Character Number: 11th Name: Joule (Formerly Rasere) Age: 87 Gender: Female Element: Arcane (Formerly Bulkhead) Appearance: - Once a proud, heavily armored Bulkhead, Eibhir’s magical experimentation has rendered her to ashes, rebuilt from a frame half of what her immensity of armor-clad visage had once been. Joule now reaches only seventy feet in total length, half of the impressive stature she had been born with. Despite the radical shift in proportional size, the newly forged Arcane dragoness is still just as imposing in outward appearance and even more so with magical prowess. Six well-muscled limbs carry her as they always have, but now have the added features of dexterous digits to manipulate her internally coursing river of magical energy.
Striped bare of the heavy, shingled carapace armor she once was adorned with, now fine crystalline scales cover her body. Jagged spines wrought with many facets erupt along her spinal column, even fanning out to frame her jawline along her face. Proudly grown horns fashioned in the same crystalline appearance mold the shape where the telltale moose-like rack of Bulkheads once sat atop her crown. Even along the newly forked tail’s flattened ends spurt clusters of semi-translucent outgrowths. The splitting in her tail takes over an impressive portion of the appendage, cleaving the last third of it’s length in two, leaving the mineral-like adornments to artfully layer like a swallow’s tail feathers.
Her entire body is covered in a sculpted blend of golden tan brindling amidst a backdrop of deep, earthen umber and blending of tones in between. Much like a Malinois, she also carries a darker masking along her face, saddle, and tail tip. Mirroring the dark hues of her figure, all the spines and growths appear in a likened hue, as if cut from polished smoky quartz. Breaking the overall miasma of dark, cavernous pigments are ravenous cracks that splinter her ventral undersides from throat to tail. These rifts crawl along up along her ribs, stopping midway up her torso and catching the forelegs’ elbow and forearm segments in a spiderweb of splintered scales. Searing white energy pulses from these fault lines, stretching greedily outward as time elapses in an effort to be set free of the physical confines.
All three of her eyes seem to watch eerily in the same pale glow, the lack of pupils leaving it up to the individual to guess an Arcane’s focus. As the first of her kin, Joule’s wintery illumination is prone to sudden change to a molten orangish gold, flicked with crimson, a reminder for all of the fierce heritage she once boasted.
Personality: Impulsive, Ethereal, Untraditional, Volatile - Despite the previous delusions of insanity she’d suffered as a Bulkhead, Joule’s rewired personality seems to have integrated some of Eibhir’s threads of self, woven into the very fabric of her persona. Still highly volatile in temperament, she no longer has the capacity to fall into complete derangement, an advantageous upper hand compared to that of her former kin. In addition to the rampant mood swings that may take hold, the only other sliver of former self that remains seems to be her impulsive nature. Her whims and will tends to shift without any rhyme or reason, though she certainly doesn’t see it that way.
Highly theoretical, Joule has picked up a thirst for understanding the unknown, an unusual side effect resulting from the Crystal Chre’s experimentation with her magical and genetic DNA that infused his own scientific hypothesizing into her system. However, unlike the elusive hybrid, Joule tends to abandon things once they’re fully understood. A fully fleshed out perception can no longer be considered a challenge, and thus is swiftly discarded to make way for the next new curiosity to invoke her intrigue. This cold dispersion of interest is also represented in her outward nature towards others, oftentimes coming off as a frostily ethereal presence. Lastly, in the spirit of her unique coming into existence, Joule is particularly untraditional in nature. Loathing towards the notion of routine, this is a dragoness that rarely follows any semblance of a plan or fine tuned schedule. She kills when she pleases, eats when it suits her, and calls for courtship when the need arises. In keeping with her flexible facets, she bares no plans to settle for simply one lifelong mate as some prefer. Lusting to remain the center of all attention, this gregarious and self-aggrandizing phantasm of a dragon always will seek to draw forth the most prolifically powerful of suitors in which to both reproduce and refuel her own magical core.
Partner: Amelia Watt; Deceased at 22 (Bonded at 15) Rank: Blood History: - Centuries have passed since the first recorded sighting of what is now known as a Bulkhead, documents of the mutation arising from Sekkaian Lavas, Fires and Earths years after exposure to the Tainted influence. Rasere, a pureblood descendant of the first mutated Bulkhead, was just as ruthlessly powerful and violently unstable as the breed’s signature notations suggested. To mistake her or her kin as anything but would be a grave error to ever make, and so even the Legion is beginning to believe.
With the recent outbreak of devolved sanity among those of Bulkhead species and decent, it was decided by the Tainted Queen and her crystalline hybrid council that their threat to her vision had outweighed their use against their enemies. The monstrous Bulkhead faced by lower ranked Taints seeking command of their own Shell was the final nail in the Bulkhead’s literal and figurative coffin. With that determination brought a new problem to deliberate over; how to dispose of their lineage, and cull further insurgence from repeating. Eibhir provided a theory that was hastily put into tested practice; the magical kin had made dragons, perhaps they could also unmake them. Or at the very least, sterilize the molten creatures that remained, and allow them to die off with the passage of time as well as rally those that would no longer be driven by such chaotic hormones. Rasere was selected in secret, chosen as the closest remaining descendant of the first mutated Bulkhead, therefore theorized as closest to the root of her kin’s mutations and ideal for experimentation. By way of the puppeted Nidhogg’s command, she was summoned and sedated under his mental sway, a captive to the combined forces of the Nightmare’s influence and Eibhir’s imbuing magics. Unfortunately, the very unstable power which had mutated Eibhir also rendered his arcane energies foreign and unmastered. Rather than rework the genetic wiring to render the dragoness sterile, his power meeting with the mutated DNA collided. Instead of merely recoding, it remastered; flaring unwieldy magic with a mutation derived from the naturally devolving nature of the Tainted. For the Bulkhead, it meant being violently mutated. What should have taken decades evolved and shifted in a matter of minutes, leaving an entirely different creature in the wake of the heated body had previously been. She was no longer a mutant daughter of fearsome volcanoes given life and limb, but what would become known by way of the unstable energies she bore as an Arcane. The unforeseen circumstance of Rasere’s reconstruction left Eibhir in curious wonder, as was the way of the Qih-Nzak. He was intrigued, interested, and wished to study his creation. It had taken several of his kin to create what was the Dream dragon, yet here he alone had achieved the creation of a new breed by his own elemental weight. It was by his deliberate bidding that he swayed Augari’s mind, wishing to observe the specimen, to allow it to fortify the Toxic’s amassing army with its untested strength. Time, he assured her, would tell if they could prove pivotal to her plans at asserting their domain’s reach. The Bulkhead known as Rasere ceased to exist, reconstructed now into a new species, deemed an Arcane. She took on a new name to accompany her new form and hazed memories at the bidding of the being known as Eibhir, his offered identity of Joule rolling eloquently off the newly formed Arcane’s tongue.
