Wow, thanks for this news :) I had no idea David Crosby liked Mark. This is what David said about Mark's contribution: The album kicks off with "What's Broken," which features Marl Knopfler on guitar (streaming below). "That was a huge piece of generosity on Mark's part," says Crosby. "We sent him the song and he just fucking killed it. He did me a huge favor and we don't even know each other. He's just brilliant." Click below to hear the track: What's Broken Mark's guitar sounds really good  |

One of my all-time favourite singers - mostly for his incredible harmonic sense - I would be buying David Crosby's new CD regardless of who, or what was on it! I love him and I just want to hear what he's doing. It's nice to see that he's still working with his son, James after the demise of their previous band, CPR. And it sounds like they're continuing in a similar vein to the sort of alternative jazzy-pop that band produced, which suits me just fine, too! Some folks might remember that Mark played on a Steely Dan track called, "Time Out Of Mind" back in 1980. Musically, I think this harkens back to that in a way. CSN (Crosby, Stills, & Nash) occasionally skirt this musical territory too, but "What's Broken", like much of the material on CPR's albums, also has elements of Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell in it. It's not your typical radio-friendly fodder, and it's especially nice indeed to hear Mark soloing in a different musical setting. Also, QJF mentioned that Mark's guitar sounded really good and I agree. In my honest opinion, I think it's simply because he's using the right guitar for the track - one with single-coil pick-ups! :waytogo: |
