Depends on the era... IN the great year sof the NWA....there was no tougher legion than the 4-horsemen....The lineup of Flair, Windham, Arn and Tully will forever be the best incarnation of that group (the only thing close is the original group of Flair, Tully, Arn and Ole) Just after that, you could argue that the NWO was the greatest for both sheer numbers and sheer amount of historical talent involved (see list in above post) The group from NJPW that gave first NWO incarnation in Japan was the best Japanese stable ever....led by the evil Sonny Ono....who is underrated in American wrestling by far. The Hart Foundation of the late 90s was especially stout with talent... Bret, Owen, Bulldog, Anvil and Pillman...every style covered in spades....and all of them (except maybe Bulldog) was aces on the mic. The only stable in the past 5-8 years that has been anywhere near this list is Evolution...with HHH, Flair, Orton and Batista....but that just isn't close when you compare them historically. If you go WAY back....you could say the Von Erich boys were a stable unto themselves in the old World Class territory....and possibly add some discussion ont he 3-man tandem of the Fabulous Freebirds....but I think that is stretching the topic a tad. |

There is also, now that I think of them, something to be said for a pair of lesser-mentioned stables... The LwO.....Latin World Order....Eddy, Rey Rey and etc....many claim they played off of the NWO, but I think it was just their own was of setting themselves apart and claiming how much they had been held back. The Radicalz ---- Benoit, Eddy, Jericho, Malenko.....they are mentioned together not because they especially acted as an on-air stable the same as others...but because they stuck together and walked out of WCW at the same time...causing a massive change in match quality between the brands at the time. Jericho's debut segment against the Rock may have been a massive momentum swing in and of itself.... |

As an old WWF boy, I gotta give it either to Hart's First Family or Heenan's stable... Who's name I can't even remember right now. |

I believe they went by "The Heenan Family" at least I remember a few mentions of that name....never can remember if it stuck because I only got to watch early PPV's via videotape much later than they occurred |
