Blair seeing Pan and being overjoyed!

Of course it was hard for Blair to shower her twin in much affection as he already had his hands full with this rowdy young pup. But Blair could not help but respect her and be charmed by her. She would make a fine addition to the group! She nuzzled Byrn happily “You got a good one too my love!” She went in for a kiss but froze when a scent hit her nose. One very familiar and so sudden after a second her head whipped up to seek out its source.

Her eyes found Pan almost immediately. Not as she remembered him, but him all the same. His long locks had been cut away and he looked as if he had gained some muscle and shape to some of his features, but she would know that scent and those eyes anywhere. ‘Pan??” She gasped out before handing Byrn what meat she was still holding and turning away right before his new pup got rowdy.

“Pan!!” She cried out happily and bounded to him. Oh, Blair did not forget however, and she stopped herself a couple feet away from him before he could become too off-put. But she was trembling in excitement before him. “Pan! Oh Pan you’re alright…oh look at you!” She smiled and slowly extended her hands to him to be sure he was alright with a greeting. Carefully and with a warm smile she gently took his hands in hers and gave them a gentle squeeze. She beamed at the contact that she was all too grateful and flattered that he allowed. But she wanted to try something else to show him just how happy she was to see him.

Her eyes pleaded with him that she meant no harm as she came a little closer and she cooed at him as she had in the past when she was greeting him and while still holding his hands ever so carefully, touched her forehead to his as they had at the last Tainted gathering they had together. She knew damn well he would not let many if any others do this and she held this sign of trust close to her heart. Her look and voice softened now “Oh Pan, I was so worried about you. I’ve missed you so much!” She said so soft it was almost a whisper. This may look intimate to outsiders but to Blair and Pan, this was their equivalent to a big hug or warm embrace. Well, it certainly was to Blair. She purred softly to show her contentment to see her friend again.

Not wanting to push it, she gently pulled away and beamed at him again. “Oh pan I am so happy to see you! And your hair…” She wanted to touch it but held back for now “It actually looks really good hun! I like it!” She smiled but then playfully slapped herself “Oh jeeze where are my manners I am sorry dear, there’s plenty of meat if you wanna try and join the others in pup wrangling! But after words I’d love to hear about what you have been up to!”

Yorek watching Blair before his attention is on Byrn dealing with his new Cerberus

The young man watched as Blair suddenly exploded away from the group to run to another youth who had approached. Ah it seemed she knew this one well enough, but an eyebrow did rise at their greeting. Ah, well Bolrock had explained that of the Trio, Blair had the most friends it seemed and was very outgoing and well, friendly despite her dark side. Hell she was even friendlier to him, he just wondered why she did not just hug him.

The sound of commotion behind him took his attention and Yorek watched amused as Byrn struggled to control his new pet and keep the peace between she and DarDanos. Wow, two cerberi! That was impressive! Especially since one was clearly and Alpha. He just hoped it would be friendly enough, DarDanos was actually quite the sweetheart if he liked you. He smiled as Byrn named her, it seemed fitting to the female somehow.

"Well, Yorek, I was not expecting this, I just am probably either not going to hear the end of it from my sister or my dragon....."

At this Yorek laughed “Oh Byrn I don’t think you need to worry about Blair. You know how she is with animals. Hell she all but set me and that Marlowe fellow up for choosing. But we will see if my luck is as good as yours or his eh?” He paused looking about “You know, I gotta say, I am glad I am here. There may be blood and chaos, but I am with you guys and well…I love it! Gods help me, I love it!”

With the strung bow clamped firmly in twin maws, the slippery cerberus wove artfully through the crowd, its third head keeping tabs on the stolen artifact’s pursuing owner. The sport of impromptu keep-away seemed to incite the man to nearly catatonic levels, which was fuel to the little demon’s fire. Mischief and crafted chaos was the name of this pup’s game, it seemed. For all of Gareth’s attempts to corral and threats to disembowel, the beast’s trio of scaled, spaded tails merely whisked to and fro faster. This two-legged creature sure was fired up, and all over a special stick it had so smugly stole under the human’s lackluster nose! What a prize!

The hellhound had slowed to a halt for a second time, dropping the bow as bait to keep the man engaged in the scamp’s competition as it settled into a hunched crouch, prepared to snatch the curved weapon and spring away for a third time once Gareth had gained enough ground. Every step closer seemed to glean more malevolent wiliness within the dark, near-black eyes of the hound. The furious person was four feet away. Now three. Two, and-!

A jolt of pain shot through the pup, causing him to yelp with a start as instincts churned his limbs, driving him away from the source of shocking trauma without a backwards glance towards the bow or of what ailed him. He simply ran, the small points of puncture marks along one of his tails blooming with red globules when he slowed to assess the damage and lick his wound. Shaking his three heads in an attempt to rally, the whelp took stock of his new neighbors, seeking out another source of hectic harassment with which he could engage.

Another large man caught his eye, the meat in his relaxed hand seemingly forgotten as he spoke with another two-legged creature. With tongues lolling smugly, the pup trotted over with all the swagger of an apex predator, leaping to snag fangs within the juicy morsel and remove it from the hand’s grasp in one fell swoop. He landed in a play bow with long, heavy limbs splayed wide. Wiry, stormy gray coat bristled in anticipation with his tasty prize clamped in his jaws as scruffy muzzles followed the tall man’s every move. Let the new game begin!

Meanwhile, a smaller form approached the abandoned bow. The blood that had begun to dry on one long, stark white muzzle stood out dramatically as the little avenger skittishly assessed the strange weapon for any sign of worth to the silent cerberus. A quick shake ruffled the thick white coat of the beast, a paw carefully extending to nudge the strange object. She then took to circling the carved creation with a trio of snuffling pink noses. It took several minutes for the creature to assert that it did not appear to be a threat to its own wellbeing.

Finally, the hellhound scooped up the bow and prowled before Gareth, dropping the man’s weapon at his feet with no brutish worrying at the wood as her sibling would have eventually done. Her ghostly pale eyes looked up expectantly, their frosty blue irises marking her as a true albino in conjunction with her nose and paw pads being devoid of pigment. A soft, barely audible rumbling growl gurgled in her triplet throats and echoing down in her belly. She had retrieved his stick for him, now it was time he repaid his debt to her as was only proper. Or if he chose otherwise, he’d have to pay her vicious fine of teeth and talons.

Pan focusing on Blair, mostly ignoring the puppies for now
Panahasi winced as his actual name was used. It had been a long time since he had contact outside of the little two tone griffin, who was nowhere in sight, and the hulking metal giant who so carefully guarded his precious kills. Zesiro occasionally piped a few words, but it was hardly conversation. The intense chatter of all these voices was near overwhelming after so long apart. He observed the group in silence, offering no greeting, until Blair came bounding to him like an excited dog.

His whole body tensed unintentionally and the fingers of his good hand stretched towards his dragon bone hilt of his blade. It took conscious will but he stayed his hand. She was one of the few people who understood him and she had cared for him more than once in a way no one else had ever bothered. When she took up his hands he accepted it, both bloody with their various hunts. His near missing hand sat strangely in her grasp but he did not withdraw it as he might have early in his bonded life. He was accustomed to the stunted limb now with its missing digits. Her brow pressed to his and he breathed in the air of her breath in the single most intimate example of any contact he allowed. Most could not even touch him without chancing danger to their person.

“I apologies for my absence.” He said quietly yet with their heads bowed in conference it would not be missed. “Glaive saw fit to avoid others until he had grown. I do not have much choice in his actions.” He began to withdraw and she took the cue perfectly, pulling her brow from his and unwound her hands from his. His eyes turned to Glaive where he hunkered, lips pulled back revealing jagged teeth as sharp as his temper. “He has not changed.” The statement was calm, but there was a spark of defiance still in him that burned behind those dark eyes.

His attention swung back to Blair and he examined her. “My hair was a necessary sacrifice. It was becoming too long to be… safe.” He said with care. He had to ponder the word he chose, because there were many reasons he had removed his hair. He shifted the cloak of dripping skin, its silver and blue feathers flashing and he tugged at the bit of metal that had bonded to his skin. It was irritating him already, but it did not move. Until he could access his smaller knife back in the cave he called home, well this blasted thing would remain about his throat.

“I see your… family… has grown again.” He commented idly, trying to behave as if he had never been gone. It was easier then talking about the year confined to the wilds alone. A year trapped with no companionship, save Glaive. It had been brutal and he had seen horrors he did not wish to describe. There was brutality in him, but none as keen as that of his dragon.

Gallifrey observing.
  • Gallifrey watched the scene in front of him, Marlowe and Blair swarming around the cerberi puppy that apparently decided it wanted to stay with the dark haired man. Marlowe was more reserved then Blair, but by this point Gale realized that the other male was not prone to jumping around for joy or squealing like an excited girl. All the same, it was amusing to see Blair become so excited while she had a pheonix that kept her from getting a pup of her own. From what he had seen, people with pheonixes did not tend to have multiple pets. The birds were territorial.

Gale frowned, sitting down heavily with a sigh as he thought back to his own pet. The albino python had been left behind when he was taken, and he worried dearly for him. The snake had eaten a big meal and shed his skin before Gale left the day he was kidnapped, so the snake had a few more days of being completely fine in his tank. Gale chewed on the knuckle of his thumb as he thought of the snake slowly starving till the inn owner came in for the rent, maybe setting Casanova free, or maybe killing the large snake on the spot. He needed to get home.

Gale looked at the swarm of pups, watching them snap, roll, and wrestle each other, occassionally breaking away to accept offerings of food from the humans gathered, or to steal and mess with their heads. Like the pup that ran around with a bow, only to have it taken by a stunning white cerberi pup. The white pup returned it to the man that had been chasing the first pup, and that pup ran off to bond to another man.

He wondered what drove the pups to choosing who they did, since it didn't appear to just be food considering that the man with the albino hadn't been offering any.

Yorek meeting his new mischievous Hellhound and realizing he’s officially a Tainted boy now

Later on Yorek would scold himself for letting his guard down in a place like this. Granted, a puppy, even a three headed one did not seem like a huge threat. But when one of three mouths of needle sharp puppy teeth suddenly went for meat in your hand, it was hard not to become startled. Indeed Yorek let out a bit of a yelp at the sensation before he turned to see the creature before him.

Three heads or not, it was a familiar shape. Yorek remembered seeing similar hounds in his life. Tall strong beasts they were and superb hunters. This one bore resemblance to older versions of the breed, scruffy coat but not as much facial fur on the muzzle as most, though under his chins had a little scruff. “Well hello there” Yorek said gently, holding back a laugh. This one was in full play pose position. His leggy form promised that indeed he would be a tall one, possibly taller than many of his kind. But at the moment, he was a willowy scruffy pup and Yorek was charmed. Even by the wagging scaly spaded demonic tails.

“Okay okay let’s try something eh?” He said preparing to toss a chunk of meat in the air but stopping to tear it into three pieces to be fair. “Think you can catch?” He asked and suddenly tossed all three chunks up. Six dark eyes widened and stared upward before the willowy legs pushed the puppy up in an undeniably adorable hop and each head snapped at its own piece of meat. Yorek nodded approval at the perfect catches. “Very good!” He did it again and once more the pup’s heads all caught their own chunk. Demonic tails wagging furiously.

Now it seemed the pup was even more excited and with yips it tackled Yorek playfully hoping for a wrestling match. Luckily Yorek was ready and was able to maneuver and coax the wriggling thing onto it’s back before rubbing at the soft belly. Immediately the leg began to kick and tongues began to loll. Yorek couldn't help but laugh. Soon the heads were licking at him and Yorek had to work to calm down his new companion. “Easy now there. Okay well it seems you’ve made your choice, so let’s make this official eh?”

A little tired with his panting but still wanting to play, the pup rolled about comically and Yorek watched “Well, you may not ACT like it, but you look the part of a legendary Hellhound yes? Let’s work with that. Something demonic..but clever” At this the pup rolled back to a normal position and stared at Yorek with dark but alert and intelligent eyes. ‘Hmm, Shuck is too cliche for me, Hades is too sinister…” he pondered as the scaly tails whipped about excitedly “Hey, how about Barbas?” He asked. At this the six ears perked in interest, when Yorek repeated the name, Barbas yipped happily and hopped up again in what sure as hell seemed like approval. “Very well, Barbas it is” he said rubbing at all the ears of his new life companion.

It was then it hit him. It was extremely unlikely that the Academy would let him back in with a Cerberus (Well, perhaps, with how friendly this one seemed. But still not exactly with open arms) While there was a sadness there, it was not painful. Surely he could see Marice again, she was friends with his family after all. He continued to pet Barbas who was now nuzzling against him feverishly “Well there buddy, looks like I’m stuck, but that’s ok, you needed me. You’re too sweet to be in with the wrong type. Though I can still tell there is some demon in you yet” He fed Barbas some more meat and suddenly wondered that if he indeed bonded to a dragon of the Tainted legion if it would be as good a fit. He prayed it would be.

Linnet exploring a bit

After a few moments, the pup seemed to decide that either Linnet herself was being rude or she was too dangerous to approach. In either case, the three headed creature retreated and left Linnet alone again. Shrugging, she got up and stretched her legs. Sitting with them folded under her tended to make them ache.

Nibbling, she exited her little corner. Oddly, the pup was not far away as yet. Linnet walked up behind it and stood looking down. Realizing she was too close for comfort, the pup bolted, and Linnet followed at a trot, not close enough that the creature could turn on her without due warning, but near enough to keep it in sight. She was curious where this spirit would take her. Clearly it wanted her to follow it, since it had waited to run until she had joined it.

Though she followed, her bag thumping its comforting cadence on her leg, she kept an eye on her surroundings. She had noticed on her trip around the edges that everyone at this party seemed to be armed. Heavily armed. It made her uneasy, used as she was to loneliness marred only by the occasional villagers. Nithian, too, had been well-armed (not that he needed it, with his Wolf Spirit Friend to guard him), but she had been at ease with him. These people set her on edge for some reason. Most did not look friendly.

Her mocasin-clad feet took turns with grace. Running through crowds of people was oddly similar to the birch forests. Though, of course, the trees had never shifted as she ran through them. A few voices called out to her, but she ignored them. She had no friends in this place, and would make none, she sensed.

For a moment, she lost sight of the puppy she was following and stumbled, cursing softly. Oddly, she was in a clearing of people. A few were before her. A young man, with a three-headed dog of his own. A young woman stood a short distance away, talking with a man. Nearby was a man, clearly related to the woman, who seemed to have two of the odd canines, though one was clearly older than all those she had seen thus far.

She cast about for the spirit-pup she had been following, but could find no sign of it. Perhaps she had not been worthy of its lessons after all. She sighed, then approached the first young man. Perhaps he could tell her more of this new spirit. She had never seen its like before. What would its talismans be good for?

"Excuse me, sir," she began, bowing first to him, then to the puppy he was playing with. "Spirit. Might I ask a question of you?"

Something about the puppy seemed odd (beyond even the three heads and three scaled tails), but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

While the rest were content to run amok, there was one of the cerberus pups who merely welcomed himself to observe. Sitting like a three-headed statue upon a large rock jutting up from the dirt, he held silent vigil over the throngs of drunken party-goers and excitable escaped pups. Some of them were finding food amongst the strange two-legged creatures, while others saw fit to torment them, stealing their possessions and leading them on grand chases through the crowd. Not him. Knowing exactly the situation one was in, where one rested on the food chain, and how to escape if necessary was ultimate when it came to survival. He had learned this at the jaws of the dominant female he'd been crammed into the cage with along with all the other pups. He'd watched more than one of his brother's die at her jaws during their weaning.

Sharp, golden eyes took in his surroundings before he noticed a curious young woman that piqued his interest. Nothing could say exactly why he chose that moment and that person to abandon his observance of the party, but he had, slinking silently off of his rock. Fur the color of clay, tree bark, and sand made him almost invisible against the backdrop of gnarled trees and scrub grass that bordered the lakefront. He stalked cautiously, rounding the group the woman had gone to, coming up behind her so he couldn't be seen. Curiously, the puppy lowered its angular heads and sniffed at her moccasined heels.

One head yipped while the center one nipped surprisingly gently at the woman's calf to get her attention. It wasn't food the tawny pup seemed to want, however, just attention. He whined and pawed at her foot, swinging his scaled tails back and forth vigorously.

Yorek responding to Linnet...and her new pup!

Wow this little guy was a handful. Well, little was a bit inaccurate as he was far larger than a pup of any normal dog. But luckily Barbas seemed to love Yorek’s rough yet careful and loving playing methods. Again he began to pant and so Yorek tried to calm him “Easy easy Barbas you need to take a breather, here we’ll get you some water…soon as we find some that is not spiked with something” Barbas laid down but then his ears all perked and he lifted his heads to look over to someone approaching.

Yorek was a bit surprised to suddenly see a girl coming towards them. His eyes shifted to Blair, praying she would not become aggressive but luckily there was no real reason for her to be just yet. Barbas stood sniffing at the newcomer in front of Yorek as if to make sure she understood he was his human but he was curious if the girl wanted to play.

"Excuse me, sir. Spirit. Might I ask a question of you?"

Yorek at first wasn't sure what to say but Barbas yipped and it brought him back. “Oh, certainly! What would you like to know?” He was about to go on but he then caught the sight of another puppy approaching quietly. This one, like Barbas seemed different. He looked like a wild breed like DarDanos, and unlike Barbas, he seemed calm and quiet. The young pup gently nipped and pawed at her and Yorek smiled.

“Well, maybe first you can deal with your new companion. Here” he said tossing her a chunk of meat “He is beautiful too” He added and Barbas gave Yorek a whimper. Yorek quickly appeased him with small bits of meat as well. Barbas then laid down plopping his head on Yorek’s lap. The young man stoked down the Cerberi’s back but watched charmed as the girl met her own. “So, any names coming to mind?” He asked with a smile.

Just as his scrappy sister had risen and discounted their quarrel, he too seemed instantly discard her absence as she trotted away towards the enticing smell of flesh being waved about. He however was less whimsically lured. He sneered at his sibling as she gobbled down meat from the stranger, lips curling up in disgust at her easily won bond with the first fool to fling scraps her way. He would be more particular, would take only the best underling should he find one suitable to his tastes. Like a king surveying his court, he prowled about in wide circles, three heads swiveling in keen awareness to all surrounding him. A few ankles were even marked with the wide clasp of his jaws closing upon them for the few unfortunates that strayed too near.

The predatory gait was markedly more lengthened and low-slung than his scavenging sibling, corded muscle standing out in stark contrast to the shorter pelt that covered his figure. Colored in muted tawny that lightened to a grayed cream along his stomach and inner thighs, he would have looked nothing special if it weren’t for the viciously cut, tigerish strips rending along his hindquarters and stopping just short of his shoulders and forelegs, leaving his front with an unbroken palette save for the darkening around each of the three muzzles.

Those muzzles were the points of peculiarity. Each head held aloft by sinuously thickened neck was prehistorically enlarged, disproportionate to his body but sufficiently terrifying on their own right. The row of fangs held by each hyper-extended maw were the true source of his superior strength, capable of cracking thickened dragon bones of smaller specimens as easily as toothpicks.

At last he seemed to tire of his own dawdling, having seen enough of the drunkards that had tried in vain to call his powerful form to their sides. Bribes were below one of his status. To gain his respect, he and he alone would administer the pact of a companionship. So it was that after watching his sister snarl at a more matured cerberus, he snorted indignantly, and padded quietly to the side of a man preoccupied with attempting to gain command of his own heated feelings towards his tyrannical dragon nearby. The hellhound settled stiffly by Pan’s side, snuffing aloofly up at the human.

Yes. He would do.

A glance at the older girl. That was interesting. Was that girl the leader of his group? Though he seemed more worried than anything. Odd. The girl ignored them, though, continuing with her own conversation.

Barbas' message was clear to Linnet, and it made her smile. She meant no harm to his human, she only wanted to ask about this new brand of spirit. Though they looked and sounded like other canine-spirits she knew, their language was different, also.

"Thank you, sir." He seemed friendly enough, but before she could continue, she felt a gentle nip to her calf and turned around. There was another of the three-headed creatures, eyeing her with a mixture of curiosity and demand. The whining paw was not misunderstood, and she chuckled at this.

Scratching the creature's central head with one hand, she ran the other over its shoulder and legs. Though she offered this one the piece of meat that the boy had given her, it seemed disinterested. Perhaps it had already gorged on scraps. Tawny fur and black guard hairs made for a variegated fur, the type that would help the creature blend with the scrubby environment that was around them. It would stand out dangerously in the forests she was used to, though.

"Now, aren't you a handsome spirit?" she asked softly, switching hands to scratch the other heads as well. She would hate for them to feel left out. Would they feel left out? "Have you something to teach me? Or would you like to be my friend?"

The young man's words caught her attention again.

"Companion? Name? It is but a spirit come to say hello. Why should I name it? I am sure it has a name of its own that it goes by. The one that you look to surely has a name. Why impose upon it another?"

((She has been sufficiently side-tracked from her original question. XD))

Gale sitting and getting bit by the Hyaenodon Cerberus
  • Gale continued sitting where he was as the pups divided up to look at the humans who had gathered and offered them food. Sitting there watching them find partners and the humans talk amongst themselves, the whore actually felt quite lonely. He missed his home in Lihn, even missed his job, and certainly missed his sister.. though he wondered if she had even noticed he was gone by this point or if she would care. In her eyes he was as bad as their mother, possibly the worst person to be compared to in all of Sekkai.

Gale continued chewing on the knuckle of his thumb as he pondered, letting his eyes linger on Marlowe's black and brown cerberi. It was small now but would soon grow to monstrous size, even for a lithe specimen, and if he wanted out the escape would have to be before then. When they got home, he would have to be clever about getting out of the castle, maybe slipping away while Marlowe was distracted by Blair and his pup. If he left then, he should be able to reach Lihn in a few days, less if he finds a dragon willing to take him there.

If he needed money, it was easy enough to come by. Sex always sells, even if he had to lower the prices in order to make money quickly.

Gale suddenly yelped when a pup with stripes on its hindquarters passed by him and must have thought him to close and nipped him on the leg, calling his mind back to reality with a jolt of pain that had him glaring at the pup as it walked away to sit with someone else, rubbing the bite on his leg and hissing several curses. He wanted to go home, why was he being held prisoner by a woman threatening to eat him if he displeases a man who clearly only saw him as a lab rat instead of a whore?

Yorek being a tad confused by this newcomer

When the girl answered his question, Yorek blinked in uncertainty of how to respond. He even looked at Barbas who he swore actually shrugged at him. He watched her as she interacted with the young canine and scratched his neck.

Well, Yorek was not one to criticize one's beliefs unless they actually affected others to certain degrees but this kinda butted heads with science. For goodness sake she was physically touching the Cerberus. "Uh....While I do respect your ways whatever they may be, this is a gathering with a bonding of Cerberus puppies. That pup there is a Cerberus and it has chosen you as its bonded"

As if backing him up, Barbas barked and wagged his tails. The shaggy pup trotted forward to sniff his coyote bretherin. Already Brabas was hopping about him yipping playfully bouncing about like there was a spring in his rear. "But it is a great honor having one choose you if that helps. Perhaps the spirits had their hand in that"

Yorek had always been interested in spiritual beliefs as there were just so many. He even joined Blair in her sky gazing sessions to ponder the universe. "Anyway, speaking of names, I am Yorek. I'm sorry I was sidetracked, you had a question for me earlier?"

Barbas had already bounded off and dragged back a stick he was now dragging about as he ran around the coyote Cerberus pup trying to entice him to play.

Blair with Pan before he finds his own bond

She had missed his smell and his presence. And really she was giddy and thrilled he allowed their contact to still happen as limited as it was, it meant the world to her as she treasured their friendship. She heard every word even with any background noise.

"Oh sweetheart it's alright!" She answered back just as soft "I was just worried because of Glaive. But if you two have learned to coexist I will feel more at ease but..." She glanced in the distance at the Metal "I can imagine indeed that he has not changed" She said with a slightly bitter tone "Just so long as he never hurts you" Her eyes expressed her honest emotion of worry and care.

She continued to coo as they parted. The last contact was her fingers gently caressing his maimed hand lovingly. Briefly she wondered if anything could be made for him to have some use of it back at all. If so she would have it done!

"Oh it has grown indeed. We took in Bolrock's brother and I now have a better half in Marlowe over there. In truth I was away from Byrn and Bolrock for quite some time looking for a new home. Which I found! I'd love to show it to you hun, and of course you are welcome to stay there any time!" She smiled with her offer, hoping she could indeed offer him a safe haven to go if he ever needed or wanted it!

Of course then the most interesting looking pup yet suddenly sat beside her friend. "Well, that went well" She laughed "He is gorgeous! Congratulations dear!" She was thrilled, Pan now had another guardian by his side. Hell, this one would rival her when he was grown!

Linnet talking with Yorek and naming her pup

Yorek's confusion was plain and that, naturally, confused Linnet. What about her words had not made sense? Though, she had encountered worse than confusion when she started 'talking like a Druid,' as some people had called it. It had also been called crueler things. And this lad was polite enough about it.

"Ah, are you called a Cerberus, then, young friend?" Linnet asked, smiling at the yellow canid. It yipped quietly when she stopped scratching it, and the young Druid laughed. "Your pardon, Cerberus Spirit."

She resumed her scratching and petting, listening politely as he introduced himself.

"Oh, your pardon, Yorek. I am Linnet Ravensilver." she replied, bowing from her kneeling position.

Her staff, strapped as it was on her back, slid under the pup's triple tails and knocked him comically onto his three faces. A chorus of annoyed yipping howls accompanied the scrambling of clawed paws. Linnet immediately put a hand to either side of the pup.

"Easy, Maelgwyn," she said softly, and the pup settled to stillness. "I apologize for my clumsiness. My staff sometimes gets caught on things."

Leaning down as she was, it was easy for the pup to reach up and lick her face with his central head, tails lashing in delight. A giggle later, Linnet realized that she had, after all, named the pup.

"And forgive my arrogance, Cerberus spirit, for naming you." The pup growled softly, and she paused. "Unless you like the name, of course. It comes from a story the Keeper told me once..."

The pup licked her face with all three heads this time, and she laughed again.

"Then I shall continue to call you that, if it be your wish." She reached over her shoulder to remove her totem-staff and settled it on the ground beside her so that it wouldn't trip her new spirit-friend again. Then she returned to Yorek. "I was going to ask you of these creatures, actually. I have never seen the like, and I enjoy learning of all new spirits I meet. You have given me their name. Could you tell me more? Or direct me to one who might?"

Pan talking with Blair and being chosen by a rather remarkable pup

Panahasi watched her fingers trail over the stumped remains of his left hand with indifference. “Survival is all I seek. Coexistence with him is a pipe dream.” He stood stiffly and his hands clasped behind his back in old habits of servitude. The group was too large for his liking, her family quickly becoming too broad for him. He was a solitary creature at heart and while he could hold a conversation like this with Blair, the others made him uneasy. Still he felt the need to reassure her and he touched the dragonbone hilt of his magical blade. “Do not worry for me. Rustbringer keeps Glaive from most assaults. I think he sees me useful which is as much as I can hope.”

The lad ran his fingers through his hair and stared at the gathered people then gave a subtle shrug of his shoulders. “I will see if I can convince Glaive of a detour… He has been… Hard to manipulate since he bred.” His dark eyes dropped to the creature that suddenly placed itself beside his hip. The canine had jaws that looked like they could break bone easily even at this young age, darkened muzzles were held high and dominate as it considered the pair of them with separate heads. The third head measured the still occurring chaos with aloof disinterest.

The central head was the first to notice his chosen master’s attention and the three serpentine tails curled and wagged to show approval of this. His course hide stood apart from his brothers and sisters, with its partial striping and mottled browns. Even his ears held a slightly different shape than those he had come with, more rounded and broad then triangular. He would be low slung but brawny, a fine companion at full size. Already he stood near as tall as a wolfhound and he would only grow.

Panahasi raised a brow at the creature; it was stiff and noble as a rich man and three times as dangerous. “I seem to attract a strange sort.” He murmured. With a shrug he reached out his lame hand and carefully placed it on the back of the nearest head. Many might show more caution, but he had lived with a violent monster for two years and fear was something that ebbed in such circumstances. When the canine did not deny him, the pale boy carefully scratched behind the ears of his new companion, watching with fascination as the head relaxed. The others kept careful vigil, allowing the third to enjoy the gentle ministrations. A smile lingered just at the corners of the boys lips, the brute reminded him of the hunting hounds of the rich men in Esam. It was only fitting he gave the canine a name in the desert tongue. “Jahi.” He said softly. “That will be your name.”

Dark eyes turned towards Glaive and the head he scratched followed his gaze. It would be an interesting thing to see how the pair reacted to each other. He doubted the aggression would be as violent as it had been towards the small gryph when she had hatched, but it was unconvinced this would end without a fight. For now he enjoyed the dignified companionship of his new cohort, both looking aloof and serene to the chaos around them as if they were above the chaos.

The scent of blood permeating every molecule of air made the pup's stomach give a ragged growl. Once free of the cage, the cerberus pup had chased and tormented whatever brothers and sisters he dared to his heart's content, but now he was hungry. Dark eyes shined with predatory intent as he focused upon the scents of blood and the sights of the people and dragons around him. Short, erect, triangular ears topped each head and swiveled forward to take in all the sounds. He might not have been the craftiest of the lot, or the largest, but there was something practically savage about the canid grins on each of his three muzzles. Tawny-furred and built like a solid brick, the pup was strong even if he was no powerhouse like the dominant male and female that had broken them out of the cage in the first place.

No one was going to get in the way of his hunt. He slunk under tables and around chairs, stalking around legs and feet until a fresh scent of blood tinged the air nearby. His left head swiveled, the other two following. Lips pealed back from pearly sharp fangs as he saw him. He was wounded, a perfect target for a hungry cerberus. The creature didn't even know he was there, so it was easy to sneak up on him and test that blood trail. But he paused when he saw that the person didn't even run or seem to be afraid--it hadn't occurred to the whelp that he just hadn't been noticed.

One tongue darted out to taste the blood at Gallifrey's ankle, the another set of jaws came around to nibble at the tender flesh. It was food but not food, what curiosity was this?
