT hesitating and kicking his goddamn head off!” Selena's voice growled.

“Selena...”

“I know!” Selena cried out, dropping her head into her hands. “I shouldn't feel this way! I shouldn't want this but I do! Gods help me I do! They deserve it! They deserve worse!”

The Snow Queen's body shook as the sobs wracked her frame. Her body ached both physically and emotionally. In that moment, all she wanted was her wife's arms around her. To lose herself in the love and embrace Deanna's arms always provided and not emerge until she was once more herself.

But deep in her heart, Selena knew that that was a fantasy. There was no going back from this. She could feel the change – she had tasted the need to punish beyond merely a pinfall or submission. It wasn't a survival instinct like other times with such superstars like Rachel Foxx or Regan Street, where it was “kill or be killed”. No, this had been a desire to hurt beyond what was necessary and Selena had embraced it without a thought until the very end – wanting to even afterwards.

“There's no coming back from this, is there?” she whispered. “And I'm scared...what they'll think.”
“The fans?” Kelcey asked, removing the ice pack to better see her rival/partner.
“Everyone!” Selena stated. “You heard the rumours. Cain and Amy? People on the board being on their different sides? What will they think about me now? What will the SCW think – and what do I tell my daughter? My son? My wife?”

Selena bit her lower lip, desperately wanting to speak her old mantra (something she had not spoken in months – old habits clearly dying hard). Before she could even think it, though, she felt Kelcey wrap her arms around the Snow Queen, shocking Selena into stillness and her mind going blank.

“You tell them that you realized how much you were willing to fight for them and for SCW. You tell them that you were willing to risk everything to truly make those jackasses pay for the people they hurt. You tell them the truth – that you'd do it again and gladly because they DID deserve it! That's what you do!”

Unable to stop the pain/emotion combination waging within her, Selena clung to Kelcey with what strength she had, letting a few more sobs escape her. She had dealt with so much – losing the World title and failing Kelcey and almost losing herself – Kelcey was no Deanna but Selena was grateful none the less. Slowly, though, she felt Kelcey push her back slightly to better look at her.

“What you need to really ask yourself, Selena.” she said. “Is whether or not you're ready to do that again. Because it wasn't just Bree and Blake that took the World title from you. You weren't willing to go as far as you could have on someone that deserved it. Deserved to pay for what they did. And if you can't go that far. If you're not willing to go that far, you need to stop trying to be the best around here. Because...”

She stopped for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. “You can't just glide around her being humble and just wanting to wrestle. Not anymore. You're...” Kelcey sighed before smirking. “You're too goddamn good. And people will do whatever they can now to beat you. Cheat, lie, threaten your loved ones. Whatever they can do. And if you're not willing to fight for those loved ones and SCW like you did in that cage...then you need to stop and leave SCW. Do you understand? Because you or those close to you are just going to get hurt.”

It was bizarre...but listening to it that way, Selena did understand. She could also pray and hope that people would just want to wrestle her and treat a match with her as just that. A wrestling competition. What she loved to do. But to believe that everyone would be like that? To believe that every opponent she faced would be honourable? Would not take cheap shots? Would just target her and no one close to her or try and play games?

Ravyn Taylor, Regan Street, Dylan Howell, and countless others – people desperate to win and prove a “superiority” to someone like her? At first, no one wanted that. She had been a rookie – a Disney rip-off or something like that. But 2016? It had shattered that fascade and Selena knew it. Now everyone wanted to beat her – and many were desperate to do it or desperate to prove themselves greater than her. It was why Cain paraded around with Selena's white-leather belt – something else she was eager to address at some point.

Slowly, Selena nodded her head to Kelcey's question. “I don't want to leave.” she whispered. “I don't want to let them get away with what they've done. I don't want them to ever do something like what they've done again. Blake, Bree, Cain – all of them.”

Selena saw Kelcey slowly smile and nod her head. “Good. Because I'm grateful to you for going to war with me.”

Playfully, the Perfect Ten embraced Selena once more before shooing her away. “Now go get checked by the medics right now.”
“I'm-”
“If you say you're fine, I'm going to punch you in the ribs till you go.”
“Alright!” Selena quickly said, getting to her feet and heading for the door. She had just opened it when she heard Kelcey's voice again.

“Selena?”

The Snow Queen turned around to see her partner and rival. “There's nothing wrong with righteous anger and punishment. And by the time you and I face off again...I expect you to understand that. Or else.”

The thinly-veiled threat did not go unnoticed by the white-haired Frost, who slowly nodded her head. “I'll be ready when that day comes.” she said before slowly leaving Kelcey to her musings and ice-pack.

Still, as she slowly walked back down the halls of the arena, her mind was filled with everything Kelcey had told her. The fans hadn't hated her for wanting to do more punishment. They had understood. They had cheered for her – chanting “We Believe!”, hadn't they? - Selena was sure she hadn't just made that up. She was certain. They wanted the bad guys to get their comeuppance. For a level of punishment that, perhaps, went beyond simple wrestling. That was personal and, instead of just beating them, Selena could go further – if it was necessary.

The notion had initially terrified Selena and reduced her to tears in that changeroom. But now? Well, it was still terrifying, but it was also...a relief? Uplifting a little? Because she hadn't been the victim in that roofed cage. She hadn't been the victim that was held back security and did nothing about having the World Title stolen from her. No! She had done something about it and while B&B would certainly brag about this on Twitter and in their promos, they would certainly never forgot being carried out of the ring, covered in blood. And that such a punishment would always be waiting in the wings in Selena Frost and Kelcey Wallace. And even if it caused Bree and Blake to think twice before threatening another person's career with their twisted views of how SCW should be...then...then...

“Then it would be worth it.” Selena whispered, finishing her train of thought.

Taking a deep breath, Selena fished out her cellphone from her top and looked at the screen. She saw that she had missed seven calls from Deanna – no doubt wanting to check on her. She was about to call her wife and let her know when, once again, Kelcey's advice ran through Selena's mind. About doing more and being more than before.

With a sigh, Selena nodded her head. That wisdom didn't necessarily only apply to wrestling, did it?

Firing a quick “I'm alright. Will call later.” text to her wife, Selena then searched through her list of phone numbers until she found the one she was looking for, establishing the call. The target place was hours behind her, still in their evening while she was deep in the night.

She heard the phone dialing and fought the nerves and butterflied in her stomach. She needed to do this. No more hiding! No more gliding through! - like Kelcey had said.

“Hello...” came the voice of a secretary, clearly. “Malcolm Scythe, Mayor or Nome's office, how can I direct your call.”
“Yes.” Selena said sharply, trying to show no pain in her voice from her breathing. “Put me through to the Mayor please – if he's available.”
“One moment. May I ask who is calling?”

“His...” Selena stopped for a moment. She didn't want to just say her name. She wanted to say something that would definitely get his attention. Something that he couldn't ignore. “The mother of his grandchildren.”

There was a moment of silence for a moment, but the woman on the other line eventually spoke up. “Umm...grandchildren?”
“Yes. Two of them.” Selena replied.
“Alright. One moment please.”

Whether the girl believed such a thing was not Selena's concern. After all, to the average observer, Malcolm Scythe had no grandchildren from either his sons, Ryan and Gavin. To suddenly have two? Well, that was surely going to stun anyone that was told. The notion brought a smile to Selena's face. Now Malcolm was someone that, if looked in a roof cage with Selena – there would be no hesitation on the Snow Queen's end. She would just have launched her kick.

Quietly, still walking down the halls, Selena waited for a response, even going outside to the parking lot to try and get better reception, due to it taking so damn long to connect. She kept checking her phone screen, seeing how long she had been on hold for. And when the time reached five minutes and kept going, Selena was beyond frustrated. She didn't want to wait. She wanted to speak her mind the way she was now – driven and willing to go farther than before – against those that deserved it.

“I'm sorry-” came the sudden voice of the same woman (the secretary) once again. “Mayor Scythe is currently in a very important meeting-”
“Oh he is, is he?” Selena half-laughed, even if it hurt.
“Yes. Can I take a more detailed message?”
“Yes.” Selena replied without thinking. “Please tell the mayor that I will be returning home in a few days and will be dropping by to discuss the 'family issues'.” she stressed the last part.

“Alllllright.” The secretary stated, clearly writing down the information/message as she drew out the 'l' sound of the word. “And can I ask for your name?”
“Selena.” Selena replied.
“Should I include the whole 'mother of grandchildren'?”.
“Oh I hope you do.” Selena smiled. “He might get a nice kick out of it.”

She hung up the phone, terminating the call, and took as painless of a breath as she could. She was in no shape to really fight or face Malcolm Scythe – in fact, she wasn't even sure if she could handle a bumpy flight ride back to Nome, Alaska, with how she felt now. But...Kelcey's words burned in her mind, repeating themselves over and over again.

Someone in her family had to take a stand – for her, Deanna, Elsianna and David. For the VanHohenheims and even DeCarlos. Someone had to say “No! This will not stand!” and be willing to go further – to where it was needed.

And, though Selena hadn't completely succeeded with Kelcey against the B&B Experience – maybe she could do it against Malcolm. Maybe it was her personal life that needed this “new Selena” first and foremost.

Afterall...all great changes and movements...they had to start somewhere, right?

Heir to the Throne

“It's All In The Family”

Selena wasn't afraid. It was odd, but in a good way to the Snow Queen. She felt many things. Anger, frustration for a number of people – several in SCW included – concern for the well being of those she had left behind in Manhattan and perhaps even a little guilt at the secrecy of her travels.

In truth, only the young woman's wife, Deanna Frost, was aware of Selena's travels straight from the AT&T Centre, where Retribution had occurred only a few days ago, all the way back to her homeland in Nome, Alaska.

Quietly, Selena looked out the lobby window to the outside. The snow...it caused the Snow Queen to smile. Winters were beyond cold in Nome – it was why she shook her head whenever people in the states or Canada would complain about the coldness of their winter. They had no idea what cold truly was. But Selena smiled comfortably. For despite the coldness of the snow, winters in Nome were beyond beautiful. The sunrise bouncing light of amber and gold off the frozen white of the grounds, the flurries that danced within the air – there was no way of counting the number of times Selena, in her life, had just sat in her old house with the lights off and watched the snowfall.

The cold was...it was part of her. Part of her upbringing – a steady constant. Given her upbringing in Nome, it was also something that was healing and revitalizing. If the heat drained the Snow Queen, then the cold was like fuel to the fire inside her.

It was why Selena had chosen to go hiking for three hours in the early morning that day before showering and making her way to the downtown center of Nome. To the city hall. Because she needed to feel alive and full of energy. She needed to feel confident. She wanted to be at her best.

Quietly, Selena rubbed her hands together, her eyes still fixated on the snow falling outside. The hike had not been easy. She had stuck to the simple trails through the woods and hills and stayed away from some of the harder paths she had taken in her past when she went on journeys like this. After all, she had no desire to make things worse on her ribs. Gently, the former World Champion took a deep breath, feeling the ache in her side as she did. The pain was less than it had been a few days ago but it was still there, a constant reminder of her very real weakness. It made sleeping difficult and training troublesome without painkillers. For the last few days, Selena had stuck with yoga and stretching with her workouts, trying her best to heal herself the best she could.

Being in the cold of Nome helped – and she truly needed as much help as she could in her upcoming confrontations. Nome was one thing she was dealing with presently, but she knew of another.

Breakdown.

Without thinking, Selena's hands gently rested on her ribs. She was elated and terrified at the same time. She was set to face Bree Lancaster, as sort of a soft rematch from Retribution. SCW had gone all out promoting the match online and throughout social media – posting it as the main-event of the night.

That was something that Selena had noticed. For despite the bad fortune of how Retribution had gone, Selena was still beyond grateful for everything SCW had gifted her with. They had made a custom leather belt for her – she pushed that aside to avoid thinking of the actions of the current World Champion, Vixen Cain. They assisted with any issues or injuries the Snow Queen suffered – even though she was stubborn as hell and often kept such information to herself – and now?

Now they were naming a damn Pay-per-view after her. SCW had not been shy at Retribution in posting the name of their next super-event. “Broken Beliefs”. It wasn't just a Supreme Saturday (though Selena would still have been honoured by that as well). No, this was a HUGE pay-per-view. Only a few superstars like Kennedy Street, Syren and Alexis Qunne had had pay-per-views named after them. And now Selena...she had one too.

It was humbling and, while she was beyond grateful and honoured, at this particular point in time – the gift only served to remind Selena of where she was and what she was.

She was in Nome, set to face Bree Lancaster next Breakdown....and she was beyond injured.

She was slower, her ribs impeding in her and making moves that involved jumping and twisting a challenge. Defying Gravity, Alaskan Dragonrana – not that the Snow Queen was helpless, but she hated feeling so... slowed down seemed the only proper term. Outside of wrestling, the last time she had been in Nome, her injured ribs had cost her when standing up to Malcolm Scythe.

Selena took a deep breath, biting down on the pain she felt shoot through her (the aches a mixture of sharp and dull). That bastard Malcolm Scythe had put his filthy hands on her daughter, Elsianna and pulled at her red wig, trying to expose her true identity (what he believed her to be). Maybe he had a right to now, being the child's grandfather – in his own twisted mind – but laying a hand on her baby?

Selena had lost it and lashed out, bringing the man down to his knees with one of her wrestling holds, wanting nothing more than to break his arm! Looking back, Selena was reminded of the words she had shared with Kelcey Wallace earlier that week about “righteous anger” and “justified violence”. In a small way, that had been the beginning of it – though Selena was unaware of it at the time. But she had wanted to hurt the mayor of Nome. She had wanted to make him pay for all he had done – and she didn't feel the least bit guilty in feeling that way.

The same word kept popping into her head without reservation. DESERVED. Malcolm DESERVED such a thing befalling him. He DESERVED to be punished. Just like Bree and Blake had DESERVED to be bloodied and beaten down in that roofed-cage.

And, if Selena were honest with herself – she was happy to be facing the former Women's Champion again at Breakdown. She wanted to finish the job she and Kelcey had started. Blake had been beaten down and reduced to an unconscious mess. Bree? She had just been bloodied and had her nose busted – which, for someone as vain as Bree, was damaging in and of itself, but it wasn't enough for Selena. For despite not being the one that did the piledriver, it had been Bree that had fed Sienna to Blake Mason and it had been Bree that had viciously speared Selena in the ribs and attacked that weakness, trying to take the Snow Queen out of the equation. And lastly, it was Bree that had distracted Selena in her World title match – a fact that Bree was all too happy to brag about on Twitter and across SCW.

Quietly, Selena gave a shake of her head, trying to straighten her random and unorganized thoughts. She kept jumping back from standing there in the office of the mayor, to her ribs, to SCW and Bree and Blake to Vixen Cain and the World title and back in the opposite direction. In certain moments, it was a bit overwhelming for the Snow Queen – having so much you wanted to do at once – it made concentration difficult.

“First things first.” she whispered. There was an order to things. She was there, in Nome, in the city hall to face down the grandfather of her children. She had trained and walked in the cold to strengthen herself physically, mentally and emotionally. She was ready for this confrontation. The last time, Travis, one of Malcolm's henchmen, had attacked her ribs – that was a liability and Selena would need to be careful. Need to expect it even if it wasn't going to happen.

Just like she would have to do at Breakdown against Bree. She would guard her ribs and ensure that whatever she and Kelcey had envisioned for Bree was complete. That she shared a punishment befitting her and Blake's actions. Then, when that was accomplished...Selena knew where she would go next.

She had a World Champion to pay a visit too. Even if it wasn't to get the title back, Selena wasn't about to let Vixen Cain disrespect SCW and the gift they had given to the Snow Queen with the snow-white World title. She wasn't about to let that go unnoticed or unpunished.

“Deserved.” Selena whispered in a breath.

That was the order her brain could settle on:

Face Malcolm and anticipate any attack on her ribs.
Be cautious of ribs and implement that into Breakdown strategy.
Defeat and punish Bree Lancaster at Breakdown.
Vixen Cain.

Slowly, the Snow Queen nodded her head, her deep breath causing slight pain, but she ignored it best she could. It was better to feel this organized. This focused. She had no desire to be like her former best-friend, Regan Street, mindlessly screaming and getting nowhere while SCW overlooked her because of her poor attitude.

No, Selena may have embraced a new level of understanding in how she fought and what she did in the ring, but she knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the most dangerous Selena Frost was a focused one. One that knew where to focus and what to do. That Selena Frost was needed now to protect her family.

“Excuse me.” Selena said as she turned her head to see the secretary sitting at her desk. The woman wore a brown sweater, had thick, black glasses (that kind of reminded Selena of Clark Kent from the Superman comics) and her hair was tight in a bun that looked painfully tight. Compared to that, Selena's hair was in her loose, traditional braid, and she wore her blue jeans and a white long shirt with buttons at the very top (only two, which she kept open for her comfort – she certainly didn't have the bust of several other superstars that flaunted such assets). She also wore her black leather coat and a blue scarf of wool completed the wardrobe. She didn't need to remove any layers in the warm building. She wasn't there to talk for long. She was going to say her peace, speak as forward and assertively as Kelcey had encouraged her to do and then leave. Simple!

“Yes?” the secretary asked, gazing up at the taller Selena.
“Yes. Will Malcolm-”
“Mr. Scythe?” came the curt response from the secretary – making Selena wonder if the woman was sleeping with the mayor or just kissing his ass... even if he wasn't even there.

“Right. Will he be available soon? I've been waiting for almost an hour.”
“The mayor is in a VERY important meeting.” the girl responded. “He has been notified of your arrival.”
“Okay, but you said that almost an hour ago and nothing's happened.”
“He won't be much longer.” the girl answered with a dismissive tone, leaving the Snow Queen with a question in her mind.

Does she DESERVE to get kicked in the head?

Selena quietly turned away to return to the window she had been staring out of for so long, chuckling quietly to herself. No, the girl was rude and borderline bitch, but this wasn't wrestling. If anyone deserved to be kicked in the head that was in the building it was Malcolm Scythe. Still, Selena knew she had to be patient. She had put off this meeting for too long because she had been afraid to come right out and say the truth, even though she knew that Malcolm probably already knew.

The mayor was no fool. He had sent his lackey, Travis, to break into the Frost's home, sneak into the bedroom of Elsianna and discover the truth about the child's snow-white hair, which Selena and Deanna had tried to hide – hair that was identical to Selena's. The reality was that Malcolm would not have sent Travis on such an errand unless he already suspected on a high level. The old man was thorough and didn't appreciate taking big risks – unlike Selena...clearly.

Quietly, Selena checked her phone, shooting out a text to her wife to give her an update. “At Malcolm's office. Will let you know how it goes.”. She knew the time zone differences – Deanna was surely still awake.

A chime from her phone confirmed as such a moment later.

Please be careful. Don't get into a fight with him.
I won't. I promise.
How are your ribs?
Sore but okay. I took a walk in the woods for a few hours to get my head on straight.
Wish I was there.
Me too. Maybe I love you.
Maybe I love you.

Selena put her phone away after the exchange, sliding it into her coat pocket. She missed Deanna and wanted to spend her time healing at home. Still, she knew she had to be here. And as the main doors opened, the thought was reaffirmed. Before Selena eyes, several suited business men walked out of the office room (no one that Selena recognized). For all she knew, they could be lawyers, politicians, property owners – it really didn't matter to the Snow Queen. To her, it just meant that the meeting was finally over and she could get this meeting of her own over and done with.

Slowly, her breath hitching a little as she watched, Malcolm Scythe emerged from the office, Selena immediately recognizing his salt-and-pepper hair and aged expression, though his soft complexion did not fool her one bit. Looking around the room, the mayor's eyes finally settled on the Snow Queen.

“Ah! Selena!” he beckoned with a wave of his hand. “Come in, please. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting.” he added politely before turning to his secretary. “Jules, hold my calls. This is family business.”

“Yes, sir!” The girl said brightly, returning to her work with a zeal that screamed fake to Selena. The young Frost could only roll her eyes before following Malcolm into his office, feeling the doors close behind her as she entered.

The office looked the same as before – why wouldn't it? Large wooden table, one of those high-tech computers, a fireplace, soft-looking furniture. It looked like a mix between an office and a suite.

“You have a really enthusiastic secretary.” Selena said off-handedly. “You sleeping with her?”
“Oh, that's neither here nor there.” Malcolm replied. “I get a new one every few years or so. Which reminds me, I might be overdue soon.”

Selena shook her head, avoiding looking at the mayor for a moment, her eyes once more on the first window she saw and the continued snow falling outside.

“So....” came the slow voice of Scythe. “What brings the busy Selena Frost all the way from New York to here?”

Selena could hear the “knowing” tone in his voice. He was playing with her – something she had had enough of people doing in the last week.

“You know why.” she said, earning a nod from the mayor.
“Indeed.” he spoke. “I got your message. Grandchildren?” He replied. “I knew you were adopting but there was something about that that seemed to me that adoption wasn't what you were referring to.”

“You sent your stooge to break into my house and spy on El...on the girl.”
“I did.” Malcolm admitted. “Travis isn't very...let's say graceful. His tact needs a lot of work.”

“You're lucky I didn't shoot him for trespassing on private property.” Selena's eyes narrowed.

Despite his coolness, the politician seemed surprised by the blunt response Selena was giving. “Would you really have?”

Thank you, Kelcey.

“Without hesitation.” Selena replied coldly. “You seem to think there's a moral high-ground I won't cross, but if you push me far enough, Malcolm – if you endanger my family like that again – you'll find out how quickly that line disappears.”

If the mayor was surprised by this truth, he did not show it, though Selena, in that moment, wanted to believe that she had caught the mastermind off guard. He gave a dismissive wave of his hand.

“I'll be sure to let him know that. Good henchmen are very hard to find these days.”
“You wouldn't have sent him unless you suspected.” Selena stated.

Malcolm stopped walking around the room for a moment, turning to face the Snow Queen. “True. I never gamble unless I know I'm going to win. I didn't buy for a second the whole red-hair nonsense.”

Biting her lower lip, Selena nodded her head.

“So why don't we cut the bullshit, Selena.” Malcolm ordered. “And you tell me what I already know.”
“Why? If you already know.” Selena shrugged.
“Well...” Malcolm smiled. “You came all this way. And I want to hear you say it.”

It was a moral defeat that he wanted. A confession coming from a beaten woman – and Selena hated him for it. But she wasn't going to back down from her desire to be here and put Malcolm in his place.

“Fine.” She said. “It's her.”
“The child?” Malcolm asked with a lift of his eyebrows.
“Yes. It's Elsianna.”

Despite having all but been told this till now, Malcolm's face was that of slight surprise and – was that pride?

“I must admit.” he spoke slowly, turning away from Selena to return to the large, black chair by his office table. “To be told it is something more than I anticipated. Having that truth confirmed.” He sat down in the chair, as if in deep thought, before turning his gaze to Selena. “And I must admit I am still surprised by it all – considering she's supposed to be dead.”

Selena said nothing, her eyes just narrowing at the bastard that dared to tear her family apart. She heard Malcolm release a sigh before looking around the room and back to Selena. “How?”

“How what?” Selena asked. “How did she survive?”
“That is an understandable question, isn't it?”

Despite herself, Selena felt herself softening every so slightly at the question – because it was one she had asked herself many time. “To be honest, I don't really know.”

“The drugs?” Malcolm asked, referring to the ones he and his associates Dr. Perry has injected into Selena during her pregnancy to try and force a miscarriage.

“Caused premature labour. I didn't even remember it – I think the drugs did something to my memory.” she touched her temple. “I thought she had died as well. Turns out... she had survived.”
“And the orphanage?” Malcolm asked.

Selena shrugged. “A girl found me in our home with Elsianna and took her away. She eventually made it to the orphanage. About a year ago, I found the girl, who led me eventually to the orphanage, which lead me to Elsianna.”

The suited man shook his head in surprise. “I don't know what I should feel to this.”

“Let me guess. Anger and frustration because she's the REAL heir to the throne of the Frost and the DeCarlos and not David? Which essentially ruins your plans?”

“What?” Malcolm lifted his head, as if Selena's bombshell – one she had dreamed about for months – was nothing more than a fly buzzing around his head. “Oh, that. I suppose. But no, I suppose I mostly feel pride.”

“Pride?” Selena asked in disbelief.
“Oh yes. The resilience of your bloodline mixed with mine – rather my son's. Strong offspring. I should have known better.”
“Yes. You should have. Given you've failed with my father and with me – why should my daughter be any different? We're strong, Malcolm...stronger than you.”

He laughed at that. “Oh don't be so dramatic, Selena. You think you have me?”
The grin on Selena's face came without her meaning to, but she welcomed it nonetheless. “Oh, I know I do! Her mere existence destroys your plan! With her, David means nothing to you. And with the adoption set for Elsianna, that means that the father-”

“Ryan?” Malcolm interjected calmly, causing Selena to stop herself and take a deep breath, even if it hurt.
“Yes – he has no rights to her. Meaning the fortune is beyond your reach.”
“Unless I kill Elsianna – finish the job I started.” He said flatly.

Selena's eyes widened. In truth, she had never thought of that – despite his wickedness, to kill a child – his OWN grandchild – she had never believed him capable of it. Not in a million years!

“You wouldn't...” she said, her voice laced with fear. “She's your grandchild.”
“Yes, and one that I've believed was dead for five years. I would just be keeping myself honest.”
“No...you wouldn't and I wouldn't let you.”
“Oh come on, Selena.” Malcolm mocked with a chuckle. “We both know that if I wanted you and the rest of them dead, you'd have nothing to be able to stop me. I've had you and your family wrapped around my fingers for years – you think this child's survival changes that? It doesn't.”

Whatever they can do. And if you're not willing to fight for those loved ones and SCW like you did in that cage...then you need to stop...

The words from Kelcey Wallace echoed in Selena's mind, and her eyes flew to the window to see the cold snow still falling. She breathed, trying to calm herself.

“I came here to tell you that it's done, Malcolm. You lost. You won't be going near my family anymore. You won't be sending your henchmen. If you do, I promise you that they will not be coming back to you in one piece. You will NEVER get the family fortune now. And I will make sure of that.”

She turned on her foot and headed for the door. She had not even made it a few steps.

“So, that's it?” Malcolm asked. “You think I'll just back off? Is that it?”

Slowly, Selena turned around to stare down her enemy. “I expect you to know when you are beaten and accept defeat, Malcolm. That's what I expect.”
“Yes, well...you were right. I did suspect about the girl's true heritage. But the funny thing is, unlike you, I didn't hide it. I told someone that should know – perhaps as much as you do.”

Reaching out, he pushed a button on his desk. “Jules. Is he here?”
“He just walked in, sir.”
“Send him in.” ordered Scythe.

Instantly, the doors were pulled open, causing Selena to spin around behind her. Standing before her, the tall, thin man had an expression of uncertainty. He wore a suit of black and maroon, the tie a similar maroon color.

“He works upstairs in checking and accounting, so I just buzzed him over.” Malcolm stated calmly.

Selena said nothing, using every bit of control she had not to speak. But he looked the same! Like he had over five years ago! Not one hair was different!

“Selena?” he said in surprise. “Did you bring her here, father?”
“No, son.” Malcolm replied. “It seems that our little breeder came of her own to tell me that my plan for the DeCarlos and Frosts has failed. Turns out my suspicions were right.”

“What?” the man's eyes widened as he looked at Selena – this time fully. “Your suspicions?”
“Tell him, Selena. Tell him exactly what you told me.” Malcolm dared.

With a sigh, Selena knew she wasn't getting out of this one. Truth being, she really didn't want to. She had meant what she said. This was over. And she didn't care who knew now. Not even him.

“Elsianna's alive, Ryan.” Selena stated to the man she had known as Adrian Scythe. “She survived and she's with me.”

Ryan sucked in a breath of air, as if he had just been kicked in the gut. He turned his gaze from Selena and slowly walked further into the office of his father.

“Well...” Malcolm spoke softly. “This is a personal matter. So, I will leave you two to discuss it.” he said with a smile, pushing himself out of his chair and strolling past his son and Selena, stopping only for a moment by Selena. “I hope you realize that this...well this is far from over.” he whispered before disappearing from the room.

Selena didn't follow him. Nor did she watch him leave. She kept her eyes locked on Ryan as he walked around the room, running his hands along his cheeks. Finally, he turned to Selena.

“You're saying our daughter is alive?”
“Yes.” Selena said. “The child you helped create is alive.”
“Why do you say it like that?” he asked.
“Because knocking me up doesn't make her your daughter, Ryan.” Selena snapped coldly.
“Neither does hiding it from me-”

“Oh! Don't you dare push this on me!” Selena spat. “You were in on this! You've been in on this! The sperm donor? David? Everything! Don't tell me that you weren't!”

“This hasn't anything to do with the boy.”
“The hell it doesn't! Everything has to do with my family! Because YOU left me! Remember? You abandoned me when I was pregnant! You cheated on me! And then your father – that bastard-”
“Hey! He's my father!”

“I don't care what he is!” Selena shouted back. Her emotional check was gone and she didn't care. She was glad Deanna wasn't here to hold her back. She was glad no one was here but her and Ryan. This was a long time coming. “He tried to call my daughter and you did nothing!”

“Because I didn't know until it was too late. He told me you miscarried and I believed that for years. It took years for me to find out what he did to you.”
“And you STILL defend him?!” Selena laughed.

Ryan said nothing, merely leaning against the table using his back. “I don't expect you to understand the family I am a part of.”
“I don't give a damn!” Selena replied. “And I don't care what you think about me or my family. Elsianna is my daughter. You have no right to her and you will stay away from her. Do you understand?”

“That's not fair!” Ryan exclaimed. “I have a right to her too!”
“You have NO right!” Selena shot back. “You neglected her and abandoned me – she's part of the foster child system now. Neither of us have any rights but I'm adopting her. She wants to be with me!”

“Well, how is THAT fair? She doesn't know me!”
“And she won't, Ryan. You made your choice! You didn't give a shit about me when you thought she was dead. Now you just want to please your father.”

“No! I want to be a father!” he spat, standing back up to his full height and placing his hands on his hips. “I know I have no legal rights to David and that has killed me every day. That I couldn't be there to see him born. That I can't be there to see him now. He's my son, Selena. Whether you will admit it or not!”

“Only because of this twisted plan of you and your father's-”
“Who cares how? HE...IS...MY...SON!” Ryan stressed. “And when father told me that there was a chance that Elsianna would still be alive? After all this time? You don't think I was angry? I was furious! How could you keep that from me?”

“I didn't even know till about a year ago!” Selena confessed. “I thought she was dead too. And why would I tell you?”
“Because she's mine too.”
“No, she isn't! You don't deserve her.”
“Oh, and you do? Who put her in that orphanage? Who abandoned her?”

Selena bit the inside of her cheek at Ryan's questions. He was hurting but she wasn't as affected as she might have been years ago.

“I did.” she admitted.
Ryan nodded. “You did just as much as I did, Selena. Except you knew what you were doing. I didn't. So don't stand there and judge me for doing what you did! You got your second chance with her. I DESERVE one too!”

“No...” Selena said, but it was far weaker than previous ones.
“I'm not asking you.” Ryan said. “I'm telling you. You think my father is scary? I'll fight you with every lawyer in our pockets. I will come at you with every law and by-law I can dig up. Even if I can't see her, I can at least make it clear you don't deserve to see her either!”

“You can't do that! I'll be her legal guardian soon!” Selena countered. “I'll be her mother again.”
“Not if I can help it.” Ryan warned. “Why should you get a second chance and not me?”
“Because you're sick and evil!” Selena replied angrily. She felt the blood rushing to her face. “You don't deserve-”

“Yes, I do!” Ryan countered. “And I'm going to see her one way or another and I'm going to fight you for this one way or another.”

There was a moment of silence as the two parents tried to calm their breathing. Both of their faces were red and both were breathing rather harshly – the pain in Selena's ribs only adding to her anger.

“She deserves to know who her father is. I want my second chance.” Ryan pressed. “If you won't give it to me, then you shouldn't have one either.”

Selena said nothing, looking away and out the window to the falling snow.

“Selena...I'm not planning anything.” he promised. “I truly am beyond surprised at this news. I can't be there for David – let me be there for Elsianna.”

She was quiet at first. She hated the idea. Hated that Malcolm had planned this confrontation and Selena hadn't seen it coming. He was still outsmarting her and he had just, in seconds, side-stepped the big bomb that Selena had spent months putting together to end all of this. She hated the notion of Ryan being anywhere near her daughter.

But, despite all the warnings her brain was giving her, she knew she had no choice. Ryan was right. She may have given up Elsianna for all the right reasons, but she had relinquished her right as a parent just as he had – moreso because she had done so willingly. And Ryan – what was he doing now?

But being Ryan – so much like he was Adrian. The man fighting before her – despite herself – Selena had to admit was doing so the same way Adrian had fought for her against the bullies in their childhood. He was fighting, not for his father's company or some power – but just to be a father. Like he had spoken so fondly about being when Selena had first told him she was pregnant.

He was fighting for what he felt was right – just like Selena would and had done. For a moment, the Snow Queen was reminded of the man she had loved with all her heart. The first person she had believed in having a future – a happy life – with.

Still, one does not have their heart shattered and brought to the brink of oblivion and simply forget. She took a deep breath, using the pain in her ribs to guide her mind back to the present.

“I'm not going to say yes right now.” Selena said. “Because what you want doesn't erase what you and your father have done to me and my family. What you're still doing.”

Slowly, Ryan nodded. “I get that.” he seemed to think for a moment. “Can you come back here later? I mean, next week or something? Just so we can talk more about this? I...I need time too to process all of this.”

Despite herself, Selena actually considered Ryan's words for a moment. “Deanna and I are coming in next week to finalize Elsianna's move from the orphanage to our home. She's got an exit interview and then packing what's left of her things. Deanna can help with that.”

“And you and I can talk?” Ryan asked.
Selena huffed. “Fine. But let me make one thing clear. I don't care how many lawyers you have. I will decide whether or not you see her. She's MY daughter and she's Deanna's daughter now. You're just the donor. Just like with David. Do you understand me?”

The words clearly stung Ryan – Selena could see the hurt look on his face – and part of her was glad that he was actually hurting for some of the things he had done in the last five years.

“I get it.” he finally said. “But give it some REAL thought, Selena! Don't walk out of the room and just be done with it. Because you know I'm right. About second chances.”

The white-haired Frost said nothing, merely nodding her head and turning to leave the room. She opened the door and, out of instinct, managed to avoid bumping into Malcolm as he swept into the room.

“Goodbye, Selena. Thank you for dropping by.” he said without looking at her.

Selena did not reply. Instead, she kept walking out of the office and out of City Hall. She felt the cold of the outside cling to her and she breathed it in as best she could.

“What the hell am I going to do now?” she asked, feeling tears prick her eyes. She was trapped. She couldn't truly deny Ryan's right to see Elsianna...no matter how much she wanted to. She would be a hypocrite without proper evidence that he was of no good to the child. Denying him a second chance – after she had been given one by fate?

But what if Elsianna loved him more? What if she decided to go with him and leave her and Deanna? What if that was Malcolm's plan all along? A contingency to have his claws on the rightful heir to the fortune?

Looking down, Selena fished out her phone, turning it on and seeing the one text Deanna had sent after their previous conversation. Selena had missed it after putting the phone in her pocket.

Elsianna says she can't wait till your home. She has a plan for getting your shiny back from the goblins!

Selena half-laughed, half-cried at the message. Wonderful Elsianna – looking out for others. Like Deanna and, as Deanna had said, like her. But the shiny, in that moment was the last thing on Selena's mind. Getting back a title seemed so much easier a task – even keeping it from “Goblins” - compared to the task that now lay before.

Keeping her precious snowflake from her own father? Selena didn't know – but she knew herself...knew what it was like to be without one. And in that moment... she was no longer so sure that shiny was the only thing that would be lost to her...

The camera opens up to reveal the inside of the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Several thousands of empty seats can be seen as the camera sweeps along the empty space. The “SCW Breakdown” graphic and signs can be seen, as can the massive SCW ring, even through the darkness/shadows created by the majority of lights being turned off, save for a few white and blue lights that shine down on the wrestling ring. The mist of smoke that rolls around the ring and a little within it. While the temperature outside is in the singles, it looks a littler colder thanks to the lights and smoke.

And perhaps the woman in white with hair that matches the snow-white color of several parts of her wrestling attire. Sitting cross-legged in the ring, her hands resting on her legs near her feet, Selena Frost, with her posture looking quite straight and regal (the definition of posture and grace of a queen), seems focused on her thoughts.

I have... she pauses for a moment, as if unsure of her next words. So much on my mind – so many things that I could talk about. So many things I want to talk about.

Quietly, Selena's hands run against her wrestling boots, from the top of their design to the heel of her feet.

I'm not going to lie, True-Believers, I'm still technically injured. There...there is a reason that those that have faced me recently have continuously targeted my ribs. I tried to hide it by just sucking it up and taking the bullet – fighting through the pain like anyone would do – or should do, I guess. But I realize that I was just hiding it from all of you because I was afraid of looking weak as the SCW World Champion. Then when I lost the title – that thought became even more dominant in my mind.

You see, after losing the World Title to Vixen Cain, I felt like I let all of you down. I felt like I failed you. What's more – I was afraid people would know that my ribs were still not at 100% or fully recovered. I was afraid Kelcey would know and want me off her team – or she would see me as a liability. And I didn't want that. I didn't want to be the burden or someone to let all of you down.

The Snow Queen takes a deep breath, her upper torso moving as she breathes, the eyes of the viewer drawn to her ribs as her torso moves.

Retribution was a real eye-opener for me on several levels – which is why I'm having such difficulty finding a place to start and what to address. There are some that have stated on social media that I should be enraged regarding the actions of the current World Champion, Vixen Cain, and his desecration of the white-leather belt that SCW gave me as a gift. Others have asked me to talk about what happened between Kelcey and I at Retribution and where are things going to go afterwards. Others still think I should only focus on the B and B, revenge and Breakdown here tonight, where I will face Bree Lancaster in a sort of rematch from last week's pay-per-view.

But I wanted to start with apologizing to all of you for trying to hide my condition. Trying to make you believe that I was at 100%. Don't get me wrong, I am ready to fight with everything that I have – and I always will fight as such – but you, the people that have supported me for so long, who are the reason I was even able to become World Champion in the first place – you deserve to know the truth about me. Otherwise, how can I ask you to believe in me even when the update isn't always the best?

Slowly, Selena continues to rub her legs.

That's something that I want to keep in everyone's minds right now. The word 'deserve'. I've heard that SO much these past ten days. From so many different people – it's almost like my brain's been swapping it out for other words just to keep bringing it to my attention. Regardless, the word 'deserve' has been on my mind for days. Because it's something I've had to re-educate myself about in terms of what it really means.

And I guess I'll start with the most obvious case of what is deserved. Kelcey... you deserved better.

Slowly, Selena's eyes drift down the her legs and booted feet.

I've considered these legs and feet my most powerful weapons in the ring. You, probably more than anyone else, can understand why. They've taken down superstars, knocked them out, yes, and lead me to countless amazing victories. And while destructive – I've never, not once, felt like I was not in control of them. I never felt like I had to distrust my own legs. As you would trust your legs to walk, Kelcey, I would trust mine to jump and land and superkick the intended target.

But at Retribution – they didn't. I know we talked about it, but as I said, I'm not going to hide what I feel from the true-believers that have continued to support me. And the truth is, while I've never had a reason to hate my legs...what happened last week...

The Snow Queen once more observes her educated feet and legs – her greatest weapon.

I've been hating myself and the power in these legs that I could not control at Retribution since. I've hated that I could not get you what you deserved in your perfect revenge. That the B and B Experience managed to – as the commentary stated – squeak past us. Because you deserved better and so did the true-believers chanting “We Believe! We Believe!”. And for that, I am sorry. To you and all of them.

Keep her eyes on her legs, Selena's hands rest on her closest foot/shin.

But I still believe that everything – good and bad – happens for a reason. And I believe that SCW believes in what you started in making things right within it. Of bringing an end to the fear tactics of Bree and Blake. Of making SCW stand tall above such people that think they are above it.

Which is why I think they made the main event match at Breakdown what it is now. Because they believe that message – one the true-believers desired to see back at the AT&T Centre last weekend.

And I think they deserve to see it, don't you? Because I promise you they will, Kelcey. Because you were right.

Slowly, the former World Champion rises to her feet.

You see, true-believers, Kelcey made me realize the reason why you were chanting for us, even when I busted open Bree's supposedly “classy” face and nose. When I made her wear the crimson mask. Why you spurred us on as we turned the wrestling match into a beatdown inside the cage – prompting us to keep punishing the B and B Experience.

William Mason said that if the roles were reversed and he had lost the match or been further beaten down, you all would cheer for that and be mocking him. And the truth is, he's right. He's right because that is what everyone would do, including me. And it's not because you're all heartless people or violence enthusiasts like Rachel Foxx. No, it's because you all believed, with all you had, that what was happening in that chamber to the B and B Experience was deserved. That it was a rightful and deserved punishment.

And I...
Selena shrugs as she stands at her full height. I found myself agreeing with all of you.

And don't pretend you didn't deserve it, Bree. You want to toss your hair in front of a camera – insult things like my appearance or whatever all you want – but after what you and Blake did to Chris, Sienna, Kelcey, Simon, me? Yes, you DESERVED what you got in that cage and more. That's what I learned. That the reason I wasn't going to “become evil” like Mason predicted in his stupid “Seven” movie reference (where he pegged me as Brad Pitt – embracing the darkness) was because I won't EVER take delight in blood lust or potentially shortening another superstar's career. I'll never take delight in that.

But neither will I deny what I felt. That seeing you, Bree, and Mason busted open? Soaked in blood? You having to be carried out by William and also helped by the official? You deserved that! For all those people I mentioned. You deserved to get beaten down and punished for what you did to them and SCW. Call it karma, fate, the universe – I don't care. What it was, regardless of term, was deserved!

But the truth is, Lancaster...I don't believe that it was enough.

Selena slowly begins to pace inside the ring, rolling her shoulders a little.

I don't. I don't believe that was nearly enough. Because I will give you credit – you two can brag that you beat Kelcey and I. You can say how you prevailed. You can omit the facts about the match and how it truly ended. Laugh, call it 'classy', you can do all of that, Bree – it just drives the point home how fortunate I am to have this match with you...where I can finish the job Kelcey and I started.

Because while you got that pin – with some assistance from gravity and William Mason falling the right way – while you managed to defeat Kelcey and I? The reality is that the B and B really did stand for 'Beaten and Bloody' last weekend, because that's exactly what happened. You got beaten up and you better believe that you got bloody. Hell, the announce the team was begging Kelcey and I to end the match, didn't they? Granted, she and I should have and that cost us, but Jonathan Knots and Adam Sharper don't say things like that unless something's happening in the ring that they feel is a slaughter.

Slowly, Selena runs her hands along her platinum hair.

But because you managed to spear me in the middle of the ring – not pin me for the three – you think that you're just going to blow right past me? What makes you think that I'm going to let you get right past me, Bree? Hmmm? You think that you're going to end what I've been part of this past year and some? This Believe-Moment that's grown in that time? Why? Because you managed to hit me in the damaged ribs and survive a cage match? Because I've “never beaten Bree”?

Selena shakes her head before turning back to the camera.

You're right, Bree. I've never beaten you. I've never officially defeated you in an SCW ring. But you know what they say, right? “There's a first time for everything”, isn't there?! You want to throw another fact out there, “classy”? You got two wins on me and not once have you been able to put ME away for that three count, either. But oh! Because your “team” won, that makes your victory against me a forgone conclusion, right?

Let me tell you something, Bree, you fought Sienna Swann and you barely managed to survive your feud with her. You tried every tactic against her, tried to humiliate her and drive her out of SCW. How did that turn out in the end? With you being the one punished – unable to EVER challenge for the Women's title as long as she holds it. It got so bad that you had to call your boyfriend to try and solve the problem for you – and guess what? He couldn't do it!

And Sienna will be the first one to admit that when it comes to ability in that ring, she and I are cut from the same cloth. A Platinum one.

But you think I'm going to be easy? You believe that I'm just a 'flavour of the month'? That's what you tweeted, right? You got lucky on two team matches, Bree, and you suddenly believe that you're going to do what Kelcey, Kennedy, and Regan couldn't? Make me irrelevant and show that I'm expendable?

Biting her lower lip, Selena shakes her head as she continues to pace.

Let me tell you about those women, Bree. All three of them, former world champions. All three of them, at one point, thought I was 'expendable'. All three of them thought I was just a 'flavour'. They didn't believe in anything that I was or anything that I am. You know what happened when they stepped into the ring with me one on one? I stepped it up a notch and kept kicking them in the head until they DID believe. I respected those women and I earned the respect of women like that. From a woman that, at one point, thought herself “Flawless”. From a woman that, at one point, thought herself “Perfect”.

But I'm the “expendable” one, Classy? No, Bree, the reason why I busted you up in that chamber and kicked your pathetic ass inside it and bloodied you up is because I knew exactly who I was facing – just like I know who I am facing now.

A desperate woman that couldn't hack it when she got here and decided to steal the gimmick of actually talented wrestlers to try and get ahead. You straight-up stole Kelcey's gimmick, mixing it with Kennedy's. You're currently trying to steal Sienna's gimmick as a model – AND!!! If we shake the talent roster hard enough, I'm sure we'll find someone just as vain and obnoxious as you. I mean, we've got one for a World Champion, don't we? We've got one chasing AJ Helms. We've got a family of them lead by a “Queen of Queens”. We get rid of you, one of them will just come on in and take your place with an attitude just like yours.

The Snow Queen takes a deep breath, clearly still affected by the events of Retribution and the actions of her Breakdown opponent.

You come at me tonight here in Atlanta with that kind of crap, Bree, and you're going to find out just how “expendable” I am. Because, like our boss has said before, anyone can be replaced. No one is bigger than SCW! You, me, the guy at the opener match or those in the final match of the night? Replaceable. But the reason I'm still here, the reason they cheer for me even when I've got to do something like beat you into a bloody mess? The reason they still believe in what I say and what I do?

Is because I refuse to go away, Bree. I refuse to back down and I refuse to surrender to the whims and brags of bullies and imitators like you. I refuse to be silenced by people like Vixen Cain, who think stealing something from me like the leather-strap of a belt or a match in a cage is going to slow me down.

It's just going to make me work harder to make things right!

A moment of silence passes from Selena.

Expendable. Flavour. Irrelevant. Hunny, you can believe that all you want and bring it to Breakdown with that arrogance akin to most of the opponents I faced in the last twelve months. And you may keep YOUR promise of hitting me with another Classifier like you did at Retribution, but I'm going to tell you right here and right now - That it won't be enough! It won't be enough to put me down and keep me down. Do you hear me?

Because if you thought I was tough and vicious at Retribution, just imagine how I am feeling right now. Imagine how I am feeling after seeing you and Blake snake your way into surviving that cage match. Imagine how I'm feeling seeing Vixen Cain with the white-leather belt of mine. Imagine how I am feeling when you use your twitter to disrespect me, Kelcey, and the true-believers.

With a smile, Selena shakes her head quickly.

Come Breakdown, Bree, just like in the past – where I kicked it up a notch – I'm going to listen to Kelcey and kick it up another notch. I'm not just looking to put you down. I'm looking to keep the true meaning of B and B honest and make sure you stay down. And every single person in the SCW Universe – the thousands and thousands of True-Believers in the arena and the millions watching at home – are going to stand on their feet, chant their beliefs over and over again as I, once again, bust open your nose, bloody you, and make you pay for every thing you've done to me, to them and those in SCW.

The only difference is that this time? I'll be finishing the match as the winner while you get carried out of the ring for a second time.

There's a shrug from the Snow Queen as she looks at the camera.

And not one person in SCW's universe will argue that you – Bree Lancaster – the 'Classy' copycat – don't deserve every minute of this beatdown. Believe it!

The camera slowly fades from the Snow Queen, the new edge in her voice and words certainly noticed by the SCW Universe.
