Character Number- 5 Name- Geist Age- 98 [updated Jul2015] Gender- Female, though, it’s very hard to tell Element- Ruin Appearance- Geist is a shadowy figure, preferring to wander at night to shade her thin, long form. Standing at about 21 feet tall at the shoulder, she’s more than capable of squishing a few people under her long toes as she goes, though, she’s lost a significant amount of weight to her vapors over the years. However, her length, like most ruins of her age, is more difficult to discern. As a hatchling, she was about three and a half times as long as she was tall, but, with her trails of vapor blending where she ends and the air begins, there’s no way to know the measurements now. Even her vapors have shifted. Over the years her initially dusky lavender gasses had become intertwined and almost overcome with long, streaks of acidic green, showing her slow growth in power. As she is now, her dark red, almost black base color is slowly being covered by the ever encroaching vapors. Though both her spine stripe and her rib markings are rather easily seen when the wind is cooperating, her shoulders, where her mane was once the thickest, is now clouded with the semi-opaque gas and her back legs are almost completely drowned in it. The vapors only let up around her calves slightly in back, while, forward of that, her front claws are only partially obscured around the wrist. The gasses do spill down her back a bit, slipping in and out of her mane and halfway down the thick of her tail to make a greedy puff at the tip, where the needles there used to grew in fans. Two of her wing sets, as well, have mostly been taken. Only her foremost set, and her largest, is more or less untouched, but still trails the vapor. The pools of gas from all over her body tend to gather where they are created, trailing off lightly or settle in haunting fogs on the ground. There, where it coils low, sometimes lonely, half-formed shapes appear as people or animals. She’s steadily learning how to condense it into more and more solid forms, as of now, using the silhouettes to frighten or lure people. The most frequent of her crafts is a human figure that coalesces to supply gestures or body language that she, as a dragon, is less able to imply without moving facial features. Sometimes, when alone, she pulls together her vapors in the tiny, childlike shape of her missing rider. The ghost walks close with her in the cloud or sits upon her back to take the small, empty seat now unused. To her face, the Ruin’s unmoving mask, cemented in place decades ago, is a monstrous carving, part beast, part demon, with thick fang sets that cross above and below in front and one massive set that dips down at the very back of what would be her mouth. Her black, marble lips are curled up in a half snear-half snarl as her eye ridges heavily lower across her three sets of eyes, all seemingly moving within one socket. Her two sets of horns seem stolen from bulls. Somewhere between the horns and above her eyes, her pulsing, sickly yellow crystal sits, neatly broken in perfect halves. Though, neither the devilish mask, nor the sharp horns are able to hold back her tapered, swiveling needle ears, keen to the sounds of the world. Besides her particular appearance, however, her voice is an important part of first impressions. The base, her first voice, is low, slightly deep, but neither obviously masculine nor feminine. She has many other voices that speak in whispers underneath, but, depending upon the situation, one may come out louder above the rest. The most discernable ones are heard as a more masculine voice, a foxy feminine tone, a sextet of a swoon-some boyband that all speak in harmony, a crackling elderly woman’s rhasp, or that of a child, presumably her lost rider. New Ref with updated Horns Geist by Nherva! Personality- Seemingly serious most of the time, Geist is a spectre of a dragon. She often haunts different places, sliding on her vapor wings with a malevolent air. She’s very intelligent and often up for plotting something or being spiteful. She’s not usually taken to revenge, unless she’s seriously wronged, but she’s a calculating creature and bears grudges deep. She deals a lot in sarcasm and cynicism, but in a mature, almost condescending way that covers up her impish delights in tormenting those she feels deserve it. Having grown into it, she’s also got a cruel streak a mile wide and 16 fathoms deep, a great love for cat and mouse, and no true loyalties to anyone anymore. She is apathetic and restless, unwilling to follow the orders of others unless she feels or deems them nessisary. So, unlike her inexperienced child self, anyone would be hard-pressed now peak Geist’s interested truly serving the tainted lords. She only cares mildly for the purging of Sekkian riders, though, she enjoys the thrill of the hunt now just as she did in her childhood. Geist doesn’t have the haughty pride that many of her element’s untainted base do, but is frequently willing to slyly speak of the foolishness of others in her multi tongued voice. As well, she has become significantly more somber since the disappearance of her partner, though, it can’t be seen on her stone mask features and she tends to cover up this part of her in several ways, one of which is temporarily claiming a town, jumping out at people and scaring the crap out of the inhabitants. She’s also famous for raiding supply stores of sugar or sweets, using her vapors to pull the taste and texture from the foods and leave them as dust before devouring a person or two in the same manner. When she’s not kicking some house over out of dispassion or stealing candy from babies, she may indulge in a little seen, shocking habit. Though so uncaring about the majority of the living, she does have a little piece of her heart left somewhere down deep in there, and she’s given it to a particular species of small, furry, long eared hoppy animal (PicsRelated). She may even risk going farther into Sekkian territory just to watch them, needled ears perked. Of course, she’d eat anyone alive if they found out. Partner- Lenore Hart, presumed deceased Rank- Bone History- Geist was one of the first of her kind. Born from an unusually light colored and high hovering egg, she hatched and bonded with Lenore Hart. The 12 year old child had been kidnapped from her native home in the cold mountains of the northern Loth Angresan chain and had been taken initially to be a quick toy before becoming a meal. She had been brought to the hatching as a last minute amusement and her captor at the time was startled to see her given a viciously glowing oval before Geist emerged to ensnare her. This produced no small amount of tension between her and the other riderless taint, which, over the years, swelled and waned intermittently. Occasionally, especially before Geist was full grown, the irate dragon would spitefully use its connections to send them to even more desolate, hard places, but they endured and grew to enjoy the wilds. Len started as an easily startled, hesitant, and compassionate child and became a very unsentimental, jaded, but deeply emotional rider. One strange side effect of her bonding left Lenore unable to grow to adulthood physically, leaving her in pre-pubescent permanence. This caused her more than a little frustration as her mind grew but her body did not. Beyond this, Len eventually came to see her place as a tainted rider with a sense of logic. It was better to be on the winning side than it was to be on the losing, she thought, and while the pair had their moments of snarling quarrels, they did grow close. Over the years, they gradually rose in rank, but later plateaued, neither having a mind wanting for official power. They fought as mid-level position warriors, but were fierce and conniving. It became apparent, however, that Len’s body was not just a mild disadvantage. Because of her state, the crystal that bonded her and Geist began to overpower her physically and, especially under duress, both dragon and rider would speak with the same dual voice. The girl’s eyes split and became a mirror of her partner’s while her body slipped into a numb emaciation. During a routine scouting mission, Len suddenly fell ill. They were unable to bring the objectives to completion, much to the rage of their superiors. Out of battle, Len’s health soon began a quick spiral downward and the two disappeared from tainted and sekkian radar without any indication of what had happened or where they had gone. After 72 years together as partners, Geist returned alone, roaming desolation. Once quick to snap and snarl, the dragon had become quiet and calculating, unamused about her previous tainted objectives. One of the first things to do upon returning was to painfully suffocate the bone dragon that had given her rider so much strife before. Remorseless, she drained it of any sort of viable nutrient and left it barely a husk of crumbling skin. She became a ghost of a dragon, sometimes speaking in incomprehensible tongues or to noone at all. And while she tends to wander, every now and then, she’ll disappear for a few weeks at a time, always heading toward or coming from the Loth Angresan Mountains.
