I wonder if Jake was backstage at the Raw and SD tapings, LOL. That might explain some of the horrible booking as ofl ate. Seriously though, this sucks to see someone who I thougth was great in the 80's before his injury, end up like this. One of the best at in ring psychology of all times imo. |

Man is The Snake ever going to learn, I mean he should realize it's time to get help. I loved him in his hey day especially when he put the cobra on the Macho Mans arm classic. |

To this day one of the things that will always stand out when I think of him is wrestling for about 50 people in the middle of the Omaha County Fair (or wherever that was), then seeing him meet his daughter for the first time, then shortly thereafter getting caught on tape smoking crack on Beyond the Mat. How sad.

Yeah I remember that on the video, I was in total shock. I mean I grew up with him as one of my favorites, I even remember the days of him with the road warrirors and paul ellering. It's such a shame to see someone who should've been at the top of his game, fall to the bottem of grace. I wish this guy would get some help and clean his life up. |

Yeah I watch it now and again still. I agree that it's pretty sad to see what's happened to him, let alone the footage of the county fair when he was using a horse troff for the bathroom. |

Barry Bernstein the guy who directed 'Beyond the Mat' apparentley lied to Jake about how he would be shown on film and edited the footage with him and his daughter to make it look like Jake was a terrible father. Jake and his Daughter are apparentley now speaking again and see each other on occasions. It really saddens me about Jake as he could still offer a lot to Wrestling, we are talking about one opf the greatest promo men ever here, a guy who did all his promo's mostly on spec, using classic quotes from his favourite bands and literature and he would have the fans right where he wanted them. Look at the Rock, his promo's are scripted by writers and he was given pointers on how to deliver, Jake didn't need that because he was so damn good. I know Mystique joked about Jake booking, but early in his career Jake booked for JCP, CWF, WWF and GCW. Florida (CWF) and Georgia (GCW) especially benefited from Jake's quality booking and great ideas, the areas experienced a boost in receipts at the shows and an increase in ratings. Now I know this was back in the 80's but if you've got it, you don't lose it, if Jake could get his shit together I think he could have as much influence on Wrestling today as Heyman had when he accosted the world with ECW. Yes Jake was one of my favourite wrestlers and I put him on a level with Ted DiBiase, Michael Hayes, Ric Flair, Austin Idol, Eddie Gilbert and Jerry Lawler as one of the greatest interviews of all time and definatley one of the best minds in wrestling ever. Come on Jake get ya shit together  |

Yeah that promo by Jake was awesome and it provoked Savage into giving the best promo of his career (well that one or the one when he dissed Flair about the picture od Elizabeth. Even if they didn't use Jake as a booker, he could show the guys how to cut a great promo and how to pace a match. Jakes Promo's when he was in Mid South are some of the greatest I've ever heard, up there with some of the best Freebird promo's and Lawler's. |
