Character Number- 1

Name- Coccidioides

Age- 75 years

Gender- Male

Element- Mycotic(Forest)

Posted Image

Appearance- Coccidioides is, for the most part, strongly in the resemblance of his mother, who was a Tainted Forest dragon, though thanks to the fact that his father was a Tainted Earth dragon, he is not quite as limited in size as most who descend from Forest dragons would normally be. Spines, covered in fungal growths, travel along his neck and back down to his tail in two straight lines jutting out from the sides of his body, possibly in a way meant to be protective naturally. On the top of his head rest an almost full crown of horns, five to be precise, though there is the obvious indentation where a horn was savagely ripped from his skull during a fight. The other five horns, arranged in a neat semi-circle, all point towards Coccidioides' tail, which has what appear to be an attempted growth of further spines muddied by fungal tumors. Where there aren't spines and obvious brown-green scales, Coccidioides is perfectly covered in fungi, though not in an unnatural looking way. His scales appear tough and broad, keeping him relatively safe from all forms of harm.

His crystal, a muddy brown and green fixture, is found at the base of his neck where it begins to meet the belly portion of his torso. Standing at approximately thirty-five feet from talons to shoulders, this leaves the crystal in a fairly prominent position though it is surrounded by a mildly protective set of fungal growths. His talons are thick and powerful, while the fungal growths all along his body seem to be numerous though thin. Not to be deterred, each fungal growth, strongly resembling either a mushroom or a mold at random, is sturdy enough to avoid being broken off by all but the most powerful of attacks. His wingspan is quite average, being sixty-five feet from wingtip to wingtip, and the length of his overall Mycotic body is seventy feet from snout to tail fungi. In short terms, his parents' appearance sort of balanced one another out in his formation physically, making him not small but not large.

Personality- If dragons could be sadists when it comes to their enemies, look no further than Coccidioides. Due to the origins of his name, referencing a particularly lethal form of lung infection, he finds himself fascinated if not overtly amused with watching others suffer pain. His acidic breathe is about average in potency, as are the spores he exhumes, but he takes particular glee in watching his foes cough and have difficulty breathing once they've inhaled his spores. It's what excites him, makes his adrenaline run on high, and is probably the only thing that will ever make him laugh. He finds many other things to be amusing, but when he's told to perform the art of assassination via poison, he grins broadly and will often laugh manically when he's succeeded. In other words, this is one sick-minded dragon who uses his Taint produced natural abilities to their full use.

Outside of when he is using his spores in combat, Coccidioides is a recluse, and something of a puzzle. Some of his more paranoid peers and fellow Daggers view him as constantly scheming, if not always plotting someone's death or failure in some fashion. It's really just that he is very introspective, always contemplating the environment around him as well as his present situation, whatever it may be at the time. When he was going through his training as a Dagger, he always was a bit slow in execution, but he almost always did it at near flawless levels of excellence. He would watch his opponents in sparring, waiting for them to give away some clue as to their habits in battle, then he would savagely exploit whatever weaknesses he found. He still acts this way today, obediently obeying his Shell's Viral with exactness, but when asked to use poison specifically, he still cracks a grin when no one is watching. Other than that, his reclusivness and general lack of being social unless obligated to is merely a psychological shield against others thinking him weak or a target.

Partner- Casamir - Male - Deceased Tainted human

Rank- Dagger

History- Two first-generation Tainted dragons entered a Flight, and about six hours later, both left to find privacy. The result of this union, Tainted Forest and Tainted Earth, was a set of eggs, with one being covered in fluffy mold and a pale, smallish shell. During the brief time period before Nidhogg's influence was known wide-scale, a number of adolescent humans were kidnapped from their homes, usually from villages on the fringes of Sekkai where almost no one cared about them. These humans were reluctant receivers of Tainted crystals, young and scared as they watched unnatural breeds of dragons emerge from various eggs. One particularly unattractive hatchling, covered in brownish-green scales and what appeared to be mushroom shaped tumors, chose a frightened thirteen year old boy named Casamir. Not all of the humans were chosen, as a miscalculation left the current Tainted brood empty and the number of humans in surplus. To amuse the sick-minded Tainted dragons, Nidhogg had a mutated forest dragon, one of the first few Mycotics, poison the humans with spores, causing them to cough and wrack in pain as fungal infections filled their lungs. Watching this display of cruelty, the young Mycotic gleefully named itself Coccidioides, after a painfully lethal form of fungal virus that often caused suffocation in humans.

Casamir trained with his new found partner reluctantly, more than once having to be punished physically for attempting to escape his fate. He tried to convince Coccidioides to leave with him, but the young Taintling enjoyed watching various creatures and humans suffer in anguish due to his acidic breathe or wing-produced spores far too much to listen. As they grew older, and Casamir continued to attempt to convince his partner to leave the Tainted, Coccidioides began to view the pathetically frightened human as weak, spineless, and ultimately a nuisance. During the beginning of Dagger training, Coccidioides grew tired of Casamir's incessant and forced him to swallow a lung full of spores, breathed from the dragon's own throat into Casamir's. The number of spores sent down his trachea caused them to grow and multiply rapidly, and even as Coccidioides felt a twinge of pain in his chest as his crystal fractured almost in half, he cackled as Casamir suffocated.

Freed from the annoyance of an unwilling rider, Coccidioides willingly became a Dagger in the Tainted Legion, assassinating valorous Sekkai dragons and riders alike with subterfuge and trickery, always taking perverse pride in watching them suffer at the hand of his poisons. The war only lasted through his young adulthood into adulthood, and when Nidhogg's influence left the minds of the Tainted, he went on his own for some time. The war ended when Coccidioides was seventy-one years old, and for 4 years he wandered aimlessly, avoiding the superior Sekkai forces that would threaten his freedom, and avoiding the Toxic Augari's forces due to a lack of caring for their cause. He was free to torture various creatures as he pleased, and that's all he cared about. But soon he grew anxious for a challenge, for something more than a small hamlet of choking humans or a pack of wolves yelping in pain as acid melted it's way through their fur, he wanted to strike out against his own kind, and against larger numbers of humans. At age seventy-five, he rejoined the Tainted Legion with some reluctance, giving up a few freedoms to have the security of other Tainted dragons at his back as he gladly rejoined the ranks of the Daggers to strike fear into his opponents with painful assassination methods of poison and acidic slime.
