While the dire rider loved to spend time at home with his family, he knew when to pull his weight around. It had felt like yesterday, they were going through training and learning how to handle the small pups. Now, they were fully grown adults, and he took on missions and other much needed assignments. Sometimes they were solo, and sometimes they were with partners. The pair hadn't joined a pack yet, though if they wanted to, Tiberius would be easy to handle, outside of the usual mischief he tended to get into. Nithian kept alert, his eyes peeled through the dense foliage. The trees swayed above them, and he shifted his weight as he turned. They had pulled to the side of the road to deal with the thorn, as to not block any traffic on the well worn road, but for the moment, they were the only ones to be seen in any direction. He didn't stand out too much on the side, brown traveling pants--leather yet comfortable, tough, slightly worn boots protected his lower torso. His shirt complimented with a creamier tan, the vest a lighter tan. His jacket was thrown over the saddle, as it had gotten rather hot with three layers. It was far more easier with just two. Perched on his normal perch, the silver gryphon curled around his bondeds neck. Orange eyes watched the other pair, but made no move to leave. With spring in full swing, the humid air only added to the heat, but the dire rider didn't care. He preferred the warmth to the absolute freezing of the academy and northern forests; even if his bonded was far more suited for it. He enjoyed it, though he had to admit, the humidity of it could be lower. But he would get what he could. He turned to watch the other dire pair, before casting a glance at his own. Tiberius whined, wiggling and vibrating in the spot that he sat in. He knew not to go bother the other pair as the other rider worked, but this was his brother-- and he wanted to go over there and make sure he was ok. Of course, he didn't stop trying to talk at the other dire. A series of yips, whines and other grumbling noises that continued to echo from the blue-hued fluff ball of a dire. Nithian was relieved, however, that when he needed the dire to be silent, he could be. It had taken a lot of effort and extra training for him to get the dire to do so, but in the end Tiberius listened. Thankfully, despite the white dire's whining, it didn't take long for the other to remove the thorn. As soon as Tiberius saw that they were done, he pounced, whining as he stuffed his face into his brothers fur, carefully nipping here and there playfully before back up. Nithian watched, not bothering to reprimand the dire. If Galeas didn't want Tiberius to be so rough, he could easily tell Tib off himself. He looked back at the sky. The sun did hang low for late afternoon, and he carefully moved to the saddle bags to pull out a map. Quickly checking, easily waving the gryphon off when he tried to swipe at the paper, he looked back up. "I don't think so. we could keep on for another mile or so, but we'll most likely be forced to make camp." He paused, watching the two grown dires. "I would suggest, for Galeas, Making camp now, and letting him rest off his paw. We can clean it just to make sure, but walking on a injured paw doesn't sound like any fun. But, it's up to you." He threw it out as a suggestion, his low self-esteem preventing him from taking charge. He had gained more confidence with the help of his family and Tiberius, but healing couldn't be rushed. He smiled again, running a hand through the soft fur of the slightly disgruntled gryphon. The gryphon was never found of traveling, but at the same time, the gryphon refused to go anywhere without the dire rider. So he just had to put up with the frequent trips to different places around nyushi. Tiberius didn't seem to mind the two as they talked. They weren't moving yet, and he hadn't been told to behave, so he played, trying to get Galeas to join him. He rolled around on the ground, paws pushing up at his brother. Every noise he made made him seem all the more ridiculous. Nithian only laughed at his dire's antics. |
