Karedon, despite her recent run had decided to continue as if nothing had happened. She noticed that she was eating a little more than usual, but she could work and very much intended to. They hadn't planned for the flights ahead of time, and there was a large caravan that needed to get from Lihn back to the academy. It was a long walk there, not that she minded, but it did feel like it was longer than usual. Perhaps it was just the early effects of her forming egg, she doubted it'd be any serious problem before she got back to the academy though. She spent some time in Lihn, as her rider shopped and did whatever else it was she liked to do in the capital of the area. Karedon didn't spot many other dragons while waiting, she had hoped to have some company more her own size but it apparently was not to be. So she just waited. Eventually her rider returned, along with the merchants that had contracted them. The next few moments were more active they attached the ropes and straps to her various large, and very sturdy horns, that seemed to serve just as well as hitching posts. Her large limbs flexed somewhat as she tested the weight of her burden, it was great, but nothing she did not expect. She was made for these sorts of tasks, and was more than happy to carry them out. The ground gave way with each of her great steps, claws digging in to the relatively firm ground that made up the road they would be taking, though when they released the earth from their grasp the wholes filled in just as they had been. Before her, the ground seemed to smooth and compact, easing the squeaks and bumps from the many carts and wagons she pulled across the terrain. Meanwhile, her rider was lounging in the large saddle, contemplating how to convince her behemoth of a dragon to take it easy and hang out near the academy. She knew that she could just order Karedon to do so, and then she would but that's not how she felt their relationship should be. A few ideas came to her as she lay back, maybe they could find some wall or road building about the place. |

Antaeus had spent his day laying about on the opposite side of the merchant district as the other earth, other wise he would have made contact earlier. His rider, Odion, was busy visiting his sister. He hadn't been back since the end of the war, and so the dragon had offered to accompany him, as he always did. Children had swarmed about him at first, marveling at the massive dragon, however that too slowed to a stop over the course of the day. Eventually Odion had emerged and with a rather long goodbye to his sister they were ready to depart. He pulled himself up onto the saddle and Ant rose to his vast height. The walk out of the city was easy, even through the throngs of people that swarmed the markets. The sight of an earth dragon made most people very quickly dodged out of the way giving him a massive girth to get through. Still Antaeus apologized to many of them for the trouble on his way past. Soon enough the pair was pressing out of the city and onto the road to the academy. Antaeus focused on the other earth just up the road. He sped up his pace to come even with the other earth. He was excited to have caught another earth on the way back to the Academy. He stepped along side her with a smile across his boney face. Odion sat up a little straighter in the saddle to observe the large earth female and a grin overcame his face at Ant's excitement. “Excuse me Ma'am.” Antaeus greeted happily, “I can't help but notice you have quite the load there. I am headed towards the Academy, do you have need of any help? I could reduce your load.” If nothing else, Ant was a gentleman. Seeing any dragon struggling made him feel the need to step up. “I am Antaeus by the way. My rider is Odion.” He bobbed his head back towards the saddle contently. Odion waved a hand to the dragon and its rider, not at all contending Antaeus' want to help. If he tried the dragon would scoff and do it anyways. Besides they were headed the same way. What was the point in not lending a little aid. |

Karedon couldn't see Antaeus approaching for several moments after she had heard him, her large goggles blocked light pretty well but also obscured her peripheral vision greatly... It was better than the alternative though. She was somewhat surprised to run into another dragon, earth or otherwise on this road. Most were busy elsewhere, or otherwise just flew directly over the trees without heed of a road. It would be nice, she hoped, to have company. The chances of the trip being a good one increased as such polite words escaped the others jaws. They did not entirely match his physique, but that was often true with their kind. Frightening appearances did not mean frightening personalities after all. "Perhaps, when we stop for the night, you can take some if you still wish to." She said with a small smile. "It is nice to meet you Antaeus, and Odion..." She really couldn't see much of the others rider at the moment, but it didn't matter. "My name is Karedon, and my rider is Jhalorae." she asked with mild curiosity. She hadn't had the stomach for battling, despite her heavily armored build. Her addition to the war efforts had mainly been lugging equipment needed for the others, and dragging the wounded back home. She couldn't help but think maybe the other one was related to a tainted dragon- not that she particularly cared but she thought she might've seen the resemblance he held somewhere else before as well. A deep throated rumbling purr came from her throat as she turned her head to look more purposefully towards him. "Are you a part of a wing there?" Her rider waved back at the other rider, and dragon... Though didn't feel like yelling in order to hold a conversation, even if the two earths were walking side by side the noise of the carts and distance between them was rather far to talk over... And she didn't feel like digging out the semaphore at the moment. Thankfully Karedon appeared to be in a talkative mood. |

Antaeus didn't spend much time aloft. His rider wasn't too keen on the skies either, which was why the pair fit so well. Antaeus was a bit more slight then his counterpart, not to say he was small. She was broad and held the characteristics of earth dragons he lacked. His smooth belly for instance, and his long, leaf bladed tail. To be honest Antaeus could glide just fine, if not better then some of his earthen counterparts, but chose not to in hopes of keeping his rider content. Odion was prone to airsickness after extended bouts of air time, Antaeus didn't know if it was the rocking of his body when he was inevitably forced to flap his wings, or simply the effort of remaining so far from his much loved ground. So Antaeus usually walked from place to place. As large as he was great distances could be covered in a day with little effort on his part. “Pleasure is all mine, Karedon.” Ant bowed his head at her suggestion, giving in to allowing her to bare the brunt until then. He walked calmly beside her, keeping her pace easily. Anyone else along the road would surly be unhappy the pair had decided to wander together. Together their footfalls would make the ground tremble and shake. He was careful to reduce it as much as he could, the ground under his feet shifting to sand as he stepped upon it and reforming into hardened earth as soon as his foot left, thus reducing the impact. He didn't want to be overturning carts of smaller beasts just to have a conversation. His heritage was a thing of pride for the dragon, even if it wasn't always favorable. It would be rare to catch him talking about the taint or tainted family members. He was still sore on the issue of the reformed tainted being aloud among their ranks. He had seen what they were capable of, even if they had changed he worried they might one day return to what they had been. He was rather conflicted about the whole issue, truth be told, and avoided discussing any more then he had to. After all it was hard to weave carefully around a sensitive subject when you didn't even know how to feel about it yourself. “A wing? I was. During the great battles, but things have changed and we will be reassigned into a new one. For now I have been asked to help with the road clearing efforts.” He said rather cryptically, leaving out details where he felt was appropriate or unnecessary. He glanced to her load, “And yourself? Though your work seems to suggest you have found other uses of your skills.” His vivid green eyes, the most colorful part of the murky-coppery dragon, fixated on her goggles though he decided it better not to comment. He did not know if it was an accepted subject with the large female yet. Odion returned the gesture to the other rider, seeming to concur that screaming over the vast gap was unnecessary and pointless. They would just make themselves horse, and probably not get much from the experience. So he pulled out his dire carved pipe, and packed down a bowl of tobacco. The sweet smelling substance was a gift from his sister, a thank you for visiting sort of a thing. He loved the Lihn tobaccos. Because the aristocracy lived there, and his sister had married a rather well to do merchant, you could get fine smoke in the city. So the gift had been well appreciated. He lit his bowl with a match and puffed out smoke as Ant trundled along. |

Karedon's wings shuffled somewhat to avoid chaffing on some of the ropes that were attached to the horns of her shoulders, and also to fan herself just slightly. She could... Slow her fall, slightly with them, but gliding and flying were almost out of the question. She didn't mind though, the earth was enough for her. After all, there was very little to touch in the air, and none of it ever lasted. She was somewhat surprised that he did not attempt to force his gentlemanly nature upon her, most creatures felt the need to prove that they were masculine, or something of the sort... Even if doing so caused problems for others, or slowed them down. It was refreshing to see something different. The small tendrils on her face curled about somewhat as she appeared to be thinking, but words failed to emerge for the moment. She was usually a rather silent creature, but was attempting to get over that nature. She liked simple things, simple words and sentences, she knew that in order to impart a power with your speech you need not exhaust all of your breath... But it was difficult to make friends when only one side was really talking, perhaps she would just have to sacrifice her ideals from time to time... At the comment of the battles, and her other possible uses she hummed slightly... "I am not part of a wing, and violence is not in my nature." she paused for a moment, to move a rock out of the way, before continuing with her walking, and speech. "I help ensure that all are fed, within reason. Whether it is working in fields, or delivering the goods themselves does not matter... And as you have, so have I volunteered to blaze trails, and reform those which were broken." It sounded like she was having difficulty speaking, not that her words were disorderly or spoken poorly, but it seemed like she was searching for ways to expand it into more normal conversation. The scent of the tobacco confused her for a moment, as she nearly thought that Anteus might have lit it, before she realized the source was more likely the rider. The color of her own eyes were hidden by the goggles though, even when her head had turned to find out what was burning. Jhalorae was... Well, rather surprised, that was probably one of the longest speeches she had ever heard her dragon bring forth... For idle banter no less! She would have pat the dragoness on the back, but knew that Karedon wouldn't really feel it. |

Antaeus was not one to press. A no was a no, and she had given him an opportunity to still be knightly later on. He would step in once they had camped for the night and take some of her load. However she seemed perfectly content to do the work for now and further confrontation might cause Karedon to send him on his way. So he walked, content at her side. His twin sets of spines, that ran down his back, swayed with every step, his broad set, bullish frame causing the rocking. Though it caused his rider to have to tolerate the sway, it did send those golden plates a gleam in the sun. He hummed and nodded to her musings, simply listening until she had said her fill. His eyes narrowed as he looked ahead in thought. The earth dragon liked to think things through. It allowed him to construct his thoughts in a manner of his choosing instead of blurting out the first thing that came to mind like a whelp without any manner. “I find that noble too. Without food no fighter would have energy to fight. Without food no rider could get out of bed, the people of the academy would wither and die. In the end we all become tainted.” He huffed and clicked his teeth together thoughtfully. “I find cultivation to be most noble indeed.” He nodded his head and puffed up a moment. “My calling is to defend the Academy.” His head rose at the prospect and brought him up to his full towering height and his broad chest puffed. “To race into battle and turn my enemy from the field.” He hrumphed and dropped his head to the more comfortable level, where it hung even with his shoulders. “To each their own.” He rumbled contently. It was important every dragon, and rider for that matter, found their place. Right now he was between parts of his life and it bothered the still young male. Regardless Antaeus didn't mind the conversation being somewhat one sided. He was just as content with silence so long as there was company. He did not need to fill the air with pointless chatter at every moment. That was more for lightening dragons and the forests. Earth was patient. Earth could wait. Odion puffed smoke rings out of his mouth, which were swiftly swept off by the rushing air. Sure to Ant they were walking at a steady pace, but to the human on his back his long strides covered so much ground that the air whirled around his spikes with every slow bob back and forth in time with his steps. Odion didn't seem to mind though. He was perfectly happy to listen to the dragon's talk and smoke his pipe. He was glad Ant was becoming social again. After the war the pair had pulled away from the academy for recovery. As such Antaeus had missed the flight and had become rather moody watching the other dragons sire their children. So while others grew closer with their mates he remained lonely and vigilant over the grounds. A quiet gargoyle. “I will be working to clear the trails myself. Perhaps we will work together. Roads must be made, debris cleared.” He answered and twitched his nostrils at the tobacco smoke. He had words with his rider regularly about the habit, but Odion was a rock the vast dragon could not move. Try as he might, some of his rider's more... unsavory habits, were not going to be broken. |

Karedon was... Well, pleased by his response. She felt that perhaps he was attempting to flatter her, but she did not mind it, especially as she found everything that he said to be true. Food was important, they said that an army marched on its stomach... She wasn't sure exactly /who/ said that, but apparently they did. Her thoughts were interrupted somewhat as he... Gleamed so vividly, and for a moment she turned her head a little further from him, until they began to pass by some trees that helped to diffuse the light. "Few know the difficulty of feeding such a mass of creatures our size..." She rumbled somewhat as he continued on, though she had to wonder how he was dealing with the fact that battles had diminished. They would never go away, she imagined, but they were in deep, deep decline. "I was present for but one real battle, the final one. I helped to remove the wounded from the field, that were too difficult for others to carry. I... Do not think I would have the stomach to do so again." she shuddered slightly at the thought, but soon enough was past it again. Her smile returned in more force as he mentioned that perhaps they would work together, she rarely worked with others simply because few felt it proper to use their talents in farming or hauling. "I would enjoy that. We shall have to see where our talents are needed the most." She noticed that she referred to herself a great deal when speaking, but wasn't sure how to change that... The only thing she could be sure of was her work, and her thoughts. It felt important to identify that she was the source of what she spoke of, most of the time. Again she eyed some of his sparkling gold adornments, she knew that she had seen the resemblance in others who had been born of tainted dragons... She held no ill will for the taints, at least the ones that had not chosen to do what they had. She would not forgive any, tainted or otherwise, that purposeful sought to cause harm. "I am curious, your features seem familiar. Who were your parents?" |

Antaeus had some notion of flattering the female. Not to gain anything except perhaps her favor. He could smell her hormones. Karedon was heavy with egg, which was one of the reasons he had asked to take her duties in the first place. He knew Odion did not know, and he felt he should engage her in other conversation then that of her current physical state. It was not of the highest importance on his list of topics. There were many other things to cover and a time would present itself when he could interject her egg into conversation. “I know our kind alone must be horrid to try to keep fed. We eat so much.” he stated rather flatly. It was an obvious observation, but he couldn't imagine trying to farm enough food to feed several hungry earths. It must be taxing indeed. He briefly wondered if forests helped to grow the food that covered their tables. That would make the most sense. He could ask her about it at some point. For now there were other subjects being breached. That of combat. His mind flashed with horrible images of burning dragons, with wings tattered beyond recognition. The winged dragons falling like flies, unable to even tell which side was which amid the smoke and violence. Battle was not pleasant, even if he was a fine fighter. “I do not enjoy killing my own kind, tainted or not. But it is my responsibility to keep those who can not defend themselves safe from such a horrible fate. I do what I must to keep the academy safe.” He ran his tongue over his exposed teeth with a look of thought. “I am ready to help clear the roads. I have had my fill of battle for a time. When my wing calls, I will come, but I am glad of the reprieve.” He fell silent. For now he was more then happy to have another job, anything to take those bloodied images from his mind. “My parents.” He paused thinking for a moment about what had happened to them. There had been so much chaos during the war... hopefully they were alright, but he wasn't sure. His steps faltered a moment as he took in this revelation. Soon after he regained his stride and made up any lost ground. “My mother was an earth named Yrjanna and my father was a fire dragon named Fiametta. I have not seen them in many seasons.” He hummed deep in his chest at the thought. “I should really look into their condition. Thank you for bringing the short sightedness to my attention.” He cocked his head and looked to her finding this a perfect moment to segway into her current condition. “Are you excited at the prospect of becoming a parent yourself? The time must be approaching quickly.” He turned his gaze forward. “I missed this flight, but it is of no great concern to me.” Odion knew that to be quite the large lie from the earth he say upon. He was one of the only people alive who could sort through his dragon's mixed messages. Even though Antaeus had said it in a steady way. The gallant dragon couldn't hide his feelings from his astute rider. He did not, however, choose to say anything. First off no one but Ant would hear him, and secondly there was no need to press Ant on his disappointment of not being among the proud fathers that would soon fill the sands. It wasn't his place to bring his dragon under scrutiny for emotions he decided to bury. |

Karedon gave him a amused look when he commented on how much their breed ate, and it took a little bit of willpower not to say something to fluster him... But she managed to avoid it. Instead she nodded somewhat. "It is made more difficult by our primarily carnivorous nature, could we survive off bread the task would be much less burdened." she said with a small hum. It was easy to plow fields, and plant crops in massive amounts... but the livestock took so much more maintenance and time, and space to some degree. about his comment about killing though, surprisingly enough her smile broadened slightly. Her head turned slightly, and very gently nudged his neck. The odd tendrils of her face curling back so as not to get squished between them before she moved her head away once more. "So long as you can say that without difficulty, I believe we shall be friends." truth be told, she would consider any that spent time with her a friend even if perhaps she was better off not knowing them. She didn't care about the differences between tainted or non, it was simply how they chose to act that mattered in her mind. When he went on about his parents though, she found that they did not immediately call forth any images, perhaps she had met them, or maybe not. The names sounded familiar, but that is where the memory stopped for her. "You are welcome, I hope you find them both in good health." she spoke softly, as if thinking on something herself... She didn't let it get in the way of their conversation though. "I am excited, and worried, as most mother's should be." she eyed him when he said that it was of no great concern to him about missing them, but she knew that was a lie not from his actions, gallant exterior, or unfaltering speech but from past experiences. It was in their blood to fly when the time came, she had put it off so many times, pretending that it mattered not... But each missed season seemed to leave a gash in her pride that eventually she could not stand. "I hope you do not miss the next one, there are few male earths with the tenacity that I desire." Come to think of it, there were just very few male earths... In general. None had arrived to her flight, the closest to her breed had been the crystal and the forest. Neither of which could be described in the same terms as herself or Antaeus. Behind her the carts continued to gently creak and roll across the road, sometimes people jumped onto one, or disembarked from them as was needed to check on the contents... Or just avoid walking. She couldn't see, as her peripheral vision was pretty much obscured by the goggles she wore, but the changes in weight meant very little. She was only paying attention enough to notice if one of the carts were to come loose, or tip over. Thankfully, neither had happened. |

Antaeus was liking this female more and more. He forgot how nice it was to speak with his own breed. They tended to be a bit more taciturn then most dragons, and that was fine by him. Many could not appreciate a long walk in companionable silence, but it was rare he found an earth who didn't. The long walk could be improved upon with good conversation, but that did not mean flapping your jaw like a fool every opportunity you got. Her gesture and words brought a thrum out of him, a deep rich sound that started somewhere in his chest and worked it's way up. “If my position ever changes be sure to put me back in line.” He said with a rumbled chuckle. “Would be a shame after all. Sacrificing the things you hold dear.” He glanced at her, talking not only about his own ideals, but affirming her choice to remain off the battlefield. Then again whether or not she got his meaning was a shot in the dark, he had a tendency to speak in double meanings. Antaeus was still very young, even if his demeanor and behavior spoke otherwise. This would have been his first flight. He could have gone, he should have, but he didn't and that was that. Nothing could be changed as it had already happened. Her thoughts were right. While he had been sorting through his thoughts on what had transpired, he had let his pride become a victim. He bobbed his head in response, “Well that is good. They are normal emotions I would presume.” He didn't know much about egg laying as he had never fathered any of his own. Thus he left the subject rather open ended finding no other avenues to pursue. His rather jutted brow rose slightly at her comment about him flying and his chest puffed slightly. He wondered if it were a subtle flirt or simply a passing comment. He flicked his tongue over his exposed teeth again, letting the thought pass without too much examination. She clearly had a mate as she was with egg. It was unclear if they were a mated pair or just a one season pairing. So he simply let it go. “Ah well, next flight I swear on my honor I will fly.” He grinned feeling like some weight had been lifted. He his pride had been wounded by missing his very first flight. Now it was settled he would not be missing the second. Even if she told him he did not have to be there he had given his word, and that was a binding oath to the rather old fashioned dragon. He may have been young, but he held himself to a very strict code of behavior and conduct. As such he would be at the next flight and he would sire his own child then. It gave him a feeling of content to be settled on the issue and not ponder it any longer. Ant was aware of the carts only so far as to keep his long, forest like tail above them. That thick, leaf like blade that glimmered dimly like some exotic stone was held high enough to not worry that it might harm anyone. If he was lazy and let it dangle there was a danger of squashing some poor human, or destroying a passing cart. Better on the safe side. For a moment he held his silence then he turned his head to glance at her again, “Is this your first egg?” |

Karedon could easily walk, or work for days with a complete lack of socialization and be happy. Sometimes being near to another was enough, or simply knowing that her efforts would improve upon anothers life. It was... Nice to actually speak though, she wasn't terribly used to it. She always tried to speak in the fewest words, to keep her speech as pure to the message she wished to deliver. Fancy, or long speeches often clouded the truth in her mind at least. "If that happens, I will give you a stern talking to." she said simply, and with a hint of humor. She wouldn't want to fight another earth, especially one like him... Though a strong enough hit to his head might re-adjust his thinking, she imagined. There were far better combatants than her to attempt this though. On his comment about it being normal emotions, she severely hoped that this was the case. She had been told that most mothers worried for the future of their eggs and such, but in truth she was more worried about what the hatchling would be like itself... Would it be as kind as her? Rash and head strong like many of the others, or something completely different? The thought of having a child which she could not relate to was worrying to her. She kept telling herself that there was no need to worry, and things would happen as they were meant to... But it was difficult. "Then I shall see you on the plains." She said simply, there was no doubting that she had meant that as a somewhat flirtatious statement... Though her somewhat soft voice had not changed during it, it was obvious that she was enjoying his company and was more than curious how a gentleman such as himself would fair during her next trial. Her thoughts were broken by his last question though and she smiled with a little bit of embarrassment. One of her large hands moving up to adjust her goggles slightly to better block the angle of the sun. "Ah, yes. I had been avoiding it for awhile, and could do so no longer. It feels... Good. I think." Her gaze moved back to look at him, it was difficult to admire his smooth scales and golden horns with the current light... But she thought he looked pretty sleek for their kind. Perhaps during the night she could get a better look. |

Antaeus nodded his head at her response. A firm headbutt, however, was not advised against the coppery-earth. His forward pointing horns made his head rather, well a dangerous target. Getting within headbutting distance was asking for a chipped horn or damaged skull, then again a good thwap with a claw might be enough to jog his senses. In his opinion it would never come to that. He protected his well concealed crystal well. The oval sometimes green, sometimes oily purple depending on light was tucked safely between his jaw bones. Which meant if the dragon was to charge, then there was very little likely-hood of getting anywhere near the thing. However the prior subject, which this tangent sprouted from, was dropped after his simple nod. There was nothing further to be said, in his opinion, that would not send them spiraling in verbal circles. So he moved on. Her comment was received as a high complement, despite how short and only mildly flirtatious it was. Antaeus huffed proudly and strutted a little bit, his long back claws digging small ruts into the sand behind him; added by the slight prance it added into his step. Thankfully when the ground returned to its previously solid state they filled in with the displaced earth. He swiveled his head towards her and puffed up a little more. She had stroked his pride, and that was something he quiet liked. He did not like to think of himself as a prideful beast, though he truly was. “I will search you out like a dire on the scent of a scurrying beast on the next flight.” His tone was almost as level as her's but there was a shiver of excitement that ran through it. Taking another earth as his first would be a satisfying start to what he hoped would be a long and fruitful stud career. He liked the idea. His tongue flashed over his exposed teeth as it often did when he lost himself in a chain of thought. He quickly pulled himself back out to respond to her, “Well then we have more then just our breed in common. We both were apprehensive about our first flights. I am glad you are no longer feeling so as I look forward to seeing you upon the plains.” Antaeus was sleek for one of their kin. His twin rows of brassy spines were liken to an earth dinosaur and his oddly shiny skin did not fit the often matte-hued dragons he called kin. He lacked the typical belly scales and was rather, well graceful on his claws when he had to be. More so then most earths anyways. It was rather to be expected though, neither of his parents had been an earth and honestly they had been stumped at his laying. However eggs had a way of forming in odd combinations when opposites bred. “Well regardless. May your first offspring be strong as the ground beneath your feet and as patient as stone.” He thrummed contently thinking that sounded regal enough to be a blessing for a child. It would do until he thought of something else. |

Karedon's skin twitched in a few places as she resisted shaking, to avoid tossing her rider or dislodging any of the many ropes that lead to the caravan behind them. She was feeling oddly... Fidgety, perhaps her imbalanced hormones, and the presence of this male had something to do with it. She caught herself thinking about leaning against his side more than once, but managed to avoid any odd leaning while walking... Even when he had puffed up and strut a bit. How he spoke about tracking her down next season though, brought about a small light hearted chortle. It was a amusing choice of words, but she enjoyed the message that it conjured forth. She couldn't help but notice his habit of licking his teeth upon excitement, or perhaps nervousness. It was odd, but not necessarily a fault. Everyone had their own little accents to the language of their bodies. "Thank you for your compliments, and well wishes." she said with a small bow of her head. A look of contemplation came to her features as her head returned to its ordinary level... The silence lingered for a moment, though not uncomfortably so before her speech returned. "Do you have a favorite food?" Her question was somewhat... Random, she supposed, but spurred as she thought about the night when they were to stop. One of the carts was stocked full of food solely intended for Karedon (not that she'd tell him that), and she hoped he wouldn't mind what they had packed. Unless he had his own reserves that he'd rather partake of. They had just left a city where most things could be had, but the bulk required for their kind was pretty expensive to acquire there. There was a slight growl from her stomach as she thought about it, she had a few odd cravings recently... |

Antaeus watched her thoughtfully. It was nearly time to lay, or so his instincts told him. The heavy smell of her hormones wafted against his nostrils. It should have warned him there may be an overprotective father about, however as none was with her he eventually came to the conclusion he had sowed his oats and would be at the sands for that duty only. He pondered when the next flight would come, being young he was anxious about it. Eager to try his hand at doing the instinctual thing. When he aged he would come to be more patient, as he was with the rest of his life. There had, even from the time of his hatching. Been something slightly dog like about the dragon. He panted sometimes, with his tongue lolling out upon a good run or hard glide. It was a bad habit, but he did not think either offended anyone so he did not attempt to correct the behavior. As Karedon knew, everyone had their little idiosyncrasies. He returned the bow of his head at her thanks and for a moment was silent. It seemed they had dead ended that conversation as well. His gate slowly returned to its more average pace, his head lower and his steps more cautious. He knew his excitement might get someone killed. Travelers were common enough and he wasn't wanting to step on anyone, or accidentally kick them with an excited foot. The outcome would be deadly. But he kept that excitement boiling in his belly. When the time came. He would be ready this round. His eyes flicked back to her at her mention of food and he chuffed thoughtfully. He took a moment to think it over. A small tip of his head this way and that showed his indecision. He worked through the list of things he liked to eat trying to pick a single favorite. “Well if I must choose a favorite, Melons.” he said rather thoughtfully, “Because they are easier to come by then whole roasted cattle. What of you?” Two, very large, saddle bags hung from his saddle. He had started the trip prepared. Jerky and various vegetables that spoiled slowly filled one, and the other held supplies for Odion. The second was far smaller then the first. So while his supplies were not as plentiful, his bed roll, blankets, and fire starter, were very important to the man who stooped lazily up on his back, still puffing away at his pipe. |

Karedon's mind was beginning to wander again, she was so used to being somewhat... Solitary that it was sometimes difficult to remember she had company, this was changing slowly though. Her gaze was upon the road, as she contemplated how they were to make so many more in the future. Were there even enough people left with a will to go forth to these other places? Old or new? There had been a lot of destruction, but maybe the places, and the people would recover. It was really more of a matter of when she supposed. She was getting ahead of herself though, and shook it off as he said his favorite sort of food were melons. This statement brought about a thick chortle from the dragoness as she sniffed about a few times. "Mmm... Chocolate, I believe that is the favorite of what I have tried." Not that she often was able to indulge in such a treat, given the amount needed for a creature her size to really enjoy it. "I do not often eat meat, but I do enjoy it." a hum came from her throat as she thought about it. She didn't know why she preferred vegetables, but perhaps it was simply because she felt bad for killing creatures for food, especially when they're ones that she helped raise. Other than that random interlude of conversation, Karedon seemed to sink back into her thoughts instead of speaking. She was pretty much content to let the moments slide away of their own volition than requiring chatter to hide the length of time which passed. She was a little surprised how much more quickly things had seemed to progress with distractions though. Jhalorae remained mostly quiet while lounging in her seat as well, occasionally she would look at a map, or other sorts of lists that she got from the bags beside her but none of it involved much moving or speaking. Not that she could have done anything involving too much moving up there. Unless Anteus or Odion did much, there were no large distractions between then and when the night began to fall and the wagons had to slow down, mainly because it was harder for the rest of the people to keep an eye on the roads... and they liked to sleep. Karedon would have kept going were it up to her, but it was not. As she came to a stop, many of the people that had been trailing behind or sitting on the carts came to help un-hook her. |
