Credit: rohwrestling.com Third Anniversary Results From 2/19 In Elizabeth, NJ!!! 2/22/05 ROH Ring Of Honor presented a huge day of wrestling on 2/19/05 at the RexPlex in Elizabeth, NJ to kick off its Third Anniversary Celebration Week. The day had over 1500 fans witness two cards with just the top talent. Here are the results. "Do Or Die IV" during the afternoon had the following results: Lacey defeated Allison Danger; Christopher Street Connection defeated The Heartbreak Express; Vordell Walker defeated Cheech; Shane Hagadorn & Matt Turner defeated Jerk Jackson & Scott Cardinal; Alex Law & Ricky Landell with their trainer Steve Corino defeated Davey Andrews & Anthony Franco with their trainer CM Punk; "Fast" Eddie Vegas with Dave Prazak of DP Associates won a Four Corner Survival over Arik Cannon, El Generico and Josh Daniels; B-Boy beat Kevin Steen; Homicide defeated Antonio Banks to retain the Full Impact Pro Heavyweight Title. After the bout, CM Punk jumped Homicide and stole the FIP belt. Punk and Homicide have been in a bitter feud in FIP in Florida. "Third Anniversary Celebration Week: I" that night started with the entire locker room emptying to thank the fans for supporting ROH over the past year. It was ROH's way of letting the fans know that we realize that we wouldn't be here without them. Steve Corino then broke the format of the show and demanded that Roderick Strong fight him now instead of later in the night. Strong rushed the ring and the two had an intense fight that ended with Corino defeating Strong. This match got the birthday party off to a hot start. Jay Lethal defeated Jimmy Rave of The Embassy with Prince Nana to earn a Pure Title shot vs. The Embassy's John Walters later in the night. However, Walters, wearing new African influenced clothing, said the title match would happen now. Walters went on to defeat Lethal to retain the Pure Title. Lethal had the odds against him as he had his ribs injured by Rave, which Walters focused on in the Pure Title match. Ebessan defeated Billy Ken Kid in a match from Japan's Osaka Pro promotion that had the fans very entertained. Alex Shelley defeated Jimmy Jacobs in a hardfought back and forth match. After the contest, Shelley asked Jacobs to forgive him for his past attacks and offered his hand. Jacobs showed he didn't accept the apology by hitting Shelley with the Contra Code. Spanky defeated CM Punk in another great match. After the bout, Prince Nana & The Outcast Killaz offered Spanky a spot in The Embassy. Spanky turned them down and said he was only interested in getting in the title picture. Meanwhile, Punk was laughing at The Embassy. Spanky left and Nana started berating Punk calling him a "common man." Punk attempted to leave, but Nana slapped him. Punk was about to kill Nana when the Killaz jumped him, but Punk cleared house of the Killaz. Punk then grabbed one of Nana's air fraquence spray bottles and doused Nana in the perfume, embarrassing the Ghana, West African royalty. It was the night Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer had been waiting for as they defeated Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero to become the new ROH Tag Team Champions. However, the night took a turn for the worse for Maff & Whitmer when Allison Danger came to the ring after the bout and ruined the victory celebration by saying that she signed this to be a non-title match. Maff & Whitmer then cornered Danger and finally got revenge on her by having her rip up their contracts. Maff & Whitmer then beat up Danger. They were declared new champions since the contract was ripped up and celebrated with the belts. Maff & Whitmer are now free from Allison Danger and looking to become the longest reigning ROH Tag Team Champions ever. Mick Foley came out to present his surprise. Foley cut another classic promo explaining that the surprise was going to be him, but after fighting Samoa Joe on 1/15 he woke up really sore the next day and realized he wasn't in shape for the fight. Foley then said he would give someone an opportunity to impress him and get his recommendation to go to WWE. Vordell Walker came out to face Joe. The former ROH World Champion defeated Walker quickly, despite a good showing from Walker. Foley said he then had a man that he was passing the hardcore legend torch to. Ebessan Jack came out and put on one of the most entertaining matches in ROH history vs. Joe. However, Joe defeated Ebessan. Foley then jumped Joe and the two brawled. Joe gained the advantage with the oley oley kick on Foley. Just when Joe really had Foley in trouble, ROH World Champion Austin Aries attacked Joe with a chair and injured him. Foley then said he would call the WWE writers about Aries and walked out with the ROH World Champion. It is obvious that Aries is the one that handed Foley the chair on 1/15 and that Aries was looking to take Joe out before their 2/26 World Title match. Homicide defeated Bryan Danielson in a wild Taped Fist match to go up 2-0 in their best of five series. This one can only be described as a fight as they brawled all over the building. Homicide won when Julius Smokes slipped him some brass knuckles. This feud just keeps getting more and more intense. ROH World Champion Austin Aries defeated Colt Cabana in a classic World Title Steel Cage match. This must see match saw Colt Cabana almost win the World Title on a few occasions. The ending saw Cabana about to drop to the floor from the top of the cage, but Aries dove out through the door in a suicidal attempt to save the title. Dunn & Marcos won an insane Scramble Cage that included The Carnage Crew of Loc & Devito, Lacey's team of Izzy & Deranged, Azrieal & Dixie as well as Roderick Strong & Jack Evans. This match featured several daredevil moves from the top of the cage. The end came when Marcos hit a senton off Dunn's shoulders who was standing on one of the platforms through a table that Loc was laying on. As a result, Loc was pinned and Carnage Crew are now out of ROH for 90 days. Dunn & Marcos received 10 times their normal pay for winning the match. ROH would like to thank everyone for attending this huge day of wrestling. The Third Anniversary Celebration Week continues on 2/25 in Dayton and 2/26 in Chicago. |
