Character Number- 5th Name- Carpédiem Estelle Age- 46 Gender- Male Sexuality- Straight! Appearance- Standing roughly 5'10 or so, Carpédiem Estelle is average in height bearing golden-blonde hair, which he wears shoulder length and sometimes shorter when he feels like it, and distinctly almond bright blue eyes. He has a somewhat feminine appearance, though he himself tends to deny it. He usually wears a typical riders uniform, and has to tie his hair back when flying astride his dragon. As he and Celi travel a lot around the untainted and neutral zones, they do come across some nifty new outfits to wear. Some of his favorites include anything with multiple pockets or dangly-nik naks with beads, to pendants he trades shed scales for. His favorite colors to wear are usually darker tones, to go with Celiostiahle's lighter brights. Carpédiem wears comfortable boots, though his favorite pair seemed to have walked off on its own at some point about eleven years ago. (Celiostiahle denies pawning them, but the art supplies she got the same day suggests otherwise....) His belt has slots where his sketching supplies, pencils, charcoal sticks, and some paints are snuggly fitted here, while he also has a long chain that, while it isn't for fasion, actually hooks tightly to his sketchbook. This is to help prevent accidental loss by dropping it from high in the air, where winds are fickle. He can often be seen with a pencil behind his ear, though Celi often has to remind him where he 'lost' it at. As the two travel around, Carpédiem must also wear sets of either cool, thin silks to keep from overheating, or also thick winter cloaks and furs for the colder areas. The most striking addition to Carpédiem's attire is his habit of wearing a pair of Celi's feathers in his hair, which reach the small of his back. His bright blue star-centered crystal is kept close by at all times, chained to a necklace which he never takes off. It typically rests against the center of his sternum, much like Celi's. Looks kinda like so: http://alllayedout.com/Images/Male_Celebri...eanu_reeves.jpg only blonde/blue eyed! Personality- Bright, Insightful, Artistic, and Inspiring are some key words that define this rider, who was once- and still is when he can sneak off- a freelance artist who traveled about, painting up maps and portraits of people for profit. When not traipsing about scouting and painting new developments in landscapes, he resides at the academy, where he...also paints. Artwork is his life and he's good at it. His personality reflects this, in every fiber of his being. His gentle outlook on life sees things as others might not, finding good in many things that might be deemed evil. Relaxed and easygoing, Carpédiem's sweet demeanor is nar on feminine, which, if one can get around it, suits him just fine. Not only is Carpédiem artistic and intelligent, he also has a knack for inspiring others around him with helpful suggestions and pointers, and is a decent strategist. He is adamant about not attacking with haste and to plan ahead, know and learn the playing field in the hopes of lessening any losses, possibly for either side though he will deny protecting the enemy. Part of his travels are actually in hopes of finding a safe place the remaining Sekkaiens could go, though persuading the others to come with him might prove to be a challenge. The mans calm demeanor is terribly infectious, and he often tries to stop fights he sees between riders in the wings- and he's quite good at it too. Rank- Horn in the Stormsong Wing Pet(s)- Golden-Eagle, Solas [Male]- Average eagle, large broadwinged bird, hand raised and trained to deliver messages to the academy. The Dragon Name- Celiostiahle [See-lee-oh-stee-ah-lee] [nickname: Celi' (See-Lee)] Age- 24 Gender- Female Element- Glass Appearance- Celiostiahle is a curious matter to behold, and the origins of her coloring may have something to do with the circumstances of her own birth. While the glass egg was fairly large, and there was a very lively shadow beneath the dark red-gold, and blue-violet egg within it, marking what seemed to be a single healthy glass inside. Upon hatching, the egg split evenly, and two dragons were born to the world at the same time- one was large, pale cerulean blue with hints of gold-shine, the other tiny and full of fiery color. As glass dragons have a hard time growing and living in their eggs, the two seemed to have helped each other somehow, and thus, how Celiostiahle looks today. The two kept each other alive, so they say. Her actual body is many shades of pale light to cerulean blues (And every shade between) having amber refraction, but she is not without other colors, for when the light hits her just right, a prismatic gleam erupts across her clear surface scales. Some parts of her body, such as the extremities and thinnest areas are semi-transparent or semi-clear, ( Extremities being her surface scales, few feathers, spines, teeth, talons and wing-sails) but on the whole she is solid. Close up these extremities can be very interesting to look at, but otherwise the prismatic oil-on-water colors mask this much of the time. The effect of her pale-blue and cerulean skin and whole body beneath the clear scales is breathtaking to behold and sparks inspiration in many people. Up close, her scales have a multi-colored refraction on them, like the color seen on soap bubbles, or in oil on water, or even on some Raku pottery. Celiostiahle's eyes are white, though she is not blind. Supposedly, despite being thin and thus clearer than the rest of her body, she claims that she cannot see through her eyelids. Aside from her colors, Celiostiahle's physical attributes are rather lovely as well. Standing as tall as an Earth dragon at the shoulder(About 45 ft), Celi's no small gal- at least, height wise. Despite how tall she is upon her slender, but strong legs, her body is slick, covered in ever so delicate plated scales, and she has an elegant tail and neck, both long and agile. (She's about 145 ft long, proportionately, much of her total length is tail and neck) Her great wings span enough to carry her into the skies with ease, the sails strong but thin enough to be almost as see-through as polished, tinted blue windows. The glossy raku-sheen is most evident here, and upon much, much closer inspection, one can see the thin veins within. Celi does poses some feathering, a few plumes on her cheeks, a soft ruff of them on her ears, and some on the sides of her tail, which frames the glass-sharp spines and blades at the end of said tail. These sharp plates can fold down, so the feathers are not just for looks, they help protect the spines from chipping and becoming dull. Her wings and shoulders have minimal feathering as well, covering only the shoulder and covert area of her wings. She has five digits on her wings, four of which are long and one thumb talon with a very long, sharp claw. Her hands are dexterous, perfect for the arts she enjoys so much. Her crystal lays nestled under/ between one chest scale plate and another, being the same bright blue and white that her rider's is. When she uses her elements, sometimes the crystal glows a bit and this causes her whole body to seem lit with the blue stone. She most often wears a sweet expression on her face, and sometimes hangs nifty chains from her elegantly curving horns. From forehead to the base of her neck (on her back), Celi has the typical spines of most glass dragons. These are long, sharp spines that gradually go from short to long to short, then start up again past the 'saddle' area on her shoulders, again going short to long, and short again down the tail till the last section of her tail 'plume', which has much taller spines once more. She has some slightly thicker spines on her elbows that point outwards a bit – to avoid lacerating herself, and two of these same spines, one on each side of her hind legs at the heel and two slightly lower on each foot. She could, if she wasn't so gentle, give someone such a kick they might never sit down again with these. One side of the tip of her tail has a sharp edge that appears to have been where something broke off. Some say that when she and her brother were born, their tails were connected. There is a hint of firey orange and red and gold in the center of this break- the colors of her brother. He may also have a break line with raku-shine in return. Celiostiahle in a nutshell: Oil on blue Water. Her scales are Multichromatic! ( like this: http://kp-shadowsquirrel.deviantart.com/ar...ose-2-209864881 ) (click maek beeggar) ![]() Personality- Gentle, loving, Creative and Peaceful are some words one might identify with Celiostiahle. She has always felt at one with the world, and delights in everything she sees- especially man made things, from artwork to books to technology. She often watches the building process of things, or watches blacksmiths work metal. It is possible her 'Inspiration' ability aids others around her, though she has no control over who or what and how she inspires. Most recently, with the coming of the Hybrids, Celi has become more active in seeking them out, not to pester, but to watch. Their skills intrigue her to no end. Celiostiahle also has a level of tolerance for both sides of the war, Sekkaien and Tainted alike. Some might call her crazy, but she doesn't fight unless she absolutely must, choosing instead to see the beauty in the darkness. She does not like the taint, to be sure, but they exist and are living creatures, and she believe they have some place in the world. Some time ago, she experienced a time of deep loss and hurt and rage when her twin was tainted, and from then on vowed never to fight him in direct combat. When her anger subsided, and she saw him again, she could see that being tainted had made him something more glorious. Bigger, more equal to her. It seemed strangely fitting, somehow. Celiostiahle has a heart big enough for the world and loves it all, though it is said that whatever dragon manages to catch her eye and become a permanent mate will be a very lucky boy indeed. *** History- Carpédiem Estelle hails from Lihn, where his family still lives. Up til the time when he went to the Academy for further learning, he spent his time at home and traveling around the safe towns and villages for free-lance artistry. About a year or two after coming to the Academy, word came to him that some extended family members had been involved in a devastating taint attack and killed. This painful realization that the war was close on their heels motivated him to apply for candidacy on the sands and try to impress upon a dragon. The young man had no idea that his life was about to change forever, as one by one, every other egg hatched, yet he and another candidate, a bear-like woman the like's he'd never seen before, both had crystals. The confusion was solved at least a half hour later when the egg split with ease, straight down the middles and sides, artistically like an improvised flower. Perhaps the time spent previous to the twins emerging was a discussion on who would emerge first. They had settled on the same time and as such, share the same birth-time. The real surprise was inside, not one, but two Glass dragons, one of the two hardly bigger than a newborn rosemary and not immediately obvious. The ends of their tails were connected, but this only lasted for a few minutes after hatching. They knew who was Theirs, and soon they had to part ways. With a tiny crack, their tails broke away from each other with no lasting damage to either, just a little remnant of their twin within the breaks. After hatching, while Carpédiem and Clayre weren't exactly friends, for they were just too different, their bonded dragons kept them fairly close at hand pretty often. Celiostiahle and Caelestis did most everything together for the entirety of their younger years. Sharing a wing, their riders sort of had to deal with each other by day. At the request of both, a divider was made and strung up in the middle of their living quarters so that there might be some privacy at night, though Celiostiahle often ended up with the little Caelestis in her nest. He wasn't big, or strong, but he was cleverer than a lot of the big dragons and Celi could not have been more proud of him. But peace and happiness was not to last for their wing-partners, for they were struck down in their prime, ten years after bonding. The two were driven away when Caelestis returned from a scouting trip, his crystal crushed. Because of the deep bond shared by twins, Celiostiahle was devastated and driven to hysterics for some time. For over a year, the two, after being quietly moved to a solitary, quiet section of the wing, went mostly unseen. At least, no one saw Celi. Many watched with sadness as Carpédiem came and went, and healers often stopped by to check on the depressed dragon. While she had suppressed the urge to rise for much of her life so far, Celi was urged to at least go to the hatching, as it might bring her the joy she needed. Dull as milky, cloudy water, no shine to her scales, the Glass dragon made her way to the sands, if only to watch. The new lives sparked a tiny flame in her, which burned through every nerve and vein to her mind, awaking her from her near catatonic state. Joy returned to the dragon, after so long. Inspiration blossomed like a flower in her heart, and somehow, she had come to terms with the dreadful loss and rose to meet it. They could take their land, their lives, even their minds and souls- but the taint could not take away hope if there was even a fragment somewhere, the light would go on. Knowing what they must do, the Glass dragon and her partner requested to be sent out as spies and scouts, to perhaps replace the loss of Caelestis, but also to live on in his name. Carpédiem was able to find his true calling, and from high up above the land, he and Celi' worked together to draw up maps and sketches of the land they saw, or events. When the days are cloudy and they can get away with it, they even dare to scout over enemy lines, never close enough to see true details other than landmass, or even individual dragons much of the time. From coast to coast, the pair has traveled every known area- except the very heart of desolation, which....would be impossible. Rather than always risk their lives, the two have also gone on some attempts at finding more land that the academy could use, and some time ago ran across an island. This place was well out of the way, but was as far as Celi could safely take Carpédiem, though they did try to fly farther, stiffness and hunger and thirst eventually won over the rider, and they were forced to turn back. Celiostiahle probably could have kept on going, but her rider would not have made it to whatever lands she reached. They have spent almost the entire latter part of their lives on the wing, and because of how far they often get, they bring with them on every trip a well trained golden-eagle, trained to return to the academy with carefully concealed and folded maps and other letters of their findings. Somehow the pair avoided the worst end of the nasty affliction the Influenza's were causing for both sides. While The pair, almost eleven years ago now, suffered sickness and pain, Celiostiahle seems to have kept her fertility. Recently, the two have returned to the Academy once again to rest from their journeys, and to once again become familiar with the people there again. Carpédiem often passes the time making jewelry from shed scales of his dragon, or trading them for things he needs. Because of his...direct source to them, the two are well off. Usually though, he gives to those less fortunate and helps supply his family back home with funds. He enjoys a comfortable lifestyle, but never lets it go to his head- Celi wouldn't let him get lazy. She too, gives her scales to those in need, especially displaced and homeless wanderers she meets on her travels. She believes the simple tokens of her kindness benefit not only the uplifted spirits of people, but can inspire them to get up and do something with their lives... *** User Information Username- Senaru Contact- PM for msn Yourself- Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam How did you find Sekkai? Just gotta talk with balu on a few things for this one, but in the mean time, some additions to the rider's personality and apperance would be good. The dragon seems flushed out, but the rider not so much. I'd like some equality on them before I do anything else. Also, did I miss something in the history that would explain the differences between the ages? Or is that a typo? The rider should always be older than the dragon, after all. (As candidates are 13-22ish before a dragon has even hatched). Then the coloring, which I'll speak with you on msn about and again bring up with balu. |
