Here is a thread to give ideas for the forum in general, or the group. Just give us your opinion on how to make it the best community and writing group as possible. Maybe even give us an idea on something you may or may not be able to contribute. |

I have a few suggestions: Once we get large enough (maybe thirty so people), start a rule that in order to post a story, you must give a meaningful review for another story. That means for every story you post, you must be able to link a mod (or admin) to at least one review. Writing.org does this, and it seems to work out rather well, as they consistently get plenty of reviews. A writing forum is nothing without constructive criticism, but too many people fail to give it. And I'll hear no excuses about not being a good critic, everyone has opinions, even if it's just pointing out some of the things you really liked about the story. Some kind of "New Writers" section, that would not have the restriction of the above suggestion, for any brand new authors that join. For a few reasons: to prevent cluttering of the normal sections of amateur stories (they can become tiresome), to give newer writers a place to post without feeling intimidated by the more skilled writers (trust me, I've heard this happen), and to give even the least skilled writer a place to give criticism (which would be nice if my first suggestion was put in place). It will also give more experienced writers a place to offer their services to newer writers, and get those critiques they need in order to post stories. A worldbuilding section (perhaps a sub-forum in writing discussion), for everyone (fantasy and sci-fi writers particularly) that is crafting their own original universe for their stories to take place in. I am a huge fan of worldbuilding, and would be absolutely thrilled to be able to bounce ideas off people, or even just discuss worldbuilding in general. It can also be a good place for newer writers to ask questions about creating their own universe, which is a must for any original fantasy or sci-fi story. I'm not sure if we have them or not, but I couldn't find the alignment codes for posts. Meaning being able to align text to the center of the page and whatnot. I use this a lot in my writing, so if we could find a way to enable that I would appreciate it. I had a few more ideas, but I seem to have forgotten them Let me know what you think of these for now, and I might post the others later. Thanks.

Hello folks. I am very experienced with Zetaboards and Invisionfree skins. I designed all the themes at http://s1.zetaboards.com/bptest/index/ (TIP: use the sheme selector at the bottom to view all the themes. Also note that this feature is not available with an invision board, you will first have to upgrade to zetaboards--this option is available in the Admin CP) I'd like to volunteer to give you guys a facelift while I start posting some writings and critiques. If you're interested, could one of the admins please speak to me about what you're looking for in the site's skin. I can do anything, pretty much, so feel free to think big and spectacular--I can make it happen. I also know from experience that users can be very particular about their skins, so it's usually best to poll for ideas and discussion beforehand. (But I'm not trying to run your forum, just getting involved! )Anyways, happy to be here and I hope we'll all get to know each other a little better and improve as writers! EDIT: I also recommend you make a forum specifically for site-related feedback so that any complaints, ideas, suggestions, etc. don't get mixed up with casual discussion. |

How to make it the best community and writing group... that's a tall order right there! One thing I'd definitely consider is almost not having any rules at all. We're here to read and write and help each other out, I don't think we're bracing for an invasion of flaming trolls. You could create a more relaxing atmosphere if you take a chainsaw to your posted rules and regulations - and just put something like this in there: We're not very strict on the content of your posts, but we will edit if it is necessary. If you are unsure about something that should or shouldn't be posted, ask. If you habitually have problems adhering to the wishes of the moderators here, we will remove you. Just an idea. |

I agree that we don't need strictly enforced rules, but we keep them there as a precaution. I for one don't expect everyone to even read them, they're pretty generic as far as forum rules go. I don't think there's much there in the way of restricting people, unless they want to debate religion or politics, in which case we may end up making a separate section exclusively for that purpose. If for no other reason than because I love that kind of thing.

Hey all. Just wondering, what is the general opinion on creating a debate section for the forum? I know we're supposed to be here to write, but I do love a good debate. Sound good? Or would anyone like to argue against it?

I'm for it. You could also just make it a debate thread or something, if you didn't want to add an entire subforum. |

Sounds fine to me. It's something they should have done on the Bethesda forums a long time ago, if you ask me. |

But mostly? The assorted plans at play here would be going very, very wrong due to the actions of a no-name, no-count, utterly talentless Magus by the name of Shirou Emiya. He had no magic worth mentioning, no combat experience of note, and no plan for or knowledge of the War he was about to enter. He did, however, have one trait that had derailed a countless number of such grand, far-reaching schemes throughout history. You see, he really, really wanted to be a hero. -(Best description of the start of a Fate novel ever.) | |

Yeah I'm in favor of that. Bring it out. No insults though. |
