Character Number- 1 (dragon is from the adoptables section) Name- Ryna Calieleven Age- 23 Gender- Female Sexuality- Heterosexual Appearance- Ryna's looks match her outgoing personality. Her hair is very thick, inky black and lustrous, the single physical attribute she inherited from her mother. She generally leaves it hanging long and loose, except for the even line of bangs across her forehead that veil her dark brown eyes. She is fond of wacky and complicated hair styles, however, and enjoys filling her hair with long lines of briads and tying it up in odd, looping ways. Many times she will incorporate objects into it, such as feathers or sometimes a thin golden chain or a bright red handkerchief. She is incredibly creative and talented in this respect. Ryna is very feminine in her fashion sense and has a deep love of jewelry. She often has myriad necklaces draped around her neck and numerous bracelets adorn her arms. Anklets and rings also find their places on her body from time to time. However, she is very tasteful with her use of jewelry. She always makes sure that all of the accessories match her outfit and the other pieces of hewelry she wears. Going along with her sense of extravagence, Ryna has had her crystal which matches Zar's imbedded into her skin--in the center of her forehead. Unfortunately for her, Ryna is very short, just barely over five feet in height--and this is the one thing she hates about herself. Her mother used to remark that she is so fiery in personality so that people don't notice her height. And it seems to work: many people who aren't strong in self esteem are often intimidated by Ryna upon first meeting her, before they learn that there is some compassion buried beneath the energy and anger. As for clothes, Ryna is very fond of colors, hence another reason she was ecstatic when Zar hatched. She loves how bright and vibrant her dragon is, and is immensely pleased that his scales match her hair. Her clothes are many and varied, and contain all colors in the spectrum, except brown, because she won't wear such a common color and she does not want to match the ground. She especially enjoys wearing colorful clothes in the winter, when all of the world is one color and she will stand out that much more. Ryna enjoys choosing clothes that compliment Zar's scales, such as a bright yellow blouse or deep green trousers or a sky blue shirt. Nearly everything she owns is some bright color, and many times she will buy something she doesn't need just because it is such a pretty color. She loves eye catching things, and sparkly things catch her eyes like nothing else. She can also be especially ruthless in judging other people's clothing. Personality- Ryna has a personality fiery enough for both dragon and rider. Tough-as-nails, jet black hair, and an expressive face are her most obvious qualities--but everything about Ryna is obvious. She does not even know that the word 'subtle' exists. She's a firecrackers, doesn't take insults, and shoots her mouth off too often. She's explosive, in both laughter and anger, though usually in a good mood. She sometimes appears to have mood swings and she's very vocal with her thoughts. Ryna is a very social person and has to get out and talk to people daily; if she is cooped up in her room something is very wrong. In truth, she is very mischievous and often likes to tease or prank people, sometimes by pretending to be angry with them, then grinning and laughing at their confusion. She also has no sense of personal space, often patting shoulders or seizing people in hugs or even sneaking up behind them and poking/pinching people to scare them. This is especially obvious when she is attracted to someone and is flirting. Normally she only does this to people she knows or has been introduced to, though occasionally not. She means it all in good fun, however. Ryna can be serious, however. She isn't naive, and she can be sympathetic. She often grows fond of people she perceives as looking up to her or needing mothering, and she is incredibly loyal to and defensive of her friends, especially her dragon. Ryna has started fights before, and she doesn't let size or strength or authority even phase her. In this manner she is terribly reckless, but this doesn't mean she's stupid. She may swoop down to defend a friend, but she won't, for example, jump off a cliff if all her friends did or wander into Taint land looking for adventure. The Taint scares the living daylights out of her and is the only thing that tempters her fire. Behind her loud voice and fast temper, she does think about a lot of things, even if she isn't overly knowledgeable about the world. Sometimes it isn't apparent why Zar chose her, when she seems to have exactly the opposite personality as him. In truth, however, they have quite a few things in common. Both of them have amazing attention to detail, and they are both talkative--and they are both very prideful, if in different ways. Carrying on a conversation with both of them at once can be discouraging, as they both love to talk and often exchange remarks with each other and even complete each other's sentences, completely in tandem and harmony. While they may argue in private, they act like the complete each other in public, Ryna because arguing looks bad, Zar because it attracts attention. And, because they are bonded, they do complete each other. The two of them do love each other immensely, even if they haven't learned how to express it yet. Rank- History- Ryna was born in the city of Lihn, to a wealthy merchant and his wife, Reliel and Shalira. She is a middle child, with an older and a younger brother. Unfortunately, however, she has inherited her mother's personality as nearly as one can, and the two of them are often at odds with each other, which led to her feeling isolated in her own house--since she never had to share a room with her siblings--and so she turned outward to friendships in society to find companionship and understanding. However, she has discovered that her vivaciousness, strength, and beauty attract people to her, and she has learned the hard way that some of these people aren't trustworthy. This is one of the reasons she wanted to bond to a dragon: for constant, trustworthy companionship. So, despite having lots of friends and being outgoing, Ryna actually keeps a lot of personal information close to herself. She may be loyal to her friends, but her own secrets rarely come out. Ryna grew up in the heart of the city, and she is a city girl in every sense of the word. While her family wasn't strictly rich, they made enough money to live comfortably, and had enough for Ryna to indulge herself, which unfortunately has given her a bit of a selfish streak. Even to this day they give her nice gifts and send her money. Sometimes people wonder how she can be a dragonrider, but she's as stubborn as the Taint, and when she puts her mind to something she will do it. Seeing the suffering of others is reaching her. She gives away quite a bit of her money, even if she makes sure to buy the things she wants first. Zar has also felt the effects of this, in more comfortable things in their quarters and a very nice harness, not to mention that Ryna is always trying to put jewelry on him. Ryna's decision to leave her family and go to the Academy was the one she thought the most about in her young life, and it had several factors. Firstly was her wish for a constant companion. Secondly was a wish to see the world; at that point she had never been beyond the city's walls. And thirdly, it was the ultimate rebellion against her mother. Having her mother's personality and being guarded she closely by her growing up, she felt as if her mother was firmly guiding her life to fulfill her mother's dreams--which was true, and she resented it. Her move the Academy was not strictly sanctioned by her parents; they did not know about it for almost an entire day, but as she was of an adult age, there was little they could do to stop her. For a while their relationship was very stressed, especially between her and her mother, but in the end tempers slowly cooled and her father even came to see her. It wasn't until after she bonded to Zar, however, that her mother realized this was what her daughter wanted for her life and accepted that there was no going back now and the two began speaking again. Pet(s)- None The Dragon ![]() Name- Zar Age- Mature Gender- Male Element- Fire Appearance- Zar is on the small side of the scale for a fire dragon, measuring at only barely 90 feet long and twenty feet high at the shoulder, although usually he seems even shorter because he tries to crawl along the ground. Zar is glad of this because he tries to make himself as small as possible to avoid being seen; Ryna is glad of this because of her own diminutive height. As it is, she has worked out a way to get on and care for Zar; were he any bigger she would be constantly frustrated, although sometimes she wishes he was a little forest or rosemary instead. The one thing she does love about him being one of the medium sized dragons is his power and agility in the air. Zar’s scales work against his personality. His colouring makes him look like that of a fading ember from a hot fire of cold, windy nights. Varying from golden yellow on top to a deep red on his belly, his scales are all very vivacious, eye-catching colors. His base color is a fiery orange, but his muzzle, tail and lower legs are an ashy gray-black color. The tip of his tail is rather club-like, with five or six spikes on each side that point back towards his body. The fire dragon is also very lithe and narrow, which gives him his agility, but his wings are very long and thin, letting him catch a good amount of air to power him forward. With a thick, powerful neck underneath a triangular head his horns arch back with his crystal curling around the base of his top left horn. It is shaped like that of a waning moon and is of a yellowish hue. While he is very sleek, his scales are very hard, and plated, and very smooth, such that his rider is at risk of sliding off him if not wearing their harness. Along his back, from his head to midway down his tail are yellow spikes; in sets of two his other horns follow the length of his spine down his back. His talons are also this color, as are the pair of slightly curved horns sprouting from the top of his head. Even his eyes are brightly colored: a green-blue mixture that delights his rider. His wings are the only part of him not covered in plates; they are bat-like and very velvety to the touch, and the large joint of each has a finger and claw. Zar is very good at folding them flat against his side to make himself look even more inconspicuous. He is all edges and spikiness. From the hatching:
Personality- Zar uses his is long and thin body to slink around from place to place to avoid attention. He tries to put his foot down and refuse to go places with his rider, trying to stay curled up in his fiery quarters, but she knows him too well and he is too young to be happy being grumpy and cooped up for long, though he will not be a dragon to anger when he is old. His rider has changed quite a bit since bonding him; she often agrees to go places where no one else is. Zar usually ends up following her around anyway, being the attentive dragon he is, he does want to be a gentleman even if he will never succeed, although sometimes he stalks her from a distance, not trusting anyone with his rider save himself. He even tries to hide behind her sometimes, pressing his forehead to her back. It is amazing how much of his body he can make disappear. His rider just thinks he is cute and doesn’t understand his worries. Zar, however, isn’t a shy dragon; he quite happily speaks his mind, especially if he perceives someone as a threat to his standing with his rider. This is, of course, something that can never be in danger, but he is very self conscious of his shortcomings and gets defensive very easily. Most of the time, this occurs when she begins to flirt with another young man. Zar is determined to be the only male in her life—he would prefer the only one, period—but his rider hasn’t quite figured this out yet. He has chased off a couple of suitors now. When one on one with someone, it is rather easy for him to say scalding things. Zar is a good listener, when you can actually get his attention, which means it’s usually only his rider who sees that side of him. He loves giving advice although it is not always of the right type. He seems like the misunderstood one, easily distracted unless something is really important. Always trying to avoid others gaze, he does not like to be the center of attention, if he is he will hide/cry/die. He especially hates it when he thinks he has hidden himself behind something only for his brilliant coloring to give him away, or when he forgets about his tail and flicks it. As he gets older, however, he is becoming better and better at disguising himself, learning to sit among things that are the same colors are himself and to stay still. A very talkative little one, Zar always has a conversation in hand, his keen hearing quick to pick up on changes in voice or discrepancies. Sometimes, however, he does not know when to keep his mouth shut, much like his rider, which can get him into a lot of trouble, not fully able to understand what the consequences could be for unwanted actions. If something happens he doesn't like he can become sulky and babyish. His occasional tempers are the reason his rider herself has changed so much; she’s learned that it is better to avoid them, especially now that he is full grown. Fantastic! Good to see him going back to activity! I'm sorry it took so long to see the profile. I'd just ask two things: First, It would be very hard to embed a crystal in a human's forehead and, medically, unless it was covered by skin, it would likely be a source of constant pain and infection. D:! Perhaps she could wear it as part of a circlet? :DD! Second, I'd like to ask you to flesh out the history between them more. How did she feel when she bonded? Did she expect him? How did they get along? How were lessons? They're old enough that they would have fought in the trail end of the war aswell, so, how was the fighting for them? Were they injured? By this time, Zar would be 6 years old. Thank you! -Kess |
