I was told to head over here, so here I am! :D To start, I don't know that there are any of the dragon breeds I expressly dislike... I think it'd mostly depend on the personality of the baby. Going simply by traits, and if I had to pick something, I'd probably go with Mycotic, Ice, Crystal, and Glass, just for the way they look. Off hand their appearance, generally in terms of available colors, doesn't really tickle my fancy, though I'm sure there's bound to be some that completely break the rule on that.

Now, to favorites! These aren't really listed in any definitive order, to be perfectly honest, though I'll try to avoid listing ALL THE DRAGONS and just go with the ones I really especially like.

Sekkaian

  • Forest: Druid dragon yesplz. With badass looking antlers and colored like an American Kestrel, even though I know forests are usually greenish in hue. Or maybe one that mimics a bioluminescent plant... AND it's poisonous/venomous.
  • Water: I kind of have a thing for seamonsters, especially ones with bioluminescent markings. All long and sleek and serpentine and gorgeous.
  • Lava: Giant lava-spewing forces of nature. And they GLOW.
  • Celestial: Fairly self-explanatory, I think. They're stunningly gorgeous creatures, and I really kind of love that males have that big showy feathery crest.
  • Chaos: Bit torn on this one, honestly. I absolutely love the way that they look, but I'm kinda iffy on their powers.

Tainted

  • Abyssal: Because of the aforementioned seamonster love.
  • Ruin: Creepy miasma dragons. I have an old character that I could totally modify into a badass Ruin dragon, except he's... he's a really not nice person. To the extreme.
  • Bulkhead: Giant lava-spewing forces of nature with EXTRA LEGS. THEY'RE ALMOST LIKE QUOLS I love critters with extra legs. AND they glow!
  • Toxic: I mentioned I like bioluminescent critters, right? These guys are almost biomechanical bioluminescent critters on top of that, what with the creepy glowy acid tubes.
  • Influenza: I really just love playing evil bastards, and when you're so evil that the bad guys don't even trust you, you are truly a badass. They're like undead cesspits of putrid decay and agony. They're really kind of awesome.

Sekkian

Fire - The traditional dragon, how could it not be a favorite? Kickass fire-breathers that are easy for me to picture there dragons are just fantastic. <3

Sonic - Sound powers. Dragons with the build of bulls that can create beautiful sounds or horrific ear pain, these ones are terrifying and glorious at the same time.

Rosemary - Little medic dragons!

Gravity - They remind me of The Doctor, Dekka Talent, and the universe all rolled into one dragon. All fantastic things creating one amazing dragon.

Glass - Glass warping dragons! These guys just strike me as beautiful, delicate, graceful, like little artists of dragons. Plus there is just so much potential for fights with their powers, I imagine that imaginations can truly run wild with them.

Chaos - I'm not sure why, I just really like these guys.

Tainted

Bone - They have so much potential for plots, backstory, and abilities that they are a blast to work with.

Abyssal - SEAMONSTER HO! These are probably one of my two favorite taints, along with Influenza, if not my top favorite. Demons of the sea that can range from the things or nightmares to not-so-scary clumsy dragon-slug-sausages. <3

Disruption - They will mess you up.

Bulkhead - Giant beasts of terror and death that people run at the sight of. They remind me a bit of the creatures from that episode of Doctor Who when they go to Pompeii, plus there are so many directions to go with them. Not to mention that even if a Bulkhead broke away from the taint after Nidhogg's downfall I imagine it might not go over too well, as Bulkheads aren't exactly known for sweet, docile, or nice behavior.

Influenza - Chemical warfare dragons!? Oh man, do not get me started on these guys. They are absolutely terrifying and insidious while being tiny, delicate, and fragile-looking at the same time. And how they originally came from Rosemarys? Now that is a blast of irony, although the idea that a healer can become one of these is rather frightening.

Okay... Favorite dragon breeds... Hmm... I pretty much like them all, but I'll put the metaphoric gun to my head and do a process of elimination.

Sekkain Breeds

Water - Ever since listening to Bruce Lee's quote on "water" as a kid, I've had a fascination with the element. Thus I find the dragons with this trait very appealing.

Sonic - Normally when you think of brute combat, there's a image of a visible weapon or attack. The use of sound waves as a sort of invisible, but highly effective weapon is a little uncommon and just too cool not to love

Rosemary - I have a bit of a soft spot for any type of character/creature that exhibits a healing trait. Also it helps that the rosemaries are cute compact versions of dragons.

Ice - Again, going back to the whole water thing. However, this is like the rockin' metal version of that! -throws up devil horns-

Crystal - Ok, I like shiney objects. Moving on. >>

Glass - The idea that dragon can be a master craftsman of molten glass is just... OMGSOAWESOMEICANT

Tainted Breeds

Abyssal - These primordial messes are so awesome! They're just grotesque in that cool way, ya know?

Razor - Awww yeah, these little ass kickers! Small but deadly, not to be underestimated!

Dream - Insects with mind manipulation skills. 'Nuff said.

UPDATE!

Adding those masked fiends the Ruins on this list thanks to a recent conversation I had with Goth over Skype. The the idea of the skull like plate mask adds a layer of wickedness and anonymity to them. A bit of mystery that goes a long way.

And adding only one kind to a least favorite category. That would be Disruption, and only because of the no eyes thing. I've just always been a little creeped out by the idea of creatures with no eyes. Still, by no means do I deplore these guys. They still have cool abilities, I'm just a little put off by no eyes.

Hey guys! I'm bumping this up once again in time for the Hatching. If you're brand new to Sekkai, or if you've been around for a bit and have not yet experienced how we conduct hatching events, it would be within your best interests to make a post here stating what you do and don't like as far as breeds go. You are not guaranteed a particular breed by posting here, but we do pay attention. @u@ We do our utmost in matching candidates to what their player will enjoy.

Senior members are welcomed and encouraged to update their favorites/dislikes as well. c:

I can honestly say I don't have a favorite or any breed I dislike. I like them all for each has a different aspect that draws attention to them.

I like most of the dragon breeds on here because of the flexibility they permit, rather than staunchly adhering to potentially bland standards. I do have favourites amongst the breeds though, so I suppose I'll list two of each, two Sekkain and two Tainted breeds.

Sekkain Breeds:

Forest dragons are a personal favourite of mine for several reasons. First and foremost, they're the most... nature-y sort of dragon, I suppose you could say? Pretty obvious, I guess, though the reason I like this about them is because nature is something I like to think about when I'm feeling down. The verdant life of nature is really refreshing and never fails to bring a smile to my face. Whenever I'm feeling stressed, a densely wooded forest brimming with life is the first thing that comes to mind and in no time, I feel calm again.

The fact that they're pretty small for dragons is also really cool to me because size doesn't always equate to incredible strength. I like to think that Forest dragons can be downright vicious combatants, even without huge amounts of bulk. The fact that they're venomous and can make use of chlorokinesis is also a huge plus.

Air dragons are also interesting. I mean, sure. Dragons can already fly. But there's so much more to air manipulation than simple flight. They can manipulate air pressure for multiple purposes, be it to injure foes with highly pressurized swaths of air, or to deprive an environment of air, it can be used in a multitude of ways in combat. They could also make for excellent spies or assassins, as they could cause someone to suffocate without leaving any physical traces behind!

However, air manipulation can also be an incredible tool in and of itself, as the Air dragon can ensure that they and their rider (and any other allies) can breathe, which is helpful underwater, at high altitudes, for those with breathing problems, et cetera. Additionally, they can easily be the best of fliers, because not only are they lightweight and winged, but they have the power of the wind to guide them! Very cool.

Bonus: Chaos dragons are so so cool looking!! Like, not necessarily physically, but the ability to manipulate probability and the very laws of physics themselves? That has got to be fun to play with.

I also like Water and Rosemary dragons, though they would definitely be something of a learning curve for me. It would take a bit of time and practice to see how I could creatively play with them. (I actually love Water dragons because I really love marine biology and I was tempted to go into ichthyology so I could study sharks, so! It would really just be a matter of getting ~creative~)

Tainted Breeds:

Ruin dragons are appealing for similar reasons as Air dragons; they're just inherently a lot more sinister. Making use of their element to cause corrosion is brilliant! Really weaponizing the air, haha. Their appearances are also really intriguing because of the whole ethereal quality they have to them! The masks remind me of barn owls and if you just think about it, how fun would these dragons even be to draw? The fact that they have difficulty maintaining a corporeal form as they age is a nice touch, as is the sugar fixation and how it affects oxidation. Very nice.

Razor dragons also look like they'd be a ton of fun to play with! My capacity to ramble at length is dwindling at the moment, but. Imagine it. A Razor with a curious, social disposition that wants to be friendly, but they have to maintain the whole 'I could kill you with a look' demeanour. And well, all of the sharp pointy edges. It takes the hedgehog's dilemma to the next level, haha!

Bonus: Dream dragons just, wow dang. I love love love characters who specialize in psychological manipulation. At first, they seem almost harmless, what with the bunches of squishy legs and shiny orbs. But then, you think about them some more, and their powers are incredibly insidious in nature. I think they're actually close to being my favourite out of all of the breeds. And the whole aura of empathy they give off? Their ability to actually influence dreams? The fact that their orbs can be used for scrying into time itself and they're also metaphorical Achilles' heels? I'm swooning here, wow.

Curse the fiends, their children too...
I always feel self conscious about these things.

Sekkian Breeds:

Metal: I love swords, daggers, and other various weapons. Of course these appeal to me. Looping horns, weaponized everythings, and a means to manipulate all metals, not just their element, make them particularly appealing. As always, everything awesome is likely made more awesome with glass/chaos parentage. I'd love to see how ridiculous one of these could get.

Chaos: These are my favorite of favorites. Their completely random abilities, from being produced by any clutch/producing any egg possible, to being able to alter probability? Glowing runes...and a near limitless possibility for appearance given the wide variety of parent possibilities? (and they're smaller, hnng)

Air: Air dragons are a bit of a pickle for me. I'm not fond of birds. I can name a few that I like off the top of my head, but beaks and feathers have never really been a thing I enjoy. I think this partly stems from an artistic aspect. Feathers are difficult for me to render in full, but I do love them as an accent. That being said, I absolutely love the abilities that an airs possess and I would love any and all excuses to manipulate their breed appearance. I am always fond of multiple limbs on creatures and I'm sure a dash of chaos could make something utterly ridiculous (B-2 Stealth Air, anyone?)

Sonic - These are one of the breeds that drew me to the site. I really like smaller dragons, and these guys are squat, colorful, and uniquely noisy in both color and ability. Aside from the pipes and spikes they possess I'm very much intrigued by their ability to nullify sound the most, and would love to see one that that specialized primarily in its absence...maybe a Taint that produces white noise....hmmm *muses* Maybe a subwoofer dragum...wubwubwub. The possiblities are endless.

Glass: ulimate creative possibilities....with a chance of being the size of a rosemary? *swoon* Pretty sure Glass is the flashiest of my favorites.

Gravity: Fabulous, subtle powered space dragons. I want 10. - Saturnalia is fabulous and i love her to pieces <3

Tainted Breeds:

Ruin: More subtle abilities, unless you're metal, then you're boned. Their obcession with sweets makes them endearing ghostly murdermachines and I love the variety possible with the masks that they possess.

Razor Sharp. <3

Toxic: Acid spewing sex panthers. That's all that needs saying.

Disruption: hey look, chaos berbers! Sign me up. I have a bias towards the ladies, but that's a given because they're smaller.

Dream: There's basically no reason to put this here since to my knowledge, they are utterly unobtainable (and I feel like listing them in the rare breeds is unnecessary), but mental abilities have always been my favorite. Illusions, misdirection, hallucinations.Doesn't matter how it's done. My years of playing Mage: The Awakening make these a quintessential favorite, but forever out of reach.

Breeds that I really just...can't.

Abyssals: It would take a special kind of abyssal baby to get me to be more excited about them, for the most part I'll adore them from afar for the squishy beasts they are.

Influenza: take everything that I love about rosemary dragons and toss it in the nearest compost pile. Conniving, monsterous and self centered beasts that all have the sickly appearance of crawling out of a greasy zombie flick. I just...can't. I very much doubt that I could roleplay one well, and the amount of putrid is just too much for me. Nevermind that I'm not the best with medical thingers, so the creativity that one might expect with an influenza, would probably be a waste on me.

Mycotic: Now I just sound picky, I guess. I just don't like gross, but from the breed description on its own they seem to encompass a very narrow color range and there are definitely more unique fungi out there. blue/green elfcup, blue turkeytail, Entoloma hochstetteri, amethyst deceiver, parrot waxcap...there's a huge list of really fancy fungi and interesting color combinations and I'm only naming a handful. Coupled with their multiple origins, the possibility of another flightless dragon, and the dangers of the spores for riding it makes them feel more like solo creations that just don't tickle my fancy.

Earth I know, I have one. Their abilities are useful, but my dislike for being unable to fly just defeats the purpose of a dragon for me. I will admire from afar and cherish the one I made regardless.

Dream Dragon?

Chaos baby with Glass and Gravity parentage. It'll never happen, but I can absolutely dream a little. u O u

I GOT A JAR OF DIRT, I GOT A JAR OF DIRT, I GOT A JAR OF DIRT,
*editted to be more clear and I understand these are simply a bounceboard of ideas to help ya during Hatching prep n the like ^^.

<3Breeds I like<3

Sekkain breeds:

Fire: Because a living flamethrower is awesome, and the designs ROCK

Air: prettypretty birbdergs~

Gravity: slinky panther snake of dragons >w<

Ice: I see the info on these things and Snow Miser starts singing in my head...with Hyourinmaru's face...weird combo.

Forests: For similar reasons as loving the Toxic's these lil potential sneaky threats are pretty awesome to me.

Sonics: these guys really remond me of Thunderdrum dragons from How to train your dragon...only more awesome!

Metal: giant shiny tank of a dragon that can hock cooled metal that works like molten? that is actually cool as hell! As far as subbreeds go Copper holds the most interest fer me

Glass/Karma/Crystal/Celestial: I love the inventiveness that comes with these breeds but I understand the likelihood of me making the right sort of person fer one is likely a shot in the dark XD.

Lightning: I AM THE THUNDERER! mostly like these guys fer the idea of they could be a prankish critter n give someone the absolute MOTHER of all static zots to wake their rider XD

Earth: Being able to move mountains is actually rather badass

Tainted breeds:

Abyssals: the odd leech-dergs kinda grew on me tbh heh

Disruption: its a motherloving Xenomorph dragon with badace voodoo, whats NOT to love? XD

Ruin: these things are cool all around honestly

Toxic: I can't read about these things and not think about the venom spitting dino from Jurassic Park ahhh memories...

Razor: IMMA CUT YOU! lol but really these things sound like the twitchy knife happy jeff the killer wannabe of the site XD And an oxidized copper Razor sounds neat

Note: out of the sub breeds of metal/Razor dragon the copper variant sounds like it could be the most interesting colorwise to me.

Influenza- I may still squick out at getting sick in rl, but if a special sort of Influ came along, thanks to exposure to the breed from reading up on the site n seeing some in action I could potentially love the breed.

Arcane: I don't like the breed simply because they are shiny and new, but because Nim put sooooo much heart into making them to really make something awesome that rose up out of the old Bulkhead breed.

Mycotic: While it feels like it's just a bit too far outta the comfort zone trying to comprehend a walking shroom spore factory as I see the Mycotics. the concept was invigoratingly unique enough for me to give em a chance. Thusly, despite me easily being made mold spores beetch if it gets in my respiratory system, if the perf dragon for me from you lot happens to be a Mycotic I would show my appreciation by playing it as well as I can. Of course the idea that the things could Bioluminesce would be interesting too.

~Breeds I'm not fond of~

Lava: more due to the accidental potential to OP these things than anything else now that I've thought on it awhile.

Dream dragon ideas:

As far as Dream Mutt dragons go: either a Razor/Air for the blade feathers or perhaps a Glass/Forest to see how inventive that would look. If they even worked out anyway

Pure breed dreams include most of the Faves listed above but in particular as far as particulars though...

Razor/Ruin for a future Tainted Candidate if I got lucky, still be cool with anything flung my way

As far as Sekkain Candidates: have at me

Sekkian Breeds:

Favorites:

Gravity dragons are without a doubt one of my favorite breeds. I absolutely adore their powers and think their designs are nothing short of fantastic. They look like they would be an absolute blast to play. Not to mention the whole outer space motif they have going on. I absolutely love space and all that it entails. All in all these little guys are absolutely irresistible.

Chaos dragons are one of my favorite breeds on the site and potentially a competitor for my favorite breed over all. I love their abilities and their physical designs alike. Also? Laser beam breath. I can picture these guys being anything from graceful and majestic to big hammy superhero wannabes.

Fires are the traditional western dragon and just hold a special place in my heart. Also, fire, you've gotta have fire.

Water dragons are awesome sea-noodles who can be anything from adorable little guys to terrifying eldrich beasts. Alright, so I haven't actually seen a terrifying eldrich beast water yet but I can picture it! Furthermore I've always had a love of sea-dwelling dragons of all sorts.

Lava dragons just seem like epic dragons all around. Not only do I adore their physical design but they spit lava for crying out loud! Battledragons made of combined fire and rock yes.

Crystals are without a doubt absolutely fantastic and another of my over-all favorites. For one thing their physical designs are nothing less than gorgeous. Then there's the matter of their abilities. It's fighting with science and not necessarily destroying, just changing! Not only it it a creative concept but the abilities themselves must give the player quite a bit of creative freedom. There's also the matter of color manipulation. Okay, maybe not the first thing that would come into mind but the fact of the matter is that crystals come in all sorts of colors. Some subtle molecule manipulation could lead to changes in color for stone, stand, and all sorts of crystal material. Just imagine a little dragon hideaway filled with all those stones and colors!

I'm not entirely sure why I like Glass dragons but the fact remains that they also make the list. Not only do their abilities have some overlap with crystals, namely in the potential for creation and colors. Then there's also their body type. They are tiny delicate dragons and I will admit that that warms my heart.

Between favorite and disliked I will admit that I have a love-hate relationship with Sonics. I really like their powers but am admittedly not a big fan of their physical build, or at least their traditional build. The whole bulldog dragon image I get just doesn't work for me in their case.

Least Favorite:

Earth dragons are just a breed I'm not particularly fond of. I don't really like their abilities nor am I too fond of their coloring and truly massive size. Those three things combined just make me feel kind of... meh.

Although I am not entirely sure why I don't really like the Ice breed that much. I'm not sure if it's the powers or a physical aspect but they just don't get me too excited.

Tainted Breeds:

Influenzas always have been and probably always will be one of my favorite tainted breeds. There's just something about tiny disease-bearing dragons that makes me grin. They may be tiny and hated but if they sat their minds to it they can bring about destruction on an absolutely massive scale.

Similarly I absolutely adore Abyssals. There's always been something about water-dwelling dragons that appeals to me greatly, and abyssals have that sea monster aspect that waters lack.

I'm not entirely sure why I like Bones. I more or less just looked at them, their powers, and their design potential and said 'yes, I like this.'

Despite not being too fond of earths and the average sonic build I can't help but like Disruptions. I like their plated design and think their powers are to die for. What can I say? I have a soft spot for echolocation, shock waves, and time and gravity disruption. Also. Earthquakes. Horrible vibrating earthquakes of doom!

Ruins will never not make me make excited squeaking noises. Not only are their designs gorgeous, their powers inventive and appearing to be fun to play, but there's also something tragic about them. Maybe it's the slowly turning to gas before eventually blowing away. One could even say it's their own powers that ruin them. Puns aside, they seem like they must be a lot of fun to write.

Razors are needlecats.

Arcane dragons may be new but they've clearly had a lot of work put into them and seem to be absolutely oozing with potential. Their powers are devastating, their design both pretty and a tad eerie, and I can't wait to see them in play. As much as I like bulkheads I am certain they were given a worthy successor.

Least Favorite

I really don't like Mycotics. I'm not trying to insult those that do enjoy them but really the whole mold, spores, and fungus thing has an uncomfortable way of crawling under my skin. Granted these dragons aren't meant to be particularly pleasant but in my case it seems that the job may have been done a little too well. They just make me very uncomfortable all in all.
