Koeh took the proffered hand gently in his fingers, his courtesy overwhelming his usual distaste at physical contact with humans, even one as pleasant as Elise. 'Delighted I'm sure Miss, Koeh'Naesha of Lorelorn, but please, call me Koeh.' He bowed, but refrained from kissing her hand, and smiled again as he raised his eyes. The thump to the side of the carriage caused her guards to look up and he sketched another nod, 'Gentlemen, a pleasure also.' he said, before sitting back in his seat. |

Gunnar held Alexa's gaze for a moment longer before snorting and turning his back on the bounty hunter, apparently intent on making whatever final preparations were necessary to get his coach on the road. The two boys that had paused in their loading duties to watch the confrontation quickly replaced Alexa as a target for the coachman's ire, his bellowed instructions an dcurses at their "laziness" spurring them back to the job of securing the final baggage items in place. The look of relief that crossed the clerk's face as any threat of further unpleasantness disippated was almost comical. "Excellent, excellent. Ah... a refund?" The look on Alexa's face was sufficient to forestall any attempts on the clerk's part to avoid reimbursing her ticket. "Ofcourse... a refund... I'll see to it immediately." Pausing only to nod an acknowledgement to Axel and a farewell to Alexa, the clerk scurried off across the yard, his assistant at his heels as always. ************************************** "Koeh..." Elise murmured the name, her smile unfaltering, as if tasting a foreign delicacy and finding it to her liking. As Malvor settled into his seat next to the elf, Elise looked up, ready to extend a second polite greeting, but as her eyes took in the initiates face, they narrowed slightly before widening almost immediately in almost-recognition. "I know you... don't tell me... you're from Bogenhafen, aren't you? Yes, one of the initiates at the Temple of Sigmar! I've seen you helping Father barthol! Elise Magirius - I'm so sorry but I don't recall your name..." Malvor recognised the young woman immediately, having seen her and her family at services in the temple. Bogenhafen was a merchantile town, the fifteen seats of its council held in the majority by the town's merchantile families. Six of the council positions were taken by the heads of various craft guilds, one by Father Barthol as the senior representative of the Temple of Sigmar. Three seats were held by the heads of the Haagen, Steinhager and Ruggbroder familes: the most powerful of the town's merchant dynasties. The remaining five seats belonged to the Merchants Guild, of which one was taken by the Guild Master, and a second was reserved for the head of the most powerful of the minor merchant families - the Magirius family. Elise, daughter of the families' patriarch Johann, acted as an intermediary between her family and their clients, negotiating and securing contracts in the area around Bogenhafen. A respectable and pious family, the Magirius' always attended the temple's on feast days and, while not of the same league as the town's major merchantile families, always gave something when alms were collected for the town's poor. ************************ ((As the question of coach fares has arisen - consider the following: the corebook suggests 7gc per 10 miles by coach. Bogenhafen is approximately 80 miles from Altdorf - roughly 2.5 days travel. Your fares as coach passengers should therefore be approximately 56gc's each. However I dont want to eat into what little cash you have just yet, so Koeh, Alexa and Malvor have already paid for their tickets at the start of the game. Alexa is due a refund of 112gcs (for her and her bounty), but as its not fair to just grant someone a windfall while everyone else goes without, this will come in the form of a credit note to be used against a future Carrack Lines journey. Ye olde style store credit, if you will... For the purposes of Axel charging Alexa, consider that travel on a cart/wagon would normally probably cost 15p/10 miles (per person). For the 80 miles to Bogenhafen, you're looking at half a crown (10 shillings) per person. Feel free to haggle. 1 gold crown (gc) = 20 silver shillings (s)= 240 brass pennies (p) Once your price is agreed, don't forget to amend your character sheets to show your current cash.)) Alex shook the hand of the halfling, "Greetings Axel, my name is Alexa Jaeger, i expect your cart will be more accomodating than the coach" she said with a smile. "As you can see i have business to deal with in Bogenhafen" indicating Dieter with a kick who was moaning by her feet. "I hope 8 shillings will cover the cost of transport, I can secure him where ever you have space." ((I understand the refund i wasn't expecting the coach fees to cost so much ))

"Ah, milady, my name is Malvor Riddleham. It has been a while since I last saw you, albeit fleetingly." He smiled warmly "Forgive the intrusion, but may I enquire as to the health of your Father?" |

Elise returned Malvor's smile graciously. "Malvor, ofcourse. My father is well, thank you, he always claims the coming of spring agrees with him, though I daresay it's more the relief at the re-opening of the passes to Brettonia that lift him so. I presume you are returning to Bogenhafen?" |

"Returning home also, happily bearing news that should please father." Elise's smile turned to a beam of pride, her hand patting a leather document wallet that lay wedged between herself and Karl. "And yourself Master Koeh? Will you be accompanying us as far as Bogenhafen?" Edited by Anodyr, Apr 22 2010, 10:00 PM.

"A pleasure to meet you then Missy Jaeger,” Axel said as she took his hand. “It’ll have to be a crown at least though, plus reparation once we get there if that fellow on the ground there causes me any kind of troubles. Just starting my business you see, I can’t be giving away me services. You’ll need to pack your own meals as I weren’t expecting company on the trip.” |

As if in immediate answer to Koeh's wish, the coach gave a sudden lurch, accompanied by the shouts of the ostlers and porters as Gunnar urged the two horses forward. The crunch of gravel and squelch of compressed mud sounded from beneath the wheels as they finally began their journey towards Bogenhafen. As the coach groaned into motion, the clerk's assistant appeared at Alexa's hip, a rolled sheath of parchment held mutely towards the bountyhunter. As Alexa took the proffered parchment the boy turned smartly away and disappeared amidts the throng of porters and passengers, no doubt eager to begin his next errand. Unable to read the scrawled ink that adorned the parchment, Alexa turned it to Axel, a quizzical look creasing her brow. The halfling was quickly able to confirm the parchments contents - a credit note signed by the Carrack Lines Altdorf-office bursar, good for a future journey to the value of 112 crowns. Not exactly a refund, but with the main coach already underway and Axel eager to stay as close as possible, there was little time to challenge the clerk. With Dieter securely manacled to a spar in the rear of Axel's cart, Alexa took her position on the front of the cart next to the halfling. Axel gently shook the reins, clucking Rosie into motion and following the coch out onto the road, leaving the hustle of the coaching inns yard, and the Empire's capital city, behind. |
