"Hey Kialish, look at this," Tempyst said, elegant and serpentine blue body half submerged in the running river. She was holding onto the river bottom as to not be swept away, testing her elemental powers. Kialish was resting on the pebbled banks of the river, head resting on her sleeping back pack. She had been dozing nicely, lulled to sleep by the rushing river and calming splashes of Tempysts' playing. With groggy eyes, Kialish grunted, lifting her head from its restful position.

Once she had Kialishs' attention, Tempysts ice blue eyes concentrated on the water below her. The spot she was staring at bubbled up, like an underwater jet stream was pushing up from below. Slowly, a form came rising out of the water, shapeless and bubbling up. Slowly, the water blob formed into the shape of a simple fish with elegant fins. Even from the shore, Kialish could see the small details in the aqua-fish. Tempyst, whose eyes were locked on its form, moved it toward Kialish, the fish moving as if it were swimming through air. Kialish giggled, sitting up, as the fish approached her. Reaching out, Kialishs' hand went through its wet form, the fish not loosing shape or detail. She pulled her hand out and smiled at Tempyst, whose eyes glinted mischievously. From the very tail tip, the water formed fish began to freeze, a light frost climbing its detailed little body. It slowly stopped moving, every detail etched in its frozen state. The frozen fish fell into Kialishs' lap, cold mist rolling off its body.

"Well, my water serpent," Kialish said, holding up the ice fish and inspecting it. "It seems you've perfected a rather useless little skill?"

To that Tempyst snorted and laughed. "Useless you say?" She said in a high voice. "not many people or dragons would find this deadly-" she spat out 3 jets of water that splatter helplessly against the pebbles. "-But, my dear rider, if I do this..." She spat out 3 more jets, only this time freezing them into 3 long ice spears which, upon hitting the dirt, embedded itself into the ground. Kialish applauded.

"Well, excuse me of my mistake than," She said, eying the spears. She knew from a young age Tempyst was more of a cold-water dragon. Of course, she would never master the ices' unique ability to spew instant freezing slush, but she could freeze water to an extent. Not huge bodies of water, but she could will water to freeze in smaller quantities. Every dragon had its limits. Pulling her knees up, she watched as Tempyst pulled 2 more smaller fish shapes out of the water and made them swim around her.

A familiar trumpeting roar disturbed the mild peace of Kialish and Tempyst’s sanctuary, accompanied by the lumbering, circling form of a large steel dragon. Homing in on them, Hephaestas began to backwing over the river with unusually heavy thuds of his great wings. As he came in to set his hind feet on a large rock, he flapped softly to steady himself, rocked back on his haunches with his long body held upright and his wings still half flared. Grinning loonily and panting something fierce, he tilted his head back to sing out a metallic greeting to the water dragoness. “Tempyst! Hello!” he called, shuffling uncomfortably.

In stark contrast to his usual lithe gleam, today Hephaestas was draped in a heavy suit of canvas sacs laden down with sand. The unflattering bulk clung limpidly to his heaving sides, their weight evidently the source of the dragon’s scant breath. Flaring out his shining wings for a moment, he lifted himself off the rock and flap-hopped onto the bank, sinking into the sand beneath his weights. Despite the burden the metal dragon was as amiable as ever, plodding briskly up to flop with a tree-shaking thud near Kialish. Heaving with open mouth and hot breath, he gave another breathless grin to the water dragoness. “Look what…huff…I brought!” he crowed.

A pale head popped up from beneath a flap of weights, followed by a hypnotically ample body. Venus wriggled out from the ties with a quiet, feminine squeak, stopping on her father’s back to shake and compose herself. Glancing back at the other handholds to her fellow hitchhikers, the red-bellied female flared her azure crest with a delighted chortle. “How lovely!” She laughed, eyes bright as she surveyed the scenery. Her eyes lingered on the towering walls of the city, the lush forest that bordered it, and contently she sighed out a breath of summery air. Trotting down her father’s arm and simply rolling into the sweet-smelling, leaf-littered soil, she arranged herself cupped against Hephaestas’ palm, swishing her yellow tail happily. Hephaestas cooed lovingly and bent to nuzzle her, purring like sliding steel. “Company!” he grinning, snorting against his daughter’s soft belly and lifting his head back to a comfortable height, watching the dragoness expectantly.

Brier clung to the straps that held her onto Hephaestas's back. The ride was both exhilarating and terrifying. Strast was turned face to the wind, mouth open in a happy grin. Brier probably wouldn't be as nervous if she was in a more.... secure position, even though she was so securely strapped in that she couldn't even move in the harness. Brier's vision was suddenly filled with Strast's face as he happily nuzzled her. She laughed and stroked his scales. When Hephaestas had asked his children to join him on an outing, Brier was surprised that the Metal asked her to join in as well.

Hephaestas's near deafening roar, made Brier's ears ring as she put her hands to them. Strast crooned at her but when she smiled he went back to looking ahead. When the Metal backwinged and landed on a rock, Brier squeaked at the sudden change in position. She waited a moment, listening to Hephaestas call out to another dragon. Tempest? The water dragoness? Brier undid her harness and scrambled over the back of Hephaestas and down the side where the Earth dragonett was nuzzling her father. As soon as she had steadied herself, Strast came sliding down his father's side and tackled his rider. Brier squeaked then laughed tickling her dragon's belly scales. She had only seen Strast this playful only a few times before. He normally ran more on the serious side. She picked herself up and straightened her clothes. It was a nice summer day and the Metal had hinted that they may go to the river so Brier had her swimming things on under a loose tunic and pants. She had no socks on under her boots and she was happy that they were at a river. Brier loved to swim.

OOC [Arai & Reka]

Seated a good distance behind Brier, Arai wasn't strapped in like she was. Instead, she had chosen to slip her legs under the straps for security. She didn't like the restriction, despite the difficulty of holding onto a much larger dragon she was not used to riding. Undranthe wasn't this huge. Reka's tail was coiled securely around on of her arms. She was without her leather harness today. Arai didn't think it wise to have her wear it to see Tempyst. Reka was getting better now, ever since Arai carved away time from their training to let her relax.

She lifted a hand to stroke the Water's side, subtly feeling for the hardness of her scales. Reka responded with a pleased warble, though unwilling to tear her gaze from the magnificent sky. She was perched on Arai's thigh, leaning forward eagerly with partially lifted wings against the wind. There was faint regret drifting in the back of her mind. One that she kept carefully concealed from her dragon. Despite the love she felt for Reka, Arai was reluctant to reveal any weaknesses to her. If she couldn't be as powerful as a dragon in future, at least now, let this be a source of motivation for Reka to strife for more. She knew her Water's temperament- knew that Reka didn't want to 'disappoint' her. Reka was doing very well, the only indication of approval Arai was willing to give was her quiet affections- a little caress here, a lingering touch there or little gestures like carrying the exhausted water to bed.

Hephaestas's roar made her cringe. The sound thundered in her ears, stinging a little. The sudden vertical shift of his position had her clutching Reka close, assaulted by sudden paranoia of losing the Water. Her hold only loosened when the Steel landed. Reka didn't mind at all. She crooned and snuggled comfortably in her chosen's arms. Sliding off Hephaestas, Arai hauled Reka onto her shoulder, cradling the rest of her in one arm and made her way to face him. “Thanks you for the ride,” she said with a polite smile.

Reka didn't repeat her gratitude, however. Her attention was locked solely on the gigantic Water- her mother. Her wide gold tinted, yellow eyes shone with a marvel for the water fishes Tempyst conjured in the air.

“You should go see her,” Arai's voice shook her from her daze. She shrank instantly to hide behind Arai's shoulders, fins flat against her body as she peeked at Tempyst. Should she?

Gently, Arai untangled the Water and bent down to drop her lightly on the grass. Reka was still too timid to face her mother, oddly enough. Her tail coiled around Arai's leg, body contracting to press against her chosen while she continued to stare at Tempyst. What would her mother be like? She wasn't sure.... It had been so long since she'd last seen her.

Dedric and Hertz had also chosen to come along when Hephaestus said he was taking a bunch of Wymrlings to the River by Lihn. Hertz was more than happy to take a break and play, and Dedric figured it wouldn't hurt to interact with other wyrmlings, most of whom were Hertz 'brothers and sisters'. Some were Hephs kids, but since Heph and Tempyst had 'shared' their clutches, they were all one big dragon family. Dedric was strapped in a little in front of Brier, enjoying the wind whipping his hair around. The cool air felt good and against Hephaestus' warm body, it was a comfortable ride. Hertz absolutely adored it, the 6-foot long wymrling holding onto the harness with his now sharp and slightly hooked claws. The wind that whistled through his horns and spines made a wonderful song as they flew, the wyrmling composing his own orchestra through the flight. Dedirc couldn't help but smile.

Hephaestus' roar shook him like the others, feeling the sound vibrate his whole body. He looked past the Steel Metal dragons light bulk, spying Hertzs mother and her rider below. Hertz trilled loudly over the wind, reaching a pitch that was lost to the human ear when he saw her. He bounced on Heph, quickly grabbing the harness once again when the great dragon had made his descend. When they landed by Kialish, they all began to climb of. Hertz pranced down gracefully, trotting in an eager circle as Dedric slid down the silvery body. Hertz trilled again to his mother, prancing off to the water dragoness, leaving Dedric behind.

The landing of Hephaestus startled Kialish, even though she was expecting it. She chuckled as the wyrmlings came off of him, looking at the gorgeous form of Venus. That dragon was so pretty and unique, the one who bonded to her was very lucky. Tempyst crooned to the wyrmlings, letting two of the 3 fish fall back into the water. Kialish had thrown back the ice one, which Temypst quickly melted back to its liquid state. Her blue lips spread into a sweet smile as she watched Heph play with little Venus, who was growing quickly. But, her attention soon turned from Venus, to Brier and Strast, to the beautiful little Reka, child of her own. The bright blue wyrmling was shy, nervous around her mother, her hide reflecting light as if she was moving water. Smiling, Tempyst send her fish to swim around Reka and Arai.

"Do not worry, little Reka," Tempyst crooned, swimming closer to the shore line. "You have grown so much already! Soon you will be able to do wonderful things like this."

The little fish swam around Reka before a light layer of frost covered its body, giving it a cool appearance. You could see the water ripple inside the ice shell and see the detailed little scales. Tempyst didn't want the little one to fear her, especially since she wanted to teach her! As the fish swam around, she noticed Hertz as well. She smiled sweetly at the little green-and-red sonic, who promptly joined her in the water. He swam towards her, making small happy noises as he swam with her.

"Reka, sister!" He called out. "Come and swim with us!"

Dedric watched as Hertz tried to involve his sister. He was very nice to her. He watched Brier get undressed to swim and considered joining himself. He hadn't brought anything to change into if he got wet, but he didn't care either way. Than again, he didn't want to interrupt his time with his mother. So, he decided on settling himself by the shore, watching him swim and play with Tempyst.

'Little' Venus hummed pleasantly as her clutchmates followed her down the glittering arm of her father, swishing her quince-yellow tail in amusement. At 17ft long, the two month-old dragoness already outweighed every rosemary in the academy, yet her rapidly increasing bulk seemed to only enhance her grace. Languidly stretched with her shoulder cupped in Hephaestas' hand, she tilted her head curiously as the other wyrmlings scattered. Her woman had elected not to join in on the outing...she was taking a rare chance to tend to her nephew. Venus would have joined her, but Hephaestas had been so insistent...how could she refuse? Tilting her head back, she warbled affectionately to him.

Hephaestas made another happy sliding noise in his throat, watching the younglings intently, and a little jealously. While the metallic monster liked to splash and play in the cool streams, his prodigious weight made him unable to swim. He just...sank. Pouting a little, he wriggled his long fingers in the damp soil, picking up a bit to rub between his sickled thumb and forefinger, idly noting the loamy grit of it. Venus, watching him curiously, got to her feet with a lazy stretch of her bright wings and leisurely flare of cerulean fins.

Flashing her father a cheeky smile, she bounded down to the river, long talons sinking into the soil and flicking up pebbles as she ran. Laughing gaily, the oversize Earth female swept past the hesitating Reka, looping around to frisk around the lanky blue-green water. Smirking to Arai, she dipped her head an scooped up her clutchmate between her smooth, swooping horns and hoisted the water up, Reka's chest draped over her nose. Leaping the rest of the way to the water, she splashed into the river with a massive curtain of water thrown up by her momentum, green and maroon rippling through the crystal sheet before it fell with a tremendous splash.

"Come on Strast!" Brier shouted and she ran after the Earth. She whooped and leapt into the wave that Venus had created. Laughing she let her self get cared into the water. She looked at the shore and noticed that Strast hadn't followed her, and he sat looking at the water pensively. "Oh come on Strast the water's fine!" The little Fire walked up to the edge of the water and stuck one foot in. He looked at the water and huffed at it. Swimming to the bank, Brier splashed him and he flung himself back and looked at her askance. Then he leapt in next to Brier slashing her back.

Strast paddled around for a bit before going back to the shallow water, he lay sprawled out all twelve feet of him. His wings were half spread and he looked very happy. Brier came out of the river and squeezed water out of her braid. "Thank you Hephaestas, Tempest, Kialish. I really enjoy being here."

She was once again, drawn to the crystaline fishes Tempyst animated, eyes darkening with interest, caution tossed to the wind. Her snout stretched towards the fish as a thin layer of frost glossed over it. The sudden chill tingled her nose and she withdrew. It spread in an odd shivering current through her skull and down her spine. She tried to shake off the sensation, but a building itch in her nose forced a sqeak of a sneeze out of her. Her breath rushed out in a foggy frosted mist. It was numbing, strange and a little uncomfortable too. Reka watched a little apprehensively when Hertz entered the water. She'd feel much safer with Arai close. The lake appeared too large and deep.

While the young Water was puzzled by the change, Arai's eyes were intent on Tempyst's icy fish. She hadn't considered the possibility that a Water could have any relation to ice but come to think of it, the connection was plainly obvious. Her thoughts were rudely cut off when charming Venus pounded in an oddly graceful trot around them. And that mischievous smirk- Arai could just see- Oh nevermind.

Reka shrieked a shrill, ear piercing cry when vertigo hit. She scrambled frantically atop Venus's head, she attempted to run along the large Earth's spine. The cerulean fins barred her way, however, and before she could think of jumping overboard, Venus launched herself into the water. The great splash that flowered around them could have emptied the Academy's fountain.

Feeling absolutely tiny and vulnerable, she slithered into the water and propelled herself, swifter than the fastest sailfish towards the shore. She was a whipping glimmer of rippling water under the surface. Her yellow eyes were wide, blindly searching to reach her bonded. She jetted over Hertz's curving back, smacked right into Strast's spread wing, clambered unelegantly over his spines and with a coiled flick, leapt out of the water to collide right into Arai's chest.

All sinew and muscle, the wrymling was heavy. The impact was like being bludgeoned with a club. Arai stumbled back, nearly choking out her heart in the process. She really needed to work on Reka's clingy tendency. Cradling the Water, who had practically coiled herself aroung her torso, Arai kicked off her boots, patted Reka comfortingly on the head and jumped right into the water.

When their heads broke the water's surface, Arai's smirk was met with Reka's squirt of water. This was the first time she had ever been able to swim with her chosen. Excited, Reka darted around her, going under and around to see how her two-legged, finless bonded could keep herself afloat. But she could see something else in the water- Tempyst's belly and webbed paws. They were just like hers. Intrigued, she wove closer, swam down her entire length and poked her head out from under the surface to study Tempyst's tail.

Meanwhile, Imperious had finally caught up with the big bad shiny beast (Hephaestas). The little silver gryphon was ruffled from his less than swift journey no thanks to the large Steel's disturbing wingbeats. Having no interest for the water, he perched, all puffed up and red eyed on Hephaestas's horn, tweeting derisively at the dragon.

Kialish burst out in a fit of giggles when Venus strode over and picked up Reka over her massive snout and went into the water. Tempyst laughed a little, her lips stretching into a smile. Reka was quick to get out the water, much to Hertzs' dismay. He sadly trumpeted after her as she shot onto her riders' waist, trying to wrap around her like a giant blue snake. As Arai jumped into the water, young dragon around her waist and all, Dedirc considered joining... It looked like fun, even if he wasn't an amazing swimmer or anything. Kialish smiled at him, nodding toward the water. smiling shyly, he took off his shoes and socks, not too worried about getting soaked since he had other clothes back at the Academy to change into. Jumping in, Hertz swam over, hooting an owl-like pitch from his horns.

"I think its the water doing that," He said, hooting louder from his horns. Dedric laughed as he swam up to him, Tempyst and Reka. Tempyst, very pleased with her children by her, watched after them with glad eyes. As Hertz hooted and swam around Dedric, she spied Reka looking at her large tail-fin. She lifted it up, so the youngling could see it better.

"You will one day be big too, little Reka, already you look so beautiful!" She crooned. She smiled at Heph, eyes twinkling with gratitude.

Feeling more happy now that he was in the water, Dedric ducked under the water, eyes open in an attempt to see the others. He swam toward Arai with a mischievous smile before grabbing her leg and pulling. Not enough to pull her head under, but enough to probably startle the other girl. Hertz laughed, rolling around in the water, bumping into Tempysts forearm. He looked up at his mother with a goofy grin, Tempyst sweeping him away on his back with a gentle roll of the river.

"So, Hephaestus, Denik didn't want to come?" Kialish asked while on the shore, looking up at the great metal dragon.

Venus, so caught up in the joy of her paws thudding against the earth, simply hadn't noticed poor Reka's squirming until the raging water settled away from her dripping-wet face. Coming up from her wake, she shook her head, fins and languid ears rippling and flapping against the sides of her soft cheeks. As the last of the droplets traced away from her rosey eyes, she opened them just in time to gasp in alarm as Reka bolted, overturning everyone and bodyslamming her poor rider.

Treading water, the big green dragoness crooned apologetically to the pair as they slipped back into the water. "Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you..." Venus began, quickly stopping as she saw the little water's improved mood. Floating beside Arai, she chuckled with relief, before eying the human knowingly. "Certainly an easy-going dragoness that you've managed to impress."

Hephaestas beamed at sopping-wet crew, his razor mouthful of teeth about as threatening as the grin of a puppy. He was quite proud of himself for arranging this, even if he was somewhat excluded by his...handicap...At least it had been well worth the hard flight--[/i]Hey?![/i] Swiveling his head and eyes around, Hephaestas finally got a strained glimpse of the chattering birdthing perched atop his head. It looked like baby, but was more...his colour. Deciding that it could offer about as much threat as Baby, the steel snorted and ignored it, instead turning his attention to the emerging ride of one of his fire sons.

Flicking his talons a bit to get rid of the soil from under his talons, the steel dragon dipped his head over and pressed his cool, smooth snout against the young woman's belly. Giving her a gentle nudge and a ticklish gush of hot dragon breath from his nostrils, his throat echoed with it's unusual, scraping purr. "It's such a pleasure, Brier. You're wonderful company." he said, amber eyes nearly level with hers despite his size. At least talking normally, the steel's curious, metallic voice was not too much louder than a human one. Nose still pressed to her, he rumbled mournfully at Kialash, pouting. "No, he's off bickering with the other scholars. He's very cranky about it too." The dragon smirked. "Can't wait to hassle him about it later."

Hephaestas's nose was cold and Brier laughed. His voice was fun to listen too. Hugging the great head Brier turned and ran into the water jumping in causing a wave, that while not as big as Venus' was decent sized. Strast squeaked as he was swamped by the wave. He swam over to Brier and dunked his unsuspecting rider. Brier came up spluttering and slashed him. "See told you it's fun," she said laughing at him. She swam out into the main stream of the river and dived down to the bed. Strast followed his rider curious. His wings beat slowly under the water to propel him along.

Brier stayed down for a few more moments before shooting to the surface. The currant had pushed her down stream a little but Brier quickly swam back to the others. Strast came near Reka, "This is fun, I'm glad I came," he splashed the water and quickly swam over to his chosen. Brier stroked over to where Arai was swimming and splashed her friend.

"How are you enjoying the water Arai?"

She shrank warily when the large fins she was investigating moved, but her mother's croon evoked an instinctual calm that gradually allowed her to edge closer. Her own fins rose with interest when the watery sheen over her mother's tail sparkled under the light. Growing larger would be nice. At least she wouldn't feel tiny compared to the other dragons. Maybe size could bring a small sense of security. Beautiful? Many keep telling her that, but she could never be sure of it herself. She looked... well she looked like herself, really. Just Reka. She pressed a tiny paw against Tempyst's tail webbing and tilted her head towards her. “Mother is beautiful,” she said, much like stating a fact rather than a compliment.

Arai smiled as she watched mother and daughter finally bonding. When the pale faced Earth apologised in her soft, enveloping voice, Arai shook her head and assured her, “It's alright.” Reka wasn't frightened. The Water was wary to an extreme extent. Such sudden separation from her chosen would easily startle her, like pulling the carpet from under her feet. Easy-going? The silly little Water could be so impossibly clueless at times. “She's easy to be with.” Very willing and malleable in her hands.

Something locked on her ankle. The instantaneous rush of hot adrenaline through her veins injected through surprise drove her to react. Just as she sank slightly from the pull, she glimpsed a shadow in the water. Her free foot flexed instinctively in a swift movement towards its target- a little too late to pull back when she realised it was poor Dedric. When she was about to apologise, Arai jerked from Brier's water splashing. She stared at the other girl for a moment, before finally gathering her scattered wits to reply. “Fine... I think.” Like an idiot who had no notion of 'fun'.

"Ah, I see," Kialish said to Hephaestus' response. With a smile she added "and be sure to throw in some extra hassling from me. He needs to relax and take a break, enjoy the presence of the young while they still are."

Tempyst absolutely beamed at little Reka, as her croon reassured the young water dragon. She felt the spark of family connection as Reka put her paws to Tempysts webbed tail fin, telling her she was beautiful. She nuzzled her baby girl and crooned again. "Trust me, little one, you will be the envy of all your clutch mates as you get older. Every male will be chasing your tail." She said with a laugh. Rekas beauty was already so prominent even know, form her iridescent blue-green scales to her unique webbing, she was a prime example of a water dragoness.

Dedric expected the kick, although it didn't stop the pain that rushed from his shoulder outward as he came up to breath. He laughed, although wincing all the while. He rolled his shoulder, feeling the pain, but relishing that he could still use it. Hertz squeaked, startled by the pain he felt through Dedric, nudging his own shoulder, wondering for only a moment why he too felt injury. Than of course, it became obvious that it was only their connection. Although it could easily become a hiderence, at least they would know when one another was injured.

"Dedric, are you okay?" The green sonic crooned, rolling onto his belly and paddling over.

"Yeah," he said, smiling with pain in his voice. He looked to Arai. "I guess I deserved that," He chuckled. "Good kick, by the way."

Venus still sighed with genuine relief at Arai's reassurances, there was nothing worse than upsetting someone, much less a clutch-sister. The strange comment that followed it, however, made the Earth wyrmling blink with surprise and eye Arai warily. Such a weighted statement, on the surface it was an affectionate compliment, but beneath it chimed a hardness that chilled her with it's darkness. Her cerulean fans folded back with anxious tension, and her gentle face might have betrayed her unease hadn't Dedric so thoroughly distracted the girl.

Huffing with surprise and jerking back, some instinct tried to prise the dragoness' broad, bright wings from the water, straining with the weight of the water and snapping away from the surface tension with another bilious bubble of turbulent water. Flashing her wine-red belly as she reared back her wings made tremendous slaps against the disturbed water as she flailed, Brier's splashing dribbling down her face and the curves of her muscles as the surprise changed to amusement. Arai's face clinched it. With a booming laugh the dragon splashed back into the water, peering mischievously at her confused face. "It's such a hot day, more water could probably cool you poor two-leggers off..." she cooed, smirking cheekily across her baby-blue face. Her bubbling laugh was utterly clouded by the enormous wave of water her beating wings splashed over Dedric, Brier, Arai and Hertz alike. Thoroughly amused by the sopping indignity, she filled the air with her crystalline laugh.

Hephaestas snorted loudly at Kialish, his scaly face full of the cheeky mischief his daughter seemed to have inherited. "It almost seems as if he doesn't like them, the daft fellow." He sighed, eyebrows sarcastically high, eying the rider invitingly. His own bonded was too busy for banter...perhaps she would play with him.
