Curse the fiends, their children too...
|
Character Number- 4th Name- Pohl Cicerova Age- 25 Gender- Intersex (very specifically, 5-ARD) / Genderfluid. He/She/They are all acceptable pronouns; Pohl lets the situation decide how they are perceived and never corrects anyone unless absolutely necessary to not blow their cover. Sexuality- Pansexual; though don't count on much. Appearance- Born in Esam, Pohl's complexion is slightly darker, with an almost bronzed, burnished tone. A middling brow and straight, softly prominent nose is framed squarely between neatly groomed, high arching eyebrows. Their amber eyes are a bright gold, with dark rims that hide even darker intentions for all they meet. Pohl's hair is a thick and wavy raven black. When the need for a subtle presence is unnecessary, a simple leather thong holds it back at the nape of Pohl's neck, otherwise it is styled neatly as needed for whatever gender they are required to present. Their slightly squared chin and soft jawline is accompanied by slightly higher cheekbones and evenly placed ears, giving them just the right amount of features to show as either gender required by their former Mistress. In keeping with their body type and various training, Pohl's form seems to be measured in increments of "just enough." They stand at a reasonable 5'6", and weigh a rough 150lbs, give or take a few. Their lean build is tall and tapered; with simple curves that best accentuate their features. Pohl's hands are neat and tidy with slender fingers that make dexterous tasks relatively simple. Their hands are lightly scarred with the results of years of practice at palming a dagger. Fashion is one part guilty pleasure, and two parts necessity. Knowing how to dress was a requirement of their line of work before they found themself within the academy. From the lowest rags, to the highest fashions of silks and scantily clad pleasures, Pohl can flaunt it all with ease. Being able to utilize all manner of dress for disguise and infiltration means being capable of wearing absolutely anything, and Pohl is well up to the task. When it comes to personal preference however, a relaxed fit is preferred. They usually wear muted tones with the occasional flash of color. As of late the color in question tends to be a dark blue, as it matches well with Velocer's markings. Numerous straps, pockets and various crevices provide hiding spaces for daggers. Pohl's favored weapon remains hidden in a spring-loaded bracer. The pyrite sphere that matches Velocer's crystal rests in the hilt. Personality- duplicitous, conniving, playful There is a poetic fluidity to Pohl's behavior. Sharp as a whip, and just as quick, the knife wielding spymaster has an ingratiating manner about them. Their training was intricate and precise, and Pohl conducts themself with the same attention to detail in all things. They have a preference for being aware of their surroundings, not only in a general sense, but also a political one. For this reason, emotional investments are kept to a minimum, as for Pohl has to be ready change allegiances at the drop of a hat. Their highly morphic nature makes friendships difficult to maintain for these same duplicitous reasons. Despite the taint however, they are still there at a moment's notice for any social faux pas Velocer's tongue gets him into. Pohl's penchant for doublespeak as well as their ability to gather information and weasel into things they have no business being apart of is not born out of some sense of ill intent. Pohl prides themself upon full mastery of the knife-which doesn't simply imply the blade, but the hilt and pommel as well. Unless absolutely necessary, Pohl does their best to not end a life. The result is typically a splitting headache and memory loss. Still, the Taint has left its mark and the careful attention to detail in dealing with obstacles has slowly started to peel away. Rank- Bone History- The life of Pohl has been a series of trials and tribulations, set forth by familial agreements in place many generations before they even came into being. The Cicerova family has, for as long as anyone can remember, always been subordinate to the wishes of the Asmodai family. Their wealth and subsequent land grabs within Essam always kept them one step ahead of Pohl's own kin. The end result for Pohl was the usual arrangement of being a child hostage. Educated within the home of the Asmodai. The unusual circumstances of their birth however, put them in a unique position as far as how they would serve in the interests of the family. Pohl was raised as one gender, or another, but taught to observe situations and make the most of it as they saw fit. When in direct service to a member of the noble house, the choice would be made for them, as needed-but as time grew on instructions were left in their capable hands. As Pohl neared adulthood, they were sent with one of the Asmodai's own to reside within Lihn. Having a representative in the capital of Sekkai seemed to be a wise decision for the time. A well trained spymaster, Pohl was the near constant companion of their liege lord, whether portraying a starstruck lover in the forefront of public view, or trailing certain business arrangements in the guise of a beggar several streets over; Pohl's mastery of disguise and ambiguous gender was considered quite the boon and gave the Asmodai several advantages in their preferred businesses-both moral and immoral. It was not by choice that Pohl became a dragon rider. Having spent nearly twelve years in the care of the Asmodai family, attending a Sekkian hatching in which one of their children was a candidate was only a matter of course. Though the child had been declined, it seemed the family would not go without a charge in the dragons' midst. The stray presentation of a pyrite sphere in Pohl's lap made certain of that. Despite the lightning's intense nature, the hatchling was one of the last to come forward and he was terribly insistent that Pohl join the rest of them. The resulting bond made for a change in Pohl's life that they had least expected, and the transition to life as a rider came at an uneasy pace. Velocer, from the moment that he had food in his belly, was a handful. The dragon's impatient nature and need to constantly be doing something at all times kept Pohl on their toes. The trouble they managed to get into together was limitless. Awkward social situations from Velocer not keeping his trap shut, to dashing into the wrong place at just the wrong time. Scaring the wrong person...the two had a rap sheet a mile long, and it only got worse with age, but every minute of it was worth the mayhem and punishment that followed. In trying to keep the two satisfied with the need for activity, and well away from the Academy to keep the distractions to a minimum, Pohl and Velocer were assigned to assist in efforts to rebuild Irazu. Running messages back and forth kept the pair busy and for the first time in several years, they could move about with purpose. The satisfactory arrangement for their restlessness would not however, last forever. With nearly a year of successfully not pissing anyone off, the two took off on their own whims one early morning after a strange sighting along the southernmost horizon. Their exploration led to confrontation with a pitch black bone dragon with a disposition as bleak as his own body. The fight that ensued did not end in victory for the pair, and both were pocked with a number of bone shards that would leave them scarred forevermore. The most telling of injuries being the long spur that had jammed itself into Velocer's crystal. Backward facing barbs made tugging the spur out of the crystal near impossible without further damage, leaving the offensive needle trapped inside the naturally formed crag upon the crystal's surface. What was more; the fight took them far from their post and neither were familiar with the wilderness. Bewildered, terrified, lost and in pain, the two became further lost within the mountains of the west than either intended. With every step they took, the bone spur couched itself deeper into the crystal, each tap of the point like a fingernail tracing lightly over skin, until finally cracking through the surface, couching itself in place and allowing the taint to spread. With the damage done, Sekkai could no longer be their home. The Dragon Name- Velocer Age- 6 Gender- Male Element- Lightning Appearance- Velocer is built for speed. On foot, in the air, wherever he pleases to be. His head is particularly blunt, with wide nostrils and a pointed chin to reduce drag. His body however, is long and springy, with a narrow, barrel like chest, and stick-like legs. What his talons lack in manual dexterity, they make up for in their ability to grip the earth. His tail is long and stiff; the blades that extend from it functioning a bit like the rudders of a plane, otherwise the whole ensemble provides a counterbalance when tearing up the ground beneath him. His wings are long and narrow, like a swift's, allowing him to make all manner of aerial maneuvers at high speed. Velocer's mane is slightly coarse and grows from front to back. It stops just between the wings, before resuming just before the haunches, growing in reverse. This leaves him with the two distinct outcroppings of smooth bristles growing in opposite directions. His tail is likewise covered in these same bristles and they can be brushed off, or otherwise embedded in an opponent's flesh, causing irritation from the electrical charge held therein. His scales are smooth, though he has several along his underbelly and sides that can be flared open to produce drag to reduce speed, should the need arise. Velocer's scales are a light, golden cream color that fades to white along his undersides. His mane is a dark, iridescent raven black, though the portion above his hind limbs has a two toned section of white bristles. A bright, neon blue dorsal stripe runs from the top of his head and all the way down his back, to the base of his mane. The same iridescent black coloration provides further markings, starting with the tear like streaks from his bright blue eyes. Four long blotchy-but complete- lines flank his mane, down to the base of his tail, which is dominated in turn by blue black bands and a white tip. There are several more long whorls of lines along his shoulders, but his flanks are mostly bare of markings. Meanwhile, Velocer's legs have four long black socks, up to their respective joints, whereas his hind legs have two shorter white socks that reach half way to his ankles. Primitive white striping marks the scales before they fade to creamy gold once again. His swift-like wings are also primarily blue-black, with the edges furthest from the body gilt with gold and white striping along the outer edge. His horns resemble those of a pronghorn, with a thick forward point that quickly loops around close to the body. These, like the blades in his tail, are a solid, shiny black with a bright neon blue fade that matches the vibrant dorsal stripe that runs down his back. Highly visible, due to the long shaft protruding from it, is Velocer's crystal resides upon his right hind leg. A pyrite sphere, the rough hewn marred surface was not free from crags and pits in its formation and while not a deformity, the unfortunate shape allowed for a rather large blackened bone spur to pierce the crystal-though the damage cannot be seen-and honestly looks far worse than it was initially, the bone became stuck in place and attempting to remove it from the crystal results in intense pain for both dragon and rider. It is more than the two are willing to risk. The dull ebb of pain from the offending weapon is a constant reminder that their bond will never be the same, and the effects of the taint are already visible, as the golden scales surrounding the crystal have started to bleach themselves, becoming a cold, bleached silver sort of color. Personality- tempestuous, expeditious, daring. Velocer has always been trouble, right from the egg. The lightning's desire to always be on the move, or to be doing something has made him a handful from the day he was born. He has an uncanny knack for being the first to rise, and a propensity for sleeping early, of the mindset that the sooner the offensive period of stillness is over, the sooner he can enjoy the finer parts of the day. In his own mind, the faster something is accomplished, the sooner something new can be experienced. Time is so finite; why waste it? There is always somewhere new to experience, something to see, races to be had, and storms to chase. The little dare devil has little tolerance for lethargy, unless of course, work and play have been completed for the day. His propensity for speed does not extend just to his methods of movement. Unfortunately for his rider, the sharp tongue he possesses did not come with the wit to match. Velocer has a tendency to come off with a snarky attitude and it has gotten him in quite a bit of trouble in his time. Before the taint, one could expect a genuine attempt at an apology-even the act of slowing down for the lightning could be considered a magnanimous, heartfelt apology. Now, if offense it is usually followed by more, except in the case of his rider. Even then, the realization takes effort, and the desire to follow through continues to ebb away. He has become increasingly drawn to violence, a characteristic that he never possessed in the past. User Information Username- Jackins Contact- PM, or Skype (please ask first!)
