Character Number - Fourth

Name - Lyserg de Alaire, prefers Ly.

Age - Twenty-six

Gender - Male

Sexuality - Asexual

Appearance -
  • Ly is an imposing six feet tall, but he lacks the wide frame and girth of a solider to truly create a picture of brutish strength. He is fairly skinny, moreso gaunt in later months than in teenage youth. His muscles are wiry and oddly formed from the repetitive nature of riding saddle and climbing across dragonback. His endurance is shoddy at best. Ly’s body is built for sprinting and short bursts of energy much like his dragon’s characteristic nature. The child-like roundness of his face has since worn away with the harsh introduction to dragonriding. Round, pale green eyes are set deep beneath locks of long, wavy golden hair. A forlorn and gloomy expression often besets this young man’s presence in current time.

Ly’s typical attire consists of a pair of many-pocketed dark brown pants, a heavy dark tunic, and a raptor gauntlet on his right forearm. Not particularly skilled in the area of close-combat fighting, he often does not carry a sword. A dagger is typically hidden in the confines of his boot, but due to the electrical nature of his companion, any sort of metal upon his person is apt to adhere to his skin with a painful burn. Instead, he has adopted rubber-soled boots to curb unnecessary misfortune while grounded and taken on several forms of weapons such as hardwood clubs. The most effective dragonback weapon by far is his crossbow outfitted to launch steel-tipped harpoons. The projectile is connected to a thread of thin chain cable and when used properly, can provide a means of aerial tazering.

His lack of grace is something of an art form. Ly’s supreme klutziness, unfortunately, is hardly impeded by the regular shocks of electrical energy from his bondmate and makes for rather interesting and embarrassing social confrontations. Alone, he is better suited to keep some semblance of grace, but when accompanied by Quark, his knack for knocking over objects due to a spasmodic twitch or a stumbled misstep greatly increases. His apathy for such occurrences, however, has only increased. Lyserg takes these cases as they come and does his best not to let it get to him too much, but the occasional blunder might send him into an exasperated fit.

From an unfortunate childhood accident sprung forth an odd neurological ailment that has affected his ability to store information past the coding stage of memory. Bonding has increased his sense of direction, the soul-connection planting him more firmly to the earth and his dragon than he might have managed before Quark’s hatching.
Personality -
  • First and foremost, Lyserg is a softhearted person. He may not always show this, however, being quite the serious individual in broad daylight, but his intentions are typically for the better. This being said, Lyserg is dedicated in the highest degree. When playing a game, he takes everything to a crazed matter of utmost seriousness. The kind of person to not finish monopoly until he says he is finished, Lyserg takes most of his competitions to the next level. This is, of course, if he can remember what he is doing.

Lyserg has fallen victim to an odd predicament in his early youth. When curiosity brought him dangerously close to a pyrotechnic display, he was caught in the reaction and suffered minor brain damage. Thankfully, the only thing that his accident has seemed to affect is his ability to store and convert short term memories into long term. Triggered by incredibly loud noises, it makes for an almost crippling handicap. However, with repetition, some of these lapses in knowledge can be overcome. Names, typically, are an excuse to this, for he can put faces to their corresponding names with cunning accuracy. Zria, his Ice Phoenix, acts as a reminder when in good spirits. If not, she can potentially induce a lapse with a decisive squawk or shriek into his ear.
Rank - Scout/Spy; not affiliated with any Wing.

History-
  • The first several years of Lyserg's life is truly a mystery, for he does not remember anything before an ill-fated accident one summer night during his seventh year where he had gotten too close to a fireworks display that had gone horribly wrong. His parents, the pyrotechnics behind the Lihn operation, assured him of everything once his first bout of amnesia passed. He cannot truly recall anything, however, but took their words as granted.

For some reason that he knew naught, or at least could not remember, his parents disappeared shortly after the event and he wound up in an orphanage. Remembering things after his accident, and even of them, was a terrific challenge. He took notes of everything and everything as they happened. Soon, though, these proved to be too tedious to keep up with. Not one for abdandonning what he started, he tried to come up with an alternative solution.Having spent more time rereading little notes he made during the day than he could care for, Lyserg eventually turned to training his pet Phoenix for help. Doing so proved to be a feat, as he could not remember what he had taught her at certain times. However, he would never give up.

Over time, with her gradual help, he succeeded in training Zria. Not only that, but he also began to slowly correlate the relationship between loud noises and that of his loss in memory. The knowledge was stored in the back of his mind, yet he could not truly access it. Not even the bird could help him there, so he strived further to find a way to release it. Eventually, his frivolous searching led him to the realm of Sekkian dragons. The linkage of the minds of those who were bonded became a source of passion for him to explore. He wanted that kind of relationship, whatever it was, for he had never before in recollection had been able to hold a decent bond with any other sentient being besides Zria. This desire, fortunately, lasted well beyond the lapses in memory to kindle stronger. That bond, he kept telling himself, was a key to his past, his current self, and to his future.

Not long after the commencement of his entry into candidacy, the Sekkian Hatching fell upon he and his fellow recruits. A little Lightning Hatched from him, born the son of a Rosemary sire and Lightning dam. Though he was not a Sonic, Lyserg's immediate reaction was one of fear, wary of the eccentric hatchling's often loud and boisterous shouts and cries for attention.

  • Lyserg has an Ice Phoenix by the name of Zria, a moody creature obtained as a young chick from the garbage cans outside of center Lihn. For reasons he knew naught, she was there, peeping pathetically during a winter showcase of the family’s well-known firework displays. He almost passed her off for that of a discarded child’s toy if it hadn’t been for a faint spark of icy crystals that caught his eye. He took her in after that night and hand-raised her well into adulthood.

Zria’s attitude is typically cold towards general humanity, sometimes going so far as to bite those who come too close to her human. Her critical copper eyes pass judgment on those she deems worthy of venturing near him. She has a soft spot for tall men, however, and often utilizes them as perches to survey her kingdom.

She is enormous in terms of bird size, resembling in both bulk and appearance of a Harpy Eagle. Her wings are wide and long, built very well for soaring for long periods of time. The plumage of her body follows that of the aurora borealis phenomenon. A dark blue-violet head and crest fades to deep blue over her shoulders and chest, gradually turning to a light sky blue and finally stark white toward her posterior. The white tips of her primary and elongated tail feathers boast a regular pattern of iridescent blue-green eyespots.

The Dragon

Name - Quark

Age - Six

Gender - Male

Element - Lightning

Appearance -

Height - 12ft, Length - 50ft, Wingspan - 70ft
  • Quark is a very small Lightning, due in part to his Rosemary heritage, and is built to an almost emaciated degree. His skin is stretched taunt over prominent bones and lithe muscles, as if one had taken Salus' hide and pulled over a much larger skeleton. He is, and always will be, a thin wisp of a dragon due to a high metabolic rate despite the near insatiable appetite that he boasts. One might say that he eats as if he hosted a ravenous tapeworm, but that is hardly the case. His shoulder bones and hips stick out unnaturally, almost grotesquely, and his long limbs are little more than sticks that hold up his small body. His muzzle is short and broad like his dam's, almost to a squashed degree with a set of massive, bulging, green, oval eyes set to either side of his face that stare out with ever-constant curiosity. A long neck of unsightly muscles flows back from his jaws, with a mass of thick, protruding muscle just behind his head to hold up his enormous pair of horns, and connects to a narrow chest that houses an oversized heart and lungs. His ribs are quite visible beneath the layer of minute, soft scales.

However, for all his near sickish appearance, Quark boasts a pair of horns unmatched by any of his brethren that would make a Chaos green with envy. Large and long in length, the creamy expanse of sharp points and curves dominate his body, reaching as far back over him as his pins, just before his tail juts out from the back of his loins, and pokes forward over the bridge of his nose. As heavy as it is, it often proves a hassle as he struggles to just hold his head up. The constant usage of his neck muscles has thickened and strengthened over time, making it easier to hold up his head than he was able to do as a young wyrmling. When tired, he has discovered that by folding his neck over itself he can use the taller back spines to hold the brunt of the weight.

Quark, for the most part, is colored in a monotonous pattern of dark and light grey. The lighter color rests on his belly and slowly trails to a darker hue across his back, where the grey is close to black. His expansive wings are patterned in such the same way, with the wing arm being darker and the membrane slowly trailing to a light, creamy grey at the edges of the wings. The only break in color, save the bright, vibrant green of his buggy eyes is a strange arrangement of gold across his sides and the edges of his wings. Almost like an EKG heart monitor, the line of yellow-gold starts at the edge of his mouth and darts across his hide in a jagged up and down fashion. Toward the end of his tail the line flatlines in a solid streak of color.

Hatching Scene -

Quote:

While some of the other Hatchlings wondered about, awestruck and innocent, one of the lightning eggs was beginning to shift, languorous tremors running along the surface of its bright shell. The movements were so small that they were not noticed by most, though, barely visible as the dragonet within struggled to be free, making slow but sure work on the interior of its prison. It was patient, unlike some others, methodically picking at the structural weakness it had discovered until the calcified flakes began to peel away, falling soundlessly to the ground below. Even despite the steady progress the Hatchling was making, it took awhile before the small creature's snout pierced the side of the egg, pale gray skin wrinkling in alarm as it met the air.

The nose withdrew almost immediately, as if startled by the world outside. For a few moments longer there was silence until the Hatchling began to push out once more, this time with zeal, throwing itself at the hole it had created, shell and membrane bulging out until it finally burst through the side and went tumbling, a small squeal of alarm alerting the world to its presence. It didn't take long for the Hatchling to stop rolling, especially as it somehow managed to entangle itself on...itself.

Unlike most Hatchlings, born with underdeveloped horns, the small male lightning already boasted an impressive rack. Intricate and complex, the massive set of horns that adorned his knobbly head were, to say the least, extravagant. They were the sort that made harts look pathetic, more like doe than the most masculine of deer. The only issue was that the scrawny, spindly dragon could hardly hold up his head, especially since he had somehow managed to catch his hind foot in his horns, struggling vainly for awhile as his panicked kreels increased in volume and the delicate scales of his foot began to peel away, rubbed raw by his struggles. It was almost to the point when he was thrashing and screaming that he suddenly stopped, blinking and staring at at his captured limb, expression abruptly changing from panicked to quizzical.

After examining his foot for a few moments he began to twist his body experimentally, arching and jerking his body until his foot began to slide free, trilling enthusiastically as he regained full use of his limbs, albeit with some limitation. Nearly all the soft gray scales had been rubbed off and the delicate flesh beneath was inflamed and raw, small droplets of blood congealing on the surface. Nonetheless, he straightened slowly and surely, revealing his awkward, gangly body as he attempted to lift his head high, favoring his injured hind leg but set upon finding his rider.

He wasn't the most handsome of things, bug-eyed and so thin that portions of his bones seemed to threaten to poke through his hide, his scales shifting from a a light gray on his belly to a darker gray near his spine. The only interruption of the monochrome gradient came in the form of a long line of yellow that started at the corner of his lips and ended at the tip of his yellow, straight save for a few jagged rises and falls along his length. A series of barbed spines extended from his hindquarters and the back of his neck, as well as one similar ascending and descending ridge on his tail. It was his horns, though, which were most impressive, the complex creamy expanse dominating his body more than anything else. Already he was stumbling under the enormous weight, even though he was moving forward with admirable determination towards one Candidate in particular, limping along as swiftly as possible.

He ignored the females, eyes instead fixated upon a male who held a rectangular, pale yellow crystal, clutched safely in his grasp. "You!" he squeaked, voice so high that the pitch was practically grating. He increased his speed, ambling towards the boy before him until he overbalanced and tripped, somehow managing to fall flat on his face and exposing the crystal nestled at the base of his skull, an exact match for the one Lyserg had. That didn't stop him, though, the small Lightning Hatchling pushing himself once more to his feet, relief visible on his face. "You you you! You are mine, you are mine! Yesyes, mine all mine!" he chirruped, throwing himself the last few feet to Lyserg. "You are mine, and I am your Quark! Isn't that graaaaand?"
