Work, work, work, and more work. Not only was it a part of being an adult in general, but as a dire rider, and being in a very active pack. And, of course, the tasks she did on the side. Rise couldn't hold a candle to what her Sebastian went through day to day, though. That poor man was going to run himself right into the ground, if he hadn't already started to already. They had had very little time together that didn't involve a short meal, some snuggle perhaps, then just falling asleep from exhaustion. When was the last time they had done something fun, relaxing? With Dvri's retirement, Sebastian had the full brunt of leading the Nightfang pack. So, upon her return from Lihn from a delivery errand, Rise was set with a personal mission. Of course, Ndogo Kucheka was all for it. In fact, he was so excited it was hard to keep him going forward and not leaping around in circles.

They went straight to Sebastian's office, and Rise double checked to make sure the packs on his saddle were still good to go before she just invited herself in. She would apologize if someone was in there, but otherwise, naw. Luckily, it was just Seb at his desk, being busy, as per usual. Flicking her long blonde hair back over her shoulders, she sauntered over to his desk with a big smile. "Well well well, if it isn't my hard-working man. Looking good in that tunic, too," she said with a wink, a nice one she had made herself. Supporting her hands on the edge of the desk as she came to stand opposite him, she leaned forward and placed a kiss on the crown of his head.

"We're going out, Sebastian. Like, right now. No, no, put that down." She tsked and walked around the desk, winking over at Rin as Ndogo snaked his head in to yip at her softly, excitement dancing in his eyes. "Unless it's a matter of life and/or death, you, Rin, Ndogo and I are going to take the rest of the day off. You can't say no," she said, tugging at his arm to get him to stand. "I've got everything packed; all I need is you and Rin."

Ah, how she adored Sebastian. It worried her to see him so stressed, so a day out would do him so much good. "And hello, I hope you don't mind me barging in and all," she said with a grin.

Silence surrounded him, outside of the scratching of his pen to paper. Having been pack leader left no room for much. When Patrols weren't going on, there was paperwork. Paperwork paperwork. Sebastian couldn't find it in himself to take a vacation for even a day. Resources were scarce and he didn't want to draw the pack short in trying to keep the town safe. Other packs had other sections, but sometimes, overlapping was necessary. He sighed, dipping his quill back into the inkwell, before resuming his reports.

With the famine, riots were starting to break out. Just a few weeks before hatching, a glass has been killed and rioters thrown in prison. Whether the healed dragon deserved it or not--no. No he hadn't no one deserved to die like that. But they hadn't been able to prevent it. Since then, more work had poured in to try and keep the peace. No one knew for sure what had started it for sure, but they had to keep the population under control despite what was going on. Seb could sympathize, but it didn't mean they should riot. Rioting did nothing but cause more problems and damages to the town, wasting precious resources they didn't have.

He sighed, turning the page over, diligently working away. Rin curled up in the corner of his office, resting. No need to waste energy with so little food. While they weren't as bad off, they still suffered. Ears perked and intently listening while her bonded worked. She heard their footsteps long before their entrance, but she kept silent, recognizing the scent almost immediately. There would be no need for her to alert Sebastian to the person barging through the door.

Seb almost jumped, long hair falling out of the holders he had it in. The door swung open and then someone was lounging in front of him, speaking. He blinked as she stood in front of him, leaning against the desk making it hard to write. Warm, yet tired hazel eyes looked up at rise, and he smiled.

"Hello to you to Rise." He responded, sitting the quill down and stretching sore muscles. Hunching over the desk for hours at end hurt more than working out sometimes. He ran a hand through his longer locks before blinking. Going out? A nice touch and half of them wanted to, but he had reports to finish. "Ahhh, I would love that my dear. But I have reports that need to be finished."

Rin Huffed at him, before turning her attention to her child. My how he had grown! She reached out her nose to him , before staring to lick at whatever she could of the other dire. She sat up, but much else didn't move. More silver lined her dull fur that only kept shine because of Seb's diligent upkeep of it. But the color was no longer as vibrant as it had been. Stress had taken it's toll on her too, though she didn't show it personally.

Sebastian reached out to curl his fingers in her hair, before pulling her into a kiss that lasted a few seconds to short. Rin huffed again, feeling Rise and her dire were up to something so she moved to get ready, not at all wanting to stay cooped up. She nudged ndgogo and waited for both riders. Her eyes twinkled, her rider had forgotten how stubborn his partner could be.

Rise gave Sebastian a frown before he reached up to pull her into a kiss. It was welcome, of course, even though it could have been a lot longer. There was always more time for that later. Right now, it was time to roll up her sleeves. Sebastian would leave this office, even if she had to force him. And it seemed that was very much the case. As the kiss ended, there was a smile on her lips, one that was almost too nice as she pulled back. "Nice try," she said sweetly, running her fingers through his shaggy hair. It really needed a trim, she mused inwardly. "Saying 'no' without actually saying no, even though I told you you couldn't say no. I'm serious. Your cute ass is getting out of that chair, and you're going to get yourself some fresh air. And poor Rin, too. She's not going to waste away in that corner anymore than you are in this damn chair." She gathered his papers and tucked them into a folder before pulling open the top drawer to set them in. It probably wasn't the right place, but she just didn't care at the moment.

Ndogo eased the rest of the way in as Rinalias stood, accepting his mother's loving licks and bathing her with much of his own. He could feel her excitement growing, no doubt knowing he and his were up to something. Of course they were, when were they not, really? His tail wagged enthusiastically, hitting the door frame with hallowed thumps. He eased his head around to one of the saddle packs, sniffed it, then looked back to Rin happily. Treats! They'd need energy for what they wanted to do today. His ears tilted forward as he watched Rise put Sebastian's papers away, despite any protests, waiting. The moment Rise gestured to him, a silly grin pasted across his maw as he trotted over. He eased around, and being as gentle as he could to it, gripped the chair's back with his teeth and pulled until Sebastian was no longer in it. Rise, having Seb's arm, prevented him from falling all the way to the floor and now had him on his feet.

"Great, I'm so glad you are coming with us!" Rise exclaimed, her strength ever surprising as she gripped and pulled her man away from the desk and to the door. Amused, Ndogo nudged Rin politely to let her wander out after the pair before he did, using his back paw to nudge the door shut. Then, he placed the back of his nose between Seb's shoulder blades, assuring the man less means of escape back to the room. Between Rise's grip and Ndogo's gentle, but firm pushing, Sebastian wasn't going anywhere Rise didn't wish him to.

"But seriously, Sebastian," Rise was now saying as they made their way through several corridors, "it's time to give yourself a breather. You're going to crash and burn without some kind of break, hun. You can get back at it tomorrow, but for the rest of the day, you're all mine And Rin's, and Ndogo's," she added. "Rin needs as much a break as you do, okay?" she added more gently, looking back at him and the ever silvering dire. "So if I have to drag your butt all the way there, I will."

Sebastian should have known better, should have realized the dire rider was up to something. Especially as she began to clean up his desk and stick papers not where they belonged. At least he knew where they were, having watched her put them there. He sputtered, half-assed excuses trying to form on his lips, but the shock of suddenly not having underneath him whisked the words out of his mouth.

Thanks to Rise gripping his arm and his own reflexes, the pack leader was able to catch himself from falling to the floor. "Rise!" He garbled out, but then they were moving out, Ndogo's nose pressed squarely between his shoulder blades as they used the opportunity to march him out the door. One look at his dire, and he sighed. True, Rin had the opportunity to go off on her own, but she had dutifully stayed by his side.

He sighed, moving off of Ndogo's nose with a large smile. Pulling his hands up he warbled. "Alright, alright. We'll go with you to wherever you wanna go. I still have time to finish them." He grabbed her hand to interlock their fingers. she was right, he hadn't had a proper day off in awhile and while conserving their energy was important, they also needed to go out and enjoy the day. And it had been a long time since they had had any time together outside of the few times they did lunch or on pack business. While it was mostly known that they were together, the pair kept a professional stance while on the job.

"So, what do you have in mind?" He didn't mind if he wore such casual clothing while out and about.

As Sebastian gave in, Ndogo yipped in victory and did a little dance on the spot. Success! With that out of the way, he fell back just a bit so that he was walking at Rin's side, nuzzling her here and there, giving her muzzle a lick as well. He utterly adored her, and though he still managed to have the energy to spare, didn't hop around in play. They could do that later once they got to their location. Rise smiled as Sebastian wove their fingers together, and her hand squeezed his in appreciation.

"So glad you've come to see it my way," she said with a wink. "The next plan was going to involve tying you to Ndogo's back. I do admit, I was kind of hoping we'd have to do it. Another day, perhaps," she said with a chuckle. It was such a funny thing to picture, after all. "At first, I wanted to go to the Hot Springs. But you know, since it's so blazing hot out here anyway," she said as they finally stepped outside to the moist heat, "I thought a beach visit would be far more appropriate. Nice and relaxing with cool water is what we all need." She squeezed his hand again. "I have some food and everything. Even won a little extra in an arm wrestling match with a dragonrider--no joke," she said seriously.

Once they were upon their dires, they set out at a casual pace. It was indeed a clingy, hot day with hardly a breeze to ease it, and going too fast just wasn't the best thing to do, anyway, when they weren't up to full strength. Despite the heat, it was a peaceful, uneventful journey to Lihn and past it, where the ocean could be seen glittering more and more cheerfully the closer they got. Here there was a breeze, offering them some refreshing coolness. Rise sighed in relief, as did Ndogo. When they found a stretch of beach they could have mostly to themselves, the young woman eased herself off Ndogo and relieved him of the saddle and bags.

The large dire shook himself in further relief, tongue dangling as he let the breeze whisk through his fur. This was so much better! Eagerly he waited as Rise set out a wide, but short bowl for he and Rin, though he was polite and would wait for Rin to drink the water she poured into it first. As he waited, he still eyed Rise, and she rolled her eyes.

"Fine, fine." Squatting down, she took up a large drawstring bag and loosened it. The smell from with was excellent, much like well-seasoned jerky. But as she stuck in a hand then withdrew it, she came up with a bunch of cooked bugs, not meat. Ndogo didn't care, obviously. Rise set a gracious amount out for both dires on some cloth, weighing it down with a few seashells. Now that their dires would snack and refresh themselves, they would be able to play, or nap, whatever they wanted. Securing what was left of the bugs, Rise smiled once again at Sebastian.

"Would you like some bugs, oooor...a sandwich?"

It was so nice to be alone--ish--with him again. How long had it been, anyway, since they had just hung out? The wind tugged at her hair playfully, which she had pulled back into ponytail, and the breeze was able to cool the back of her neck, setting her at ease. She eyed Sebastian, though, hoping he was okay with being here, even though she had forced his hand.

Sebastian nearly stopped when she said they were going to tie him and he was thankful that he hadn't resisted too terribly much and he shook his head. "Well, for my sake, I hope I don't. I doubt it'd be very becoming to see a pack leader tied up on a dire." Though he leaned into to whisper something in her ear. "I think a bed would be far more comfortable for ropes"

And then he pulled back, the most innocent look on his face as they moved. Making sure Rin was comfortable and ready, he mounted, and they were off. The trip to the ocean was pleasant enough and by the time they reached the ocean, Rin was slightly tired. But she was patient enough as they dismounted and Rise went about setting everything up.

And oh, she hadn't held too much back. Of course, the bugs weren't something Sebastian was used too, but he understood the need for it. With the famine having wiped out majority of their live stocks and herd, they would have to turn to something new. So then that left them with this. Sebastian was going to have to break down and eat it sometime.

Rin waited for the bowl and then eagerly took a drink before moving on to sniff at the bugs before grabbing one and moving to eat on it. Finding it content enough to eat and lay in the sun for the moment, Rin let her rider and everyone do their thing for now. She might, after a rest and some food, would perhaps take a run. But for now, this would do.

"Um. Perhaps a sandwich first." Not that he wouldn't eat a bug, but for now, he was going to stick to something more. He sat, feeling five times older than he actually was and looked out over the ocean. Here with Rise next to him, he could almost forget the troubles. Almost. And then he flopped, rolling onto her lap, being carefull not to hurt her as he settled to using her lap as a pillow. "Much better."

Rise spread out a thin blanket for them, sitting down as she used Ndogo's saddle to lean back against, and that she could be close to the supplies. Now that the look of concentration was off Sebastian's face, she could see the weariness. She felt no guilt about pulling his ass all the way here, then, not a speck. As she rummaged, Seb rolled and settled until his head was in her lap. She smiled down at him, leaning down for a moment so that their noses touched before she straightened to continue getting a sandwich out for him. "You know, I haven't forgotten the rope comment," she said casually. "And I'm super open to it, doing it and being the one under it. You must be so pent up, we've been apart for so long," she continued airily, unwrapping a decently-plump sandwich. The heat hadn't gotten to it too much, she was grateful to find out. "Right now, though, I know I'm content to feed my fine, hard-working man a sandwich."

The treat she had won? Two slices of excellent sandwich meat. With salad, cheese and a thin layer of dressing, it would be heaven to the taste buds. She tore off a small piece and held it down for him to bite. "No biting, we're in public," she half-joked. Ah, how she had missed this. The teasing, the play, even just casual talking. When they appeared together in a group setting, she was the perfect support for Sebastian, a well-functioning member of the pack. Perhaps it was hard to tell she and Sebastian were even a thing, but it wasn't much of a secret, either, so of course people were bound to know anyway. She had no reason to keep it a secret.

The one and only thing she did not like about it was that she most likely couldn't rise up to the rank of Pack Second. It might've been seen as favoritism. However, she knew she could live with it. It wouldn't stop her from doing her absolute best, and beyond. As she readied another piece for him, she caught sight of Ndogo suddenly taking off, unable to hold still anymore. Just as if he were still a goofy little pup he danced and twirled, pawing at the sand, lowering his nose to it and exhaling so it burst out in a mini explosion. He yipped at nothing in particular, as if playing with an imaginary friend. For all she knew, he was. It made her happy to see him so happy, though. As much as he loved the jungle, it seemed he adored the beach even more.

"What's on your mind, Sebastian?"

Sebastian laughed, a warm brass tone as she replied to his rope comment. She wouldn't be so far off with him being pent up, but there was work to be done. "Oh i'm sure you'd look fantastic. But don't go teasing me now." He harumphed, his fingers finding a strand of her long hair to play with. He was content here, resting on her lap with the wind gently dancing to bring some relief to the heat. He didn't want summer to end—the threat of winter so close and looming with hardly anything in stock. He hoped that they would have just enough to make it through the winter. He shook his head. Now was not the time to think on that. Now was the time to relax and enjoy the day. Hopefully an emergency wouldn't arise where he was needed…

He watched with faint surprse as she pulled out a sandwich with sandwich meat. How long had it been since he had something as simple as that. It must have been a high stakes game if she had been able to win that as a prize. He was pleased and at the same time felt slightly guilty. But then, there wasn't any harm for a small treat. It would likely be the last that they would have of such a meat and he opened his mouth to let her plop the small bit of food in his mouth. Ahhhh. Even the salad wasn't wilted and still had the crisp crunch to it. He watched Ndogo play and smiled at his pup like antics.

Rin watched with fondness, laying perfectly content in the sun after eating enough to be satisfied but not to be full. She didn't want to take away from Ndogo or her bonded. Even though Ndogo was a full adult, Rin still saw him as that tiny puppy that she had raised. Ah, she huffed, silver eyes content in watching him play. sebastian took to watching the pups and watching the waves roll in and out. It was a lullabye the eased him further into a state of serne calm. He could almost fall asleep. Her voice broke through his mind and he turned to look at her, hands still twirling with long hair.

"You tied to a bed?" he intoned slyly, grinning before ducking in case she decided to smack him. "No, seriously? Just worried what's going to happen. Summer isn't going to last. Winter stores are nearly wiped. Riots are starting to break out. Trying not to think about it, when I got such a lovely distraction right here. I haven't quite switched gears yet, butterfly."

Ndogo's rich, wondrous voice pleasantly echoed about the beach as the dire took to yapping at the incoming waves, biting at them only to get too much salty water in his mouth and shake his head vigorously to try and dispel the taste. He tried chasing them out instead, only to quickly come running back in as the waves threatened to cover him. And so it went, he chasing the tide out, the tide chasing him back up to dryer sand. He had found something as tireless as him to entertain him, for the moment. Rise smiled again before looking back down as Sebastian took to playing with a strand of her hair. It had taken forever to grow it out again, but since Ndogo was better about not using it as a play toy, she could actually have it long again. She loved the sound of his laughter, something she hadn't heard in quite some time.

He seemed to enjoy the sandwich, at least, and Rise readied him another piece before he made his crack of an answer. She grinned and watched him try to duck away, a maneuver harder to pull off since he was in her lap anyway, using her free hand to gently bop him on the forehead instead. Her smiled faded a bit, though, as he continued. He faced a lot as pack leader yes. So did the rest of the pack. It was a massive effort to keep what peace they could. It had only been last week she'd been hit over the head trying to resolve an incident in town. Lucky for her Ndogo managed to stay calm, and yet, still exert the necessary force needed to bring things to a standstill to give her enough time to recover from the blow.

"It's hard on all of us," she said softly, now using her free hand to stroke the side of his face. "We aren't here to force you to forget, Sebastian. The truth is, you can't, and you won't, because it's not only who you are, but it's your job. It would be irresponsible to toss it all. However, what you've been needing is a different setting. Four walls with stuffy air is only going to add to your stress. Instead of waiting for me to drag you out once in a blue moon, I do highly suggest setting aside some time for yourself, even if it's just a few minutes in the evening. You aren't doing anyone, especially yourself, any good if you fall from exhaustion."

Ndogo had given up on the waves, his fur wet and limp, as he slowed down with his nose to the sand. He kept finding seashells here and there, and finding one that hadn't been broken, he took it delicately in his teeth before padding over to Rin. He set it down at her front paws before charging off to find more.

Sebastian hummed, not wanting to bring the mood down. He continued to play with her hair as he gazed off, somewhat watching the dire pairs, and the sunset—his attention still focused on rise. She was right. He wouldn't be able to forget. But he did need a change of pace. Working himself too hard with this famine wouldn't help either, But he couldn't help but worry. He needed to do something and it needed to be done. the paperwork, rounds, assigning everything. granted, He also needed a pack second. He had yet to choose one and he would be able to shuffle some of it on to them.

He sighed. before realizing he was suddenly becoming like his sister—a workaholic. Hadn't he always been the one to tell her that she needed to break and breathe sometimes? A laugh bubbled on his lips and he quickly stifled it.

"Sorry, Sorry. You're right. Absolutely." He replied, trying to stifle the chuckles. "Sorry, I just I find it funny—I'm turning into my sister. She's the work-a-holic and I was always the one saying these things. And now here I am." He wiped at his eyes worry turning to wards the retired forest pair. With a growing family…no. he wasn't going to think about that right now. Now was a time for Him and Rise. "But for now, lets try and think happier things. De-stress time."

Rin was content watching the other, slightly larger dire play, and then her ears perked when he brought a seashell to her. She snuffled it carefully, before he dashed off to go find another one. She huffed in amusement-charmed by the small gift. For now she left it, waiting to see what else he would do.
