Hi, Stanko. I have included the lyrics here to make it easier to refer to them.
It seems to me to that everyone wants the "good things in life." Vacations with no rain to ruin them, easy lives and jobs, etc. To a certain extent, even being a celebrity. I think we could all associate these things with "time in the sun." He goes on that "round here you don't get time in the sun," and that is true for most people. Then the line which may associate with soccer - if you don't get the ball, you don't get to run. He adds that you can try your hardest, but that won't win you anything. The last line about pulling over and getting out of the car seems to imply dropping whatever you attempt completely. I would take this to concern all things in life, not jut trying to quit smoking, but I'm not an expert, either. I also haven't really had any feeling of any underlying meanings, and don't believe we have had any discussions about it, either. |

Thanks Linda, I agree, of course, but also wondering if it might refer to Mark's decision to quit smoking? ... Also to add that my initial take on it would be about the chance that you might have got only once in your life and it's up to you to choose whether you want to get out and enjoy in the sun... :) Still, it is almost the same what you already explained... |
