That Smiley is epic! :D
And I just thought I'd say I agree just elves and humans is fairly uninventive. I was going to mention it but then I thought Darkom had probably just selected these two races for a reason. Err... anyway we could just pretend the other races live across the ocean on another continant, or on the other side of the mountain range.
I wondered why there were no dwarves. Dwarves are fairly common too. I like the halflings thought because they're actually really small :D I do wish we had some kind of khajiit race though. I liked their culture.

Sorry Elite, I wanted to keep this rather small for now. If a spot opens up, or interaction isn't too bad once we get going, you can join us down the line. You'll be the first to know. ;)

Terribly sorry about the races, I was trying to keep things generic. I told you that you could make new races if you so chose, but you'd have to explain why they're there. I'm a big fan of multiple different races myself- my own world has a good dozen- but along with the rest of the setting, I didn't want to get too crazy. Otherwise that would mean everyone would have to learn all the ins and outs of the different races.

As we go on, however, past the jungles, who knows what we'll find? Like Half Tooth said, outside of the known world, there could be gnomes, dwarves, Khajiit, or even multi-dimensional energy beings. Whatever you guys want to have, that would be the place to make it happen. ;)

There are, by the way, a race inhabiting the northern desert that would have been pretty interesting, but we won't be heading that way. So unless someone makes a character from there for some reason, we won't be talking about them much.

And good point, Ambrose, given the backstory of Atlas, anybody from a nearby country would probably hate him. Those from further countries may just strongly dislike him. :P But that's what makes it fun, right?

Yeah, forums make the subtle art of sarcasm a bit tricky. I usually try to put a :P after any jokes I make, but some of my humor may still be misinterpreted. My apologies if I'm not very funny. :P

Anyway, on topic, nice posts so far everyone. An excellent way to handle the guard's "test", Colonel and Duke. I thoroughly enjoyed both. :P Oh, and as to the yellow carpet, I just got tired of finding new ways to write the word "gold". Never knew what "auric" meant before though, so there's a plus.

That reminds me. When we finally get around to encountering Noboru, he'll be pretty famous, too, at least on that northern island there.

Well, gold and yellow are different colors...

Atlas seems to be a place to have slaves.

@ Half Tooth: Eh, it's a funny little gimmick, and it might be fine for a background character who rarely speaks or a comic relief character, but I, personally, just don't think I could get through the entire RP with Scylliria talking like that, especially considering any time she opened her mouth, all tension and seriousness would immediately dissipate. It's just kind of hard to be overly concerned about being in mortal peril when you've got the rough equivalent of JarJar running around.

Is that how it sounds in your head? Whenever I see this type of attempting to write and match accents, I immediately hear some sort of Southern accent.

No, I don't hear her as JarJar; that's why I said "rough equivalent." It's more the fact that she has an incredibly silly accent and not what that accent actually is.

EDIT: I just realized that I have quite literally made almost one third of the posts in this thread. :P

I thought it would sound silly... I shall type normal speech then, you'll have to imagine the accent :p

I dunno, I think you can probably still keep it to some extent just make it less pronounced -> fewer words missing letters for example, I'm sure there's a balance to be struck.

Yeah. An accent is fine, as long as it's not ridiculously excessive.

yes, I'm just not sure how to work it out because their nature is that they don't really have hard sounding consonants in their own language so I thought that could translate over to their accent when they speak english. I thought they would slur their words, or sound kind of underwatery, but those things don't translate into a typable accent.

Well, I did like the accent, I just don't want it to become a problem for you down the road. If your character isn't going to be speaking all that much, it won't be a big deal, but if you have to type three paragraphs of dialogue then it'll cause problems for you and we as readers. I understood what it was supposed to mean quite fine, I'm just worried about you posting with it, if it takes longer or is more difficult to do. To be honest, I almost read it as a mentally challenged French woman; or maybe that's just how it sounds when I try to say it out loud. :P Though I agree that it makes sense with the idea you were working with. ;)

I'd say keep it up for now, see how you like it, and if it becomes too much trouble down the road we can figure it out then. It's all up to you, afterall. :)

Anyway, I think most everyone has posted, so I'll kick my steward in gear soon. Would you all like time for more character interaction before, or just go right to the king? I noticed no one spoke to any of the other characters, so if you would like some time for introductions we can, but we don't have to. There's always time later, of course, but after the king's speech we'll be headed straight to Wellay, where the Duke and my character will be talking a lot as well, then straight to the ship. Just wanted to see what everyone thought. :)

I was planning on making a second post before the king arrived, or whatever. I was just distracted yesterday and had absolutely no time to write anything up. So, I was hoping to get to it today.

You know, I think it's going to be a mite bit confusing to have both a player and a character named James, and having the latter not being controlled by the former. :/

I was thinking the exact same thing. :P James, you must rename your character to Quirk.

Anyway, that's fine, feel free to talk to each other. In the meantime, I shall finish up my character. (I'm such a bad host. )

I'm going to enjoy confusion; me and quirk need to have lots of interaction just to mess with Duke's mind.

You know, here's the real problem with small RPs with limited characters: I want to make so many more characters. There are just so many types of characters that I want to play, but I just can't.

I mean, just look at this list:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Seriously, and that's just the possible characters I picked up from D&D classes. There's so many others I'd love to play, too. :/

That seems excessive for 1 RP... Quantity or Quality?

Obviously I'm not going to have 40+ characters in a single RP. That would be stupid. That's just a list of the characters I'd like to play at some point if I could (excluding the two I currently have in this RP).
