Slinking through the out brush, the pair slowly made their way back to the outskirts of Lihn with plans to stop at a local tavern for a drink and food before heading back home for the night. The evening had been very uneventful for the duo, which Sebastian was actually grateful for. He didn't want another trip to the infirmary because he had gotten into another situation. She disliked having to patch him up, it worried her. But then, His whole job had the risk of getting hurt. She understood that, but it still worried her. But she was his sister, and it meant she cared about him. He sighed and absently ran his hand through Rin's soft fur. The sun had yet to fully set, so they would at least make it to the Tavern before night fall. He didn't mind traveling back to the Academy in the dark. The roads up there were safer than out there, and no one outside of a Dragon would really dare challenge a lone Dire, and even then, Rin could do some damage if the dragon was small enough. He shook his head and stretched, glad to be back on patrol after the several months of Rin being pregnant and then raising her pup till it could bond. After she had made sure her puppy was happy, She had returned more or less to her old self, and Sebastian was happy to have his partner back without the worry of mood swings. Rin wasn't exhausted, she was tired and hungry. She was ready to go home eat and relax before falling asleep. However, just because they were so close to the town, like her rider, she never let her guard down. There were still dangers, even this close the outskirts and it would be foolish to let their guards down. She had learned from her last ambush to never let it down or stray from the path. Calculating silver eyes darted from side to side whenever she heard a noise before she cleared it as not threatening. Until something started slinking towards her. At first, it was just rustling leaves and sticks from her right, but then she heard the same motion on her left. At first she was going to pass it off as animals just moving around, but the smell hit her next and the soffft hissing of a snake caught her ears. She stopped, eyes narrowing, she ignored Sebastian's question, flicking her tail at him to listen. It sounded like a snake, but moved like a feline. A growl rose in her throat as the two beasts started to move faster as they honed in on their new target. Her hackles rose and the growling grew louder and she started snarling, eyes darting to both possible entry points for them. Sebastian of course, didn't hear them until the got more closer. His eyes narrowed and he reached for his weapon. He didn't like this. If it had only been one, He wouldn't have been too worried. But by the time the two large Chimera's emerged, lion heads snarling and Goat heads snorting, tails hissing, he could only hope they would make it out alive as The two charge her, and Rin leapt for one as Sebastian threw a dagger at the other. A passing thought of him needing a bow flitted through, he leapt off the dire, and drew his sword to face the other Chimera to help Rin. He could only hope they made it out alive. |

Something else was slinking through the brush not too far away, though for entirely different reasons. Occasionally it would stop and pick at plants or things, but never for very long. It was stalking something, and knew that it had to be close to the creatures home, they never strayed too far from it after all... And it wouldn't take her too long to ransack the place and escape before the guards woke up, she just had to wait for it to be a little darker and colder. Yess... Her eyes narrowed as she watched the bee fly up into a tree, her tongue flicking across her beak like muzzle as she finally found the nest she had been searching for... Soon, all that sweet honey would be hers! Allllll of it, no one would ever know she had it, because she would eat it before going back to town. It was the perfect crime. Her bony hide was nearly impervious to their stinging, and she even modified her bones to create bars across her nostrils too small for bees to fit through. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard something a ways away, her sensitive senses picking up a low... Growling noise? She wasn't really sure until she heard it grow louder, and the addition of the snarling and fighting noises of a fight nearby. She guessed it wasn't between dragons, unless they happened to be cat and dog dragons, but was going to investigate anyways. Her super secret find had to wait before she could harvest in relative safety anyways.... And fights were one of the best places for practicing the healing arts! She always liked finding more places to practice those. A little more quickly than before, she slunk in their direction until she could see whatever was making the noise... She was surprised to see a pair of chimera, a cute looking dire, and a human! Hmm... Nope, the dire was still cuter, she decided. It seemed like they were both gonna take on a chimera-- wait... She eyed the human for a moment, before realizing not only was the chimera bigger and meaner (and uglier), but it was a lot more dangerous... At least in this situation. Many smaller, dagger like bones began to sprout from her bone-armor as she prepared to inject herself into the combat. She had been a bit too slow to arrive before the fight started, but might be seen approaching as the two beasts reached their targets. |

Rin tore at whatever she could at whatever limb or area that she could get her jaw around. She was a good size to at least give the Chimera a good challenge, and she wasn't up for tactics, just plan ol' try to rip its head off without getting killed strategy. Sebastian, on the other hand, was a little worse off. He couldn't get to close to the much large chimera, but he ducked and dodged and was trying his best to get behind the Chimera. He wouldn't try and kill it from the front, only from the back if he could get the chance. He was glad he was wearing some leather armor, it would protect him to an extent if the chimera didn't rip it off somehow. He swore to him, as he barely missed an incoming swipe for his head, rolling he jumped to his feet and as a claw aimed at him again, he threw a slash of his sword at it, and the chimera howled as the blade bit into the skin. It had taken strength on Sebastian's part to get the sword to bite in, but he was confident he could get in there. And then he saw the small bone-dragon approached, sharp needle bone daggers sprouting everywhere. His hope of maybe getting alive failed. It was an eerie sight to behold and he was literally running into it in a darkened alley so to speak. He could only hope Rin and him could take these two down before dealing with the bone dragon. The thought did cross his mind that the dragon was here to help him, but he wasn't sure, and didn't have time to dwell on the possibilities of what side the dragon would take as the chimera managed to land a blow on his shoulder that sent him flying. |

The dragon wasn't going as fast as it could have, attempting to sneak up on either the chimera or the human it seemed... Her eyes glinted in the failing light, inset within the skull that made up her face, yet there was a spark there that seemed a little out of place. Unfortunately no one had the time to admire how sparkly her eyes were as those orbs watched the human get smacked off to the side. It was almost comical, the way he flew from the mere smack of a paw, but she hid her near giggles with a sharp gasp... Followed by an incredibly high pitched squeak/chirp! Whatever sound she had intended to open with had apparently failed, as that was now her battle cry as she leapt forward and unleashed a volley of spikes onto the chimera. Each protrusion from her chest leaving with a crackling, crunching sound, almost that of leaves, and immediately followed by the 'thwip' of an arrow as they shot out. She liked to pride herself on her deadly precision, but it ended up being a somewhat early, and thus haphazard attack, many of the spikes missed and impacted into the ground harmlessly... It was only due to the shear quantity of them she had let loose that the chimera had been wounded. The creature looked like a pincushion, a very... bloody, flailing, screaming and growling pincushion, which she had to admit, was probably the best kind. Well, no she wouldn't actually admit that, but that was beside the point. "Chiichiichieeeee!~" rang out from her shrill vocal chords as she danced side to side by the bleeding, and enraged creature. It was too... Disfigured to do much but attempt to charge back at her, an attempt that got it close, but not close enough. Her long, and apparently very sharp beak slammed down into its back as it came close, her body jumping backwards slightly with the loud buzz and thrumming of her wings as she nearly pinned it to the ground... She wasn't done insuring that it was down though, as she opened that beak with a sickening crunch of ribs and flesh, before twisting... Causing the creature to roar, gargle, sputter, and spurt its life fluids across her face and neck before its fighting died down to mere twitches and spasms. It tasted... Salty, good, but now she'd have to get some water or something to avoid ruining the honey later on... Hmm.... A bark, or growl from nearby reminded her that she wasn't done, though her spiked and barbed beak had the inadvertent side effect of trapping the dead creature on her face. It took tremendous effort for her to lift her head up a little bit, just to have it fall back forward. "Ohhnnooofff... Mah fahshish shtuuck!~" She wailed as her head thrashed about in attempt to free it, already working to withdraw the spikes from her face... Though it wasn't as instant of an ability as some of the older dragons had. |

Sebastian painfully pulled himself to his feet after being thrown, and went to go for another round, but the dragon had already launched an attack on the Chimera that had thrown him. Well, that solved that potential problem, though he was still wary around the unknown dragon. Instead, he turned his attention to helping Rin, who really didn't need anymore help. With one leap, she manged to pin the large chimera underneath her bulky weight. Ignoring any bites or slashes from the beast, she tore into it's throat savagely, shaking her head back and forth until it gurgled and dead, it's thrashing quickly weakening and stopping. Once she was sure it was dead did she hop off, and shook her fur. She wasn't too badly hurt, thankfully. Sebastian too, had only received the long gash along his upper arm. Rin, before going over to check on Sebastian, started to clean herself off. She leaned against him as he breathed a sigh of relief. They turned to look at the dragon that was still trying to get her face out of the other Chimera. Rin didn't take her guard down, but she didn't snarl or growl, instead watching warily, as Sebastian rested his sword hand. |

It didn't take too long for the dragon to free herself, the sickening sound of tearing flesh evident as the spikes retracted far enough that she was able to pull free... It didn't make her look any less threatening though, to see small sharp bumps across her blood soaked features. It only took her a glance to spot that the dire had managed to down the other creature... Which was a good thing, since she wasn't too how well the dire would tell her apart from the enemy. She took another glance around the area, just to make sure that was all that was jumping out for the moment... More or less satisfied she began to hum and retrieve the spikes she had shot. "Doo... Oh!" She quickly looked back over at the pair she had at least partially rescued. "Hello! Are you two okay? I heard growling and things so I came over, I've hardly been in any fights before it was exciting!" She announced in a cheerful manner, somewhat breaking the threatening presence she had going... Though during every pause of her speech she continued plucking out bone shards from the corpse in front of her. She didn't seem to care or flinch when she removed them, as if she were just pulling weeds or the like. "Are you okay too? You look like you're bleeding! I've been trained as a healer I could look at it for you, I think I even have some bandages!" The more she spoke, the faster, and more excited her speech was... It sounded like maybe she didn't get to talk to a lot of people... It didn't take long to remove the bone shards either, and once she had gathered them up she began to chew on a few, while others seemed to slowly join into her boney carapace. It was important to keep up her calcium levels, especially since she was younger and didn't have as much of a store as some of the older dragons did. Idly she began to lick some of the blood off of her beak as well, and thankfully the spikes had completely vanished by the time she had finished talking- though for a moment it had seemed like she was about to start talking again before giving them a chance to respond... Thankfully she reconsidered. She had to make sure not to mention that there was a beehive nearby, she was determined to get that all to herself. |

The pair watched the bone dragon start pulling out daggers and eat them, all the while talking to them. She seemed friendly enough, seeing as how she wasn't attacking them, and admitted to coming to their rescue. Sebastian decided to sheath his sword and laid a hand on Rin's head. "Erm, well. Thank you for coming to help. I was beginning to worry I was going to loose a limb or something." He chuckled dryly. He glanced at his shoulder, looking at the semi-deep wound. "Er, well I do have a scratch it looks like. Both watched the dragon curiously. She was so hyperactive, it seemed like. He wondered where her rider was, if she had one, or what had happened. He glanced around again, to make sure there were no more surprises before looking back up at the sky. "But, ah, I was hoping to get to the Tavern before too long for some dinner as well." Rin sat, panting, still calming from the fight, still watching the dragon curiously. |

The bone dragon nearly chittered when he put the sword away, seeming to perk up greatly at that reaction which she very rarely received... If anything people tended to either start pleading for their lives, or draw more weapons when she ran into them in darkening woods. This reaction was so much nicer though! A few happy chirps came from her as she began to rummage into a small saddle, or sling bag on her back. "You're welcome! I don'tgettotalktomanysekkaians!" She said in her progressively more excited speech, before her head whipped back to face them- a roll of bandages around the end of her beak... She darted about half way to him, then skidded to a halt, nearly teetering over forward before she cleared her throat and resumed talking in a more normal speed. "Can I look at your wound? I promise I'll be careful, and I've worked on dozens of humans with way worse wounds!" of course most of her patients were stupid farm workers or the poor... That couldn't afford to go to one of the more 'respectable' doctors in town, or couldn't afford to wait. The fact that they would literally do surgery and such for food, or free occasionally was probably the only reason they got regular customers. The mention of dinner, and the thought of food made her stomach whine slightly, though she ignored it... Though her eyes did dart back towards where she came from for a moment it would have been easy to miss. "Do they let dires in the inn? When I first got here I was small enough but they said animals weren't allowed..." They had really said 'monsters' and some other bad names, but they didn't need to know that fact. |

Sebastian watched as the smaller dragon ran her words together. "Well, er. Sure. Why not. Saves me from listening to my sister nag." He shrugged, and offered the arm out for the small dragon, Rin still by his side, always watching the dragon. Sebastian glanced around, wondering if there was a rider. "Er, Do you have a rider, by any chance?" He might still be nervous around the dragon, but he was certian that if the dragon did turn violent, they'd be able to loose it, if not fight it off--but at this point, it was highly unlikely she would, unless they did. It still didn't mean Rin would drop her guard. He snapped his attention back to her when she asked if they let dires in at the Tavern. "Depends on what breed of Dire, and how busy it is. Sometimes Rin has to wait outside, but mostly I can get her in, if the tavern is large enough." He shrugged. "Also depends if I can convince them nicely or not." He smiled. Rin huffed in slight amusement, sitting on her haunches, her breathing returning to normal. She was just glad that the fighting was over. |

Nazca's wings nearly vibrated when he confirmed that she could look at his wound, which she did immediately upon him finishing that sentence. In a flash, as it seemed many of her actions were, she removed his shirt and any coat he might have been wearing. All the buckles, buttons, or ties were undone with amazing dexterity considering she was much larger than a human... It was about then she paused to answer his other question. "Oh! Yes, she's still in town and feeling kinda icky, I was just out looking for some herbs and hon... err.. fooood." She caught herself, and smiled innocently as she leaned further in to examine the wound. Her somewhat cold bone-beak brushed across his skin just barely as she peered at the cut, she seemed to act as quickly as she spoke though. First she licked the wound, removing a bit of whatever might be there, then she swiped a bit of a bandage with... something that stung on it across the gash, before the painful stinging wore off though he'd have already felt the light prick of a needle or two. "Lucky, I can't even stay in the stables..." she lamented sadly, the hyperactive-ness of her speech dwindling for the moment... It seemed that she had pretty much finished working on his shoulder and arm though, a few stitches where they were needed, and now she was applying a little more salve to a portion of a bandage which was then tied over the gash by wrapping other bandages over it... So at least the outside of the wrappings would be completely dry. It looked pretty professional, especially for having been done outside of an operating room. The bone dragons attention seemed to snap to the dire, to whom she held out a hand somewhat timidly so it could sniff at it, or such before she tried petting it. It had big teeth, and dogs liked chewing on bones she had heard. (she didn't realize this did not mean bone-dragons). "My name is Nazca, good... Umm... Dire-y? Heheh thatsoundslike diary." she offered in an attempt to... Well, who knows, she was probably still just nervous and excited about meeting actual people from the academy who didn't want to bash her skull in repeatedly. |

Sebastian was a little surprised at how fast the dragon worked. It stung a little, but he didn't so much as wince, merely holding his breath. However, he was glad when the stitching was finished (that was a little more painful). "Ah. I see." He rolled his shoulders. At least this time he wouldn't have to go see his sister what so ever. Well, unless he needed the stitches removed. But maybe he could get away with another healer doing it and then not saying anything. He was quick to spot that she had almost said 'Honey.' Not that he was going to go and steal it from her, he just found it slightly amusing. It wasn't worth the effort for him to go try and mess with so many bees for so little honey he'd be able to garner. "Oh. Well..." He trailed off. He wasn't exactly sure what to do here. Would help her getting into a room be a good thing? Or was that pushing it to far. "Some folks don't understand dragons....though you don't look like a breed of dragon I have seen before." True, many dragons inhabited the academy, however of all those he had seen and hung around, he hadn't seen any like her before. Nothing but bone. Rin's ears perked when the dragon started talking at her. when she offered a claw, she hesitantly reached forward to sniff it, before huffing her acceptance. "Nazca, huh? My name is Sebastian and she is Rinalias. Otherwise Known as Rin." He replied, watching the two interact. |

Nazca hummed a little bit, both with her vocal chords as well as emitting the sound from her folded wings which fidgeted slightly. If she didn't have any better self control she probably would have darted off and come crashing back to them just so she could move around. Her restraint was impressive though, and instead she just acted a bit fidgety as she nodded in confirmation. She didn't want to discuss her rider without her present though, not at the moment anyways... So she moved on. "I'm a bone dragon! I escaped when that stupid voice stopped telling us to do bad things.... I wasn't even able to finish training! Itwashorrible... Well, the training was horrible! I'm glad I missed most of it but it was still horrible and... Erm... You get the idea!" She shivered thinking about what she had done there, she had killed at least two or three humans just so they could get through the classes... Personally she didn't care that much, but it had deeply effected her rider...That was the only reason she felt any guilt or sadness about what had been done. She smiled at the dire though and made a somewhat cute squee when it seemed to accept her, though she glanced at Sebastian to make sure that was what the huffing sound meant... Once she was sure, she happily pet the large creature, and scritched behind its ear a little if it'd allow her to. "Hi Rin! It's nice to meet you two, I don't get to talk to many people other than my rider... Even other dragons seem to avoid me..." Her voice warbled a little bit towards the end of that admittance, but after a small sniff she shook her head and smiled again. "You're talking to me though! Some day I hope to get to go to the academy, my rider used to live there but... Umm..." She trailed off for a moment, before her blazingly fast and quiet speech returned with a quick "youknowI'mextaintedright?" she obviously hoped he already knew that and was ignoring it, otherwise her conversation... However one side it was, would likely get cut short. It was pretty hard to read her emotions, though her voice was happy and energetic, the way it would suddenly dip into sadness or betray some form of insecurity told that she was probably trying to put on a braver and more happy face to impress them... She was also pretty young. |

Sebastian wasn't all too surprised when the little dragon said she escaped when the voice stopped. He gave an apologetic smile. "Well, I'm glad that you are out of there yes." He nodded, looking back to Rin. Rin huffed, letting the small dragon scratch her ears. She hadn't done anything threatening to her rider, and outside of being odd for a dragon, she had to give in and let her. It didn't matter the dragon, Rin was always cautious around them. Thanks to his Sisters forest for Stealing him away randomly. ah well. "Yes, I've come to the conclusion that you're extaint." He paused. "You do realize, thought, that you could have your crystal healed. And then you'd be allowed at the Academy." He gave her the information. He didn't know if she knew that already or not. "Though there would be some who wouldn't like it, if the higher ups let you back in, there wouldn't be much they could do about it. Besides. You don't seem the insane twisted type." Sebastian wouldn't stop talking to the dragon just because of her past, as long as she was friendly. And she might be a bit odd and hyperactive, but nothing that was threatening towards them. |

Nazca buzzed her wings happily when he said that he was glad that she was out of there, since that meant he was glad that she was here! Which in turn meant that he liked her company, or at the very least tolerated it... He probably liked her though, maybe, a little bit. She decided to stop trying to analyze the amount of affection he held for her right now, maybe she'd come back to it later. Regardless of what she settled on though, she appeared much more happy than before and was steadily wagging her tail from side to side. ...In her absent mindedness she began to preen the Dire as she eyed Sebastian, as if she were hanging off his every word. The preening might have felt a bit weird to a dire, but it helped clean the fur and she didn't tug on it as some more careless birds might. She was still a little afraid that the dire might try and eat her because she was made out of bones.. "Oh, good... SometimesIgetscaredthatpeopledon'tknowthat." she blurted out rapidly during his pause, though his second sentence made her stare in disbelief... She didn't even seem to recognize what he said after that, or acknowledge it anyways... "THEY CAN DO THAT?!" She spouted, much louder than she intended to, but it was suddenly hard to hold in her excitement over this revelation. "Can you take methererightnow?" she asked as she relinquished preening of the dire to happily circle about the two, her wings buzzing enough that she was hardly touching the ground. Had she been any more excited she probably would have just grabbed Sebastian and flown off towards the academy right then, but thankfully she was too lost in her own happy thoughts to actually take off in that direction right now. "Couldijoinawing?!" She asked as she paused in her...frolicking. "Orworkingtheinfirmary?" ...and then back to the unconstrained excitement and running around. |

Sebastain watched in interest as the dragon just started to preen Rin. Rin, for her part didn't exactly know what to do with the sudden attention being given to her, much less the preening, but she did not snap at the dragon, she allowed it to happen, slowly relaxing more around the dragon that had yet to show her anything but friendliness. With her winter coat coming in, even if the dragon tugged harder than she was, Rin wouldn't have minded. Sebastian chuckled awkwardly, before the dragon suddenly burst out. "Erm, Yes. You would have to see a Karma to do so, but they can mend your crystal. And you'd be allowed at the the Academy. But I also believe your rider has to be present, since you have one." He didn't bother trying to follow the hyper dragon as she fluttered around the pair. He was still unsure what to make of Nazca, other than she was relatively friendly and easily excitable. Rin watched, tense again, but she merely kept close to her person, to make sure the dragon didn't snatch her rider up. Sebastian was able to make out the next questions with little difficulty. "You could join a wing; or work in the infirmary or do both, I believe. Granted; some may not like you there, but they can't stop you if you've been healed and given permission." He blinked when she asked if she could be taken there now. "Well, I suppose, but should we go get your rider as well?" |
