I GOT A JAR OF DIRT, I GOT A JAR OF DIRT, I GOT A JAR OF DIRT,
somewhat major tweak to make my list a bit clearer ^^

New to the place and all, was informed that I should put up a list of Favored/Un-Favored dragons.

To preface this, I'm more inclined to play as a DRAGON than human, know you guys do riders and such like that as part of a character but I'd feel more comfortable with another player acting as a Rider..two minds and such like that...just my own personal preference XD

Favored List of Sekkian

  • Lava: This is put first and foremost due to it being my main draw to the place; saw the name first, description next and got extremely excited. These types of dragons are favored the most due to nature, the molten ideal, solid and prone only to slow change but with a pull to fiery, passionate moments or subdued, placid periods of time. I quite identify with this type of dragon not only for their solid build but for the mind behind the bulk; the personality that someone wouldn't expect from something that looks so rough or more likely to vomit molten rock on something than have an intelligent conversation.

  • Fire: Much in the same with Lava, I have several years experience playing as a non-typical "Fire" dragon who was a mutant. Anderi is one of my lasting characters who I've enjoyed playing on repeat occasions for the many people he's been able to meet and converse with after the initial fear response to his presence has passed.

  • Earth: This, obviously, can go hand-in-hand with being interested in the Lava species of the breeds, while not prone to 'fiery passion', these dragons are reliably played due to an understanding of the more subdued mind, the slower and more drawn out thought and contemplation that gives the appearance of being 'slow' while still being capable of action that defies what people might think of as unwieldy bulk.

  • Air: Surprisingly, another concept I grasp fairly well despite my mentions insofar. Once again, an interesting breed that gives a unique duality in the ability go from the 'gentle and free' to the 'raging storm' at a moment's notice and dealing with such changes in temper, much like Fire and Lava might also be prone to. It is quite a fun aspect to be, keeping a sort of free-mind and I suppose having that type of "flighty" nature might be best played when I'm having severe moments of ADHDOhLookAShiny syndrome.

Un-Favored List of Sekkian

Preeeeeeety much all the rest of the dragons in the Sekkian list disinterest me either not being able to present an appropriate mindset or just flat out finding no desire to try to force a concept into place that I wouldn't feel comfortable attempting.

Favored List of Tainted

  • Non-Mutated Tainted: While not my most favored mindset, I can do extreme inversion quite well; the bad side of crazy, destructive, reveling in bloodshed and carnage is something that even 'normal' dragons might struggle with, being Tainted one would hazard a guess that the struggle is non-existent. As I've read through the other mutations, I find that there's just no substitute for good ol' Fire dragon out on a rampage and demolishing everything in the wake just for the sake of destruction.

  • Ruin: Going with the basics here, mainly due to a lack of interest in most other Tainted. Essentially all reasons above, plus the fact that this is effectively a roving cloud of destruction waiting to happen. The oxidation breath is a rather nice touch, though I can only start to imagine the increased amount of "I'm gonna blow everything away" mentality as well as the possible shifting and conniving that might be done to gain better standing.

Un-Favored List of Tainted

Might shaft me a little in playing much of anything but I, again, am rather disinterested in other breeds of the Tainted either due to not being able to apply a sufficient (even insane) mindset for the types of creatures presented.

Favorite Sekkian breeds:

Sonic - I love my Decibel, and also pretty much every Sonic I've ever seen. I love their curly horns and thinking about all the different ways their body could be made to make sound. Like - like, the thought just popped into my head, but what about percussive noise? I don't think I've seen anybody do that, has anybody done that? Clapping wings really hard mid-air, or stomping really hard on the ground and amplifying the resulting soundwave to stagger and disrupt the flight or stance of an enemy! And I love how the breed more than most can be used to explore the negation of the chosen element as well. You can use a sonic to deaden sound and become stealthy, or disrupt communication to cause confusion among an enemy. I'd love to see a sonic styled after an owl, who deadens sound in order to better pick up other sounds. SO MANY IDEAS.

Rosemary - I love how wee and little they are compared to other dragons. I think it makes the interaction with humans a lot easier. I'd love to play one someday; I just haven't thought up a good character for one. But all of the ones I've seen in play are really cool! And they're so varied, physically and in personality. And.... they lick you. I mean, that's not all they can do, and not the only way to play them or for them to heal buuuuuut...... LICKS. Healing drool and knockout dandruff!

Metal - preeeeeettyyyyyyyyyy I mean there's more to them than that of course but I mean come on. THE SHINIES. And the ability to manipulate metal. I really really want to play one who is buddies with a Fire or Lava and they partner to forge dragon-sized armor and weapons together, one working the forge and the other working the heated metal. DRAGONFORGED ARMOR. FORGED BY DRAGONS. A smith dragon. How awesome would that be??? I'm thinking very. Plus the older they get the more cool things you can do with tarnishing and patina on the scales.

Chaos - Maaaaaaan I love their element abilities. I love the idea of a teenage gangly-legged chaos still trying to figure out how to work things, and always accidentally affecting things and making itself trip over things and storing up all kinds of bad luck, only to release it as improbably good luck when necessary, such as in a fight. I can just picture it tripping and lurching around a battlefield stumbling into an accidental victory like a Rube Goldberg machine of destruction.

Lightning - I confess to being super shallow with this breed. They just look SO COOL. The antlers and the colors and their svelte forms.

Earth - Biiiiiiiiiig. I know I talked about loving the wee little Rosemaries, and I do! But the big hulking Earths are super impressive, and I love the 'gentle giant' aspect that you can get with them. Plus, Earths can have some of the greatest impact on the battlefield. Given even a tiny head start, a couple Earths can raise walls, pillars, domes, and structures to hamper enemy movements and bottleneck them into a desired area. They're excellent for counterattacks, too. Are your forces threatened by a flood of water or lava? Nah, the Earths will direct that flow elsewhere. Forests making plant growth go wild? Bet those plants will have trouble growing through ROCK SPIT. Is there a Disruption settling in to wreak havoc? Golly, it's a good thing you have somebody on your side who can FLING THE EARTH out from under them! Plus, in peacetime, who better to build things? A small team of Earths could put up otherwise impossibly huge walls and bridges and buildings. Working together with Water dragons, they could erect huge dams and aqueducts. They could terrace mountainsides for food and pave roads across the continent. If you must do some overland travel, how better than to go with an Earth, who can erect sturdy, comfortable structures for the night and smooth them back away in the morning. Earth dragons are the fighters AND the builders, and I love them for that.

Favorite Tainted Breeds:

Razor - So pretty and sharp! I love love love everything about them. I love that you literally cannot touch them without getting cut. They are living weapons! I love all of the spikes and sharp edges that can catch the light. I love the outsized wings and tail, and the incredible speed and agility. As with Rosemaries, I think the size is ideal for interacting with humans, and perfect to be a little buzzing sharp nuisance around the heads of bigger dragons. I wanna make a wee faaaaat one like a little hedgehog :3 Or a horrible porcupine of death. The personality could vary anywhere from an unpleasant little beastie with a tongue as sharp as its wings, to a syrupy-sweet, dangerously-cuddly love who only wants to get close to you (and cut you to ribbons). Razors are far and away my favorite tainted breed!

Dream (Nightmare) - Sooooooooo many legs. I love the concept of the potential for great good being used for great evil. It makes the resulting terribleness all the more terrible than something designed for evil being used to fulfill its purpose. I also love the long wiggly wormy shape of it, with allllllll thooooooose leeeeeeegs. More legs = creepier, in my book anyway. Also sticky toes are creepy and gross, I don't care WHAT gecko-lovers say. And two mouths, one for eating, one for talking? Both filled with hundreds of tiny, needle-sharp teeth? *shudder*

Influenza - Mad scientist anyone? I love the idea of an Influenza striving to create the perfect disease, who sees humans and such as mobile petri dishes within which to incubate and disseminate different experimental strains. Also, as with the Dream, the more legs, the creepier! I love their tiny horrible little extra hands.

Breeds that are kinda Meh:

Waters (and Abyssals) - While the long snakey bodies are cool, I just don't get much inspiration for these guys. Maybe if I wasn't playing in mostly landlocked areas, and had more coastal stuff going on.

Fires - So similar to the classic fantasy rawrdragons of every legend and fairy tail ever. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but why would I want to play that when I could play something uniquely Sekkian?

Gravity - Eh. I don't really get their power. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to use it or write about it effectively without it being overpowered. I love the way they look, though. And I will admit to being amused at the idea of a pouty wyrmling Gravity throwing a stubborn fit and increasing his own personal gravity such that he becomes impossible to move.

Karmas and Celestials - again, as with Gravities, they're just too powerful for my tastes. I'm glad that they exist, but I personally don't want to play them.

Mycotic - Eh. They just seem gross to me, and not gross with a purpose, like Influenzas. Just generally, needlessly gross.

My Dream Dragon:

I can't really narrow it down to just one, since I love so many different things about so many different breeds, and for different reasons. I guess if I were to talk about dragons I'll probably never get to play, I would talk about a Dream dragon that is young and impressionable, and doesn't understand her own power. And when she's happy, she MAKES everyone else happy (whether they want to be or not), completely accidentally and involuntarily. And when she's unhappy, that unhappiness also affects those around her within a specific radius. And she wouldn't understand why she can't just MAKE everybody be happy all the time. She would be a pearly, dusty white with shining, opalescent white pearls and beautiful, hypnotic eyes. the larger set would be white and opalescent like her pearls; the smaller would be rich cobalt. She would be dainty and delicate and somewhat unnerving. If possible, until she grows too big, she would prefer to wrap herself around the neck of a larger, older dragon like a scarf. This dragon would be her protector, and also would bear the brunt of her emotional manipulation through sheer proximity, probably without either of them being aware. She would be shy around strangers, and mainly communicate by whispering into the bigger dragon's ear, and leaving it up to them to pass on the message. She would not understand that it is rude to stare.

I also think it would be really fun if Ami ended up bonding to a Razor (even though I know that's almost certainly not going to happen). It would be love at first sight, because the Razor would remind her of her favorite knife. Except now, she would have a new favorite knife! I imagine her spending hours each day sharpening her new best friend's many blades, and keeping them shiny and pretty. The Razor would be as tiny and surprisingly deadly as she is, and would also delight in cutting things. They could bond over the best way to flay a carcass! I see the Razor being the type of sweet, loving, cuddly creature that just wants a hug (and to cut you to pieces).

Also, I would love to see a cross between a Lightning and a Metal. Maximum Zappage! A Rosemary/Water dragon would be gorgeous, and I think whatever healing water powers it ended up with would be really cool. I also think that a Rosemary/Earth dragon would end up being really interesting! The size difference alone is enough to make the resulting mix an intriguing surprise, and who knows what kind of abilities it would have!

With our planning for the upcoming Tainted Hatching officially under way, we would like you guys to post your favorite and least favorite breeds in this thread. While these lists are in no way a guarantee that you will get something in particular, we do keep tabs on them and try to match your character with something you will like. If you have never posted in this thread before, now would be a great time to do so!

Please write a little reply mentioning something along the lines of "Updated on Page #!" if you are simply updating so we can easily go back and amend the lists we have in the staff board. :3

Favorite Sekkian
  • Chaos - A dragon that makes everything go wrong around them? Honestly there could not be a more awesome concept and dragon for plot potential, and it will forever be my #1 favorite dragon breed of all time. I just hope one day I am lucky enough to get one. (I can dream lol)

Celestial/Karma - Sun and Moon dragons, I like the Karma a bit better but a bright celestial is awesome as well.

    Glass/Crystal - Glitter, sparkly magnificence!

Gravity - I can just imagine one of these making everything around them float in midair, just to throw everyone off balance and to cause a bit of trouble.

Sonic - They all seem so adorable! I love their hollow horns that look like instruments.
Favorite Tainted
  • Ruin - These are one of the most interesting dragons I have seen in a long while, with bodies that slowly turn to vapors except the unique mask. I just want to know what is under the mask, if there is anything. And its terrifying that a dragon can get into any space that will fit the mask...

Disruption - Echolocation sounds like a fun concept for any dragon breed.

Bulkhead - While I know there will be no more, that doesn’t change that I have grown to love the breed thanks to a certain Toa.

Arcane - Little on the fence with this one, as its such a new breed, but the concept of them is really cool and I'm interested to see how they develop.
Least Favorite though just on the breed PoV, not individual dragons of the breeds.
  • Air - They... don't seem all that special, to be brutally honest. Most dragon breeds can fly, and even the grounded breeds can sometimes fly. I don't really see what makes them uniquely special, apart from the individual personalities, which I admit can be awesome.

Rosemary - Healer dragons are nice and they are all very pretty, but for me personally I prefer dragons that can rush into a fight, instead of hanging back to heal the wounded. While that's important, its not a concept that holds my interest.

Mycotic/Influenza - These are more of an aesthetic dislike, I'm not entirely sure I could get into a dragon of mushroom and fungus and disease.

Abyssal - These are an odd one for me, as I am not sure why I dislike them. Something just makes me not to interested in them as a breed.

Side note: I am terrible at keeping muse for female characters, which includes female dragons...

Mostly in order from favorite to least favorite. They're all just so different that all my favs are mostly at the same level. It really depends on the specifics for me. However, I'll try to explain what I like and why I don't like from the generic description of the breeds.

Sekkain:
+ Lava: Glowing golems that can fly. They are everything I love about earth dragons, made better. What else is there to say? These guys are great. And did I mention they glow? OwO
+ Gravity: graceful and swivel-eared, these are like the water dragons of the sky. I think it would be hard to play their powers, but challenges are nice, and I love to think of them floating along in the night sky like traveling constellations. Their spines sound awesome too— ahg. There is just nothing not to love about this dragon.
+ Karma: pretty in a similar way to celestials, with their own unique flair. Everything about their appearance is beautiful and well thought out. Plus, they're nocturnal. Pretty nocturnal dragons pestering their riders while they sleep <3. Their healing mist is a pretty cool thing, and their link to the moon makes me love them especially much, since I've always loved the moon and its cycles. If celestials are dragons of the sun, these are dragons of the moon, and I… I… I'll stop ranting now.
+ Earth: At first, I didn't much like these guys. I was really bothered by the no-flying thing, and I didn't yet have any love for bulky dragons. Now, though, I really admire these stubby mountain dragons with their rough edges and earthy tones. They're like dragon goleeemmmmms <3
+ Water: The long, low dragon shape will always have a place in my heart. Add to that their pwetty rudder tails, and their widdle webbed feet… these dragons are just too adorable not to love. A water with gills and whiskers and soft rubbery skin would be so perfect. Plus, water has always been my favorite element.
+ Glass: artsy muse dragons. These dragons are well loved, and I can't help but join in. Their breath weapon is wonderful, and I imagine glass littered all over a battlefield like frozen puddles. Plus, the things they could make. Just imagine their rider with glass scale armor, or a glass parent making a pretty glass nest, or little glass wind chimes. The translucency is one of my favorite aspects, but the random amount of limbs they can have really puts these guys over the top. They are like living creative freedom.
+ Celestial: beautiful dragons with beautiful abilities. I can just see them lazing around in the sun, and being followed by wittle firefly lights at night. Plus, they are another glowy dragon. Kazuko has only added to my love of this breed. Big stately motherly dragon <3

Tainted:
+ Influenza: What really puts these on the top of my list are the plots. They must be so fun to play— mad scientist dragons that fight with biological warfare, have front legs specialized for creepy surgical experiments, and whose tails are tipped in hypodermic needles. These are the worst nightmare of any Sekkain. Plus, just imagine their riders!
+Abyssals: Probably about equal to influenzas, since I had a hard time putting them second on the list. I think they're ugly, but they're ugly in such a cool way. Four jaws, glowing lures, long tails, and poison everywhere. Their riders would have a tough time. The thing I love most about Abyssals is that they are crazy specialized hunters. On land, they are waddling sausages, but in the water, they are giant shark leeches spewing poison that will devour all. I love waters, and it's only natural I love these too.
+ Dream: centipede dragons with deer horns and winding bodies. Their powers are awesome and manipulative, and their insect wings add a new level to their pretty yet creepy design. I love the idea about the pearls, and how fragile yet powerful dreams are.
+ Bone: My favorite of the commons. I imagine these would look really cool, but what I love is their powers. They're really specialized but if used in the right way those powers could be devastating. If they managed to cut down to the bone of their enemies, the damage they could cause would be insane.
+ Ruin: Ruins are just too great not to put on this list. Ghost dragons, bone masks. Destroying everything with their rusty breath weapon. They're last mainly because their powers aren't directly as diabolical, but their design is something to be admired. And their breath weapon is still highly cool, even if it isn't the standard poison I see in a lot of tainteds. Played well, ruins just have so much potential.

Least Favorite: (from very least favorite to meh)
+ Fire: I prefer the less traditional western dragon types. Something about fires just isn't as fun for me.
+ Bulkheads: It's weird, because I love lavas so much, but these just have no appeal to me. Maybe it's because I like the idea of a gentle giant. the amount of legs isn't my thing. Bulkheads might be my least favorite. I'm sure someone else could make them awesome, but that person is not me.
+ Mycotic: Again, there's just no interest. Mushrooms just don't seem sinister to me, and I don't think I would play their powers well. I also think their design is kind of limited. If they had something cool about them, like orange lichen growing everywhere and beautiful yet deadly mushrooms sprouting from their back, I would be interested. But they seem to only be based off of the duller varieties of mushrooms, and that just doesn't excite me.
+ Sonic: I think a well designed one would be beautiful, and I don't necessarily dislike them. However, I'm way too picky with them. I don't really like the standard colors, and the horns could go one way or the other with me. It's a shame, because there are so many good ones on the site, but they just aren't for me. Their powers, though, are undeniable cool, and led me to like disruptions, their tainted cousins. Although I didn't list disruptions in the favorites, I do like them more than dislike them.
+ Lightning: Again, I have a shallow dislike for their looks. They're leggy, too obviously spiky, and the pattern of designs they have I don't really like. Lightning has never really been my favorite elements. I do love storms, so I could come to love one, but off the general description they aren't my cup of tea.
+ Air: Okay, so I clearly don't mind these too much as I'm currently in the process of adopting one. However, a lot of their designs I don't like as much. When they look more like birds than dragons I can't really bring myself to like them, and the pastel colors aren't my favorite. With the right design these dragons are amazing, but I wouldn't want to get one by chance. Part of the reason I want to adopt the one I want to adopt is because of the deviation from the typical design.

Favorite Sekkian dragon breeds

-- Sonic:These seem interesting since they can work with sound. I also like the idea of dark easily hidden colors. Other than that, these dragons seem interesting to me.
-- Forest: I like these dragons too, since Scabia is amazing! Anyway, they seem good to have around in all sorts of areas. Easy to hide, right? I like their interesting bodies since they do seem to like winged dinosaurs. xD Also, an acidic spit... pretty cool!
--Water: They have one of my favorite colors: Blue. Also, I like the idea of a dragon that can swim. Also, my new character likes to swim and be around water. Other than that, this is an interesting dragon what can be able to work and control water. Water beats fire and lava in battle.
--Gravity: Interesting body and power. My characters will be happy to have one as a partner. ;-)
--Ice: Ice can be good and bad. These seem interesting since I do like furry creatures, but Winston will think that it is interesting and might sneak a few pets. Anyway, I just this is another dragon that will be on mt favorite list.
--Karma: I like the idea of healing breath, which is really neat.

Least Favorite Sekkian Breeds:

--Lava:These two breeds are useful, but they seem really spiky and hard to sit on. xD Still, fire and lava have amazing powers. My Sekkian candidate might not want o sit on their backs, though. Also, they seem a bit too toasty for someone's butt to be on.
--Rosemary: They seem to be a bit small for my liking. I like the big and powerful dragons, but the little dragons can sometimes be of assistance. Still, not my favorite breed and other dragon types meet my interests and likes.
--Metal: These seem weird. Also, their power seem simple... but I do not know how useful it is in a fight. Other than that, they are not my favorite.

-------------------------------

Favorite Tainted dragon breeds

--Mycotic: Spores, rot and sickness... Good powers in battle. Still, it will be hard for a rider to work with since they would not want to be in the ground while their dragon flies around. xD Still, it is an interesting breed of course.
--Abyssal: Interesting breed with more hurtful substance. Really acidic spit that can make something metal: freaky and amazing! I also like that they amazing and creepy teeth. I love it! It matches what I think of a tainted dragon to be like.
--Ruin: Interesting powers! Tainted are freaky cool! Anyway, I like that one of their powers can be caught on fire. Something that can help change a fight with turn of a dime. Very interesting and fun! I love it!
Arcane: Wow, a death dragon. One shot can kill you, it seems. Also, they can eat electricity! So, this is something that a rider will be proud to be partners with.
--Razor: Spiky and fun dragons... but can be a hard to ride, I think. Still, I like that they can be really useful in battle.
Disruption:: Blind and deadly dragons. Amazing! Also, they seem worthy of their breed's name.

Least favorite Tainted dragon breeds

--Bulkheads: Sadly these species are my least favorite. I just don't like the ultra power as volcanoes. Also, they seem to really pack a punch, but yeah. This dragon doesn't have my interest.
--Dream: Not my favorite and seem really weak compared to other dragon breeds. They don't catch my eye.

(( All of the other dragon species are in the middle of the least and most favorite. So, I will be okay with them as my character's life-long partners, but the least favorite are the ones that I am leaning away from. ))
