I have just found on Amazon.co.uk that there is to be a new Dire Straits live album to be released on 9th December called Live on Air 1995 there is no track list but it has an early DS photo on the cover, does anyone know anything about this? It is to be release on the Laser Media label, not Mercury, so does that mean it is a bootleg? Live on Air 1995 |

Hi, James. I checked your find out on this side of the pond. I found it listed for sale from CD Universe, a large internet retailer. It says it was released November 4, 2016 on the Video Music, Inc. label. They are selling it for $12.15 US. I also found it on Amazon, too. They want $16.20 US! They say it is imported, so who knows where it comes from. Oh, I just found it at a site called spincd.com. They say it is from a "rare FM broadcast CD recorded in 1995." Could it be Live At The BBC? I think that was done in 1995, wasn't it? |

Live at the BBC was released in July 1995, but recorded in July 1978, with the exception of TOL, which was recorded in 1981. |

I was thinking about the Live at The BBC 1995 release but that would make this release illegal, as you can still buy the Live at The BBC album. Plus Dire Straits had ceased to be by 1995 so it is a weird release. |

I was wondering if the BBC aired it in 1995? If that was the case, I guess someone could have recorded it and they are putting it out there as a bootleg. I had never heard that the group did any live concerts in '95 so this was the only thing I could think of. You are correct, James, pretty weird! |
