It had been Abha's idea to go out into the jungle that morning. It wasn't said in words, but in a huge leaf she had dragged out from somewhere and draped it over her handler's sleeping form until she woke. Well used to Abha's antics by now, Marice had gotten ready for the day without protest and followed the matriarch out and away from the Academy after a quick breakfast. Now, as the sun hovered high in the sky and made it all that much hotter and humid, the black-haired woman leaned back against a tree, watching in curiosity as the golden creature trotted about the clearing she had found. She'd paw at the ground, chirp, do a quick circle, then repeat the action. She did this at least five times before prancing away with an excited trill. Marice shook her head with a small smile, taking another close look around. Abha hadn't detected anyone--or anything--close by upon their arrival, but it wouldn't be a total surprise to have something crash in and make her draw out her sword. It was the jungle, after all. It didn't take long for Abha to come back, some kind of colored rock in her mouth. She dropped it down on her spot before leaping off again. For the next little while, the draux would come back with something of interest to add to the pile. To finish it off, she draped a large leaf over it, then peered at her handler in question. Marice pursed her lips a bit in thought. Sometimes she just really didn't know. But..."Leaving that for someone to find, perhaps?" Abha looked delighted, hopping cutely on the spot before she nudged Marice, changing their direction here and there until they found another clearing. And just like before, Abha got to work leaving what she could find as 'treasures'. Figuring why not, Marice decided to help, as well, which only made the draux that much happier. At their forth clearing, Marice drank briefly from her flask as she pondered Abha's actions. She would do something similar at the Academy, leave shiny things, or plants, whatever she found interesting, for people and dragons to find as gifts. In light of the current food shortage, Abha had done her best to try and convert a few dragon friends to the fine cuisine of plant life, not quite understanding why they wouldn't. "Are you leaving gifts for anyone who may come around?" she asked at last. Abha dropped a shiny item (it looked oddly like a belt buckle) into the current pile and danced on the spot happily. That was a yes, obviously. "That is kind of you," Marice expressed. Abha would always be a wonder to her, but she would have it no other way. |
