OOC: Events takes place the day after End of the Year Special, so what happens last Breakdown is not yet known. Promo takes place a few days before Breakdown. Some adult content – please read at your own discretion. I of the Storm “The Mark of A New Level” She had not won the Adrenaline Championship. She had not undone the curse of these multi-man matches. In fact, she was certain that her failure to capture another title – after failing at the World Championship at Under Attack and the United States Championship at The Future is Now – would surely be the source of promos and material for some time in the near future. Doubt about whether or not “The Snow Queen” was losing her edge. If Selena Frost was dealing with a rut/dry-spell. If the supposed “Best of the Best” was not simply slowing down. And yet, while those thoughts and worries should have bothered the former World Champion, they did not have any place in her current state-of-mind, as she fixed her braid, ensuring its tightness, before returning to her suitcase, checking her bedroom inside her “Believe It!” tour-bus as it drove and bounced across the roads of Manhattan. Her driver, Eric, had informed her that they had entered her home, city (that is, the current city where she lived – Nome would always be her hometown, big difference). She wanted to make sure that nothing was left on the bus once she departed – even though she would be using her bus again in less than a day. Still, she wasn't going to leave unclean clothes in her bedroom. Carefully, she checked the sliding closet, where her wrestling attire and jacket often hung. She had already packed the first in her suitcase and was wearing her black, leather jacket. True, the temperature was negative ten and the windchill was making it colder, but- Selena huffed with a 'pfft' sound at the notion. “Snowball fighting weather”. She whispered to herself before checking the flatscreen hanging on the corner of her room. The television had three main purposes for the platinum-blonde: - Play Movies/Television when she was snuggling in bed with Deanna (should the redhead accompany her to shows) - Be linked to her phone via Screen Transfer to watch youtube or videos of opponents she had acquired - Connect with Eric's GPS to see how travelling was going. Currently, the screen was on the third function and Selena quickly reached up to turn it off before she returned to her bed, looking around her room. She had been awake for nearly an hour now and had rushed through showering and combing her hair. She was tired, yes, for she had only gotten about five hours of sleep. She had gone straight from Montreal – and the End of the Year Special – jumped on her bus and travelled back to Manhattan. The sun was barely rising out of the sky. Still, she wanted to look as good as she could. It was 2018 – it was the New Year. And, most importantly, it was her baby-girl's birthday. Quickly, Selena pulled her suitcase by the handle, feeling it roll on its bottom wheels behind her. Casting her eyes out the side window, she saw... snow. So much snow! It was beautiful! Winter was hitting Manhattan full force – as it had back at the start of December and she was loving it. And with Christmas over – Selena grateful that one curse hadn't prevailed this year – she was excited for the new year, the new possibilities and being with her two children...and her wife... Deanna... The redhead had amazing the Snow Queen last week, spending time to complete her “Yuletide” traditions and finally telling her about her pregnancy. The two wives had not spoken about it since – Selena's wishes to wait till the new year and not tempt her curse of Christmas – instead spending the time reacquainting themselves as a married couple. A slight blush of crimson graced upon Selena's cheeks – remembering how reacquainted she and her wife had become. The first time had been rushed and full of need, the second – a few hours later – had been clumsy and they both had laughed at the slight awkwardness. But soon after, as the day went by, they had regained their rhythm and understanding of each other's needs. For Selena, it was slightly newer. She had made love to her wife when Deanna was pregnant in the past, but it wasn't the same this time. It was just a little different, and Selena had enjoyed learning as much as she could in the five days between Christmas and New Years. For example, she had not recalled her wife being so insatiable last time around. Not that she was complaining – for she had been repressed for months as well. Was she still worried about the “how” of Deanna's pregnancy? Yes, of course she was – but it was more how she would handle it now. Deanna had already made it beyond clear that Selena was her one and only – that she desired to be with Selena and their children. She was still the little redhead Selena had fallen in love with. So, that left it all on Selena's shoulders. And she had accepted practically every outcome. If Deanna HAD cheated on her, she was prepared to forgive her – the last few months having been punishment enough for both of them. And if it were a donor, then they would have a long conversation about discussing such choices as mothers and wives. Either way, things would only get better now that the new year was here and Selena was confident her family was in a stable place. And then there was the most recent news... the reason why Selena had not be upset – for the most part - with her elimination from the Invitational Battle Royale. Reaching up, Selena checked her coat pocket, feeling the rather thick stack of folded papers in her pocket. “You ready to go?” Eric asked, the driver turning his head to smile at Selena. “You bet!” Selena replied, smiling brightly as she saw the bus pull over to the side of the street they were on. Just ahead of them was a turn in the road that went up the hill and towards Selena's neighbourhood. Too narrow for a bus travel safely. “Alright.” Eric grinned, grabbing the metallic handle to open the bus' side doors. “So, I'll be back here tomorrow evening to take you to Pittsburgh.” he reminded the Snow Queen, earning a nod from her. “Got it.” she replied as well. While they could have gone straight to Montreal to Pittsburgh for the upcoming Breakdown, which would have made sense with SCW teasing the confrontation between Selena's former Platinum friends – Regan and now Sienna – and herself and Alexis Quinne, Selena had made it clear that a detour into Manhattan was vital. “Make sure you get some sleep, Eric.” Selena stated as she hoped off the bus, the sky a mixture of night and morning as the sunrise slowly continued. “Use the bus and whatever you need to.” “Same as always.” Eric grinned before saluting his boss. Checking into a hotel was not really easy on such short-notice, so on such days and plans as this, Eric would probably sleep on the bus. Selena wasn't sure if he used the couch or the bed, but she didn't really care one way or another. The man was constant professional and very kind. He was the reason most people didn't mess with her family when she brought them to SCW shows. Vixen Cain had been one of the few exceptions and the vile cretin had paid dearly for it at Rise to Greatness. She had not been angry at Eric, Vixen was a crafty one for sure. “Say hello to the family for me.” he requested politely. “Here, tomorrow, at 6pm.” “Yep!” Selena smiled as she turned to trek up the hill. She heard the bus doors close and the bus pull away, probably to go to some kind of 24 hour, docking zone or something like that. She would see it in the fees on her month's bill at the end of January. “Not that I even have to worry about that.” Selena smiled brightly as she saw the snowflakes falling around her. She could not stop the spring she felt in her step. She was too happy. True, she was going to be dealing with Regan in a few days (if the teaser trailer at EOY was any indication) and there was no concern for her in that department – merely sadness at how far her former friend had fallen – but Sienna? Yes, that did worry Selena a bit, but part of her had always known this would be the end result. Her 'little-sister' of Platinum had stayed with Regan, forming the stable “The Past, Present, and Future” of SCW. Was it really so hard to believe that, over time, Sienna would see Selena in the same light as Regan did? A harsh shake of her head dispelled such thoughts from Selena's mind. No! She told herself. You're not going to let them ruin your mood! Resolved once more, Selena doubled her pace, practically jogging up the hill. She could hear her suitcase rolling and hopping its wheels as it hit the pavement. The snow formed clumps on her head and shoulders as it fell from the skies. But before too long, passing a few houses along the path, Selena recognized the gate to her house. Quickly, she punched in the access code on the brick pillar to unlock the gate, which she pushed open and closed behind her. Almost there! her mind screamed with joy as she saw her home before her, the lawn covered in snow, just like so much of the roof of the house. It was beautiful. Before she knew it, Selena was standing under the awning on her front porch, her suitcase standing beside her on its wheels, her fingers stumbling through her jean pockets to find her keys. Feeling the sharp metal of her keys, Selena pulled them up and out of her pocket, and watched them fly as they slipped out of her hand, the momentum carrying them through the air and into the blanket of snow on her lawn. “Shit.” Selena hissed in whisper as she hoped off the porch, stepping onto the lawn, her black boots sinking only a few centimetres. She saw the small hole where the keys had sunk into the snow. With a thrust of her arm, Selena plunged her left hand into the snow, her fingers grasping as much of the snow surrounding the hole as possible. She felt the hard, cold metal in her palm and quickly pulled her hand out. “Gotcha!” she proclaimed in victory – that's right, she might not have been the Adrenaline or United States Champion, but no set of keys was going to escape her! A small victory for the Snow Queen, but a victory none the less – so much so that she did not hear the front door of the house opening. “I hope that snowball isn't for me.” came the soft, teasing voice, causing Selena's head to jerk towards the porch. “Because I REALLY thought we were starting to get along.” There was no denying the light and laughter in Deanna Frost's eyes as she stood there, observing her wife in the snow. Her hair was free and fell in red waves down her back. Her smile was so bright and white, Selena was certain it made the snow jealous. Around the younger woman's form, Selena recognized the gift she had gotten Deanna for the holiday, the starry-dark blue nightgown flowing down her torso – her baby bump slightly visible. “Hey...” Selena replied, breathless from her wife's gaze. “Hey, yourself.” Deanna smiled, her hands behind her back. “Please don't throw the snow. It's cold.” “Wha-” Selena checked her hand, seeing the snow encased within her digits. “No! I-” she quickly cast the snow to the ground, but kept the keys in her fingers. “I dropped my keys and had to get them out of the snow.” “Oh!” Deanna smiled as her wife leaped onto the porch, the Snow Queen dusting her snow-covered hand against her jeans. “Hi...” it was Deanna's turn to have her breath taken away as Selena stood before her. Reaching out, she gently dusted the snow off Selena's shoulders but as she reached Selena's platinum hair, she stopped to cup her wife's face. “Hey, yourself.” Selena repeated her wife's previous words, placing her hand at the nape of Deanna's neck to draw her in for a scorching kiss. She felt Deanna gasp a little from the contact, her mouth opening and giving Selena access to slide her tongue into her wife's mouth, further surprising her before she joined Selena in the passion. “Mmmm...” came from both women before Selena broke the kiss. “Phew...” Deanna shook her head, fanning herself with her hand. “Maybe I need to jump in the snow for a second.” “Cute.” Selena smiled, letting Deanna guide her into the house and closing the door behind them. Her eyes caught the sight of the clock, the time telling her that it was 6:23 am. “I'm sorry I'm late.” She apologized, removing her leather jacket, revealing the blue hoodie she wore underneath. “There was some traffic issues coming out of Montreal and then the boarder. Apparently, boarder patrol pulled us over and did a search of the vehicle. Being a bus and all.” “Did you get enough sleep?” Deanna asked, earning a wave of Selena's hand in dismissal. “I fell back asleep after we crossed the boarder.” she replied. “Still, how many hours?” “Deanna...” Selena pouted, moving closer to her wife to wrap her arms around her. “I'm okay. Happy to be home. I've only got one day before I have to head out for Breakdown. I don't want to spend it sleeping away.” There was a groan that came from Deanna at Selena's argument. “Besides!” Added Selena quickly, pulling the stack of papers from her jacket pocket. “I have some amazing news!” Without further explanation, the Snow Queen took Deanna's hand and guided her downstairs, taking a right past the play/toyroom for their children and past a set of sliding doors into the laundry room. Closing the doors behind her, Selena then turned on the light using the switch on the side of the wall. “What is it-” Deanna tried. “Elsianna and David are still asleep, I assume?” Selena asked, earning a nod from her wife. “Then we need to be here, because you're going to make a lot of noise when you see this.” As she spoke, Selena unfolded the sheets of paper before handing them to Deanna. Curious beyond anything else, Deanna took them, turning them so she could read. “The following is a contracted agreement entered into this day as of December 31, 2017, between Supreme Championship Wrestling - herein referred to as 'Author' - and Selena Michelle Frost – herein referred to as 'Talent' – this is your contract?” she asked. Selena nodded. “I signed it last night before I came here – or rather, renewed it.” It was a simple practice. Because of her private life, and the dangers it entailed, Selena was a year-by-year contracted talent with SCW. She preferred it that way, in case she had to leave for personal reasons or felt she couldn't continue as a wrestler one day (a day she prayed would not come any day soon – despite her lack of success recently). Every year, at the End of the Year Special, she would usually sign a new contract – as she had the other three times – after a few weeks of negotiations. But this one... this one was different... “Read page two.” Selena smiled, bouncing from one foot onto another. “O-okay.” Deanna smiled in confusion but obeyed her wife, turning the page to observe the typed words. “What am I looking for?” “The part that talks about pay...or compensation of that doesn't-” “Here it is!” Deanna replied, pointing to the paper in success. “Talent shall be compensated at rate of-” The words stopped as Deanna read the number, her jaw hanging open. Lifting her head, she saw Selena biting her lower lip, barely able to contain her excitement. “One million dollars for the year?” Deanna asked, casting her eyes down. “And 25% of merchandise revenue – usual rate. Selena, this is -” “Keep reading!” Urged the Snow Queen. “More?” Deanna asked in surprise before casting her eyes down. “The aforementioned pay is the standard for Main-Event Superstar/Main Draw.” “THAT!” Declared Selena happily. “It's a main-event superstar's contract, Deanna!” Because of her wealth and savings, the million dollars wasn't exactly what thrilled Selena. Sure, she was grateful for it, but last year, she had been signed as a “High Mid-Card” superstar, even when she had just won the World Championship. Her salary was decent at that level – but then she had main-evented every pay-per-view that year, won the World title a second time, and received more nominees for the End of the Year Special than any other superstar, even the main-event ones like Syren. Add that she was one of the most popular faces in SCW at this time – due to Kelcey stepping down and Selena's feuds with the most hated group: The Past, Present and Future- “You act like you didn't see this coming.” Deanna replied, smiling knowingly at her wife. “You must have.” “I didn't.” Selena shook her head. “I was hoping for a slight pay increase, but not this much and not to a new level. I mean, I barely held the title for two months combined.” Deanna giggled at the excitement in her wife's voice. “You deserve it, Selena. You've worked so hard.” she wrapped her arms around her wife's neck, her hands still holding Selena's copy of the contract. “They obviously feel you're worth it.” “What about you?” “I think you're worth a lot more, but I'm bias.” Deanna teased with a smile, placing a chaste kiss on Selena's lips. Selena knew that Deanna wouldn't have been able to completely understand. But it was the culmination of four years in what had started as a mere pursuit for a better life then being hated in Nome, persecuted for her family, and drinking her problems away. And then, when her money troubles had been over, Selena had still desired to stay and wrestle – simply because, for perhaps the first time in her life – she had found something that she was good at – something she enjoyed with everything she was. What followed was her endless pursuit to be the “Best of the Best” of SCW. And while there were certainly others earning more in their contracts than her (veterans like Syren came to mind), to be recognized as a wrestler on the same level as them – it was one step closer to that goal. “I guess I'm just happy.” Selena spoke quietly. “I guess I feel I can sort of believe it fully now, I guess? I mean – for them to say that I'm worth that much as a wrestler... does it make sense?” Deanna nodded. “Of course it does. But you know that you mean so much to me – and David and Elsianna, and so many others, you don't need SCW to confirm that. And...” Slowly, Selena felt her hands being raised up by Deannas, the redhead placing her wife's hands on her baby bump. “Someone else is going to see you as their whole world.” “Me AND you.” Selena corrected before crushing her lips against Deanna's. Her wife's assessment was uplifting and made the Snow Queen love her wife all the more. As well as need her – it had been a long ride to Montreal and back. “Now?” Deanna asked in surprise, seeing the look in her wife's sapphire eyes. “What if we wake Elsianna?” “Second reason I brought you to the laundry room!” Selena smirked naughtily before lifting her wife from her rear and placing her on the dryer. “Whoa!” Deanna grinned before wrapping her arms around Selena's neck and her legs around her wife's waist as the kisses continued. “Who...am I...to say no?” Deanna asked between kisses, Selena then trailing her lips along Deanna's smooth neck, earning a gasp from the redhead. Deanna was stunned and aroused. She wasn't even wearing makeup and Selena was so hungry for her – she could relate to such feelings for the platinum-blonde. “You realize...” she moaned. “That Elsianna may be up soon.” “Don't worry.” Selena smiled, slipping the nightgown straps off her wife's shoulders to pool around her waist. Her hands then hiked up the bottom of the dress to meet the rest, exposing Deanna's legs and source of arousal. “I'll be quick.” Selena grinned. “Not too quick...” Deanna found herself saying in a near-beg request. “I mean...I'm sure we have at least twenty minutes...” “I was thinking forty.” came the seductive reply from Selena before she set to work.... ************************ Selena collapsed onto the floor beside her wife, making sure not to hurt her as she did. She sucked in several mouthfuls of air as she lay beside Deanna. “Was...was that forty minutes?” Deanna teased as she, too, tried to catch her breath. Yes, she felt like she and Selena were like a pair of horny teenagers, but at the same time, they had months of catching up to do. It balanced out in her mind. “I have no idea.” Selena laughed, her clothes long gone, tossed around the room with Deanna's nightgown. She felt Deanna shuffle over beside her, lying her head on Selena's shoulder, allowing the Snow Queen to hold her wife and cuddle her in the laundry room. “I can't feel my legs.” Deanna laughed quietly – they still had no desire to awaken their children, both women having to muffle the other's mouth throughout their lovemaking. “I'll carry you in a minute.” Selena promised playfully. For a brief period of time, the only sound heard were that of the two women breathing, Deanna wrapped in Selena's arms as they lay there. For a second, Selena gazed around the room before her eyes settled on her new SCW contract placed on the washing machine. Thank goodness. she thought in relief. She had to scan that and file it electronically and in her file cabinet in her office later – don't forget to do that... “We should really wake up Elsa.” Selena whispered. “It is her birthday after all.” “And yet here we are...in our birthday suits.” Deanna giggled. “That's horrible.” Selena chuckled. “That isn't even funny.” “So why are you laughing?” “Because it's so bad! I can't believe you used that joke-” “Believe-” “Don't you dare.” Selena squeezed her wife teasingly. “Bad enough everyone who hates me uses it.” “I'd be flattered.” “I would be if they didn't think they were 'so clever' in doing it.” Selena shook her head. “You going to tell anyone about your increased wages?” “No, why would I?” Selena asked in mild surprise. “The audience will care as little as I do and the part I do care about? It'll just invite trouble. Most of SCW already sees me as a main-event wrestler, so this just... reaffirms that.” Deanna nodded, reaching in to kiss her wife's cheek gently. “Let's get dressed, take a shower, and then wake up our daughter.” Selena nodded. “Good idea.” It took another forty minutes (they had reached that time on the first event) for the Frost women to get cleaned and dressed. Deanna chose a pair of purple track pants and a white and gray, summer dress that fit over her expanding curves, while Selena wore a matching white and gray summer dress, minus the track pants, opting for bare legs. “Good?” she asked her wife. Deanna nodded. “Alright – do we make her breakfast first?” “Why you asking me? David's never cared if we celebrated his birthday.” “He will soon.” Selena replied with a tilt of her head. “Geez, this is a little trickier...” It was a fact. David, being a baby, had no idea what a birthday celebration was. But Elsa – this being her first real birthday that they weren't terrified of losing her to Malcolm Scythe – they wanted to do it right. “Do we have the gifts out for her?” Selena asked. “Last night. Under the tree.” Deanna replied, referring to the Christmas tree that was still up. “Alright. We'll creep by her room and peak in.” Selena stated. “If she's awake, we pretend that we're there to wish her happy birthday.” “And if she's still asleep?” “We go downstairs and work on her breakfast for when she wakes up!” “That's brilliant!” Deanna replied in a matter-of-fact tone. “Thank you.” Selena whispered before the pair slipped out of their room and, as quietly as they could, crept across the narrow hall of the upstairs to their daughter's room. Reaching out with the handle, Selena added an extra “Sssh” for emphasis before turning the knob and peering inside. The sight of their daughter asleep on the bed was enough to make Selena smile and mutely 'awww'. Closing the door just as quietly, Selena held her hands to her cheeks, symbolizing that Elsianna was, indeed, asleep. Nodding, Deanna then turned around and lead the way down the stairs and into the kitchen, where the two Frost women got to work right away. “Pancakes.” Selena stated. “Can we do that?” “Umm...YES!” Deanna suddenly exclaimed. “I had a craving for them a few nights ago. The stuff might still be – the ingredients, I mean – in the cupboard.” Selena stopped suddenly, turning to regard her wife. “You had pancakes at night?” “And tacos in the morning.” Deanna shrugged. “By the way, we might need more groceries today.” “By the stores will be closed.” Selena stated. “Right...okay, I'll go tomorrow-” “We'll go tomorrow.” came the correction. “I don't need to leave till six.” “PM?” Selena nodded as she found the flour and other ingredients. “I'm just glad you put the ingredients back in the right place.” “Why wouldn't I?” Deanna asked. “I don't know. You're tired, it's late, you satisfy a craving, you just want to go to bed-” “We talking about pancakes or having sex with you?” “Oh ha ha!” Selena stuck her tongue out at her mouth. “I'm just saying I appreciate you putting things back and...and taking care of yourself even when you're pregnant. I should be here-” “Don't go there. We both know you only go when you have to.” Selena nodded. That was true. SCW was the only thing that would keep her from her wife for long periods of time. Still, part of Selena wished she could just take the family with her to SCW – but Elsianna and David needed to grow roots to one place. “Speaking of which...I mean, me being pregnant.” she heard Deanna mutter before turning to Selena. “I guess you're wondering how this happened.” Selena stopped as she pulled out the last ingredient, maple syrup, from the counter, her eyes focused entirely on Deanna. “I mean...I'm pretty sure you're curious.” “I...I am...” Selena answered. “And I want to be clear...that no matter what happened, it doesn't change anything between us.” Deanna tilted her head. “Why would it? I think it would make things better.” “Right! Exactly! Good mentality!” Selena tried. “But, I want you to know that nothing you could say or done – to make this happen – will make me love you less.” Again, Deanna's confusion was all she could express. “Okay, I really don't...” Her eyes lit up as realization dawned on her. “Do...do you think I cheated on you?” An awkward moment of silence hung between them. “Wow...” Deanna finally spoke. “I know that shouldn't hurt me – what else were you supposed to think – but it does...” “I'm sorry, De.” Selena tried to explain, moving around the island counter to hold her wife. “It was well within the realm of possibilities – given what I knew.” “But why? Why would you ever think I would cheat on you? You're everything to me!” she said without hesitation or filter, tears reaching up to threaten to fall from her eyes. “You're my...my...” “What?” Selena asked, unsure of Deanna's next word. “My soulmate, okay?” Deanna cried, burying her face in wife's shoulder. “I'm...I'm sorry.” Selena whispered, reaching out to pet the back of her wife's head. “I just... I couldn't remove it as a possibility. I also thought it was another sperm donor. Like with David.” “No...I'm sorry. I suspected you knew, but I was too afraid you wouldn't believe me when I told you how – that you WOULD think that. I should have just told you outright. Trusted you.” “Well...you can trust me now.” Selena promised, stepping back to give her space to cup Deanna's face. “Look at me, De.” Slowly, sniffling a little, Deanna cast her eyes up to meet Selena's – sapphire meeting emerald. Her hormones were all over the place, but she heard her wife very clearly. “I don't care how it happened. It happened and we will soon have a son or daughter. Or both, or whatever-” “My ultrasound is in two weeks!” Deanna suddenly interjected, her sadness replaced with sudden realization. “We can go see what gender the baby is-” “Deanna – we were talking about you and me.” “Oh, right! Sorry...hormones.” “It's okay. But in all of that – you don't have to tell me right now how. Because it won't change anything. It's happened. It's done. And we're together – the whole family.” Slowly, Deanna nodded. “I will tell you later.” she promised. “And just for the record, I didn't cheat on you. I swear.” “I believe you.” Selena smiled, leaning up to kiss her wife's forehead. “And I'm so happy to hear that.” The two then returned to their work of making breakfast. Selena mixed the batter and lifted the objects while Deanna pan-cooked the pancakes...and distracted her wife with the occasional kiss/touch. Before too long, they had a rather tall stack of pancakes on two plates, three smaller plates surrounding the stack for serving. There was maple syrup in a bottle, butter in a glass saucer, and forks and knives at each plate. “Phew...and I thought the sex with you was exhausting.” Selena teased as she winked at her wife. “Oh, you are going to pay for that later.” Deanna waved her spatula at the Snow Queen, adding one more pancake to the stack. “Promises...promises...” Selena teased right back but stopped when she heard the sound of small feet coming from above – on the second floor. “Someone's up.” Deanna smiled, her eyes also cast up towards the sound of feet. The sound became a patter as the feet went down the stairs until the little ball of energy that was Elsianna Frost bounded into the kitchen/family room large space. “Happy Birthday, snowflake.” Selena smiled, standing on the other side of the room. “Mommy!” the child cried out, rushing as fast as her short legs could carry her. Selena barely had enough time to kneel down and open her arms to catch the child, holding her tight and lifting her up as she stood back to her feet. “I thought you were away.” “I got back just for you.” Selena replied, ignoring the knowing smile and chuckle from her wife (who knew otherwise). “It's your birthday today, isn't it?” The child nodded her head happily. “I'm six today!” she exclaimed. “Yes, you are!” Selena smiled, rocking Elsianna playfully. “Now, would you like cereal today...or pancakes?” “PANCAKES!” exclaimed the child but she suddenly grew quiet as she saw Deanna standing there. “We made a lot.” Deanna exclaimed, moving some of the stack of pancakes onto all three plates. To the surprise of both Selena and Deanna, the white-haired child clung to Selena's neck. “Mommy...” “What is it, Elsianna?” Selena asked, suddenly very confused and worried. “Is it the pancakes?” Elsa shook her head vehemently. “Mom wants to replace me...” “What?” Selena asked, casting a confused glance at Deanna. “What do you mean?” “She wants to replace me!” cried the child before she suddenly broke free of her mother's arms, hopping out and landing on her feet to run as fast as she could out of her room and up the stairs. Seconds only passed, but in that silence, it felt like hours. “What the hell?” Selena asked, casting her eyes on Deanna. “I was afraid of this.” Deanna sighed. “I told Elsianna last night.” “Told her what?” Deanna rolled her eyes. “About being pregnant, Selena.” “Deanna! She's six!” Selena admonished. “I didn't-” Deanna took a deep breath to calm herself. “I simply told her that she was going to have a little brother or sister soon. She got upset and ran upstairs. I tried to talk to her but she wouldn't hear me out. She kept saying I was going to replace her.” “Replace her?” “I know. It's ridiculous.” “I...I am not so sure it is.” Selena replied, looking down at her hands. “Remember, De, Elsianna spent most of her life watching other children get adopted. Other people get picked over her. People getting their 'family'.” Deanna's eyes widened. “I...I messed up, didn't I?” she realized. “No.” Selena shook her head. “I'll go talk to her, okay? I'll be right back.” With that, Selena marched up the stairs quietly until she was, once again, outside Elsa's door. “Snowflake?” she spoke, knocking on the door. “I'm coming in, okay?” Her hand grasped the door handle and slowly turned it to open the door. The room light, located on the nightstand, was turned on and on the large bed sat the small child, Elsa grasping her companion, Sir Crackshell, close to her. “Elsianna...” Selena spoke, moving into the room to sit beside her. “What are you doing up here? It's your birthday.” “You're going to replace me.” “What makes you believe that?” Selena asked, shaking her head. “We love you more than anything.” “Mom said there would be another baby here.” Selena nodded. “Yes. But is that a bad thing? You're not being replaced, Elsianna. You're going to be getting a little brother or sister.” The child shook her head. “That's what they said.” “Who? Who said?” “The Walnuts.” “Who?” “People that promised to adopt me.” Now, Selena assumed correctly that “Walnuts” wasn't the real name and just a mistake from a more foreign name – remembered incorrectly by the child. “They said they wanted a daughter – they came for months – and then...they stopped. Mrs. Garber said that they had a new baby and couldn't afford me. That's what will happen.” Selena sighed – mentally smacking herself for not better understanding. It must have happened before she had met Elsianna. A couple comes in – thinking they can't have children – they prepare to adopt one and suddenly the wife gets pregnant. Suddenly, they don't want to adopt and they just bail... who else would Elsa have blamed for that? “Elsianna -” Selena tried, remember how upset Deanna had been earlier in the kitchen. “Look at me please.” Slowly, the child's blue eyes met Selena's sapphire ones. “That is NOT going to happen. I promise. You will be staying right here. Mom and I, we want you, and David, and this baby.” “But you'll love me less.” “Did you love me less when you met mom?” Selena asked. “No.” “Did you love mommy less when you said you loved mom?” “No.” “How is that possible?” Selena asked, smiling knowingly. “Because...” Elsianna tried to explain, but she was, afterall, only six. “I don't know. I just love you both more than anything.” “And we love you – don't you think that will stay the same even with this new baby? Like when we had David join our family?” Slowly, the logic too sound, Elsianna nodded her head. “You promise?” “I promise.” Selena replied, offering her pinkie to the child. “I pinkie-promise!” With a sad giggle, Elsa linked her pinkie around Selena's. “You know...it's going to be important for you, too, Elsianna.” Selena stated. “That baby, like David? They are going to look up to you. They are going to need you to protect them like mom and I protect you. You're going to be the leader of this group. The Snow Princess to your siblings.” “Siblings?” “Brothers or sisters.” “Oh! Really?” “Absolutely. Like how you protect Sir Crackshell.” Selena gestured to the red nutcracker. “And how you helped mommy find the snow trolls in the front yard. Mom and I will need you to help us protect them.” “And they'll love me too?” “They will adore you, Elsianna. You'll be their big sister!” “How big?” Elsianna asked, jumping up to stand on the bed. “Bigger than I am now?” “Oh, sweetie...” Selena laughed before suddenly picking up the child and lifting her up. “You are going to be their BIG sister! THIS tall!” she lifted Elsa into the air, to where she was almost touching the ceiling. “So tall!” Screamed Elsianna in delight! “Big sister! Mighty sister!” she declared before her stomach growling could be heard in the room. “Hungry sister?” Selena asked, lowering her back down. “Pancakes now?” Elsianna nodded her head. “But before you do, I want you to go down and apologize to your mom for upsetting her. And give her a big hug. She needs you right now too. She's super important for the baby.” “She is?” Elsianna asked. “Why?” “She...just is. Trust me. Like one of the magic people in your stories. But if she thinks you hate her-” “She thinks that?! NOOOOOO!!!!” The child cried before running down the stairs as fast as she could. Selena watched her run before she, herself, walked down the steps and around the space until she was back in the kitchen/family room, just in time to see Elsianna clinging to Deanna's legs tightly. “I'm so sorry, mom! I don't hate you! Don't lose your magic! My sister or brother need it!” “Oh...” Deanna asked in confusion, but played along. “Alright. As long as you're not mad at me.” “No no no no!” Elsianna promised. “Okay.” Deanna smiled, embracing the child. “Would you like your pancakes?” “Yes, please!” Elisanna replied happily before being helped onto the chair and digging into her breakfast. Deanna, meanwhile, eyed her wife, who was standing in the door frame, before walking over to her. “What did you do?” Selena smiled knowingly. “I may suck right now at winning titles in SCW, but I am 2 for 2 in making crying women in this house happy!” “What did you say?” Deanna laughed before kissing her wife's cheek. “Well...actually...something I might need later on.” “What's that?” “I played the sister card.” Selena smiled, even though her mind was already racing on another sister that she needed to talk to... ___________________________________ The Royal Letter Sienna, This is a letter just for you. Not for Regan, or Laura, or the twins – just you. If you choose to show it to them after reading it, I can't stop you on that and it, really, won't matter to me. What matters is that you read it because I wanted to talk to you about things before we have to...well we have to fight each other in the ring. And I'm not scared of that, first off. I always knew we'd wrestle in the ring at some point. I was looking forward to it. It's what we always talked about doing. Going out there, us Platinum girls, and showing who was the best of the best. And when I became World Champion, I knew that I'd face you down the road with implications of that title or something like that – and if things weren't as they were now, I'd be excited about such a prospect. I've always wanted to fight you and just put on a great match! The kind that people with our kind of experience and training and patience – the “platinum kind”, I guess – could deliver. But things aren't quite so perfect as that. I know, I used that word. Perfect. It's what you consider yourself as now, right? “The NEW Perfect Ten”, am I right? The notion that you stole that nickname – or had it handed to you – by Kelcey Wallace? I really don't get the point of that, Sienna. Perfection was Kelcey's ideal. Her driving force. It was what she truly believed in – but you wear it like a badge or a trophy of some kind. Do you even believe in it as she did? I refuse to use it, Sienna, and I beat her three times. I won't take that from Kelcey because she will always be the definition of Perfection and her belief in it was her own – not mine. She DESERVES that name after all she has done and given SCW. So, why? What was wrong with being the Angel of SCW, Sienna? What was wrong with being original like that? Why do you have to try and be Kelcey? More than that – why are you trying so hard to be Regan now? I don't understand that. I'm not mad that you chose to side with her in this fight between her and I. I can understand that, on some level. I came in last when Platinum began. It was you and her and I got brought in because of a growing friendship I had with Regan. But you two knew each other longer. So I get you staying with her – I would never ask you to choose between her and I. But why have you continued to talk down to me week in and week out? Why, after all we've been through, are you spouting the same insults and BS that Regan has been spewing? That isn't you talking, Sienna. That's Regan talking. Ever since the last Pay-Per-View, you were talking like her. Then the Breakdown after, promoting her beating me. Why are you saying such crap when – you must know – it's untrue? I get Regan needing to fabricate things – that's what she does. She twists history so she looks better. But you? I'm asking because how you've been talking and how you've been in the ring - it doesn't match. I'm not talking about the girl that had four people take on one like you did against Quinne. I'm talking about the woman that beat Kelcey Wallace cleanly, proving her talent. I'm talking about the woman that became Women's Champion and Television Champion. I'm talking about the woman that wanted to be the best and wanted challenges and opponents that brought out her best. That woman wouldn't believe a single word you've said in the last few weeks. Are you the future of this company? I sure as hell believe so. You think I'm against that notion, but I'm not. I believe you are a future world champion. How many times have I said it? How many times have I tweeted it? When you fought Kelcey for the World title in your hometown last year, I was so hopeful that you would win the World title. Kelcey is, and always will be, my best friend, but you... You were my sister. You want to know if you hurt me or got to me, Sienna? Yes, you did. Not Regan. You. Hearing you call me a leech – someone you were 'glad to finally be rid of'. How, Sienna? How was I a leech to you? How did I steal from you? How did I get in your way? I didn't ask you to get involved in this war with Regan. Hell, I didn't even start this war. I was fighting for the World title and Regan decided that that didn't sit well with her, so she had Blake Mason pull a stunt with my hair. Then, when she got her match, it wasn't enough to beat me. No, she wanted to humiliate me. Parade my hair around when you know how important it is to me. How would you feel if Regan – or me – took a knife and scarred up your face, Sienna? Made you unrecognizable. Took away your modelling, perhaps something as important to you as wrestling – took away your “angelic face” and thus your 'angel' identity? Would that not make Regan or I the most wretched people in the world? How could anyone do such a thing to anyone, Sienna? Yet, you condone her actions in taking something important from me, Sienna. You stand by her side and you laugh at me – you use my catchphrase against me – and for what? What did I do to YOU? Not Regan, Sienna – she will give you lie after lie when the truth is she simply can't handle that I beat her twice. What did I do to you, Sienna, that makes you think what Regan did to me was okay? That what she's done to others is okay? You asked me over the Christmas holiday to consider my actions when I saved Alexis Quinne. When I almost nailed you with Defying Gravity. You asked me to consider who my “real friends” are and what my “true motivation” was. A few people have asked me to do that, including Dawn Lohan. And I did that, Sienna. I looked inside myself and asked myself those questions. And in terms of my motivation, whether or not I did what I did to help Quinne or simply to get to Regan... and my answer is: It's a little bit of both. I hated the notion that you and your group were attacking Quinne. I don't care if she did it with her PUNK HAZARD group last year – she didn't deserve that. No one does. I don't condone her attacking an official either, but that is for D. to work out. She just came back from injury and you were ready to put her on the shelf permanently because Regan wanted it so – So, yes, I stepped in. It was the right thing to do for me to step in and stop such cruelty. But, to be honest, I also wanted to stop Regan. Because, really? I'm sick of it, Sienna. I'm sick of how I can beat her twice and she cries and cries and calls it “luck” or that I won “by the skin of my teeth” and then, she orchestrates a 2-on-1 assault just so she can beat me in the ring and suddenly: “I beat Selena's ass! I put her in her place! I exposed her!”. It's the most damned set of lies I've ever heard! And I'm sick of hearing her say it, especially when she follows that with a refusal to face me again. I faced her twice and beat her on my own both times. She beat me once, with help, and then proceeds to gloat and pomp and hide. Those are the actions of a coward, Sienna, just like her ambushes are the actions of a coward. Someone that rather have others do her dirty work or even eliminate a threat. And the woman that beat Kelcey on her own would sure as hell know that. That same woman would also know that I'm not going to simply disappear from the lies Regan has had you speak with her. I'm not going to let them be and do nothing, because then I'm just implying that she's right - when she couldn't be more wrong. So there's where my reflection lead me, Sienna. I didn't want Regan to get away with what she did to me again AND I wanted to remind her just how “successful” she was at “putting me in my place” because I'm still here – more than a ever a thorn in the side of Past, Present and Future. I wanted to do BOTH goals – stop her ambush and get my hands on her. If that makes me a villain or however you and Regan choose to spin it, so be it. By the time we get started on Breakdown, I'll have more than enough to worry about then what you and Regan think of me. And as for 'who my friends truly are'? That's why I am writing this letter, Sienna. I'm not interested in saving Regan anymore. After what she's done, she deserves a beating unlike anything she's ever experienced. After what she's orchestrated and taken from me, cheated me from, she deserves to be exposed as the charlatan that she is! Talented and tough, sure, but not this “unbeatable”, “top champ” that she brags about every show! But you? I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to beat you down or embarrass you or anything like that, Sienna. We fight, we wrestle, and may what happen in the ring stay in the ring in regards to you and me. You want to wrestle me like you did Kelcey Wallace? Please do! I want you to! Bring it on! Nothing would make me happier than to see how I stack-up against SCW's Angel. But you need to ask yourself who YOUR true friends are, Sienna. You can hate me for what I say! Tear it to pieces later on with your promo perceptions. But I love you enough to tell you that what you are doing? Whom you're emulating? It's going to make you miserable. It's going to leave you with nothing to be proud of. Because you won't have earned it on your own. You won't have accomplished it by yourself. And when it's all over – you'll have no one to left to lie to you and tell you otherwise. That is where following Regan's path and beliefs of self-entitlement and megalomania will leave her. Not one person believing she is what she says she is – because reality is far more different. Just look at every self-entitled and biitter superstar like her in SCW - from Katie Steward onward. Remember when you first won the Women's championship, Sienna? Retribution 2016, the same night I won the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament. We were the Women's and Adrenaline Champion. How happy were we, Sienna? Because we fought the odds – you against Dawn – and me against Christy and Evans – yet we did it. No interference. No one running in – our own skills. Isn't that what we have always believed in with SCW? Isn't that what SCW stands for? Isn't that what you want to be remembered by? I'm imploring you to remember that – how it felt, Sienna – and I love you enough to tell you, Sienna, that you can fight me – beat me if you can – but if you do it like Regan does things – if you try and become “The Next Hellcat” like you're trying to be “The Next Perfect Ten”... you won't be anything. Because Kelcey learned, the hard way, that anyone can ambush someone and win – that doesn't prove you're the best or that you're worthy to hold the World Championship. You have to fight your fears and the fear of losing – risk losing - and find a way to overcome those odds are your own skills. And you are so much more than what Regan will tell you. You don't need help, or the twins or Hudson or anyone, to succeed. You know it and I know it – so choose it, Sienna. Choose that for your standard. Choose that for how you will succeed and how you will become the World Champion. Choose it for Breakdown and win a tag match against me and Alexis if you can. Because then, not only will everyone be proud of you, but you'll be proud of yourself! Up to you, Sienna. It's your career. But me? I know who I am and I know what I stand for. No insult or jab or pun or whatever Regan, or even you, throw at me will change that for me. I was hurt by you and pissed off by Regan. But I'm not broken. I'm not lost. And I'm not going to give up. Not on SCW, not on what it stands for, not on what I believe in and not on myself. Because, while I agree that you are the future of SCW as its World Champion, I do not believe Regan is the present. SCW deserves so much better than that. And I plan on giving it to them. The question is...what future are you going to give it, sister? Something to think about... Sincerely yours, Selena |
